Adding pages to pages

I used a template and modified it it's 2 pages. I can't add a third page. I found no documentation re adding a page so I assumed that if text flowed beyond the second page a third page would be added. I even pushed a picture into the non-existent third page and it disappeared. Any suggestions?
PS. The original flyer called FLYER is flawed. I called Apple Support because when I tried to email my revised FLYER template, onlyvone page would be as an image even though I chose PDF. Other templates emailed OK. So adding pages may be flawed also n

Yeah, I love how it's so much easier than the old OS9 days of having to put the fonts there yourself. More info for those looking at fonts, I've found that when given the option to download the Windows or the Macintosh font, downloading the Mac gives you a .sit file a lot of times. Instead, I download the Windows version (almost always a .zip file) and that works fine.
Given the option between TTF and OTF, always go with the OTF one

  • Adding a template style page in Pages 5

    Can anyone help me please?
I have upgraded to Pages 5.0 and not only are there far fewer interesting templates for me to start working from (I am looking particularly in the Newsletters section) but I am also having a problem adding template styled pages to a new project.
Previously I simply clicked on Insert > Pages in the menu and then selected the layout. I can't seem to find how to do this in 5.0 - all I can do is create a blank section.
I'm sure I must be missing something really obvious but I can't figure out what it is!
    Regards, Peter
PS is there any way to upgrade to Pages 5.0 but not lose the decent (interesting) templates? I'm a school teacher and the kids love having interesting templates to start with - these new ones are terrible!

The lack of page/section styles was one of the first features I noticed missing in Pages 5.0. This is really disappointing for me as I've created a number of my own document templates and have made extensive use of page/section styles.
On one hand I can understand why Apple may have removed this feature. It is rather an anomaly among its peers. Microsoft Word does not use page/section styles and to some users it could be a bit of a confusing  feature in Pages. I know for me it was somewhat confusing at first. I was used to the MS Word way of doing things and I was wondering how these section style templates differed from me just setting my own section style. But then I figured out that it is like a slide template in Keynote. It is simply a template and can be used as a shortcut to setup a new document section in a standard style. Since figuring out how to use the page/section styles, it has been awesome and has been one of the key reasons I like Pages better than Word and why I switched completely from Word to Pages.
For now, I guess I will have to figure out how to work without it which will basically mean that I will have to go back to the old manual method of just copying and pasting section styles. It will take longer to add new sections with identical styles to a document and will be more buggy. It is likely that I will not always get it exactly correctly which will result in consistency issues in my documents. As well, the inability to copy and paste whole pages/sections from the page thumbnails will make this process take even longer and be even more buggy. But ultimately it is doable.
I can only hope that the page/section templates is a feature that Apple will bring back very soon. I wish someone from Apple would at least let us know if this feature will be making its way back in or if it is gone for good. Accordingly, we could move on or plan for its return.

  • Stand alone region not seeing AM definition when added to seeded page...

I have created a stand alone region of type stackLayout that contains a messageLOVInput and a table for employee selection and forwarding to predefined pages. I then created a test page in JDeveloper where I added a FlexLayout region and extended my stackLayout region. This works as desired.
I then wished to test my stand alone region by adding it via personalization to a seeded page. I first copied the files to the appropriate directory in $JAVA_TOP into my custom directory. Then I loadd into the MDS, then bounced apache and OC4J. The controls renders as desired. However clicking upon the messageLOVInput in my stand alone region it opens a window and I get "Cannot find LOV in ... AM". Looking at the About this page link, I see that it is not recognizing my AM even though when I added the item via personalization (SITE LEVEL) I specified it. What am I missing here? This should be reusable functionality that can be added to any page, seeded or custom. But for whatever reason it fails to see my AM and thus cannot find the LOV. I know I didn't get the AM reference wrong during the personalization because it would throw an error if I had (ask me how I know this).
Has anyone ever done this before?

  • CS4 is adding a blank page, throwing off the printing

    I am creating a 40-page booklet to be printed 2-up saddle-stitch
In the Pages layout, it says i have 40 pages in 21 spreads. 1 page on the top is the front cover and 1 page on the bottom is the back cover and 19 double-page spreads inbetween. Pages 2 and 39 are the respective inside covers. Page 1 is aligned on the right and page 40 is aligned on the left. It should be printing fine, I would think.
But in the Print Booklet-Preview Pane, it gives a message that it has added 1 blank page to creat the booklet, and it was added before page one, so I now have no back cover, and my inside covers and page layouts are all wonky now.
I noticed that in the Pages flyout there is a small square to the right of Page 40, where page 41 would be. A small square that I can't highlight.
A few more items of interest, all pages have both Allow Document Pages to Shuffle and Allow Selected Spreads to Shuffle checked.
I am at a total loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that everyone here is a volunteer. Most of the regulars, like myself, drop in at least once a day, as we have time, and offer advice and solutions when we have them.
That said, I saw your post when it first was listed, and saw that you seemed to finding your way, and didn't have anything more to add at that point, as I suspect was the case with a lot of others. I'm sorry it never occurred to me to ask if you had any blank pages in the document, but there was nothing in the original post to suggest that, and including blank pages in a booklet print job is a pretty standard thing to do. If you know enough to have already added blanks to fix the page count, one would presume you also know enough to include them in the print job.
As far as the forum organization, we're about to go into a new version of the forum software, and many of the regulars are looking on that with some trepidation. Most of us actually LIKE the way things are now -- functional and uncluttered with extraneous nonsense like avatars and ratings points -- but it seems much of that is going to be creeping in. An attempt to unify the Adobe and Macromedia forums last year was an utter disaster, and we've all got our fingers crossed it won't happen again, but we'll be living with it no matter what as the Webcrossing contract is up and Adobe has signed on with Jive. You might want to take another look when the changeover is complete.
And, I'll repeat, these forums are probably the BEST source of FREE and accurate expert information on Adobe applications on the planet. You'll find users (and even some Adobe employees) from all over the world with vast experience in some pretty esoteric and specialized techniques. I find I still learn something new almost every week, and I've been making my living with InDesign since version 2.0 was released. I hope you'll come back if you have more questions.

  • InDesign CC crashes when i adding a new page

    Hi together!
When I adding a new page InDesgin CC crashed. I tested it on two PC with Windows 7 and Windows 8. I also created a new document. Always the same problem when adding a new page. Can anyone help me?
    Regards
    Christian

Having similar problem for second time (different files, different content) in the past two months.
    Using IDCC2014 (10.2.0.69) on Mac OS 10.10.3.
When inserting a new frame (whether a newly placed image or an empty frame) with text wrap, text reflows (as expected) but InDesign quits (no warning or error, it just quits).
Inserting a new page and reflowing text also causes ID to quit.
Finding earliest page in document where the problem begins (similar to above reply; in my two cases that is p. 2 and p. 23) and deleting the text frame on that page causes ID to quit.
I work on quite a few books with many elements, but the files in question are just straight text with page numbers (not even running heads) and some illustrations to be inserted.
Saving as IDML does not resolve the issue. Trashing preference does not resolve the issue.
Dragging pages to a new file does not resolve the issue. But if text is copied-and-pasted into a new file then that new file will work fine.
The problem is consistent at various work stations across three different locations/networks.
The only fix has been to delete ALL of the document pages from the affected area on and do the work again, i.e., redraw new pages and apply the chapter opening master pages again. Deleting just the first page where problem is found or the first two pages where problem is found or first four pages where problem is found, etc., causes ID to quit.
In the case of this second file (I don't have the first file onhand right now), it does not have a long save history; it's not from a legacy template file or something like that. Cracking open the IDML file confirms only four saves beyond the initial creation and all in IDCC2014.
Anyone else coming across this problem? Any suggestions?

  • Adding a duplicate pages to a Form

I am having a problem adding or "copying" the master page or page one to make duplicate pages with the same form fields. I am trying to make a form that requires input with regards to the steps required to construct a project. The "Page Add" button is in the background, the form was made by using  a PDF file of one the 10 Excel tabs. What I'm trying to do is create a 10 page form.
Any words of widsdom are welcomed.
I have attached a copy of the form I am having trouble with.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking, but it sounds similar to our project.
We need to enter values from a tablular form generated before the data is in the database. Because Apex didn't support mass insertions from a tabular form we created a submit process in pl/sql to loop through the apex_application.g_f99 items from first to last and update them, inserting if the update did not find any rows. it seems to be working well for us. The logic in the submit process is something like
    for i in 1..apex_application.g_f01.count loop
      --perform update
      if %sqlcount = 0
        perform insert

  • Adding a page to Pages 4.3

Working on a word document in Pages 4.3. I wish to add a blank page to an existing section, but only find a way to split a section. Is there a method for adding this blank page for a photo to the section?
    Thanks.

There are two kinds of templates in Pages '09, labelled in the sidebar of the Template Chooser:
Word Processing Templates where textflows from page to page and new pages are created by adding more text, or Inserting a Page Break or a Section Break.
Layout templates which are essentially blank individual sections with floating objects on them. You just go Layout on the toolbar and select another section.

  • Adding ana archive page with a link in the Navigation bar

I am really new to all this so don't think that I'm a 'tard. I am building a blog on '06 and I like most of what I can do, but I can't figure out a couple of things. My current blog is with Godaddy (pronounced blow-daddy) and with that blog I have archives, recent entries and a calendar. Is there any way that I can duplicate that here? If not, how about just adding a blank page that I use for archives. I know that I already have one but I can't seem to make it visible in the navigation bar. Any help?

No, you have to have a page for it to show up in navbar.
The work around is to use refresh tag to redirect to your email address, here is how:
    http://www.geocities.com/[email protected]/Test/Front.html
    1) make a Front page
    2) make a Contact page, link Contact page to Front page's navbar
    3) editing Front page: search for href="Contact.html" change to target="_blank" href="Contact.html"
    4) copy contents of index.html
    5) editing Contact page: replace contents of Contact the contents of index.html
    6) search for http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= some page.html" change it to http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=mailto:[email protected]"
    7) add the following to the end of Contact.html
    <script language="Javascript">
    <!--
    setInterval("window.close()",2000);
    -->
    </script>

    Help, please for a newbie.
In Pages, have by accident added a blank page to a resume.
    How delete?
    Thx

Depends on how the additional page got there. It this at the end of the document of somewhere in the middle?
Assuming it isn't due to peculiar formatting of a text element, you should be able to tap in the top line of the blank page and tap the backspace key until you get back to the preceding text.

  • How to create a new aspx page in Pages library using Elements.xml without including any aspx page layout in my feature?

Is it possible to have the elements.xml file create a page in the Pages (or SitePages) library without actually including any sort of page layout or aspx artifact in the feature?
I see no reason to add a mywebpartlayout.aspx to my feature just so I can deploy a Home.aspx based on the BlankWebPart.aspx page layout.
I'm sure there is something obvious I am missing with regards to the Elements schema (which is why I've almost given up on using it completely and just gone to pure C#) but
I would really like to do this kind of simple stuff with declarations if at all possible. Must less code to write, debug, test and maintain.

I don't see how my question keeps getting misunderstood. This seems to be very clear and clearly not answered: "Is it possible to have the Elements.xml file
create a page in the Pages (or SitePages) library without actually including any sort of page layout or aspx artifact in the feature?"
I can't be more clear than "without including ANY sort of page layout or aspx artifact (meaning anything ending in aspx) IN THE FEATURE". I am not capitalizing to yell,
only to emphasize. Your disagreement is based on a link that shows ADDING AN ARTIFACT (the dummy MyPage.aspx) to a feature. I am asking if it
is possible (again, I cannot be more clear) to just use an Elements.xml file to instruct SharePoint to make a new item in a Pages or SitePages library.
Your definition of page includes Page Layouts and what you call Web Part Pages (again, a type of page layout + data in a site pages list that says what webparts
to display). Page Layouts are clearly NOT items stored inside of a SitePages or Publishing Pages library. Those libraries are just lists whose records
define the parts to show inside a specific layout.
When I refer to a Page I mean an entry into a pages (site pages/publishing pages) list. If I wanted to deploy a page layout then, quite obviously, I would need
to include it into my solution. I think maybe you are assuming that I do not know the difference. I do. The question is, can an Elements file alone be enough to instruct SharePoint to make a new entry into a Pages or SitePages library.
Now, your second link does show how to reference an existing Page Layout. Thank you for that. It is excellent. But this still leaves the problem of having to
add some sort of aspx page into the solution. Let me try to explain why I feel this SHOULD BE unnecessary: The aspx file will not have anything on it if I am referring to the ~sitecollections/.../BlankWebPartPage.aspx layout.
All web parts and content that should appear on the new page can be described IN the Elements.xml file. Any sort of aspx file is unnecessary, it seems to me.
So, if I am referencing a ~sitecollections/.../BlankWebPartPage.aspx page layout and specifying the web parts to add to the page, why should there be a
requirement to have some aspx file within the feature? That's what I am trying to figure out.
I am not asking for source code as proof. I am asking for an Elements file that does NOT reference anything AT ALL inside the Visual Studio solution for reasons I just described.
If you do not know how to do it then perhaps it cannot be done but I would like the question to stay unanswered for a little while until someone can demonstrate either a) it CAN
be done or b) a link to some Microsoft document stating that it is MANDATORY to have a physical element within the feature that gets copied to the environment.
I think it is important to understand what is being asked before insisting you have answered. It is clear from your posts that you have not fully understood the question yet but
I am hoping this posts makes it clear. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, though. You seem to be the only one up for the challenge! :)

    Hi,
As there is no complete code at hand, you can take the snippet below about updating the name of a page in a page library as a reference:
    if((Get-PSSnapin | Where {$_.Name -eq "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell"}) -eq $null) {
    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell;
    $web = Get-SPWeb http://yoursite
    $list = $web.Lists["Site Pages"]
    $listItems = $list.Items
    foreach($item in $listItems)
    if ($item.Name -eq "Page1.aspx")
    $file = $item.File
    $file.MoveTo($item.ParentList.RootFolder.Url + "/" + "Page1_changed.aspx")
    $file.Update()
    #dispose of web
    $web.dispose();

  • If I duplicate a page in pages, it adds an unwanted blank page in between

    Can anyone help?
I need to duplicate page 1.  If I show the thumbnails view - duplicate page, instead of just adding an identical page 2 - it adds a blank page 2 and then identical page 3.  Then on the thumbnail view, both page 1 and 2 have the yellow box round them as if linked.  If I try to delete page 2 it deletes page 1 too.
What is going wrong and why is it adding a blank page in between?  I've even tried to do it as a Capture Page and add it as a section, but that again adds the blank page.

    Denniknak,
The yellow box does indicate a linkage. I shows you that all the pages in the box are in the same Section. Individial pages are shown as icons in the thumbnail pane, but there is nothing you can do with individual pages there. Entire Sections can be Copied, Pasted, Deleted or Duplicated. Not so with individual pages. To delete a Page, delete the content of that page, or isolate the page with Section Breaks and delete the isolated page as a section. To add a page, insert a Page Break, or a pair of them. Or, insert a Section Break or a pair of Section Breaks. I think you get the idea.

  • Help! Need to override Page Down/Page Up in JList

Help! Need to override Page Down/Page Up in JList...
PgUp PgDn selects the top or bottom item in a Jlist when JList is in focus. I want PgUp and PgDn to do something different (which it does), but it still selects top or bottom items. How do I COMPLETELY remove all key listeners in the JList?
    Oliver

Sounds like you are just adding a key listener to the list and just
listening for PAGE_UP/PAGE_DOWN. Which is why the original behavior is
still there: both your listener and the list's own handler are being
    invoked.
What you might want to do instead is to either set your own action
for PAGE_UP/PAGE_DOWN in the list's input map, and then set that action
to your own in the list's action map, or try setting the scrollUp and
scrollDown actions to your own action in the list's action map. Note
that shift PAGE_UP/PAGE_DOWN are also bound, by the way.

  • Threadinar10 - Page Separator, Page Fragment Box , Tab Set & Tab Components

    Hi All,
This is the tenth in the Threadinar series. See the Components Threadinar Index at http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=103424 for the complete list to date.
This Threadinar will discuss 4 components in the "Components Palette: Layout Section" section of the Creator Component Catalog.
The components we will focus on today are
"Page Separator", "Page Fragment Box" , "Tab Set" & "Tab" Components.
Let us begin our discussion with the "Page Separator" Component.
    Page Separator Component
You can drag the Page Separator component from the Palette's Layout category to the Visual Designer to create a horizontal line that resizes to any page width selected by the user. This component is the visual equivalent of an HTML <hr> tag.
In the page bean, a Page Separator component is a PageSeparator object.
    * Note: If you want to use an HTML <hr> tag, drop a Meta component on the page and set its tag property to hr.
    [b]Page Fragment Box Component
This component enables you to include a page fragment in a page. A page fragment is a separate, reusable part of a page that can be included in any number of pages. For example, you might want to put a common a visual element like a header graphic in a page fragment and then include it in all the pages in an application.
When you drag the Page Fragment Box component from the Layout category of the Palette and drop it on a page, the Select Page Fragment dialog box prompts you for the name of the page fragment to be included. You can enter the name of an existing page fragment or create a new page fragment. If you create a new page fragment, the IDE gives the new fragment a .jspf file suffix and creates a node for it in the Projects window, as well as adding the page fragment to the Outline window.
    * Note: A Page Fragment Box component simply includes a page fragment in a page. Deleting a Page Fragment Box component from a page does not delete the page fragment itself, even if you originally used the Select Page Fragment dialog box to create the page fragment.
After dropping a Page Fragment Box component on the page, if you click inside the component, you see the properties for the included fragment. If you click the border of the component, you see the properties for the enclosing <div> block. You can also use the Outline window to select the enclosing block, the page fragment, or the components in the page fragment. In the Outline window, the Page Fragment Box component is represented by a node named directive.include:fragment-file.jspf, where fragment-file is the name of the page fragment file.
If you double-click the page fragment, it opens as a page in the Visual Editor, enabling you to edit it like a regular page. The page fragment has an associated JavaBeans object, a page fragment bean, which you can edit by clicking the Java button at the top of the page fragment when it is open in the Visual Editor. As with a regular page, if you drop a component like a button in a fragment, double clicking adds an event handler in the page fragment bean, enabling you to reuse the code on any page to which you add the page fragment. A common scenario for reusing component code would be a Search Box fragment that has a search Label, a Text Field where the user enters the search string, some Inline Help, and search logic code in the page fragment bean.
    * The tab order of the components in the page is unlikely to work properly unless you enclose the entire page fragment box in the Faces Verbatim component.
For more details see tutorial : "Using Page Fragments"
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/pagefragments.html
    [b]Tab Set Component
The Tab Set component in the Palette's Layout category is a container for a set of Tab components. Typical uses of a tab set are:
    * To provide alternate sets of components on the same page and enable the user to navigate to them by clicking on tabs. The user sees only the components under the currently selected tab. For more information on adding components to tabs, see Tab Component.
    * To navigate among a set of pages. If you use a tab set this way, you would usually have the tab set near the top of each page with the component's width set at 100%. You would use the Page Navigation editor to define each tab to display a page in the application, with the current page's tab set as the selected tab. In addition, you would need to delete the default Layout Panel component under each tab so the tab would display the page contents.
You can set Tab Set properties in the component's Properties window.
A Tab Set component contains Tab Components, and Tab components can contain other Tab components. You can see these components displayed as hierarchical nodes in the Outline window after you add a Tab Set to your page.
You can add a new tab to a tab set in two ways, by right-clicking the Tab Set component and choosing Add Tab or by dropping a new tab component on the Tab Set or on a Tab component.
You can drop a new tab component on a tab set in the Visual Designer to the right or left of existing tabs to create a new tab at that level. The tabs in a tab set can also be containers for other tabs. If you drop a Tab component on an existing tab, the new tab becomes a child of the tab on which you dropped it. The maximum number of levels for tabs is three.
The tab set component determines which tab is rendered as selected, storing the value in the selected property. By default, the selected property is set to the first tab created for the component. If you click a tab while designing your web page, that tab becomes the selected tab. You can tell during design time that a tab is selected because its color changes.
    [b]Tab Component
A Tab is part of a Tab Set component. You can add a new tab to a tab set in two ways, by right-clicking the Tab Set component and choosing Add Tab or by dragging a new Tab component from the Layout category of the Palette and dropping it on the Tab Set or on another Tab component. You can also drag from the Palette and drop the tab on the tab set's nodes in the Outline window.
    * If you drop the Tab component to the left or right of an existing tab, it is added to the same row of tabs.
    * If you drop the Tab component on an existing tab, the dropped tab becomes a child tab of the tab on which you drop it unless the existing tab is a third level tab. You can have at most three levels of tabs in a tab set.
o Note: You cannot add a child tab to a tab that has components in its Layout Panel. When you drop a tab on an existing tab component that has an empty Layout Panel, the empty Layout Panel is deleted to make room for the dropped tab.
By default, a Tab component has a Layout Panel below it where you can drop components that will be displayed when the user selects the tab. The Layout Panel by default has its panelLayout property set to Grid Layout, meaning that components dropped on the panel are aligned at the location where they are dropped. You can change the layout behavior by setting the panelLayout property to Flow Layout, which aligns dropped components left to right in rows. For more information on Layout Panel properties, see Layout Panel Component Properties Window.
To select a tab in a tab set, either click the Tab component on the page or select the Tab component's node in the Outline window. To select the whole tab set, either click the border of the Tab Set component on the page or select the tab set's node in the Outline window. Alternatively, you can select a Tab component and either press Escape or right-click and choose Select Parent to select its parent component.
    * Note: If you select a tab on a page in the Visual Designer, a side effect is that it becomes the selected tab. If this effect is not what you want, select the tab in the Outline window so you can set its properties.
You can drag tabs in the Outline window to change their location and level in the tab set.
    Some typical uses of tabs:
    * You can drop components on the Layout Panel component below a tab to enable a set of components to be displayed below each tab. When the user selects a tab, they see only the components that are associated with the tab, without having to change pages.
    * You can use a tab set to navigate among a set of pages. Each tab component links to a page in your web application. You would use the Page Navigation editor to define each tab to display a page in the application, with the current page's tab set as the selected tab. If you want to use the tab set for page navigation, be sure to delete each tab component's Layout Panel.
You can also right-click the Tab component and choose one of the following options:
    * Edit action Event Handler. Code the action event handler, the method that is called when the user clicks the tab. This method determines which page or resource to open based on specified conditions. The action method typically processes mouse clicks and returns a string indicating the name of a page navigation case (the page in your application to display next). The default name for the method is tab-id_action, where tab-id is the value of the tab's id property.
    * Bind to Data. Dynamically set the text that appears on the tab. You can bind the component's text property to an object or a data provider, as described in the topic Bind to Data Dialog Box.
    * Property Bindings. Opens a dialog box that enables you to bind properties of the component in addition to the text property to other objects or bean properties that update this component's properties automatically.

The following blog has a mini tutorial on using a tab set in a page fragment for page navigation:
    http://blogs.sun.com/divas/entry/tabbing_thru_the_tulips
A reader commented that the mini tutorial needed to be improved upon to show how to keep the tab state and navigation state in synch.
How would you do it? If you have a good example, maybe post it to this thread.
Also, there is no tab tutorial but it is on the priority list. What would you like a tab tutorial to show how to do?
