Adding print slide or window button

I am trying to print the quiz results page and the only thing I can find is to add a smart shape button and change the action to "execute_JavaScript".  In the script_window i'm simply adding one line of code "window.print()".  The problem I'm running into is when I publish my project the slide containing the print button shows up completely blank.  Any idea whay I am doing wrong here?  I tried adding a widget as well, but my system does not have a print widget available.

Where do you see the target='_top"? I went looking for the original button from my original post which was in the http://web.me.com/toad.hall/HelperSite//Page1_files/widget3markup.html page via the Activity window and view source and this is what the code of that widget page is:
<xmp>
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><title></title></head><body><form>
<input type=button value="Close Window" onClick="javascript:window.close();">
</form> </body></html>
</xmp> (Ignore the <xmp></xmp> tags when using)
I don't see the target='_top" in there. What am I missing? This was my first post: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9134142#9134142.
Thanks for the help.

  • Printing to a shared printer on a windows XP PC

Hello all, I switched last March. I've been doing pretty good at dealing with all the bumps in the road, but I got one I can't figure out.
My roommate and I moved in together about a month ago. We were going to share my printer. I decided to plug my epson printer into his computer because I didn't know if my power book would be here when he needed to print.
At any rate, I added the printer as I should, but when I tried to print I got the error NTSTATUS_ACCESSDENIED. I tried holding the option button when adding the printer and adding it as windows printer with samba. Same thing, we figured the problem was on his end and decided that I would just plug my power book in directly to the printer when I needed to.
So my printer quit and he decided to buy a lazer printer, Konica Minolta 1350w. So I go to their site to get the mac drivers so I can print, they don't support macs for that printer. So now I'm left with fixing whatever is stopping me from printing over the network. Any ideas?

First, your Window pc needs to be in workgroup and should be sharing. Then you go to your mac system preference and adding printer with printer browser then check more printer and top two section check with windows printing and whatever your workgroup name. You must able to log in to his windows computer. I think that how I did it . If not let me know. I have 3 printers set up with my Mac. it is work but somehow feels little slow.

  • Connecting HP990Cse via print sever in Windows 7 64bit

I want to install the drivers for an HP990Cse printer which is connected through a printer server built into my WD Netcenter network drive. Windows 7 (64bit) can find the printer but not the driver. Also, this printer is not found in the list provided in Windows. It asks for the location of the driver files (browse button), however, I am unable to download any driver files from the HP website. All they have is a wizard to allow hookup via USB or instruct the user to simply hook the printer to Windows and let it provide the driver. I am not hooking up via USB, so I not sure what to do.
When installing a Brother printer, I had no issue since I could download the driver files, put them in a folder and then point Windows to that folder. Where can I get the driver files for this printer or what procedure should I use to install this printer?
    Thanks,
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I will answer this question myself for the benefit of anyone who may find themselves in this position. Following some advice I found on the Internet. I did the following:
I installed the printer as a local printer on the USB port allowing Windows to provide the driver. It worked find plugged into a USB port.
I then moved the printer back to the print server in the NetCenter.
I then went into the printer driver on the ports tab and added a new port with the network path for the printer. For example \\printer_server_name\printers\DESKJET-990C.
This did not work, however. So I went to the Network and Sharing Center and chose the option to View Computers and Devices which showed the print server. I double clicked on the print server which then displayed the connected printer. I double clicked on the printer to connect to it. I got a message saying that the driver could not be found. I clicked OK to install the driver. When the driver list appeared, I selected HP in the left column and guess what? The 990C printer driver and a bunch more HP printer drivers were listed. I selected the 990C and everything worked fine.
I not sure if installing the printer locally caused Windows to populate the list with more HP drivers, but it seems as if it did because those drivers were not in the list before.

  • Cannot Print to a Windows 8 shared Printer

I have a home network of Windows 8 as a file and Print Server connected to 2 Windows Laptops and a Macbook Air. I have a HP Laserjet attached to the Win 8. When I added the printer on the Mac, it installed the required software. Now, when I try to print from the Mac, I get a msg saying that holding for authentication. On entering the details, the printer dialog box still says holding for authentication.
    Mac OSX - 10.8.3
    Windows 8.
    Printer - HP Laserjet.

This is a very common problem. I encountered this using an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus printer which was USB connected to a Windows 7 SP1 machine. It was shared to all users using Windows print sharing. Bidirectional file sharing between Windows and iMac 27 running OS X 10.8.5 worked fine. Windows 7 was configured for workgroup sharing, not homegroup or domain-based sharing. This is the simplest, most basic level of sharing in a cross-platform situation.
On the Mac, I installed the HP OS X drivers. After driver installation, the printer model was visible in the System Preferences>Print & Scan>Add Printer dialog.
After adding it the network shared printer on the Windows PC was visible from the Mac and I could check print status, toner levels, etc. However upon trying to print, it would hang in the Mac print queue with the message "on hold (authentication required)".
In my case the solution was pressing the refresh button on the print queue, which ONLY THEN displayed a login authentication screen. It was defaulting to my Mac admin login which (maybe in the goal of visual simplicity) was not shown.
I changed the login to Username: guest, Password: guest, and it printed fine.
This is extremely frustrating, as it took me hours to find this. I see many, many other discussion threads where this is likely the problem. Some of them struggled with this problem for days. This activity is in the COMMON PATH of a large % of users. It is not a fringe or rare activity or an "edge case".
Ideally Mac OS should just transparently handle this. Lacking that, the build-in help documentation should cover it. Lacking even that, at least an Apple KB article should cover it. Lacking even that, if the authentication dialog was not suppressed but popped up by default, at least it would point some users in the right direction.
As it is, not a single one of those things were done, and many people continue to hit this over, and over, and over. It is an embarrassing situation. There are 80,000 Apple employees. If just one of them spent a few minutes to write a KB article about this, it would help a lot.
There are likely other sub-cases which could cause the same error message. You don't want an excessively broad, poorly-worded KB article which implies there's a single solution to a given error. However the problem is nothing has been written or done to address this, and it's apparently been causing users problems for years.

  • Photo Printing from Networked Windows 7

My HP Photosmart Printer is  USB connected to a Windows XP machine which is directly attached to the home network.  Also have a Windows 7 64 machine  wirelessly connected to the home network.  The Photosmart printer was added to the windows 7 machine and selected as the default printer and I have no problems printing to it from the Windows 7 machine except that I only recently found out that I cannot select from various photo paper sizes to print photos from the Windows 7 computer.  All various printing programes only give me a limited selection of paper sizes to choose from when configuing the printing - Letter, A4, A5 Envelope, Legal, etc.   The same programs on the XP machine offer the choice of various photo paper sizes to print to.  It seems as though all of the Photosmart configuration options are not available via the Windows 7 computer. Should I try to install the printer on the Windows 7 machine again, directly from a downloaded HP installation file?

    Hi,
Well, looks like you have to install drivers on the Windows 7 machine (if supported) but I how do we know your printer to find out ?.

  • Printing to a Windows Shared Printer in Windows Domain Stopped Working

If anybody can shed some light on the problem below I would be highly appreciative. I have tried every suggestion I've found on ways to fix this problem, including postings found on this forum, without success.
I use able to Print to a Shared HP Laser Jet printer one a Windows 2003 Server machine, which is part of a Windows 2003 Domain. It has been working faultlessly until about a 2 weeks ago. I have had a number of errors including unable to Connect but the Error I get constantly now is:
+Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...ERROR: Connection failed with error NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY"+
I have reset the password of the windows user that originally made the connection when the computer was set up and this password had special characters. After reading various posts I have tried:
    1. Reseting that users password without special characters, deleting the printer and adding it back in using the same user and the new password. The same user can map and connect to windows Shared Directories on the same Server and open and edit files
    2. I have reset the Keychain to make sure it was using the new password. Again deleted and re-added the printer.
    3. Created a new user both on the domain and one the print server deleted and re-added the printer using each user while also reseting the key chain
    4. Tried the Advance option on the Printer Setup Utility using the following SMB URL format,
smb://user:pass@Domain/Machine/Printer where, the domain is called "home", the machine name is "Devserver01" and the printer share name is "HPLaser" resulting in a smb URL of smb://shanep:xxxxx@Home/Devserver01/hplaser.
    None of the above work!
So as a new MAC user I have absolutely no other ideas of where to look for additional information on what is happening i.e. where do you look for log files that may contain additional detail.
Can anybody assist on suggesting any other things to look for or check?
    Thanks
    Shane

    Hi Greg,
Thanks of the tips. I have just managed to get it working and I didn't use the LPD method but tried a few different smb URI's.
    Here's what I found worked.
    1. I created a standard user account on the Windows 2003 server on which the printer is connected and shared, i.e. a non Domain user name that is local to the server only and not the domain
    2. I then used this user name and password, along with the IP address of the server in the URL i.e.
    smb://user:password@IPofserver/hplaser.
    3. Printed a test page successfully
I then tried variations of a theme using username and passwords on the domain, changing the @workgroup/server/printer with no success.
I could however replace the IP address with simply the @Server/Printer combinations using he local user name and password successfully.
I also installed apple and Unix printing and file services so whether this made the difference I'm not sure.
Interestingly I tried to add the mac to the LDAP/Active Directory and couldn't successfully bind to the directory. Not that I'm an AD expert, but I have configured a few Java applications to use LDAP/AD authentications and groups of late so this problem is a little unusual, but that aside, thanks for the pointers, Printing problem solved. now to solve the AD one

  • Printing to a Windows shared printer via SAMBA

I'm trying to setup my mac to print to a printer shared via a Windows PC on my network. I have gone into system preferences / print&fax and added a printer, used the "Advanced" settings on the toolbar, chosen SAMBA and entered the address of the printer as smb://IPADDRESS/printername
When I try to print to this printer, it asks for a username and password. I enter it and then the document briefly appears in the printer queue and then disappears as if it has printed successfully. The document however never appears in my Windows printer queue or actually prints.
CUPS does not return any errors in the CUPS log file. CUPS actually says the printer is idle and accepting jobs.
A friend can print from a windows PC to the printer by using the address \\IPADDRESS\printer name in the manual windows printer setup (the printer does not show up in the browser).
I can also connect to the computer using Leopard's built in SAMBA networking by accessing smb://IPADDRESS so I know the server is active on the network and my username and password work.
Does anybody have any ideas why I am not getting an errors and it's still not working?

Well, that isn't too useful. Try this instead: Adding a printer shared by a Windows computer via SMB/CIFS.
You may find more by selecting Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and searching for articles by keyword.

  • Printing to shared Windows printer fails after Yosemite upgrade

Running Mountain Lion had a working shared printer from Windows 7 Pro - a Canon MX310.
After upgrade the printer is still there but trying to use it results in "Support Code : 306 A communication error has occurred..."
Tried deleting the printer then re-adding. The OS X printer app finds the printer in the windows workgroup, appears to have a little chat then says its added ok. Same Error.
Tried a reset of the mac printing system - same.
Printer is working on the host PC and from other network windows PC.
    Anyone else seen similar issue?

I can't claim any experience with this printer. I am going on what the "specs" say should work.
There are three software pieces needed to set up this printer. For the first two, you will need to download and install both the Foomatic-RIP software and the ESP Ghostscript software from <http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/foomatic/>.
For the third item, you will need to download the PPD for this printer from <http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-BJ-200>. Place the PPD in the following folder (make any folders that are not already on your system):
    /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj
This setup will use the bj200 device that is built into Ghostscript. The notes that I find in the device driver indicate that this is using the BJ-10 command set. The manual for the bj-200e shows that this is one of the languages it can use. There might be some DIP switches you need to set to make things compatible with this command set and/or the line spacing set forth in the device driver.
Let us know how this goes.

  • Printing to Shared Windows Printer (printer not listed)

    Hi
I have an iMac with an intel processor running Leopard 10.5.2.
I have a Canon iP1800 connected to a windows xp PC and I am wanting to print to this printer over my network.
I can see the printer no problem and Mac OS will let me connect to it but my printer is not listed in the driver list.
I have been on Canons website and downloaded the correct driver thats supposed to work with Leopard but even once I have installed this the printer still does not appear in the list.
I'm sure this world work if I could only point Mac OS to the location of the printer driver.
So my question is, how do I get my printer to appear in the list? or is there another way of doing this.
    Thanks
    Ricky55

When you say it doesn't show up for windows printing what do you mean?
When I go to add a printer by clicking the + button I then select windows and the printer shows up there fine but when I click on the drop down menu print using, select a driver to use this is where it doesn't show up. Is this what you mean?
If so I have been on the Gutenprint website but my printer is not listed. If I install the latest version would this work for me? What would I select in the print using drop down menu?
    Thanks

  • How does one print to enterprise Windows print services in Yosemite? CUPS 2.0 problem?

One of my co-workers upgraded to Yosemite yesterday and it broke his ability to print to our corporate printing services (which are built around a Windows print server). Obviously, the printer discovery in the System Preferences can't find the Windows print server - that's never worked. However, we had previously been able to add a printer through the CUPS web front-end by adding a Windows printer and specifying an SMB URL in the format:
    smb://DOMAIN;USER:[email protected]/QUEUE-NAME
... which worked like a charm in Mavericks. However, Yosemite has upgraded to CUPS 2.0.0 and this no longer seems to work. Print jobs enter the CUPS queue, but authentication fails and they are not accepted by the remote server.
I've consulted the CUPS 2.0.0 documentation, and there's not really anything helpful there. In fact, there's no mention of SMB / Windows printing at all in the 2.0.0 documentation. Unfortunately our campus print services does not support IPP, LP, LPR, or JetDirect as options -- just Windows printing.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?

Just finished testing 10.10 printing via a Windows 2008 R2 print share. I also found that when trying to add the printer using CUPS I would get an authentication error. But if I added the printer using the Windows section of the Add printer pane, then I was able to print fine.
So with you mentioning that using the Windows section of the Add printer window has never worked (which is interesting because it's always worked for me) I want to suggest another approach to adding the printer, still using the Add printer window. With this window open you can right-click on the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar. You can then drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar. Then when you select this, you can set the Type menu to "Windows via spoolss" and then enter the URL as smb://servername/sharename. Select the supporting driver and click Add to complete.
Then when you select to print for the first time using this printer you will be prompted to authenticate. Enter the account details, set the save to Keychain option and OK to send the print job.
This worked fine for me and creates the same queue as using the Windows add printer setting. Curious to hear if this gets your co-worker printing again.

  • 2008 R2 printer server, cannot connect to printer, access denied, Windows 7 OS only

Deployed new Windows 2008 R2 domain controller, added print and document controll. Added several network printers on R2 server. We currently have mostly Vista biz clients but half a dozen W7Pro clients also. The Vista clients connect to these new network
printers, no problem but none of the W7 clients will connect. I select the printer from the drop down directory list and select to load the drivers, the system starts loading drivers and then right before it finishes it stops with error message, "Windows cannot
connect to the printer. Access denied. Again, this happens only with the W7 clients on our domain, Vista works fine.

By default, the security settings for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 allow users who are not members of the local
Administrators group to install only trustworthy printer drivers, such as those provided with Windows or in digitally signed printer-driver packages. You may want to install printer-driver packages on the print server
or in the clients. More details can be found this page: Cannot
