Adding songs to an Existing Playlist

I've got songs in the iTunes music folder and created a playlist with selected tracks. I now want to add additional songs to the existing separate playlist. For whatever reason, I can't seem to copy an additional song(s) to the playlist that I previously created, the copy/paste command will not work. What can I do?

You don't copy paste to a playlist.
Just drag a song to it.
You cannot drag songs to a smart playlist.

  • Adding songs to an existing playlist on an iPad

I Have an existing playlist which I created. It's not a Smart Playlist. Now that I finished the list a while ago I'd like to add more songs from my music library. There doesn't seem to be an obvious way to do anything but delete songs. Does anyone know how to add songs to an existing playlist on an iPad?

I assume that the songs are already in the Music app on your iPad.
Go to the Playlist tab in the Music App and select the Playlist that you want to add songs to. Tap Edit in the upper left - above the first song in the list. Then tap the red + sign in the upper right portion of the screen. Scroll/swipe down through your songs and then tap the + signs to add the songs to the Playlist. When you are finished, tap Done.

  • When I add a new song to an existing playlist, will it automatically sync to my iPod once connected to my computer?

When I add a song to an existing playlist on iTunes, will it sync to my iPod once connected?
I'd rather not have to remember each specific playlist I add songs too to sync it to my iPod.
I do have automatic sync set up, starting today because I got tired of constantly manually adding music.
ALSO, if I deleted songs in iTunes, will it delete them in my iPod as well once connected to my computer?

So basically, do they keep each other updated automatically?
Yes, your data will be updated every time you sync.
Or do I have to enable something?

How do I add multiple songs to an existing playlist from the (no longer called) Library? Highlighting multiple songs and clicking the "Add to" button will only add the one with the little arrow, not all the highlighted ones! I am using the "new" iTunes.

For the moment there isn't a way for us end-users to control what is "matched" or "uploaded." That is purely a result of Apple's server-side algorithms.
To re-add multiple songs at once simply highlight all the songs you want to re-add, then right-click (or Control+click) the list and choose "add to iCloud."

  • Zen sleek photo: adding songs to an existing playl

I would like to know if songs can be added to an existing playlist. I have read the relevant qustions by other users and the question never gets answered. Someone said that saving a song overwrites the old playlist. And it does but it erases the songs that WERE on the playlist. I want to keep adding songs I like as I am listening to them. Can this be done with and on this player or not?

Done easily, using the software. First add the song to the library, in either "add media" or drag and drop into a folder. Then under. "manage playlists", bring up the existing playlist (right column in window) and then the song (left column in the window - make sure you remember where you put the song!) Click on the song and it will appear in the lower menu, then hit "add song" and it wll be in the playlist.

  • Merging songs into an existing playlist

Simple question - If I have a particular playlist on my iPOD nano, and want to ADD songs from my iTunes library to that playlist - not delete those already there - can I do that?

If you are updating automatically drag the songs from the iTunes library to the playlist in iTunes then connect your iPod and it will update the change you made. If you are updating your iPod manually just drag the songs from iTunes to the playlist on your iPod:
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
    Managing content manually on iPod

  • Can't add songs to existing playlists with iOS 7.1

Yesterday, I downloaded the new iOS 7.1 update.  Tonight I tried adding songs to an existing playlist, and they aren't there.  I went though the steps.  From Playlists, I tap edit, tap (+) to add songs and then tap on the songs I want to add.  Then I tap Done.  When I go back to the playlist, they aren't there.  Is this a glitch with the new update? Or is there a step I am missing?  Please help!!

thanks for the info on the checkboxes.  They just seemed redundant to me
If you use this feature, as shown in my previous screenshot, then unticking a song will cause it to be removed from your iPod at the next Sync, but left in your Library. Leave the ticks turned on.

"By the way, on the right-click/Add to Playlist, the Playlist Folders are also listed, but you cannot add a song to a Playlist Folder."  If that's the case, what function does that option on the menu perform?
The Playlist Folders are a method of grouping Playlists together, making them easier to find. The reason they are shown in the right-click is to make the Playlists easier to find. Look at the screenshot below, all the "Sleep" Playlists are in my "Sleep Time" folder.

As to dragging a track to a playlist, what view lets you see the playlists and songs at the same time?
If you have the Sidebar on (CTRL+S), the Songs View:
... and simply drag the song to any Regular Playlist.

  • I created a new playlist and added tunes to another.  When I synched my ipod showed the new playlist heading but 0 songs, although it correctly received the new songs on the updated playlist.  Tried to synch several times with the same result.

I created a new playlist and added some songs to another existing one.  When I synched with my PC, it loaded the new playlist heading but 0 songs, but did add the new songs to the existing playlist.  Repeated the process several times without success.

    This earlier post may help.

For me,  (long winded way) I drag the playlist from the bottom tree to the iPod branch.
    Then select iPod.
Click the music tab on the right window.
    click sync tick music
go down to the playlist section and tick the playlist.
    Apply.
    Good Luck.

  • How do I move a song from my iphone to an existing playlist on the iphone?

I've posted a couple questions about playlist issues that lots of you have read, but no replies, so maybe my issue is just mine.
That being said, I can't get playlists to transfer from my computer to my iphone.  The songs come over, not the playlists.
I can manually create a playlist on my phone, but once I've created it, I can't add songs to it.
Is there a way to add songs to an existing playlist without creating a new playlist on my iphone?  I've given up on figuring out what the issue is with the playlists not moving from my computer to my phone.  Like I said, the songs come over, not the playlists, so I've got the music I want, I just need to make the music I want functional and have the ability to add to the new list if I want to.
I don't always want to suffle all.
Any thoughts or advice?  Seems there ought to be a function / button to add sond to existing playlist in itunes.  Apple, are you listening?  Seems like an easy and useful addition.
If this function is available, can anyone tell me how to do it!
    Many thanks!

You just drag them and drop them where you want them to go.  If you don't want to keep the original on the source drive, you'll want to delete it afterwards.
What do you mean "some pics don't work?"  Don't work how?

  • IN THE MOBILE APP: RECENTLY ADDED SONGS SHOULD BE ABLE TO LAND AT THE TOP OF ANY PLAYLIST

IN THE MOBILE APP: RECENTLY ADDED SONGS SHOULD BE ABLE TO LAND AT THE TOP OF ANY PLAYLISTS BY DEFAULT IN SETTINGS. NOT ON THE BOTTOM AS ITS BEEN SINCE THE START IN 2008.
IT'S POSSIBLE TO DO SO ON A COMPUTER BUT I DOES NOT TRANCEND TO MOBILE DEVICES SUCH AS IPHONE. WHY???
IT BUGS ME EVERYTIME I'M FORCED TO SCROLL DOWN THROUGH 100s OF SONGS IN A PLAYLIST JUST TO PLAY THE MOST RECENTLY ADDED SONG IN THE SAME PLAYLIST.

  • How do you add new songs to existing playlist on iphone 5?

Before the update a few months ago I was able to add new songs to an existing playlist by hitting the Edit button.  Now I can only delete songs off of a playlist.  Has anyone figured out how to add new songs or do I just have to create a new playlist?  I really hope I don't because they will all be the same then.

What could I do to be able to add more pages to a document?

  • Add to existing playlists within iPod Classic

I know that an iPod Touch can add songs to specific playlists.
Is there a way to add songs to specific existing playlists within an iPod Classic (not an On-The-Go playlist) with out having to use iTunes on my computer?
So far I have been adding them to On-The-Go and whenever I eventually get around to syncing is when the songs finally get allocated into specific playslists.
    Gracias
