Address Book sync - Google

Is anyone else not able to get their google contact to sync?
I have GmAil set up as my mail and iCal no issue. I go to contact > Pref >select local mac > and enable google sync. I then hit the sync on the menu board and nothing. The address book reamins empty.
I have iCloud contacts off and iCal as I saw somewhere that was and issue. Any suggestions?

Hi Randy,
Is your system completely up to date? Google address book syncing was introduced with the 10.5.3 update of OS X. If you go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac," you can see what your computer is at. To make everything current, run "Software Update" in the Apple menu.

  • Address book sync google problem

I tried to sync Contacts of my Google account into the address book.  I follow the steps after clicking the preferences in Address book and type the google account and password info correctly.  I hit the circle icon on the top right menu bar and pull down to select Sync Now.  But nothing appears on the Address book while I could trial sync the contacts to an empty google account.  It seems it is not a synchonization but one-way data transfer.  I read some thread in this community and most of people find this similiar problem.
Apple Support, what could we do?????????

On October 18, 2007—with less than 24 hours notice for most users—Apple announced that .Mac synchronization services would change substantially to accommodate Panther users. Here is the text of that notice, which many users apparently did not receive:
    "Dear .Mac member:
Due to improvements being made to .Mac Sync on October 19, 2007, please note the following changes.
Mac OS X version 10.4 Tiger users:
To ensure uninterrupted service, you must be using Mac OS X version 10.4.10. To check which version you’re running, select About This Mac in the Apple menu. If you are not running version 10.4.10, click the Software Update button and install the update to 10.4.10.
Mac OS X version 10.3 Panther users:
To accommodate new enhancements, .Mac Sync will no longer support syncing of calendars between a Panther-based Mac and a Mac running Tiger or Leopard. Syncing calendars between Mac computers running Panther is unaffected.
These changes will help enable .Mac Sync to do more than ever. Thank you for your patience, and thank you for being a .Mac member.
That was ten days ago, and .Mac synchronization services are still undergoing 'maintenance.' There is not announced date by which stable, familiar service will be restored.
You can check the main page of .Mac to determine when the amber LED labeled Sync returns to green, or survey the this forum for information about service restoration. You'll see a previously updated status note at the top of the forum change when service is restored.

  • How to force Address Book syncing Google contacts immediately?

    Hi everyone,
Last time I configured the Address Book as syncing the contacts with my Google account, but there was nothing changed in the Address Book. A couple of days later when I run Address Book again, the contacts in my Google accont was already transferred into the application. I mean I don't know when the synchronization would happen and I don't know how to force it happen immediately.
I did some changes in my Google account and wish the modification being synced to the Mac asap. I'm desperate to see it happens since the modification was three days ago and the content in Address Book just won't change. I also delete all contacts in my Address Book and re-configure the synchronization but no luck either.
Wating for the answer. Thanks in advance.

I believe you can force the sync from isync. put an isync icon in the menu bar and when you want to sync AB choose "sync now" from the isync menu.

  • Address Book Version - Google Sync

I have my iMac address book synced to Google Contacts and wanted to set up my Powerbook the same way but didn't find the same setup screens. When I checked, the Address Book version on my iMac is 5.0.1 (864) and on my Powerbook it is 4.1.2 (702). I thought Software Update would keep my Address Book software current. Maybe it is and I have the latest version on my Powerbook.
Before I try it, does anyone know if Address Book Version 5.0.1 (864) will work on a Powerbook? If so, I can just Firewire it over there. For those of you who know the Apple website, could I have found the answers to these questions there? I looked but was unsuccessful.

Address Book 4.1.2 is the version that runs in OS X 10.5.8, the last OS version any Powerbook can run. Your iMac is apparently running Snow Leopard and its later version of Address Book. Because SL requires an Intel processor, I doubt that its version of AB will run on a Powerbook.

  • Address book to google sync  does not work

I use Google apps as my primary calendar and address book. I have them synced to the Mac OS X ical and address book (to use off line). I have the Mac OS X ical and address book synced to mobile me to update other computers and my iphone.
The net result is everything matches the Google apps calendar and address book.
    Well, not so fast.
The calendar does work as expected.
In the Mac OS X address book, the Google sync option does not sync (you can enter in your user name and password fine, it appears to make connection fine, but it does not sync). The mobile me does sync as expected.
It is simple, there is not a lot you can do wrong, it just does not work.
As a work around, I am using Googles over the air sync to iPhone which does work, but that means the mac address book is getting skipped.
When does the checked Synchronize with Google happen in address book? When you open address book? Why does the option only appear if you have an iPhone? How do I get the address book to google sync to work?
    Any ideas?
    thanks
    bob

Mine actually performs the sync, but after a few rounds of syncing, some contacts get deleted, some get their photos removed, some get duplicated, and some get removed from groups. The sync basically puts my address book through a blender. I'm syncing both with MobileMe and Google. Well, that is I tried to. I've decided not to sync with Google since that's what seems to initiate the mess.

  • 2nd Laptop causing Syncing Problem between iPhone, Address Book, and Google

I sync my iPhone with my Macbook Pro at home, which allows me to sync my Address Book with Google. However, since buying a Macbook Air and syncing everything via MobileMe, I no longer can sync with Google. I think I could solve this problem with syncing my iPhone with my Macbook Air, but I don't want to (all my media is on the Pro).
Since Address Book isn't allowing my to sync with Google, several problems have manifested:
    • iChat no longer shows any of my friends (if I try to manually add them they simply show as "off-line" even when they're not).
    • Google Chat no longer shows any of my friends
AIM still works fine in iChat, so this is definitely a Google-Address Book problem.

Never received help, so I gave up.

  • Sync Mac Address Book - multiple Google accounts

I hope this is the right place for this question.
I understand that you can sync the Mac Address Book with Google accounts, but is there a way to sync that Mac Address Book with MULTIPLE Google accounts.
Our scenario is that we have one iMac as our main database, and want to sync it to mine, and my wifes Google account.
    Thanks for any help.

I have found a program called Spanning Sync

It allows for multiple Google syncing

  • Google Contact / Address Book Sync

Google Contact / Address Book Sync is not working for me and I have an iPhone and Leopard, which I thought were the only requirements. I was able to sync my Address Book contacts to Google the first time around, but when I add a new contact to either Google or Address Book, one does not sync to another. Am I missing a piece of software here or is there something I need to do?
I am thinking that possibly this could be because the sync takes a long time and is not instantaneous?

I have achieved a sync but I can't identify what isn't working with mine - I can change some data but not all email/addresses are there in Address Book... which is weird.
I'll try a google forum and see if I can get help and reply.

  • Google Address Book sync

We are brand new to Mac...iMac. I read somewhere in some of these forums that there was an option to sync my Google Address book with the iMac address book. I read that there was a check box to do this under Address Book Preferences, but the only check box I see is MobilMe, Exchange and Yahoo. Looks like the version I'm using is 4.1.1 (699). Was this an older option no longer available? Appreciate any help and time.

  • Sync address book with google

Address book does not give me the option to sync with google like it says on the internet. It says for mobile me, exchange and yahoo only. How do I get the option for google.
My address book version is 4.1.1(699).

This is a problem I am having also. I don't think it has anything to do with having synchronized another device as I can and have my ipod and address book syncing well (no iphone yet).
I'm at address book v 4.1.1 (is that most recent) yet there is no box to tick in address book/preferences to sync my address book with gmail. The options for yahoo, exchange and mobile me snycing are there.
I just ran software update and the mac is fully up to date (or so it says), running osx 10.5.6.
The only thing I can think of is that my address book has some how missed an update? is there a way to check, i.e. find skipped updates?
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Sync Address Book with Google Contacts

    Hi,
recently I am syncing the Mac Address Book and my iPhone with Google Contacts.
If I add a birthday to one of my contacts on my iPhone, the birthday also will be added on Google Contacts. If I sync my Mac Address Book with Google Contacts now, the birthday doesn't show up on my Mac Address Book.
So my birthday calendar in iCal always is empty...
    Any solutions?
    Regards and thanks,
    Mike

    Hi,
Google uses Google Sync to synchronize your contacts with your iOS and OS X. But this, from Jan 30, 2013, is only available to the paid versions of Google Apps (read more on http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2716936).
You can continue to sync on both iOS and OS X using the CardDAV protocol, which, IMHO, is even better.
Follow the instructions in this post: http://support.google.com/mail/answer/2753077?hl=en
Mountain Lion Contacts also supports CardDAV accounts. All you need to do is add the CardDAV account with your account credentials and it will synchronize again.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

  • How to sync Address Book with google contacts (google apps)

    Hi everybody
With Leopard and Snow Leopard I could sync my Address Book with Google Contacts (in google apps). Now with Lion I can't find a way to sync those contacts. I have an iCloud acount for my personal contacst but our company uses Google Apps for sharing the contacts, and I would like to know how can fix that.
    Thank you!

  • Sync Address Book with Google Mail

Since the update to Mac OS X 10.5.3 I expected to sync my Address Book with my Gmail account. But no can do, and I don't know why. Is it just for iPhone users?

There are several ways to do this, but it all depends on whether you prefer a simple solution versus a more technically involved solution. If you're like most non-technical people, I'll assume you prefer the simple solution, so you should check these out and decide which of them you want to use:
Soocial: [www.soocial.com] (currently in closed beta)
    Syncman: [wateree.net]
    GooSync: [www.goosync.com]
    ABGMerge: [homepage.mac.com]
    Spanning Sync: [blog.spanningsync.com]
    BusySync: [blog.busymac.com]
Or, if you want to go with the technical method that involves no money, just skill and patience, read this article: <http://www.zaphu.com/2008/05/29/how-to-enable-mac-address-book-syncing-with-go ogles-gmail-contacts-without-an-iphone-or-mac/>

  • Address Book and Google

    Hey,
I have just set up address book syncing with google, and then set up google to sync my contact to my iPhone,
When i make a change to a contact on google it pushes this straight away (and the other way) which is perfect, but when I plug my iPhone in and hit sync the latest information on google doesn't seem to sync with my address book.
I have checked to see if every thing is set up right, and it seems to be but every isn't fully synced. Is there any way to get it to sync two ways.
I would really like every thing to be synced but i don't want to go over to mobile me as it costs so much and I can't get on me.com at work (stuck with IE 5 at work).
Any help would be good on this contact thing would be grate.
    Jay

If you correctly setup Google Sync to your iPhone then you shouldn't need to plug in your phone. In fact, plugging in your phone wouldn't sync anything because you have it set up to wirelessly sync. So, I'd redo your iPhone sync setup:
