  • Adf-faces-config.xml location

    Is there any way to specify where adf-faces-config.xml is read from? I have all my config files under WEB-INF/conf to avoid cluttering up the base WEB-INF directory. Can I set a context param or something to tell ADF Faces to load the config file from there?
    L.

    Set the javax.faces.CONFIG_FILES param in web.xml.
    <context-param>
    <param-name>javax.faces.CONFIG_FILES</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/adf-faces-config.xml</param-value>
    </context-param>

  • Parse error on adf-faces-config.xml

    When I try to include the "adf-faces-config.xml" I get XML parse errors (see stack trace below). I'm using Jboss. ADF faces works fine, it's just when I try to include ths adf-faces-config.xml in web.xml.
    Anyone sees what is wrong here? The web.xml entry does get read, and it does find the adf-faces-config.xml file mentioned, and it does start to parse. I also know that the config file is OK (I tried several sample files I found on the web, and I even manually verified againt the schema) ...

    I found the "solution" myself.
    You can't actually rfer to adf-faces-config.xml from web-inf.
    I got this info from some website, but that was plain wrong.
    The ad-faces-config.xml location is hardcoded (WEB-INF/ad-faces-config.xml).

  • Localization of adf faces-config.xml

    I have defined my ADF process train component and menu items in my faces-config.xml. The definition has got the label for these components in the faces-config.xml How can I localize these labels so that I can support multiple languages. The managed bean for my process train component is
    <managed-bean>
    <managed-bean-name>customerInfo</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>view.faces.menu.PersonalTrackerMenuItem</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>none</managed-bean-scope>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>viewId</property-name>
    <value>/customerinfo.jsp</value>
    </managed-property>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>label</property-name>
    <value>Customer Information</value>
    </managed-property>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>outcome</property-name>
    <value>guide.customerinfo</value>
    </managed-property>
    </managed-bean>
    I would like to know how to get the Customer Information label from a properties file instead of hardcoding it in the faces-config.xml

    Hi Frank
    Thanks for your response. I understand that we need to use different locales but for this to work all the labels need to be parameterized to the properties file. This is straight forward when it comes to labels in the JSP pages where we load the bundle with
    <f:loadBundle basename="myBundle.myBundle" var="sampleBundle"> and refer to a property as <f:commandButton value="#{sampleBundle.myButtonText}"/> my problem is how to do this when the label I want to parameterize is in the faces-config.xml

  • ADF faces-config.xml file

    Hi ADF gurus,
    I am new to this technology and i have found in oracle developer's guide that "Registering managed beans within the faces-config.xml file is not recommended in a Fusion web application".
    URL : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28271_01/web.1111/e28164/web_getstarted.htm#CACCFIII
    Section: Using a Managed Bean in a Fusion Web Application
    My question is why this?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sharmistha

    If you plan to use the ADF stack there are some enhancements added to the normal faces lifecycle like bounded task flows, pageFlowScope and some additional phases the normal faces lifecaycle doesn't have. This additions are handled in the adcf-config.xml. If you register your beans in the facces-config file they are not managed by the adf stack and therefore can't use the additions.
    So Oracle encourage you to use the adfc-config.xml instead of the faces-config.xml. There are a few special entries which still needed to be made in the faces-config file (e.g. skinning), butin general you use the adfc-config file is you use adf rich faces.

  • How to stop duplicate entry in faces-config.xml?

    hi,
    i am facing a problem during working in WSAD 5.1.2 that whenever i open an existing jsp page in my workbench a duplicate entry of that page is created in the faces-cofig.xml file though the server is stopped. this is no problem during development or testing pahse but whenever i deploy the EAR in application server the pages are not running those have the duplicate entry in faces-config. so is there any way to stop the duplicate entry in the faces-config.xml?
    waiting for your kind reply.

    Hi,
    this message
    com.sun.faces.config.ConfigurationException: CONFIGURATION FAILED! Class com.sun.faces.config.processor.AbstractConfigProcessor can not access a member of class irc.izv.view.handle.MyNavigationHandler with modifiers "public"
    That your implementation doesn't work as the framework can't access one of the member classes. So it finds it well - your code just doesn't work

  • How to draw nice lines in faces-config.xml page flow?

    hi,
    I would like to be able to split the line connecting the pages in any point with a view to "beautifying" the diagram, and perhaps rearranging the flow so it looks more professional. Is that possible and how?
    thanks,

    Shift+Click on any point in the middle of the line and you'll be able to drag that point.

  • Reference faces-config.xml file from java code.

    I would like to reference the navigation rules I have set up in my faces-config.xml file from inside my source code.

    i replaced the "faces-config.oxd_faces" file. it is found under:
    C:\jdevadf\jdev\YourApplication\ViewController\model\public_html\WEB-INF
    if you have an older copy of this file, just replace it, your faces-config.xml file might get moved around, mine took me over an hour to rearrange my page flows but it did the trick.

  • How to specify multiple message bundles in faces-config.xml

    Hi
    I have different properties file which I want to use as message bundle.
    Message.properties
    Help.properties
    When I specify this in faces-config.xml
    <application>
    <message-bundle>/Message</message-bundle>
    <message-bundle>/Help</message-bundle>
    </application>
    and now when I try to use that in my jsp page like this
    <f:loadBundle basename="/Message" var="message"/>
    <f:loadBundle basename="/Help" var="help"/>
    and access any messagestring from those files I can not excess either of them. But when I use only one of them it works fine.
    Am I doing something wrong or I can not do this thing at all??
    Thanks in advance.

    I only specify one properties file in the <application> tag. That one is used for system messages. I have other properties files for labels, and another for just standard app text, so in my faces-config.xml I have something like this:
    <application>
    <message-bundle>message</message-bundle>
    <locale-config>
    <default-locale>en</default-locale>
    </locale-config>
    </application>
    where my message.properties is used for system messages (validation, etc).
    I don't list the other property files there. I have two more that I use, labels_en.properties, and standard_en.properties. Labels are words that have a : at the end or a *: for required fields. Standard are just other words that I use in my application. So on every page that I have, I start out with the following header:
    <html>
    <f:view locale="en_US">
    <head>
    <f:loadBundle basename="label" var="label"/>
    <f:loadBundle basename="standard" var="standard"/>
    <title>

  • The Managed Bean in the faces-config.xml File

    I am still very new to JSF. I am confused about the managed bean.
    For example, I have a button in my web page. A click on this button invokes an action; say, ListAction.java.
    In this ListAction class, I instantiate a business delegate; say, ListPersonnel.java and call a method in this business delegate to return an ArrayList: personnel. Of course, this business delegate goes through facade, DAO, etc. to populate the ArrayList. This ArrayList is a collecation of a JavaBean called PersonnelBean that gets and sets a number of personnel information; such as ssn, name, etc.
    Upon this ArrayList is successfully populated and received by the ListAction class, I am going to display a web page with a table. In JSF, it is <h:dataTable ...>.
    My questions are regarding the managed bean in the faces-config.xml file.
    1. Which one is my <managed-bean-class>? packageName.ListAction? or packageName.PersonnelBean? or something else?
    2. What should be my <managed-bean-name>? I guess that I can give a name I like. Is it right? What about xyz?
    3. Then, how do I specify the "value" attribute of my <h:dataTable ...> tag when I display a web page to show the data table? Is it correct to specify value="#{xyz.personnel}"? What is the correct specification if it is wrong?
    4. I guess that I can give any name to the "var" attribute in the <h:dataTable ...> tag. Is it right?

    1. Which one is my <managed-bean-class>?

    2. What should be my <managed-bean-name>? I guess
    that I can give a name I like. Is it right? What
    about xyz?Anything you like. xyz is OK.
    3. Then, how do I specify the "value" attribute of my
    <h:dataTable ...> tag when I display a web page to
    show the data table? Is it correct to specify
    value="#{xyz.personnel}"? What is the correct
    specification if it is wrong?xyz.personnel is OK assuming that ListAction class has a public
    method getPersonnel() which returns the ArrayList of PersonnellBeans.
    4. I guess that I can give any name to the "var"
    attribute in the <h:dataTable ...> tag. Is it right?Yes, you can give any name you like.
