Adjustment brush in 8.3 is not working???

Upgraded Bridge and camera raw from the adobe creative cloud desktop.  Also upgraded all CS6 apps. Upgrade went smoothly.  Having problem in Camera Raw 8.3.  The problem is with the adjustment brush.  It is not working at all.  I can add a new adjustment, when I make any adjustment there is no adjustment made. Also I cannot see the mask, or cannot toggle mask on and off.  Absolutely no adjustment with adjustment brush.    Running windows 8.
Then I went and paid for the 9.99 subscription.  Downloaded both ps cc, bridge cc and lightroom 5.  Download fine, all apps working fine with both versions installed.  Having same issue with the adjustment brush when using bridge cc to ACR camera raw 8.3.
First time user of lightroom, seems like the adjustment brush inside lightroom will make the adjustment.  I can’t see where to toggle on and off the mask.  I see the “mask:” at top of adjustment panel but nothing next to it or unable to click anything.  I will continue to understand/figure out how the mask works in lightroom.  When I click automask again I dont see a mask??
Any suggestions on why the adjustment brush is not working in 8.3 in both CS6 and CC???
Hope I have explained this well enough?

OH JEEZ!!!  That was it!  It did seem odd that everything worked except the adjustment brush.  Thanks for the help.

  • Adjustment Brush - Full list under Effect not appearing.

Hi, 'am a new user of LR3.2 running on iMac and on Macbook Pro. On my iMac I was able to see the full list of Effects for Adjustment Brush but for the last couple of days I only see top half of the choices i.e., from Exporsure to Color and the bottom half choices i.e., from Burn to Teeth Whitening are not visible.  However, LR3.2 on my Macbook Pro is running fine and shows all the choices. Would appreciate if anyone has any suggestion / solution to my above problem.

gummybear (I like the nick ),
The second half of "Effects" you see in the dropdown are custom created Local Adjustment Presets, which do not seem to be present on both of your machines.
Go to Preferences (Presets tab), and click on "Show Lightroom Presets Folder ...". This will lead you to the lightroom presets folder in finder. Within the LR presets folder, you'll see a folder called "Local Adjustment Presets", in which the custom built presets can be found. Copy those of your iMac to your Macbook Pro.
You could also try clicking on "Restore Local Adjustment Presets" first, but this will not restore Local Adjustment Presets you might have created yourself, just the ones shipped with LR3.2.

  • Adjustment brush bugged? Image areas not brushed over change nevertheless

    Problem:
I used the adjustment brush to brighten up an area in an image (+0.2 exposure). Doing so, a nearby but not connected area and not touched by the brush brightened up as well, going from almost blown out to blown out as shown by the red warning overlay.
    System:
Pentium i5 machine, Windows 7 home premium 64 bit, 8 GB RAM
    Lightroom 3.3 64 bit
    Here are some illustrations:
before applying the brush (note the blue are near the upper edge not yet blown out)
I am applying the brush here (note area marked in red, not touching the blue almost blown out part near the top edge):
And this is what happens to the blue area when applying the brush:
The funny thing is, when I hover the cursor over the brush pin (as in the second picture above), the blue area to the top left is NOT marked blown out (as can be seen in the second picture).
Something strange is going on here. Either the red 'blown out' overlay is not functioning correctly in this situation, or the adjustment brush is bugged. It should obviously not have any effect on areas that have not been brushed over.
    Any thoughts?

Thanks Lee Jay for the quick reply. I did search before posting but apparently have not used the right terms.
It seems this is known for quite a while. Has Adobe made any statement on a workaround or that this is being fixed?
I understand this is something occurring in unusual circumstances only but still, it's a bug....
I think the problem is that they cannot reproduce the issue, hence no fix yet.

  • PSE 11 - Adjustment Layer/Layer Content Options & Menus Not Working

    Good evening to all.
I am using PSE 11, Mac version, updated to the latest version.
I am unable to edit any type of adjustment layer, i.e., hue/saturation, levels, brightness/contrast.
I am able to edit fill layers without any issues.
As a side note, I am also unable to select any of the items under the "Window" menu.
I am attaching a screen capture of the menu that I am talking about.
Thank you very much in advance for any and all your help.

Good evening.  I guess you're correct.  I was just too frustrated to think straight and I guess these are two different issues, so I'll begin with the adjustment layer issue.
I'm attaching several screen captures to show you what I mean by not being able to edit adjustment layers.
This screen would be my original image
This screen shows me adding a new adjustment layer from the "Layer" menu...
In this case, a hue/saturation adjustment layer
As you can see, I have the adjustment layer on right side...  but when I double click on it to edit the layer, nothing happens
Nothing happens when I try to edit the adjustment layer when I try to use "Layer Content Options..." from the menu directly either
So there you have it...  this is where I am stuck at...

  • Brush size/hardness shortcut will not work in CC

I constantly used command-option-drag to change the size and hardness of brushes, but now on CC it moves and duplicates my layer. Is there any way to change this back or is there a new shortcut besides using the brackets?

The keyboard shortcut for brush size should be the same in photoshop cc as in photoshop cs6.
Are you sure your not pressing the Command key instead of the Control key?
Your using a mac or windows keyboard?
You haven't remapped the Modifier keys in the System Preferences>Keyboard>Modifier Keys?

  • Adjustment Brush Intermittently Won't Work

Running a new Mac 27" with 3.06 Intel 2 core, 8 GB RAM, OS 10.6.3, Lightroom 3 (64 bit). The adjustment brush will suddenly stop and start working. Very frustrating!

    infinity,
    Yes, use the Lightroom forum.

Note: never just say "Adobe". It is meaningless unless you add the application name and version.

  • In camera raw, I am no longer able to use the adjustment brush.  This is a recent phenomenon.?

In camera raw, I am no longer able to use the adjustment brush.  This is a recent phenomenon.

Well, it worked fine for me as well for the past couple of years. I had not had any problems using it for the past few years. I use a Mac OS X Yosemite.  As far as I can tell nothing had changed. I had not added any new updates, and a week ago the adjustment brush in camera raw simply ceased working. Everything else in camera raw works.  However, the adjustment brush is a critical tool. I have checked my permissions, and even repaired my permissions with no results.  Of course I have also tried several restarts to no avail.

  • Adjustment Brush edit bug verified by Adobe

Adjustment brush edits that turn off have been acknowledged as a "bug" by Adobe see http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/problem_with_adjustment_brush_tool_i n_adobe_camera_raw Someone on a Mac posted the same problem. From feedback to my post, I had thought it was just a Windows 7 problem.
Problem is more serious than my post on Oct.16. I have discovered it is more than a Preview issue. An Adjustment Brush edit that is (momentarily) not showing in ACR 7.2 or 7.3 will not be carried over to Photoshop when you update the file into PS CS6 as a Smart Object. So you made multiple Adjustment Brush edits (for example Exposure, Highlight and Clarity) only to discover that not all the edits made it to the Photoshop Smart Object.
See original Oct. 16 post to see screen shots provided by Noel Carboni that verify bug. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4792575#4792575 Includes specs of my Windows 7 x64 machine.

Okay, I know I'm just talking to myself here, but I wanted to leave another update. It's not nTune, (at least I don't think that had anything to do with it).
I've come to find that when I have Firefox (v3.01) open, the problem appears. With FF closed, it's gone. No other program that I've tried causes the same issue. And as far as I can tell, FF doesn't cause problems with any other software.
This is a strange problem indeed, but I guess if it comes down to having FF closed while I'm working, so be it.
Anyone have thoughts as to where the conflict is coming from?

  • Pen Pressure not working in Photoshop CS5.1

    Hello,
I've looked at a lot of questions and answers concerning pen pressure in this forum, and I've tried a lot of things to fix this problem. I have a Genius MousePen 6x8 and use Photoshop CS5.1. It's been a while since I used my tablet, but it used to work before. I rebooted my computer a while ago, so I installed the new driver from the Genius website. The tablet is working fine, even the pen pressure, but for some reason it just won't work in Photoshop. I've tried to fix it by resetting the Photoshop settings by using the Ctrl+Shift+Alt, I've reset the brush tool, I've played around with the brush options and nothing has worked.
Here is the image of the pen pressure working:
And here is the image of the settings for the brush and the pen pressure not working:
    Thank you for your time!

Your tablet driver isn't reporting pressure correctly.
The knockoff tablet drivers usually need to be revised for each new version of Photoshop (and we have no idea why).
Contact your tablet maker to see if they have updated drivers to fix their bugs.

  • How can the adjustment brushes in lightroom 3 be fixed?

I have no idea how this works.  The adjustment brush in lightroom 3 has stopped working.  Using a mac.  Customer support said if I pay $39 they might be able to fix the problem, but its better to ask on the forums.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

A quick guess or two, since you haven't really explained the symptoms.
Are your Flow and Density sliders set to something reasonable?
Try hitting the H (for hide) key.
Is the Size slider set to something large enough?
    I'll only charge you $25.

  • Local Adjustment Brush does not work in Windows 7, 64-bit

All other tools and functions work OK.  My issue is just with the Adjustment Brush;  The Adjustment Panel opens when the brush is selected and the brush moves, but none of the adjustments are applied to the image.  The problem is clearly related to the new operating system.  This was just confirmed, by removing the hard drive with the Windows 7, 64-bit OS,  and inserting an old hard drive with Windows Vista, 32-bit installed. The adjustment brush works fine with the old OS and the same version of PS.
My normal monitor resolution is 1920 x 1200 with a DPI of 151; however, this DPI is not compatible with PS, so I reset it to 149 evey time I use PS.  Lower screen resolutions and DPI settings don't resolve the problem. I mention this only because of a previous cursor problem that was resolved by changing the DPI.
I'm using CS4 with Camera Raw version 5.6.  Version 5.5 also does not work.
    Can anyone offer suggestions?

Problem solved.  One of the recent upgrades to Camera Raw reset the flow rate to zero, which I did not notice until after posting the message.
    Sorry for the error.

  • Lightroom 5.5 for Mac Adjustment Brush not working

Hi all, since updating to Lightroom 5.5 for Mac Adjustment Brush has stopped working entirely. I can open the menu and it does display the brush within the menu. When dragging the tool into the image it changes to the mouse arrow which doesn't have any function. Any ideas? Thank you very much for your help. Chris

And- do you actually press or hold down the left-mouse button and drag the cursor on the image? as you would a paint brush. A 'Pin' will appear where you start the brush stroke.
And- Is it possible that you have the switch at the base of the brush panel sliders turned off ?   (The toggle switch on the same line as "Reset" and "Close")
Pressing "O" only turns the overlay mask on/off to give a visual indication 'Where' you have applied the brush.
Pressing "SHIFT+O" changes the colour of the MASK overlay- Red, Green, Grey, Clear
"O" does not affect any editing of the image.

  • Adjustment brush not working on new Mac with Snow Leopard

Just purchased a new computer a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if something is incompatible or something else. I'm can't remember if the brush ever worked on the new machine. Also updated to Snow leopard 16.2 during this period.
I see the adjustment brush and can change it's size and feathering, flow and density are set at 100%, masking is off, it set down control points, but that's it. It makes no visible changes to the image in any mode. If I put exposure at 4 stops and place it on a mid-tone there is no change to the image, either in Lightroom or upon export.
I've run permissions checks, trashed the preferences and repaired the drive with Diskwarrior all to no avail.
Lightroom 2.5, Power Mac 2.66 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon, 6 GB of factory installed memory, Snow Leopard 16.2
Should I try a fresh install of Lightroom??

    Sorry,
My post above should have read Mac Pro. I recently switched and keep getting the names mixed up. Doesn't help that they look the same.
