Admin owner for planning application migration

I'm using the instructions from the following article to migrate a planning application. Migration of Hyperion Planning Application One of the steps is create a new Planning application with the same admin name as the older application. Unfortunatly, I'm not sure of what name was used when the application was originally created. Is there someplace where I can find this information.
Thanks,
Tom

Hi,
Just for your future reference it has been available since version 4.
In 9.2
Select Administration > Application Settings.
From the Show drop-down list, select Advanced Settings.
Click Go.
Select the System Settings tab.
You will see an option "Select User" > The owner will be in the dropdown.
Cheers

  • Unicode mode for Planning applications

Is Unicode mode for Planning applications allowed in 11.1.2.1? If so how do you allow it?
Seems that it is not allowed but the documentation is ambigious, and a search on the forum does not give clear answer.

    Thanks!
But then why does the 8-character limit apply to unicode planning application names?
Shouldn't ticking that checkbox enable longer application names?
What's the limit for unicode Essbase applications, 32 characters? Then one should also be able to give a new unicode planning application a 32 character long name when in the create new planning application dialogue box, given that the data source is 'unicode'.

  • Commands for Planning Applications in WAD?

    Hi all,
Following the developers' guide on 'Business Planning and Analytical Services'  for 2004S we got stuck on assigning custom Commands for Planning Applications in WAD, which were created in the planning wizard.
The option for 'Commands for Planning Applications' does NOT show up in the command wizard!
is there a ABAP/Java stack pre-requisite for this or is there a new(?) authorisation object missing?
Does it helps for others? On which Java Stack?
    Thx,

  • Planning application Migration

    Hi
I referred earlier migration post Migration of Hyperion Planning Application
and come out with one thing related to SID, If the application owner for the target application is different:
Go into the database tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001means i should go to target server schema and copy the SID against user 50001 for later use.
    8. Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001means paste SID against 50001 in target server which i copied in earlier step (after replacing the schema in target server from source schema) (schema are similar at target and source)

These steps are required if the source/target application owner is not the default admin account.
Once you create your blank planning application on the target, go into the table and store the SID.
After you have migrated the schema, go in and then paste the sid your stored above.

  • Removing admin user from planning application

    Hi,
i have a small question that possibly u can answer easily.
in workflow process when users click "change status", at promote and approve "admin" user comes up with in combo-box.
we are sharing shared services with another project team so i dont wanna show "admin" to my users in that list cos i have "plnadmin" as application owner.
by the way "admin" was deprovisioned from planning applications on HSS such that he cannot log-in to planning application. (user doesnot exists for this application message.)
but he still exists in workflow process combo-boxes and "Administration->Application Settings->Assign application Owner" combo-box.
how can i remove him ?
    thx,
    Version: 11.1.1.2

    Hi,
In theory it should remove the admin user if they have been deprovisioned and the application owner assigned to another user. I did a quick check on 11.1.1.3 and it removed the admin user from the workflow and tables.
Maybe it has not removed the user because a workflow was already in progress even though it worked for me.
There are probably a number of ways to try and removing the user e.g. try restart planning service and log into the application to see if it syncs up with shared services (it should do if the property SYNC_USER_ON_LOGON is set to true, which is default for planning)
Try stopping the workflow process and run a refresh, or go to access permissions for a member and click migrate identities to see if it clears the table.
Final stage would be to manually remove from the repository tables.
(sorry if I have not covered all areas, I sure somebody will give you different ideas or repeat what I say)
    Cheers

After i manually configured the production server with Migrated scemas, in configuration i changed the server names with production sever and Database names while configuration ,Hyperion planning datasource names are same in UAT and Production ,i manually edited the server names and Database names, i configured to For EAS ,Shared Services,Planning
Everything configured sucessfully,i am able to log on to application Planning url,and refreshed everything,
But i am logon to EAS console, i tried to create the Business rule with associate Planning Application I am getting this error Connecting to essbase server<server name>:<appname>

  • Essbase and planning applications migration from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.4

    Hi Masters,
I have few Hyperion 11.1.2.1 running servers for Essbase and planning applications (Essbase alone applications and planning applications are running into different servers). Now we are planning to upgrade 11.1.2.1 directly to new 11.1.2.4 servers.
could you guys please suggest me the best way of migrating these applications to 11.1.2.4?
    Thanks a lot,
    Siva

    Hi John,
Actually we are moving all our existing servers to some new data center. the plan is like installing 124 in the new server in the new data center and migrate the existing 121 applications to the 124 servers.
So is there a best way to migrate like i said above? or do we need to install 121 in the new server 1st and migrate the applications from existing 121 servers, then apply maintenance release of 124 would be best way?
    Thanks,
    siva

  • Hyperion Planning applications migration

    Hello,
I'm planning to migrate Hyperion Planning applications in 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.1. What are some of the ways to migrate them? I'm thinking just do a backup of the planning sql database in 11.1.1.3 then create a planning application shell in 11.1.2.1 then restore the backup planning sql database in 11.1.1.3 over the planning sql database in 11.1.2.1. I'm not sure if this will work since the database schemas might change between 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.2.1?
    Thanks.

    Hello Friend,
    The procedure is :
    1. Take Backup(export of schema) of existing schema which you want to migrate.
    2. Create a New Schema(in New/Existing Environment if database differ for PROD/NON-PROD)
    3. Restore the Backup Schema to new schema(Import Backup Schema to new one).
    4. Goto "App Wizard"->"Edit Data Source for that Application" and if you are using Oracle as DB(Change the User) else if you are using MS SQL SERVER as DB(change the Database)
NOTE : Change means you have to replace the New database/Schema with existing one
    5. Restart Planning Services
But BR's do not migrated when you do Schema Restore, for that you have to import and export BR's into EAS.

  • Fetching data is very slow in workspace for planning application

    Hello Everyone,
I am working in the web environment of a planning application and recently I have seen some issue's like Fetching data is very slow through webform's and the system will locking automatically and which kick me off from workspace when I refresh. So could you suggest me like what would be the reason's for this issue's.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Sounds like your form is very large or there are maybe a lot of dynamic calcs on the retrieval. How many rows and columns have you on the form ? Have you dense or sparse dimensions as rows or columns?

  • Java Processes for Planning Applications

    Hi There,
We've experienced performance issues where we have reached the limit of the java process for Hyperion Planning - WAS element. My question! Is it possible to create multiple java processes for Hyperion Planning, for example: If we have 7 Planning applications could we have 7 Java processes running - one for each application?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Couple of thoughts on scaling:
    1. Change the mx setting to 1200m -- this is the most you can scale a single instance on 32-bit
    2. Use a 64-bit platform you can set memory settings really high (AIX/Solaris)
    3. Multiple servers with planning on it using a load balancer

I know there is no hard fast order, but was just wondering as far as a Planning application goes if the 'modified' hourglass setup in the 2nd table is a good starting point for trying to gain some performance efficiencies.

If you are on 11.1.2.2 you don't need to bother about TASKDIMS as it is automatically taken care of. Check this thread CALCTASKDIMS / CALCPARALLEL / Multi - CPU calculation / Performance

  • Questions on Commands for planning application

    Hi,
    1. Where can i get the information on commands for planning functions?
    2. What is the difference between
---Execute planning function simple and -
    Execute planning function
    3. I create planning layout with few buttons
    a. Copy: I clicked on the copy button and can see the data in the layout
    b. Save: Clicked on the save icon, Data saved into the planning cube
    c. Change. : clicked on the change and changed few values and then clicked on SAVE button. Data got saved into my planning cube.
Now I my requirement is when user open the planning layout, It should only be in display mode. But currently automatically all the keyfigures are in change mode (Is it because in query designer, I checked "Start query in the change mode?)
When user opens the planning layout, he should run the copy function, then should save the data into the planning cube and then should be allowed to chagne. Change button should be in active until data is saved into the plannigng cube. IS this possible?
    Thanks
    Annie

    Hi Deepthi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I did as you mentioned and its working as expected.
    User wants something like this
    1. Execute the planning layout.
    2. Click on the copy function
    3. Save the data
    4. Click on the change button so that data can be changed now.
As per your solution, without have change button its working perfectly. But now i want to have change button on the layout. Initially change button should be disabled. When i save the data then it should get active.
I did the following things but didnt work
    1. Save button i have two commands
    a. Save data
    b. Set_item_parameters
    2. Change button> disable>set_data_entry_mode.
After executing the layout. I could copy the data and save it. BUT after saving it change button is not getting active.
I think i did do something in save button (B). I just mentioned button group but didnt mention the change button. Can you please help me?
    Thanks

  • Load balancing URL setup for planning application 11.1.2.1

    Hi Gurus,
There is an existing planning environment with Weblogic/ Oracle HTTP load balancing setup. I just would like to know where would exactly be the generic/ common URL (the URL without actual servername) configured for planning and SmartView?
Is there any properties file (weblogic/ HTTP) where we will mention those details?
    Thanks,
    Siva

I am not sure I get what you are asking but planning can be accessed through workspace or by
    http://<ohs_server>:19000/HyperionPlanning
    and Smart View http://<ohs_server>:19000/workspace/SmartViewProviders
If you want to understand about the configuration you can run a registry report.
    Cheers

  • Correct permissions and owner for restored Applications

    Hello everyone.
I have re-installed some applications from a backup (those which don't require an installer) and some from a previous Time Machine backup of the same unit.
So, to recap, a fresh installation of Snow Leopard, updated to 10.6.5 via Combo update and then re-installed and restored some applications.
However, when checking in Terminal, I now find a mixture of permissions and owner settings, like some applications are owned by root:wheel, some by root:admin and some other by username:admin.
All seem to be chmod'd as 755.
I have run a Permission Repair from Disk Utility, but this still has left the owner of Applications as just described above.
I have tried to search here but I couldn't find anything or perhaps I didn't input the right search string.
    Which settings would you recommend?
I'd appreciate your help and/or any link that could clarify this.
    Thank you.

There is no single set of permissions right for every app. Owner, Group, & Other permissions will vary depending on how they are installed, by whom, & the level of system & user access they require.
If you are not having any issues running the apps, I suggest that you leave things as they are. If you are, it would help a lot if you listed the apps giving you problems, & what those problems are. Also let us know if you have multiple user accounts, more than one admin account, & so on.

  • Is it can grant an admin right for special application ?(No Runas as Administrator)

    Dear All
Background: We have an application which run on users group in server 2000 SP4 is normal.
We want upgrade the OS to Win7 , on the Win7 the application can not launch on normal users group.
I was try the properties of compatibility to server 2000 and choose "Run this program as an administrator" and edit the regedit key permission , both of all is not work on my case.
It is ok right-click the application and runas as administrator, but on the other hand I find runas administrator has some other error with the application.
May I know is it has a method can grant the admin right to special user when running special application ?
    Regards All

    Hi,
What application can not run in Windows 7? I think there is a application compatibility issue, so please attempt to run Program Compability troubleshooter.
Also, you said you got some error while you ran as administrator with runas command. And what are the errors?
    RUNAS /user:<Username> Program
Based on my knowledge, we cannot grant the special user with admin right unless you add this special user to Administrators group. When a special user is running a application requiring administrator permission, it will prompt to input administrator username
    and password.
