Adobe 6 on windows 7

I'm trying to install Adobe Reader 6 On a windows 7 machine and Once installed its giving me errors.
The error message is that C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSVCP100.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
After clicking OK on this message adobe reader 6 boots up but does not have some of the functionality that we've had in the past. Namely being able to add pages onto a pdf document from another pdf document. Combining them essentially.
Please advise on steps to help this . Thanks

Hi michaelsuti,
Since Reader 6 is very old and was never tested with Windows 7, I would suggest that you download the current Acrobat Reader DC from this page: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions.
Best,
Sara

  • Adobe Cloud window and adobe air not showing up or starting even though it is installed, i have tried reinstalling/uninstalling

    I downloaded muse cc 2014. It worked fine for a while (couple of bugs though). Yesterday it would crash whenever it was launched. So i tried to uninstall and re-install. No Luck. Then noticed adobe cloud/adobe air windows were not starting up as per usual on startup and i have been through pc to try to locate and start manually. No Luck with them either, so i have been trying re-download manually, i download the CC exe and try run it from c:drive but no response - not running.
    i have tried a restore and that hasnt helped. I have uninstalled all muse versions but now cant re-download it!?
    where to from here, urgent help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • When I open a pdf file, Firefox opens a blank window, then the file opens in a Adobe Reader window. How can I stop the blank window?

    Whether I am using Firefox 3.6.8 or Thunderbird 3.0.6, clicking on a pdf file opens a new window. After a few seconds the pdf file opens in a separate Adobe Reader window. When I am done with that and close it, I still have to go back and close out the blank window. Got to be a configuration issue some place. I have tried several settings under Tools/Options, but haven't found the right setting yet. Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much for the reply. I followed your instructions. This fixed half of the problem. Links to pdf files that are on web pages now come up with a box that asks if I want to open or save the file, without a blank browser window in the background. That is great.
    When I tested the fix with pdf file links in email, the problem still exists. I tested links in Outlook Express, Yahoo mail, and Gmail. Any time I click on a pdf link in an email, a blank Firefox window opens and then I get the small window that asks me if I want to open or save the file. Sounds like this is a configuration issue, not a technical problem. Thanks for your help.

  • Adobe File Window repeatedly opens on boot-up of PC ??!!!?!

    Hi, I've checked all the posts and don't see this anywhere
    else so here goes.
    I like what I see program-wise BUT, how do I stop the Adobe
    file window opening each time I boot-up my PC?
    This maybe small and insignificant to some but I am beginning
    to find it pretty irritating.
    I boot up and there it is, after usual system tray load-ups
    etc up it pops. The open window displaying the contents of the
    Adobe.com files.
    I have checked the root and it states, correctly as far as I
    can tell, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat.com yep that's where it's
    loaded, but why is it popping-up open on my Desktop open each time
    I boot-up?
    I have checked my preferences and find nothing to invoke
    this, I am definitely sure it isn't open on the Desktop when I shut
    down so how and why is this happening.
    I have never seen this behaviour before with other programs
    and can only assume it's something to do with the Beta version, and
    an Adobe burning desire to keep reminding me that "I'm here!".
    Before I uninstall completely (assuming that will cure this
    narcisstic little annoyance), any suggestions would be most
    welcome.
    Thanks, Rob.

    Hi Dean & Pete thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
    You may well have identified an install problem when you
    asked "did you upgrade to Reader 9 from an earlier version"
    Yes I did, one of the reasons I was bothered by this
    auto-launching of the Acrobat.com file window is because I had just
    completed a total clean install of operating system (XP Pro) onto a
    brand new hard drive and I have been very choosy about what I 'OK'
    for start programs when loading or reloading all my software.
    Adobe Reader version 7 was installed during me loading
    Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus.
    I was aware there were several upgrades to 7 and went along
    to Adobe's site to download the very latest Reader version, this is
    where I discovered Acrobat.com Beta
    Maybe the problem is part of a leap-frog of several versions
    and why that this happens?
    Also, thanks to Dean for a workaround, makes sense and worth
    doing if I couldn't solve the problem, as I really like the look of
    what's developing with Acrobat.com
    The great news is I have found a cure without uninstalling
    anything.
    What I did was go into my startups via System tools/System
    information/Software environment/StartUp Programs and there is an
    'updateMgr' for Adobe reader version 7 and Adobe Acrobat
    Speedlauncher (Type: 'Global')
    Due to the Windows system information appearing not to allow
    me to change any of the settings, I have use a neat little freeware
    program called System Explorer (
    http://systemexplorer.mistergroup.org/
    This has enabled me to easily disable the two Adobe startups
    that seemed to be conflisting and causing the problem, and now
    everything seems back to normal, with no Autolaunch of the
    Acrobat.com file window and total use of Acrobat.com from my
    desktop shortcut.
    Hope this helps others!
    Regards, Rob.

  • How to Print a PDF programmatically without the Adobe Reader Window

    Hi,
    I'm trying to print a PDF my application. I would prefer to do it as silent as possible - no PrintDialogue | Adobe Reader Window.
    Language C#
    Adobe Reader 10.0
    Here´s some Code:
    public static void PrintPDF(string file, string printerName)
    Process proc = new Process();
    proc.StartInfo.FileName = @"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe";
    proc.StartInfo.Arguments = @" /t /h " + "\"" + file + "\"" + " " + "\"" + printerName + "\"";
    proc.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = true;
    proc.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
    proc.Start();
    Thread.Sleep(1000);
    proc.WaitForInputIdle();
    proc.Kill();
    It works, but the Adobe Reader Window is still popping up -> /h (start the reader minimized) does not work.
    Is there another way to hide the Window ?
    Regards

    Hi,
    I am developing an application, which have to support a PDF print. My result after searching for the best possibilities is this snippet:
    public static void PrintPDF(string path, string printer)
    Process process = new Process();
    process.StartInfo.FileName = path;
    process.StartInfo.Verb = "printto";
    process.StartInfo.Arguments = "\"" + printerName + "\"";
    process.Start();
    // I have to use this in case of Adobe Reader to close the window
    process.WaitForInputIdle();
    process.Kill();
    This is the most generic solution - it prints a pdf unless no matter wich reader is installed.
    Only deficit - the Adobe Reader window still pops up. Why it does not behave like it´s alternatives (for example Foxit Reader) and print the PDF without popping up ?

  • Adobe AIR Windows app instance control

    Hello!
    I´have an old Adobe AIR Windows app. How can I prevent multiple instances of the app. For example one user account launches the app on login, then on a user switch a new instance is started. I want only one instance of the app running. I come up with an idéa of creating a .lock file that is created on start and deleted on app close. But what happens if the power of the computer is removed? Then the .lock file is present and the app can´t launch again. Any idéas?

    Are you certain that the previous users instance of the app is still running when that user is logged out? Unless Adobe has changed how AIR works in recent years, AIR is built to only allow one instance of the application to be running. In fact, that has been a complaint by some people who figured out how to get around that limitation so they could have multiple instances of the app running at once.

  • Open Adobe Reader window in BSP

    Hello,
    From our BSP application, I was able to generate PDF form and open a Adobe reader window with the form in it, but after the reader window open, I lose the control for oringal BSP application, the IE windows of BSP application is hanging there, without any response.
    Thanks in advance for help!  Here is my implementation:
    1) Our BSP application is within CRM IC framework (based on BSP)
    2) I created a new BSP page with flow logic with MIME type application/pdf
    3) A button trigger page navigation from default.do to new BSP page
    4) In OnInitialization event of new BSP page: I code to generate PDF form and open the PDF window:
      call method response->set_content_type
        EXPORTING
          content_type = 'application/pdf'.
      response->set_header_field(
                        name  = 'content-disposition'
                        value = 'attachment; filename=Act_Printing.pdf' ).
    finally display PDF format in Browser
      l_pdf_len = xstrlen( l_xstring ).
      response->set_data( data   = output-pdf
                                   length = l_pdf_len ).
    ***Up to now: a new adobe reader window is opened , but the oringal BSP window lose the control.
    If I add extra code to navigate to default.do as below, I did get control of the BSP window BUT the adobe reader window does not open at all:
    Navigate to default.do
      navigation->next_page( 'BACK_TO_CONTROL' ).
    navigation->next_page( 'BACK_TO_CONTROL' ).

    Thanks Durairaj  !
    I tried navigation->response_complete( ), but it does not change the system behaviour, the same problem is still there.
    Any idea?

  • "Help improve Adobe products" window crashes Photoshop CS6

    Most od the times when I try to open a Photoshop CS6 file (MacBook Pro Retina, Mac OS 10.8.3) and the "Help improve Adobe products" window shows up, no matter if I press the "Do not participate" or "participate" button, the program opens but all tghe menu items appear in gray or the program crashes

    Same problem here, can no longer use Photoshop. Have never installed MacKeeper or MacCleaner which are named as culprits in other threads.
    Macbook Pro C2D 2.4ghz with 4GB ram, used to work fine.

  • Adobe illustrator window gets minimized when saving custom file type.

    I had created a new file type . When I try to save a document in the newly created file type the Adobe illustrator window gets minimized (restored).

    I tried ringing Adobe and after creating a new user account on my system and logging into that, I was then able to use illustrator. This is okay but not ideal as I don't want to have to switch between accounts each time I want to access my files. Any ideas on how to solve this? I have tried uninstalling and deleting preference files again but still the same problem...?

  • While playing this media clip: Adobe's Windows built in media player cannot play this

    I downloaded a PDF file about a week ago and am stumped on how i can make it play. it is a PDF with audio clips to help learn a language. the file opens fine but whenever i click the audio it says "acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip: Adobe's Windows built in media player cannot play this format as the required decoder is not installed on the system. " i googled and came to a few differrent threads on this site, someone said they resolved it with quicktime, so i got quicktime... no use. then someone else said its a problem with "legacy media" and id have to go into my preferences in adobe and allow it, i didnt see an option to "allow" but i saw one where i could pick how i wanted to play it (quicktime, windows built in, windows media player, and i think one more) i tried with all of them and still no luck. i really .want this file to play, but since i am not tech savvy, i am stumped as what i can do next. please help

    What is your operating system & version?
    What is your Reader version?
    Do you have any Codecs installed on your system?

  • Error: Adobe's Windows build-in player cannot play

    I get the following error in an Adobe Reader PDF when trying to click on an audio icon to read. I've searched this forum and Google to no avail. Adobe Reader X on Windows XP SP3 x86.
    [[ Warning: JavaScript Window -
    Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip:
    Adobe's Windows build-in player cannot play this format as the required decoder is not installed on the system. ]]

    Hi,
    I had this problem. I had it corrected by simply Uninstalling Adobe Reader X and installing Adobe Reader 8. Then I went through the audio files, and they were working.
    After that I uninstalled Adobe Reader 8 and reinstalled Adobe Reader X. The audio was working.

  • Problematikk: Adobe Reader/ Windows 8 med skjermstørrelse 11.7

    Hei forum!
