Adobe 8.1.2 trouble printing map

I'm trying to print a USGS map 7 1/2 minute series. The map is 21.6 x 27.1 inches, but I can only print on 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
How do I get Adobe to tell the printer to print the map in sections so I can piece the papers together and have an accurate to scale map?

I have a similar problem. In my application we generate a pdf. My client is french and has a french Adobe Reader version. When he opens the pdf in the browser then click the print button, he gets "impossible to print the document" error. But if he saves it on his computer and then print it, it works.
This happens randomly, some times its printed and sometimes it gives error. Please suggest what can be the problem, does it has something to do withthe Adobe Reader version?

  • MS office 2008 now crashing when we try to print. No changes to computer; same old software. New printer 9 months ago, no trouble printing until last month. Other programs (adobe, mac) print fine. What can I try?

I have an iMac from 2009. It's running OSX 10.6.8 and we've used MS Office 2008 for Mac all along without any trouble.  We replaced our printer 8 or 9 months ago, and we've had no trouble printing from any program until the last several weeks. Now, when we try to print ONLY from word or excel, the print window appears, but then the spinning rainbow comes up, followed by a Microsoft crash message: "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I tried to trick it into making a PDF, but the crash comes too fast. The only change to our entire Mac ecosystem is the following: We also have a Macbook Pro that has the 2nd allowed installation of the same MS Office 2008 for Mac. Due to liquid damage 6 weeks ago, that computer was replaced and all of the data and applications were moved from the dead one to the new one. Could this possibly be because microsoft detects a "third" computer "using" its software? I'm guessing no because I've seen several threads about problems similar to mine, and none mention licensing issues. In terms of troubleshooting, I've shut down, unplugged, restarted and tried newly created docs as well as old ones. Same results, no matter what.

  • Printing a PDF in Adobe Reader  v8 does not print watermark

In our office we have PDFs created with Adobe Acrobat Professional version 7 that have a lighten watermark which say "confidential". These PDF documents print fine with Adobe Reader 7.0.8. Our office has now converted to Adobe Reader 8.1.1. When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader v8.1.1 the watermark displays on the screen but when you print the document the document prints without the watermark.
I have checked the knowledge base and can't find this issue. The document has no trouble printing, it just doesn't display the watermark. I have tested Adobe Reader versions 8.0, 8.1.1 and the new version 8.1.2 all display the watermark when you open the Reader, but none of them print the watermark. I have gone back and verify and the watermark does print on Adobe Reader v7.0.8.
If anyone has a similar issue or solution please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Mary Mendoza

I have the same problem. The watermark does not print out even though I can see it in the print preview. Anybody...?

  • A user is having trouble printing. Print jobs take FOREVER when they used to speed through

A user is having trouble printing. Print jobs take FOREVER when they used to speed through (despite linked images, etc)
These are just some notes from our troubleshooting:
User was trying to print out InDesign document however during the flattening phase, the computer would stall and would not print out the document.
The document does not print out using double sided or single sided.
The first time I went out, all I did was a system restore and uninstalled mcafee security plus because we're on a university network and sometimes the firewall blocks network printing, and that worked. She tried to print again later and it went back to taking 30 minutes for a print job of about 19 pages. These print jobs used to take about 5 minutes at the most to print entirely, but they queued up immediately, versus now, it takes about 5 minutes just to get to the printer.
Further troubleshooting that I did on a separate day:
Printer was printing fine in November - problem started at some point this month (December)
Printing is fine elsewhere, including in Adobe Acrobat
I was able to print one page just fine - it had no images (tried to print the same page later, took forever)
Some of the images are very large (100MB+) photoshop files (again, they were there before and it printed fine) - these images are linked (with no link errors)
She prints to a network printer, but there's no firewall on (again, printing is fine elsewhere)
She's essentially printing with the default settings, she just centers her print, instead of the default layout.
Now even printing with the default print set (not changing any print settings at all) doesn't work. Jobs take 30 minutes. I can't figure out if it's file specific or where the problem is. Since she has no custom settings, my next option is to just do an uninstall and reinstall, but I'm worried that the problem will still be there. I was starting to think that maybe the file is just so corrupted from all the force quits that that's causing the problem, but... I'm running out of solutions.
    Any help?

I have only worked doing layout for one business in my past. In that job our department would sometimes experience slowdown in printing from time to time. However, we began to see extreme slowdowns over a month period. It was finally tracked down to two things. One was something about the RAID array going bonkers. The other was some of the CAT cabling going bad. It only affected large print jobs and copying large files through the network. Even so, it was not 100% of the time. Sometimes things went along smoothly.
Point is, have your IT people been invited in to experience the issue and see if anything in the network is causing at least latency issues?
    Take care, Mike

  • Adobe Reader Update causes weird printing issues

I recently updated my Adobe Reader to Adobe Reader X. I have a Toshiba with Windows 7 68-bit I believe. After updating to Reader X, I noticed that when I go to print a document, the print settings in Adobe are default set to Print on both sides. I was only printing 1 page so I ignored this and just hit Print, but what happened was really bizarre. The printer printed a blank 2nd page, and then Adobe prompted me to reset my even-numbered pages in the printer to proceed with double-sided printing. If I uncheck the Print on both sides option, I have no problems, everything prints fine. I understand there's already attention called to the bug in the update that defaults the print settings to Print on both sides and has trouble saving new settings. I don't care about that. This is what bothers me: Adobe and the computer and the printer and whatever else is involved should be able to communicate properly that if only 1 page is being printed, it need not print a 2nd blank page and basically force me through the double-sided print process if there's only 1 page, right? Isn't that sort of common sense? I don't mind having to uncheck the Print on both sides option when I go to print just 1 page, but it seems ridiculous to me that I should have to.
Just so you know, I installed the same Adobe Reader X update on a much older computer with a much older printer and had the same problem.
I am wondering if this is an Adobe problem or a printer problem. Neither of the 2 printers I tried this on do doulbe-sided printing automatically. They both require manual help to print on both sides. Will printers that automatically do double-sided printing also send the page through twice even if there is no 2nd page? Then this probably wouldn't be such an issue, if the printer did the double-sided printing itself, I wouldn't care if it passed the paper through twice.
But given that not all printers are equipped with automatic double-sided printing, this then becomes a real pain if I forget to uncheck the Print on both sides button because I then have to go through this entire 2-page process for 1 page. And my printer is in a common area, not right next to my computer, so it adds a lot of back and forth trying to print just 1 page.
Also I read up on previous posts about the default Print on both sides setting, and read one employee's comment that Adobe simply retains the last default setting used for printing PDFs. This is not true. Since my printer at home does not do automatic double-sided printing, I never ever ever use any double-sided printing setting. Even when I do print on both sides, I print odd pages first, flip them over and reset them in the printer, then send a second separate job to print even pages. Same with my work printer. I understand that by defaulting to the double-sided print setting, Adobe is sort of tricking you into saving paper and that's great and all, but all printers don't do double-sided printing automatically. I ended up wasting double the amount of paper last night trying to print a document last night while figuring this out, so way to go.

    Dear user,
We would request you to check your version from Help-> 'About Adobe Reader X' because we doubt that you are using an outdated version of Reader. Please update it to 10.1.3 because it was a known issue in 10.1.2 which got fixed by 10.1.3.
I would also request you to check your printer side setting from Control Panel-> Devices and Printers-> Right click Printer-> Printing Preferences-> Search for 'Print on both side or duplex printing' option (generally its under 'Finishing' tab)-> Uncheck it there if you are not using it.
Hope this will resolve your problem. Let us know the result.
    Thanks

  • Trouble printing landscape PDF

I am having difficulty printing a pdf document that is in a landscape orientation. The first page prints correctly, but subsequent pages either print lower and to the left on the page or they print in a reduced size and to the lower left. I am able to duplicate this issue in both Adobe Acrobat 11.0.05 as well as Adobe Reader. I do not have the issue if I print using Preview on Mac OS X. I am using Acrobat and Reader on Windows 7, 32 bit.

Some of docs are not created by me but are available as studies on
websites. On our docs, we import into InDesign. No, it does not print
correctly if I select landscape rather than auto. And sometimes I select a
page range to print and the command is ignored and prints the entire doc.

  • Adobe Reader X stuck on "print to file"

I have a problem with Adobe Reader 10.1.0 not saving my print settings after I close it.  I am running Windows Vista and trying to print to a RICOH printer/scanner/copier machine.  I checked "Print to file" by accident once and tried to print, and now every time I open Adobe Reader and try to print something, I have to uncheck "Print to file."  It is also stuck on "Print as image."  I have tried restoring the default settings on the printer, changing the default printer, and repairing the installation.  Checking and unchecking "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" doesn't make a difference.
Has anyone else had this problem?  Is there a way to change the default so that "print to file" and "print as image" remain unchecked?  Thanks!

I just fixed this issue. Running Adobe Reader X on Win7 x64 Enterprise.
Locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\PrefsDialog and modify the key "aLastPrefsPanel" to say "Display". I found on the troubled PC it was set to "Startup"
In your cases running 10.1 the registry path may be "10.1" rather than "10.0"
    That should do the trick.

  • I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  It is a new printer and it has been replaced because we thought it was the printer.  Basically, when I print from Excel, only color will print.

I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  We have replaced the printer and we are still having the same problem.  When I try to print from Excel, only the color prints.  Any suggestions?

  • Adobe Reader 9.3.1 prints incorrectly in Windows 7 x64 - HELP

Adobe Reader 9.3.1 PDF document pages at half size and rotated 90 degrees.  If I set "Print as Image" under the Advanced print options, it does print correctly, although the resolution isn't very good.  This happens on several documents (stand alone files and from Internet Explorer both).  I am running Windows 7 64 bit.
On my Vista 32 bit system, Adobe Reader 9.3.1 prints the same documents correctly on the same printer.
Has anyone heard of this problem?  Is there a solution?

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader's slow printing

I had this same problem with Tiger when I first got a printer server for my printer (HP Laserjet 1200) but I fixed it by selecting another driver. Basically what happens is that takes like 5 minutes to print the first page, and after the first page it stops and waits a few minutes to print the next page. This only happens for Adobe Acrobat Reader but it prints like normal on Preview and Office. I've tired selecting other drivers, another protocols (Appletalk, IP, Windows), removing and adding the printer again, updating and downgrading drivers, but nothing seems to work.
My little brother (on a iMac 20" Intel Core 2 Duo and Leopard) also has the same problem.
Does anyone else have the same problem or knows how to fix this?

Adobe indicates that Adobe Reader 8.1.1 requires an update to be fully compatible with OS X 10.5. They are estimating the update will be ready in January, 2008. See http://www.adobe.com/go/leopardfaq They do not indicate what conflicts there are.

  • Partial printing only from Adobe Reader via Server 2008 print spooler

    Hi there,
We've recently set up a new print server for our school. It's running Windows Server 2008 (not R2) 32 bit. We have 8 printers, which are all HP LaserJet P2035n.
All printing works fine, except for PDF files from Adobe Reader. PDF files from Adobe Reader go through the print server with no visible errors, however they print strangely.
Often there will be a blank page at the start. Generally they will not print all pages (e.g. 4/10 or so) and they will cause the printer to error.
We do not get this problem using other PDF readers or with the Google Chrome PDF plugin.
Could you please provide some troubleshooting steps? Based on elimination, it seems to be something to do with the way Adobe Reader communicates with either the print server or the printer, causing some type of malformed request.
    Thanks,
    Andrew
