Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has stopped working

I have just downloaded and installed adobe acrobat 9.0 on a Windows Server 2008. Installl process went find. When starting the program it eventually wil give me the error "Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has stopped working". I get an option to find a solution on the net or shut down. This is a 64 bit system.

To go along with Michael's suggestion, something like AA9.2 is needed for X64 systems I think. Also, be careful. Acrobat is not licensed for use on a server. Using it as a user is fine, but not as a server application. Read the license carefully.

  • How do I fix:  "Adobe acrobat 9.5 has stopped working"

Whenever I try to open a file using Adobe Acrobat 9.5, I get the message:  "Adobe acrobat 9.5 has stopped working"  "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Please close the program".  Acrobat reader 9.5 appears to work fine.  I am also having problems when opening PDF files from the internet using Internet Explorer.  If I try to open a PDF file with Internet Explorer I get and error message Box which says:  "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtimr Error! - Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe - R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. - Please contact the application's support team for more information."  Then when I click OK, I get the following in IE:  "Interner Explorer has closed this web page to help protect your computer - A malfaunction or malicious add-on has cause Internet Explorer to close this webpage. - More Information - Windows Data Execution Prevention detected an add-on trying to use system memory incorrectly. This can be caused by a malfunction or a malicious add-on.  Other things you can do:  Go online to learn about the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) security feature".  I am running Windows 7 Pro version 6.1 (Build 7601, Service pack 1) and Internet Explorer 8 version8.0.7601.17514 and Adobe Acrobat 9.5 Standard.  I would give you the version but I can't keep the program open long enough to check that.  Please HELP I need Acrobat working on this computer.

Reader is not Acrobat, but I got the gist. To try to resolve the issue, open Acrobat and go to Help>Repair. Hopefully that will fix the problem.
The C++ library sometimes gets messed up and has to be reloaded. That would have to be done by way of MS.
After the repair, I would strongly recommend going back to Help>Check for Updates and install updates in order. Since you did not mention updates, I suspect you are running 9.0.0. Also, you did not mention your OS level as 32 or 64-bit. If it is a 64-bit system, you need to run the updates for AA9 to work properly.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 has stopped working

After a couple of years, message comes up informing me that I cannot use and should uninstall and re-install or contact Adobe Customer Support.  Have tried the uninstall/re-install avenuse without success.  Does anyone have any idea.  Acrobat 9 is installed as part of Creative Suite 4.

I'm getting the same message -- precisely it says:
You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help.
It used to work, not sure when it stopped and why.

  • My Adobe Acrobat X (CS6) suddenly stopped working!

My Adobe Acrobat X (CS6) suddenly stopped working, I can't open or edit documents.  I am on Windows 8.1, this just started happening yesterday. I have re-installed it to repair any possible problems, I am a registered user. Please help me!! Can't submit my assignments if I can't use my product!

The license info would be on the jewel case or CD that you got from the university. If it was downloaded, they typically provide the license key in that process that you have to write down or copy. As long as you are still covered under the license, maybe another individual has the license key available. It would be appropriate for them to ask for confirmation on your payment of the license fee or whatever process the university has.
In the meantime, go to the Start>Control Panel>Programs & ... When the program list comes up search for Acrobat.exe and do a repair.

As the crash report says - your outdated video card driver is crashing. You need to update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website (AMD/ATI in this case).

  • Windows 8 - Photoshop CS5.1 crashes upon startup. Error message: "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 has stopped working.A problem caused by the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

    Hello!
I've had the student version of the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium software for several years now.
When I received my Windows 8 computer I installed the software with no issue.
Last week when I tried opening Photoshop I get the following error: "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 has stopped working.A problem caused by the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I deactivated and uninstalled the entire Creative Suite then reinstalled it. I am able to open the other programs, but still receive the same message for Photoshop.
    What can I do?

I found the issue was with the Nik Filters I was using. The filters were messing with Photoshop's initializing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the filters and now Photoshop works like a charm.
It appears this forum is dead?!
Thankfully, I was able to troubleshoot on my own and figured out the problem...

    Hi Noel,
I'm wondering whether your comment addressed to Lmono was intended for me Tmono.
You ask: "So why didn't you provide the same?"
It just didn't occur to me to do so.
My intent was to report that there was at least one other user encountering a similar problem.  It occurred to me that Adobe might be interested in determining the scale of a problem which causes one of  their best known products to fail to run quite so completely after a clean install
I also see that I misreported the OS I'm running - its Windows 8.
If there is further information I can provide which might be helpful in determining a solution, if someone could be specific about what would be helpful, then I will try to respond appropriately.

The X230 has Intel HD 4000 graphics support built in to the processor.  Windows was pretty stubborn about refusing driver updates, but I just managed to get drivers from the Intel site to install and Photoshop is now running, so hopefully I need not try your patience any further.
In case anyone else has a similar problem and stumbles on this the way to install the driver that worked was to:
    - download the zip version of the generic driver from Intel
    - use the 'have disk' option in the windows dialog to install the driver - other paths in the UI did not work with windows refusing to install the driver.

  • Adobe Extension Manager CC Has Stopped Working - Anyone having the same issue? Please help.

This is part of a paid subscription but it has stopped working.
I have re-installed but no dice, says the same thing.
Any ideas as to what the problem is?

I can certainly give you details relating to my problem. I downloaded jsp support for Dreamweaver. I am attempting to install the extension and Adobe Extension Manager CC instantly crashes, providing the popup message stating,
"Adobe Extension Manager CC has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program.
    ->Close the program"
Pretty vague if you ask me, but quite typical for Adobe.

  • Adobe InDesign CC 2014 has stopped working

So...I am trying to help our Marketing Manager with some problems with Adobe InDesign CC 2014. On startup of the program, more often than not it comes up with:
Adobe InDesign CC 2014 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Windows doesn't do anything.
We have tried refreshing the preference folders as dictated by other members. No joy. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the whole Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
On occasion, InDesign does start up and there is a problem with text boxes. When a text box is moved or resized, copied, the text in the box disappears. It will only return if you select the text tool and hover over the box. It is not to do with snapping to grid lines, etc.
Can someone please advise on what we should do?

  • Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working

When ever I launch Photoshop CC 2014 I get the message Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working and then the program closes.  I happens about 5 seconds after I open the program.  I just downloaded yesterday and have not been able to use it at all. Any Ideas?
Windows computer - all other Adobe CC products are working fine

I'm having exactly the same issue. I have no idea how to check out the video card. I'm an artist and incredibly technically handicapped. This is happening on my Brand New Cintiq Companion with windows 8.1. Cant think anything could be out of date already? If someone could post a step by step process to resolving the issue for someone like myself who doesn't know where to start that would be greatly appreciated. I have read the whole thread but still feel nervous to proceed with any rearranging.
"Adobe support indicated that igdfcl64.dll from my Intel's graphics card was causing the issue. After updating the card and nothing changed I did some more research. Searched info about the driver and found out it needed to be copied to windows\sysWOW64 folder. "
I'd like to follow the above advice but if possible some more info would be appreciated.

  • Adobe CEP Service Manager has stopped working

I had repeated problems installing Creative Cloud for the desktop, after it asked me to upgrade.
After renaming OOBE and using the cleaning tool several times, i got Creative Cloud to finally install.
But when I tried to run it, I get "Adobe CEP Service Manager has stopped working".

Does right click run and Administrator when launching the Creative Cloud for desktop make any difference?

  • Infuriating 'Adobe InDesign CC 2014 has stopped working error' has lost me a day. Just got dumped by chat support...

    Hi All,
I've taken a few deep breaths before writing this to try and avoid a hugely frustrated rant.
To summarise; since early this morning my previously healthy version of InDesign CC 2014 has been unable to open, crashing at the 'Executing startup services...' stage with the error message 'Adobe InDesign CC 2014 has stopped working'. I worked on it all day yesterday and use it extensively every day more or less, this problem came out of nowhere overnight. I didn't do any kind of system update in the interim period. I'm using a HP Envy dv7 Notebook PC running Windows 8.
I tried as much as I could based on my own very limited knowledge and some forum searching. I re-installed the software. Did that again using the Adobe CC cleaner .exe file in between un-install and re-install. I uninstalled older versions of the software (which all worked fine - as does the rest of the Creative Suite software I have installed. I deleted extensions. None of this helped.
I then went looking for Adobe support and got a guy via Adobe's chat controlling my PC from afar and trying some much deeper technical stuff. After two hours he said that it was an OS issue, sorry... after a bit of dismayed pleading he said OK, I'll try one more thing and made me a new user with administration power, told me to login in to that account and try again. I did, it worked! But it's still broken on my main account and he disconnected in the few minutes I was gone and I now seem to be frozen out of chat help. HELP!
What does this mean? All CS/CC software seems to be working fine on my normal account apart from InDesign CC 2014. I have a huge file, now very close to being overdue, which I was working on in 2014 CC and can't be opened by older versions. The software works on this other account - so I guess I can work there short term. But how do I get it fixed on my main account?
Hopefully someone out there has the answer?
    Thanks!
    Luke

First, see Replace Your Preferences and do it for the original account.
If that fails to solve the problem, rename the two Adobe folders that contain the prefs in the user profile for that account and copy the folders from the new account where it works. You want to be sure you copy the folders, rather than merge the contents, so you must rename the old folders first.
