Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Stopped working correctly
I have a legal licensed version of Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard that has worked fine for several years. Suddenly and possibly after one of the not so helpful updates, I can no longer delete, insert or extract pages. The delete option shows but is grayed out and the other options do not even show as a possibility anymore. I tried: repair, reinstall, deleting all version and reinstalling but nothing has helped. I truly need this function. Contact with Adobe directly and there answer was "ask someone who can help" (ok a paraphrase for sure but basically they said go ask the community). Nice right? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
They never responded and I found no thread providing me with a fix. I wound up having to pay for the newest version.

Adobe Acrobat Standard Stops Working after Update
I have Windows 7. I purchased Adobe Design Standard including Adobe Acrobat Pro. It worked for a while, then one update, it stopped working. If I click on a PDF, nothing happens. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and then it works, then it will randomly stop working again (I believe after updates) and I keep having to uninstall and reinstall that program to get it to work, which is a real pain. Why is this happening? For such an expensive piece of software, I'm getting quite irritated with this and hope I can find a solution.
Instead of reinstalling, just do a repair. When the PDF does not open you are assuming Acrobat is at fault rather than something being messed up in your OS. First, open Acrobat from the start menu (I have no idea what OS you are using). The from the file menu open a PDF. I assume this works.
Next try to right click on the PDF and select Open With, selecting Acrobat. If it opens then, then the problem is that your file associations are getting messed up -- probably by another program or you OS system updates. -
I am on a Windows 7 OS attempting to reduce pdf size with my Adobe Acrobat Standard XI & Pro. The application keeps timing out and at the Subsetting embedded fonts portion and the application gives "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working" and then closes. The document is 275 pages. Is there something I can do to stop this?

Since when are you facing this issue? Did you tried system restore to a date before this problem occured.
Does acrobat stop working when you open this specific pdf file or with any pdf file that you open?

This happens at a variety of times. Sometimes while scanning sometimes while bookmarking sometimes while adding pages from a file.
What I have done is made sure the program was up to date, a repair install, updated scanner drivers, replace the scanner with a different model, made sure the workstation was current with MS patches. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

BradThanks for the reply. Sorry I wasn't clear the version is XI standard. And I did check for updates. The program is current. Still a few times a day the program will crash and my user will have to start over again on the document she is working on. Very frustrating for her and me.

I've had Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for some time, but yesterday it stopped working and I started having an 'Adobe Acrobat has stopped working' error. It then tells me to Close the Program.

OS is Windows 7 Pro, Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.07.
I went into the Properties file where I identified that Users only had Read & Execute and Read properties, I changed properties for Everyone to Full Control. That fixed the problem.
I don't know how the properties got changed to just Read & Execute, but there had been an automatic update the night before.

Provide you have Acrobat 9 installed in an OS for which Acrobat 9 is compatible then you can use the functionality.
As well, you need a scanner connected, powered up, and the software installed. Acrobat 9 "prefers" TWAIN drivers.
Always visit the scanner vendor's site and download - install the latest greatest software.
n.b., The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year 2013.
As well the Acrobat 9.x product family is not compatible with contemporary OSs.

Error message "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working"
I just upgrade to Acrobat 9 Std. I am running windows vista. When I open Acrobat and try to create a PDF I receive a message "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working" then another one "Windos will close the program and notify you for a solution", What shoul I do ???????

Adobe Acrobat X Pro - Error Message : "Adobe Acrobat Has Stopped Working"
I use Windows 7 - 64bit / CS6 Master Collection that has Adobe Acrobat x Pro.
When the computer is on for a little while, Acrobat would generate the error message that it has stopped working and then shuts down. Once that error message occurs, I cannot get Acrobat to stay open. It opens the PDF document, stays open for a few seconds then the error message occurs and it shuts down.
What helps for a short term is to restart the computer. This seems to temporarily remove the error until the computer is on for a while then the error returns.
This problem repeats. Product repair feature does not work. This has nothing to do with the license, I tried that fix and it made no differnce. I do not have this issue with other Adobe products included in the master collection.
It seems fruitless and frustrating to send a message to Adobe Support, the run around with pages and links is like smacking walls on every turn, it is obvious Adobe does not want people contacting their support. Service from Adobe for their products is poor.
I hope that someone here has the answer to the problem. Anyone?Ok, here is the update.
The link: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/acrobat-failed-launch-30-days.html , leads to a webpage that says to download a fix ZIP file named: "Acrofix.ZIP". It contains the file "acrofix.exe".
I did use this "exe" file about 2 months ago and it did nothing to fix the issue. I used it again today, because the same issue of "Adobe Acorbat has stopped working", occurred again and again it did not work, the problem of "Adobe Acrobat stopped working" presists. Again the only work around, which is temporary, is to reboot the computer.

starting yesterday , the adobe acrobat in my workplace pc stopped working whenever i try to print something. this problem really troubles me and my work.. please help if someone have the solutions.
O.k. Jacob, I’ll take your word for it. But I know there have been problems saving Word files on Windows.
If you Save As before you Save it somehow messes up the file directory and produces a never-ending series of error reports.
I have got around the problem by copying the text to a new file and making sure to Save the first time.
Then Cancel on the first file, whereupon it seems to relegate itself to the memory hole.
Normally I work on a Mac though. Never had any problems like that there, except that you’re not allowed to use colons in file names.
Accented letters have been known to misread in linked files and are best avoided. Ý and ý are known culprits. -
Adobe Acrobat has stopped working error
Just installed Acrobat on my Win 8.1 machine and it continually crashes and stops working. Sometimes it will crash after 20 mins other times after 30 seconds. Just looking for some direction.
Acobat X Pro. I have read some information about an issue after about 30 days where the program will not launch put this doesn't seem to be the same issue.

Good day. I need some help... I just installed a new computer and I had to download Acrobat to my system. I have a paid subscription that I have not been able to use for a month because I keep getting the above error message. I have also placed below the "problem signature." I have uninstalled the program, rebooted my system, re installed the program as a "trial" and still can't get any where. My level of frustration is climbing... Is there anyone who has the answer?
