Adobe Acrobat Professional/LiveCycle Security

I am shopping for a good form tool, and have tried using Adobe Acrobat and LiveCycle.  However I ran into one critical failure: you can't password protect a document from content editing while still leaving it open for document assembly.  So if people need to assemble custom form packages from a pre-set group of forms, they must be given access to also change the form content.  My company is far too large for this model to work.
Is there any possibility of increasing the level of security customization within the next two years?   Alternately, is there any other recommended form software that succeeds where Adobe fails?  Or did I just miss something?

The key problem is that assembling secure documents can't be permitted.
Consider the problem, you'd have two documents, let's say they have passwords A and B. The assembled document could only have one password -- so one would have to be discarded. By assembling a file with known password with one with unknown password, an end user could potentially remove the security.
In any case, I wouldn't put much store in password security. As Acrobat warns you, third party tools may ignore it altogether.
Another and serious problem with assembling forms is how to deal with name clashes.
By the way, Adobe's solution to assembling secure documents is to use portfolios. I mention it though it's unlikely to be what you want in this case.

  • LiveCycle massage in Adobe Acrobat Professional

a pdf file is created with aobe acrobat professional, i will edit this pdf with a newer version of adobe acrobat professional, a massage is comming: "Dieses Formular kann nicht in Acrobat bearbeitet wreden, Verwenden Sie Adobe LiveCycle Desinger für die Berabeitung dieses Formulars."
what is the problem with the new software? or what is the problem in general?

This file was edited or created with LiveCycle Designer. Once this is done, you can never go back, you must always use LiveCycle Designer.
LiveCycle Designer was included with Acrobat X, but is not included with Acrobat XI. It is sold separately now.

There might have once been a deployment solution for this, but I imagine Adobe will have withdrawn it. Why on earth are you deploying a product so far past end of life, with unfixed security issues?

I have tried to purchase Adobe Acrobat Professional XI this morning and payment (AED 1983.53) has been taken, I received a message stating there was/is a problem processing my order and that I should contact your customer service team in UAE.  Having tried this, I was met with a recorded message, in Arabic, and no options to speak to anyone.  I have found this process extremely frustrating and poor on your behalf.  Not providing any options to speak to an Adobe representative is equally annoying.  Please get back to me ASAP, as I need to use the product immediately.

CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back.  So probably won't run on modern operating systems.  If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

  • Problem in creating PDF of Website using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.

I am trying to create PDF file of full website using "Create PDF from Web Page..." option, in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.
It is creating PDF but the page alignments/text/images alignments are lost and doesn't look good.
Can any one help to create the PDF same as webpage look and feel.
    Thanks.

Acrobat 8's HTML->PDF engine is quite old and doesn't work well with modern web pages. I'd recommend trying the same page using Acrobat X (trial available) where the engine has been replaced and modernized.

  • Please Help!! Links to other PDF documents in my PDF document open in Adobe Acrobat Professional but NOT Adobe Reader XI

    Hi everyone,
I really hope someone can help me with this problem. I work for a software company and we have a release coming up. Every release requires me to create a 'menu' which is what users see when they insert the release CD. I create this menu in Adobe Acrobat Professional, and add links to all the PDF manuals we have for our products. When I open the Menu in Acrobat Professional, all links open fine. When just attempting to open the links using the default Adobe Reader (which i'm guessing most of our customers will use), nothing happens, not even an error is generated. I'm ensuring I link to the documents that reside in the same folder on my directory as the menu. Is this something to do with relative/absolute links? Something to do with Reader XI, as I don't remember having this problem for our last release? Foxit also seems to work in opening the links.
    Thanks

I’m using version 11.0.10. So where the Menu resides in a folder ready to be burnt on to a CD, that same folder is where the links point to.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional and Adobe Reader

I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 (AP) and Adobe Reader 9
(AR) installed on a WinXP system. Both AP and AR work, but if one
is open I cannot start the other: If AP is open and I try to open
a pdf file in AR (right click -> open with... -> Acrobat Reader
    9) the file opens in AP. If AR is open and I try to open a pdf
file in AP the opposite happens.
I am sure there must be a setting somewhere that turns this
behavior off but I cannot find it.
    Any help is appreciated.

You are simply finding another reason why Adobe does not recommend this combination. You may be able to try the /n command line directive to see if it allows multiple runs between the two.

I have developed a fillable pdf in Adobe Acrobat Professional X but when I try to use the Airprint feature the form print minus the field data, have anyone been able to resolve this issue?

    Hi,
I had a similar problem and found help for it. Go to the "Advanced" menu and select Extend features in Adobe Reader. That will enable rights which may resolve your problem. If that doesn't work, there is a really helpful guy in here, Robert Levine. You may want to ask him directly.
    Good Luck

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 giving problem

We've a user who has installed Adobe Reader 7.0.8 and xACF on her machine. She also has Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 on her machine which she uses for some other work.
Now the problem is that when she tries to open the Adobe interactive form from CRM system, it by default opens by Adobe Professional 8.0 (AND Professional 8.0 has issues with xACF framework, so she can not edit the form or click any button).
I tried to attach "PDF" documents with Adobe Reader 7.0 on her machine - which works when I double click an existing PDF on her machine - it opens in Reader 7.0.
But as soon as she opens the Interactive  form from CRM it opens in Adobe Professional 8.0.
I even tried follwoing in Professional 8.0 -
Edit -> Preferences -> Internet -> Display PDF in browser (Unchecked)
But as soon as I did this the PDF stopped to display and just an icon appeared.
Please let me know how I can resolve this issue of co-existence of Reader 7.0 and Professional 8.0 together on same machine.
    Many Thanks,
    Vimukta

    Hello Michal,
    I tried your solution 1. I un-installed both Reader 7.0.8 and Professional 8.0.
    Then I re-installed Reader 7.0.8.
Then I re-installed Professional 8.0, but no where during installtion process did it ask me if Professional 8.0 should be default to open PDF files. By default it set it to open PDF files. Now I'm back to original problem.
Solution 2 still works (i.e. open Reader 7.0.8) before opening the URL in web browser (then it opens in Reader 7.0.8).
But we want a permanent solution.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Vimukta

  • How to Enable Comments in Adobe Acrobat Professional?

    Hai Pals,
Am doing one desktop application for Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 in Java. Am in need to enable the comment option in Acrobat. I have idea to do this requirement through some other Third Party Scripts. Even i done that by script means, i want to do the interaction between the script and my application in JAVA. So, The better way i chosen was creating the entire application by JAVA. I have found some information by Google. There is some package to access the Adobe called adobe-utilities.jar. By using the package we can access the adobe application. Can someone guide me to develop my application module?
    By,
    MO

Thanks For your Response. I got some idea through Google. I think it's possible with adobe lifecycle. But i have'nt any idea about that. I have found that some JAR like adobe-utilities.jar,j2ee.jar has some facilities to do the existing operations with a JAVA code. Is there any other technology like Scripting, StartupScripts or etc.,..
