Adobe Acrobat Reader 9, Version 9.1.1

1. When I attempt to copy (text / table), why do i not get an option to "copy with formatting" always? On some PDF's it is just "Copy"!
2. Which version of adobe should I be using, if I wish to export data from PDF into an MS Excel 2007?

2. I think you need Reader X or XI to use the ExportPDF service.

Any one tell me about Adobe Acrobat Reader latest version..?

    Hi Shazia100,
If your PDF is getting opened in browser like Google chrome or Internet explorer. You need to check which plugin is being used to view the pdf document.
Also you can launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat on your computer and go to Help menu and there is second option About Adobe Reader if it Reader or Acrobat click and check the version of Reader/Acrobat.
To change the default Plugin in chrome to Adobe Reader please follow this link: Adobe PDF plug-in - Chrome Help

  • Adobe Reader Version XI (11.0.06) vs Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Version 9.5.5

Do I have to install Adobe Reader Version XI (11.0.06) when I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Version 9.5.5 on my WIN7 Pro, just because Firefox 26.0 needs a newer plugin?

No. 9.5.5 is the latest version but it is no longer supported with updates. It is possible to get Firefox to stop blocking.
Version 11 does have significant security enhancements though, particularly on Windows.

  • Error:  Adobe Acrobat Reader version 8 or 9 is required.

I have windows XP and I recently installed a 9 version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Since then a receive the following error message: "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.  Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required."  I had installed the 9 version.  Any idea why this is happening or more importantly, what should I do to fix it?

    Lulu,
You should ask the question in the relevant Acrobat or Reader forum:

when opening a pdf link on a web poage the process stalls and there is a message that Adobe acrobat reader is running. To the best of my knowledge I do not have the Acrobat reader. To the best of my knowledge I have deleted the reader program. I have an older version of Acrobat Pro. The problem occurred before I did the deletion and continues since then.

  • Removing Adobe Acrobat reader 5.0, and installing newer 7.0.9 version

My IMAC with Panther 10.3.9 has Acrobat reader 5.0. This appears in Finder>Applications>Adobe Acrobat reader 5.0 folder. I find that the lastest version of the reader for my system is 7.0.9, per Adobe's website in the reader download section. I downloaded version 7.0.9, which appeared to have occurred without problems. When I went back to Applications>Adobe Acrobat reader 5.0 folder, the folder still indicated 5.0, not 7.0.9. Not convinced 7.0.9 was actually implemented, I moved the Adobe Acrobat 5.0 folder from Applications to Trash. And yes I emptied the trash. I then downloaded 7.0.9 from Adobe's website again. The download again appeared to have occurred correctly. There is no sign of Adobe Acrobat reader 7.0.9 in Applications, nor is the 5.0 folder there since I put it in trash. Why did I want to upgrade the reader version in the first place? Some PDF files that I tried to download wouldn't. This is the first time that I have encountered PDF files that would not download in readable format. The PDF help section of the website indicated I needed the lastest version of Acrobat reader to successfully download the PDF files. Since I did have an older version, the version upgrade was attempted. Where do I go from here?
    IMAC G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)
    IMAC G4

    Hello AC,
You were very close to being completely correct. The downloadreader.pkg opened by itself, but what I did not do after that was double click an icon that said Acrobat reader installer. Once I did double click that icon, additional installation activities occurred, and sure enough, Adobe Acrobat reader 7.0.9 now appears in Applications. Thanks.

  • How do I install latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader?

I am unable to open two electronic messages from my bank.  They suggested I install the latest verson of Adobe Acrobat Reader.  How do I do that?

You can download its full installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
It would be better to remove all traces of previous versions of Reader before installing the one you want.

  • "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)

We are getting the following error "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)" and a gray screen appears (Image not viewable) with multiple users. We are using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.05) and (11.0.06). The current workaround is to log off the website and log back in. Once the user logs back in, the pdf will appear. However it occurs anywhere from 2-8 times in a day. Anyone else having this issue or know of another workaround? Any suggestion with how to fix? Please help!!

    Hi Valerie,
Please let me know the version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader & operating system installed on your computer?
    Also, try this:-
    Launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
From the menu, choose Edit -> preferences -> General
Uncheck the option for "Enable Protected Mode at startup"
Restart the Adobe Reader and web browser.

  • Chrome - Adobe-Acrobat/Reader can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser.

I can't view PDF files via Chrome (it works on Internet Explorer but I prefer Chrome)  -  the error below has arisen recently on Chrome, though I can't see what has changed.
    "Acrobat plug-in
The Adobe-Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Please exit  Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again."
I have looked through Forum articles on similar errors and have tried the following(text copied from other Forum entries)
    Repair Adobe Acrobat (from Acrobat)
Repair Adobe Acrobat (from Control Panel
Configure Acrobat  as a helper application: Choose Edit > Preferences., Select Internet on the left., Deselect Display PDF In Browser Using [Acrobat application], and then click OK.Quit Acrobat or Reader
Create a registry item for Acrobat: with Regedit: If the registry item doesn't exist on the system, do the following: Go to Edit > New > Key and create the missing HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe.Go to Edit > New > String Value and name this key (Default).Select (Default), and then go to Edit > Modify. Type the Adobe Acrobat path in the "Value data" for your product.,restart your computer
Repair the HKCR\AcroExch.Document registry key: Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document., Right-click AcroExch.Document and select Delete; make sure that you have the correct key, and click Yes on any prompts, Right-click AcroExch.Document.7 and select Delete; make sure that you have the correct key, and click Yes on any prompts. Repair your Acrobat  installation
None has solved the problem. However it still works ok with IE. But I want to stick with Chrome because I find IE is so slow!
I am using Vista, with Adobe Acrobat standard 9.5.2 and Google Chrome version 23.0.1271.64 m which is marked on Chrome as 'up to date'
Does anyone know why I might be getting this error on Chrome but not IE?

I think I have discovered the answer to my own question!
I have disabled Adobe Reader plug-in, and can now see PDFs in Chrome.
(Steps: Chrome Menu, Settings option, Click Advanced Settings link, then Content Settings button, then select Disable Individual Plug-Ins, and a list of plug-ins is offered to enable or disable).
I then get a different result depending on whether or not Chrome PDF viewer is enabled - with it enabled I see the PDF document in Chrome, or with it disabled then the option is offered to download it, but either way I can get it it via Chrome without having to run Internet explorer in another browser window.

  • Since Lion doesn't support Power PC... how do I open Adobe acrobat reader?

I'm trying to open Adobe Acrobat Reader to download something from the internet, and discovered for the first time that I can't because Power PC is no longer supported by Apple..(whatever that is????)  I don't know what to do.  Can someone help.  Thank you sgarbo

power pc is an old cpu type made by ibm that apple used to put in their rather old macs
if you downloaded an acrobat reader which require power pc then you downloaded the wrong! and possible dangerous version of acrobat reader download the correct one if you must from adobes site
but osx support displaying pdf files without you installing that program
which along with Java are the biggests caused of insucrity in private computers there are apple and windows alike

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard version in Windows 8.1 and when I try to create a .pdf file, I receive the following error message "Acrobat could not open "file name.log" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.  To create a PDF document, go to the source application then print the document to .pdf"  I am going to the source application and printing the document to .pdf yet it's saving the file as a .log file.  After reinstalling the software, I initially didn't encounter this problem but on my second and third attempts to convert files to .pdf format, this error message reappeared.  How do I resolve this problem?
