Why can't I open a document in Adobe Reader?

I have been having the same issue since January. Oddly, I can read the docs that I scan as pdf on my iPad but not on my Mac or PC. I receive the following message:
"Adobe Reader could not open '_____.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
It doesn't matter if I use Safari, Chrome, etc.
I have the most up to date Adobe products.

Do you have any anti-virus running. I've seen some reports on here where av software can sometimes prevent connections to certain sites.

why can't I open a document with the said right password!!!! !

    Hi Anthony,
What problem are you facing in opening the document? Is there any error message?
I would recommend you to try again and as passwords are case sensitive so please make sure that you type the password in exactly same case sequence as you did when you set the password.

  • Acrobat Reader 9 Crashes PC When Opening 2 Documents Simultaneously (2D Graphics Acceleration Relate

    Hey all,
Weird issue. I noticed my Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 crashes when opening two PDF's simultaneously. The first one opens just fine. The second one, a new window opens, but there's only black inside the 2nd Reader window. It finally (after way too long) begins to show the document, and then I get a blue screen of death with a fault in nvlddmkm.sys, the nVidia display driver for my video card. It says it was unable to reset the display drivers, dumps the memory, and reboots. One interesting note is that if I close the "black" window before it blue screens, I can continue using the computer with no crash. It's only if I give it time to try to display.
I already found the temporary fix for this, which is disabling 2D Graphics Acceleration in the Acrobat Reader (Edit -> Preferences -> Page Setup). Fortunately I'm on a fast computer, so this doesn't affect performance much, but it still obviously isn't ideal, and I'd like to see the problem resolved.
I don't experience this problem with any other programs at the moment, so I'm thinking it's an issue with Adobe's product or possibly the nVidia drivers, but thought I should mention it and see if anyone has any other possible fixes where 2D Graphics Acceleration can remain enabled.
    Thanks all!

I am having the exact same issue... it's so frustrating! Does anyone have a solution to this?
Running CS4 on a Core i7 workstation w/ Win 7 64-bit, latest BIOS and video card drivers (ATI Radeon 4890). Acrobat is version 9.3 with all updates. It freezes for 30 seconds just as described, every single time you launch it.

  • I can't open a pdf file in a browser window. I have to save it before I can open it. Why can't I open the file without first having to save it?

Anytime that I click on a pdf file in a browser window, the file will not open automatically. I am forced to save it on my computer first and then access the file. When I click on it after it is saved locally, it opens as it should.

If you are not able to get Adobe Acrobat Reader to open .pdf files in the browser. Even after you check in prefs to show pdf files in the browser.
Make this modification for all versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader that show under this key.
-Note: Deleting the key and all subkeys for any older versions also seems to fix this problem. So if you see this key present,
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\7.0\Originals
delete the 7.0 and all subkeys.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals
-Right click on Originals and choose NEW DWORD Value and name it bBrowserIntegration, hit enter,
double click on the new value and make sure the value is 1

  • Why can i not open my documents?

why can't I open any of my documents?

You will have to check to see if opening and saving in a .doc or .docx format is permitted in AppleWorks.  Since AppleWorks is legacy software it probably is not supported.

  • Why can't I open html documents in Pages 3.0 but could in v2.0.2?

We used Pages v2.0.2 to open html exam documents to reformat the exams before sending to the printer. We recently upgraded to Pages 3.0 via iWorks '08, and we can no longer open html documents. Does anyone know if this is just an oversight in Pages 3.0 and will be fixed in future updates or has Apple intentionally abandoned html support in Pages?
We need to find a workable solution. We prepare exams for 1000s of students each semester.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Rick

Pages 3.0 (that is iWork '08) doesn't have an HTML entry in the CFBundleDocumentTypes of it's Info.plist file. Pages 1.x and 2.x both DO have an HTML entry in their Info.plist files. Thus Pages 3 won't open HTML while Pages 1 and 2 both will.
    So the questions are:
Why did Apple remove HTML as a file type for Pages v3.0? Was it a mistake? Was it intentional? Will it come back in a quick update to Pages?
And then again for you Allan Eckert:
How are you able to open HTML documents in Pages v3.0? By rights, any ".html" file shouldn't be openable in Pages v3.

  • Acrobat Reader DC: Too much white making the document hard on the eyes.

I just installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. It is difficult to read because of all the white. Is there some way to change the color of the very light drey side panels on either side of the document being displayed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Why can't I open my document?

I have InDesign 5. I worked on a document two days ago and now I get a pop-up saying "Missing Plug-ins," "SharedContent.InDesignPluin" and "The document "Newsletter.indd" uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?"
Then I click OK and I get a second pop-up saying "Cannot Open File." In the box it says "FormField.InDesignPlugin, XML.InDesignPlugin, Generic Page Item.InDesignPlugin, Text.InDesignPlugIn..." are missing. Then it says "Cannot open 'Newsletter.indd'. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest verions, or upgrad to the latest verions of Adobe InDesign."
Can someone explain what's going on. It was working fine when I worked on it the other day.
    Thank you.

I didn't realize that CS5 and CS5.5 save files in different formats. I remember updating it from home the other day and it worked fine. Now I'm trying to open it in CS5 and I'm getting these errors. I'll remember to save it as IDML tonight. I could see a major file format change between CS 4 and CS5 or CS5 and CS6, but the differences appear to be so small betwen CS5 and CS5.5. (Now if I could only get my office to buy me the upgrade to CS5.5. Fat chance.)
Bummer. What an interesting way to force people to upgrade.
Thank you for your speedy response.
