Adobe Adobe Digital publishing Suite, Magazine

I am in a special project in my college, to create a magazine for architecture department. So, what is the best plan for me to use Adobe digital publishing suite? which options have I?

Single Edition comes part of Creative Cloud ($49.99), you can build unlimited Single Edition apps but the draw back is you can only publish on iPad. Single Edition apps need to be highly inactive in order to get past Apple's Approval process. Single Edition apps also include unlimited downloads since these are hosted by Apple.
Pro is an annual cost ($4800) which enables you to build for Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows. You get more bells and Whistles like Push Notifications, Analytics. With Pro, Apple hosts your app container and Adobe hosts your folios.
Good luck!

    Hello Sir,
I want to learn Adobe's Digital Publishing Suite for our magazines. Is there any Training Institute at Delhi in India for that?
    regards
    Vimlesh

According to this list, there is no Adobe Certified Training Centre.

But you might search for other subjects in that list and then call them to find out about Digital Publishing. Most likely training providers know each other and an recommend.

  • How can we use Adobe's Digital Publishing Suite given this scenario

I have a question regarding a very specific scenario as it applies to Adobe Digital Publishing that I am having trouble finding an answer to.
We are a small design firm that produces small-run, proprietary-information, official documents.
Each document is branded to one of our clients, but each document title's design is entirely unique even when done for the same client.
Our clients then selectively distribute these documents to a small number (max 200) of their propective clients (NO GENERAL DISTRIBUTION -- NO APP STORE or iTUNES -- NO CHARGE).
It would be nice that each of our clients could have a branded Adobe Viewer with which their selected prospective clients could view only those documents sent to them (PUSHED); NOT everyone with a client-branded Adobe Viewer would be PUSHED the same document.
And similar to the documents being PUSHED to only specific prospective clients of our clients, that our client could subsequently PULL / delete a document from the prospective client's viewer when the document has expired (besides being promotional documents, they are legal as well, and when expired, need to be withdrawn from readership).
So, how is something like this done?         What Adobe DPS pricing plan applies?
Would it be a Single plan, but for each client branded viewer?  The Professional and Enterprise pricing setup is excessive given our extremely small scale of extremely specific directed distribution for no revenue from that distribution.
Please help me understand, since I cannot find such an answer online.
    Thank you.
    Mark

If I understand you correctly, you would need an Enterprise level account for that.

  • Digital Publishing Suite Help | What's new in this release

This v28 marks the end of the immersive feeling a Folio could offer the user. In stead of having a truly full-screen experience, there's always that iOS7 system bar in sight. At least, that's what I understand from this documentation. So there's no way to prevent users to be distracted by anything unrelated in their screen. That's a real pity !
Some might think this is just a trivial change with eventually minor impact, but I think being able to present content over the whole screen is a crucial factor in distinguishing a Folio from other publishing formats like a web page.
Does this requirement also affect other apps like e-readers or games ?

    Bob,
The only way this works, even theoretically (as we haven't tested it) is to first set the metadata for Minimum DPS Version and then open up every layout in play previously checked in to the earlier Sprint version and delete the DP Artboards, reset them and re-check in all layouts to update them with the new metadata. With an average issue size growing upwards of 300 dossiers, this becomes an untenable workflow imposition. When we first tried setting this metadata based on Dennis Van Nooij's instructions it did not work. We must plan such metadata strategies up to 3 months in advance of the issue as that's when the creatives begin working on it. To ask them to open up 500-700 layouts in the "transition" issues between Sprint updates and recheck them in is unreasonable considering our tight deadline cascade. We must retain compatibility with NIM and Google Play embedded readers and these are always lagging behind a Sprint version or two. We are releasing a new custom storefront soon which requires R26 but our folios must stay at R25 and we are not sure for how long we will need to retain this compatibility so the number of layouts that must be redundantly touched by Art/Edit operators under tight deadline turnarounds makes this whole strategy very difficult. Woodwing and Adobe need to understand more deeply the impact of their strategic decisions on the actual workflows of the art depts at the publishers on the front lines. I don't remember having been consulted on this before the installers were pulled out of circulation. There are still many dynamic factors that deeply influence our ability to maintain a healthy and fully operational Woodwing/Adobe eco-system; the only way we have been able to maintain consistency and navigate around the many bugs in the software is to nail down our environment so we can control how the pieces behave. Adobe has pulled this control out from under us.

  • Digital Publishing Suite Help | Creating HTML articles for DPS

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/help/import-html-articles.html

    Hi
I believe that the issue is that the HTML article will automatically start outside of your control, which is expected with HTML articles unless you code some kind of starting mechanism that responds to some reader action (tap a button, swipe somewhere, etc). To answer your other question, though, you can indeed use inDesign and control when the ad will start.
In InDesign, you can set the delay to .125 for a Web Content overlay and it will then "fire" when it first comes into the reader's view. If you set it to zero (the default, by the way), then it will "fire" as soon as the article loads, which may not be when you expect, since DPS will preload adjacent articles in order to improve the reading experience. You can, therefore, put your HTML/jquery ad into a folder with an index.html file to drive it and then make a Web Content overlay in InDesign that points at the index.html file for your ad. Set the overlay to autoplay, and set the delay to .125 seconds. This way, your ad will always start when your reader swipes to view it. It also allows you to put the ad as an interstitial deeper in an article, and you can ensure it starts when the reader views it and not before.
There is a cavet here, which is that the article will take some time to load, depending on the complexity of your HTML. As a result, your reader may see a spinning wheel on the screen instead of your ad while the ad begins to load. You should be sure to put a poster frame there that perhaps is a screen shot of the first frame of your animation. That way, when the ad loads, it will already have the first frame ready to go and will replace the first frame with the animation.

@Fabian – just for the records: there is a way.
    But it's quite a hack!
You cannot rely on it for future versions of DPS or InDesign…
    1. You start with two buttons and a single MSO on the same page.
Button 1 says: Go to State 1 of MSO
Button 2 says: Go to State 2 of MSO
    NOW the hack:
    2. DUPLICATE (do not copy/paste) the two buttons by [alt] + drag with the mouse to page 2.
You'll see, that the duplicates still control the MSO on page 1.
The following screen shots will illustrate this:
Here the state control of the green button on page 1:
Here the state control of the green button on page 2:
    (Note the difference!)
To make it clear again. I would not recommend to do it.
But you could test it. Come back and report if that is working for you with the most recent versions of InDesign and ADPS…
    (I accomplished this with InDesign CS5.5 v7.5.3)

I just started a project in InDesign CS6 using the alternate layouts feature for my horizontal and vertical designs. I setup the folder structure you described, but wasn't able to import multiple articles at once. Adding each article separately worked though. Is there any way to get multiple article importing to work in CS6?

    Hi guys,
For some reason there is no "Free" option for the Article Access in the folio as per documentation - please see below, only "Metered" and "Protected". What could be the problem?
    TIA,

Select the "Enable Article Preview" option to let users preview any retail folio that includes articles marked as "Free" (use the Folio Producer Editor to mark articles as Free).

I don't know how you could create the HTML. What I'm saying is that if you want hot spots in a panorama, you wouldn't use the Panorama overlay. You would need to figure out a way to create the panorama in HTML, and then use a Web overlay. I've never seen it done.
