What program do you use? I know what to do to get started with Flash CS5.5, but I'm less familiar with Flash Builder 4.5.
Hopefully there will be a slicker way to get going, but for now, if you're using Flash CS5.5, go into the application folder and rename the folder "AIR2.6" as "AIR2.6old", and copy the expanded 2.7 SDK folder into the application folder, and rename it "AIR2.6". That's enough for you to build AIR 2.7 apps for iOS or Android.

I tried it with a simple pre-built template, and didn't have any effect - you mentioned in the video you were going to assign each to some pre-built corresponding css files... did they already have additional attributes in them not highlighted in the video? I can't seem to get my layout to change in the mobile and tablet sizes...?

Is it possible to share assets between a windows and a mac AIR app build with captive runtime on one dvd-rom?

Hi there,
I have a question about burning two builds of an AIR desktop app with captive runtime, one for Windows and one for Mac, on a single hybrid DVD-rom that can be played on both Windows computers and Macs.
I've tried sharing the assets (video's and pdf's mostly) between the two builds, but I can't seem to get it to work. The only way I have been able to work around this, is to have the assets in both builds, which results in the double the amount of space on the DVD-Rom.
Is there a way to have the two builds use a single location to find the files? Or do I need to have two builds that both contain all the assets?

I am done with mounting a secondary HDD (thanks to ifixit) and installing Windows 8 Pro 64 bit on it without a worry. Charm, charm!!
Boot Camp 5 guide prescribes all needed steps and when read and used correctly, installation must be an easy task. And all the existing apple hardwares work so good in the Windows environment too.
I am going to help out a friend of mine in doing a similar thing on his mac too. If you got specific questions, please do shoot up here and i should be able to get a reply to it (if at all).

AIR captive runtime application for MacOS

Hi!
I create application with captive runtime for Windows and MacOS. I have some problem connected with MacOS specific, cause I'm newbie in this OS.
I dont want to publish my app in appstore, cause the app have problems with appstore rules.
1) How I should to sign my application? I just pack my app as described in manual http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WSfffb011ac560372f709e16db131e43659b9-8000.html but I don't see any track of code sign in my .app. I thought that it isn't a problem, before I download my app from network - it don't want to run because dveloper unidentified.
2) My application require update system. I Realize it simply for Windows: my AIR application download updates if it necessary (resources, air lib, main swf file, and exe) and then I replace files with other program. There is no problems with updates, cause codesign is only spread on exe file.
But as I understood I can't use same way to update my .app cause it destroy my codesign, as I know. So, how I should update my MAC app?
UPD1: I found a bit information about 1st here: How to sign your Mac OS X App for Gatekeeper | Successful Software. So, I can't use not apple's sign certificate?

I spent 3 days for searching answer and making experiments. So, as a result:
1) To pass MacOS Gatekeeper I should use apple developer certificate.
2) I could change content of signed .app file as I wish. I don't try it with my own app because my certificate is not ready yet, but I successfully change contents of few other signed apps - no issues with running was detected. Maybe there is any problem with my understanding of signature..

Splash screen when application packaged with captive runtime (Windows)

Is there any way to show your applications splash-screen while the Captive Runtime loads?
After packaging my air app with captive runtime on windows the app takes a few seconds extra before showing on the screen. The taskbar-entry appears fast, but the application main window appears much slower than when packaging as native installer without runtime included.

Not that I know of but I'll ask around. I've seen at least one other report that startup is slower so I'll try to get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, would you mind opening a new bug over at bugbase.adobe.com regarding the startup performance hit? Can't install CS4 on new macbook pro lion 10.8, says version of adobe air is no longer supported, I've tried to download newest version of air and it keeps saying same thing! Ive looked through forums and questions, am I the only person having problems? Why?

Does anyone know if Oracle Reports 9i comes with a runtime executable for Solaris that I can just install and call to generate my reports without having to install Oracle 9iAS?

I dont think you will be able to run reports in Reports 9i without IAS R2. I was told by an Oracle employee that Reports 9i has been ready for some time but that it has not yet been released because it can not function without IAS R2.

The support people keep asking me to direct call adobe support. I´ve bought my subscription through Brazil´s Adobe Store, that doesn´t sound correct for me.
And, there´s no place in My Adobe for direct cancelling a subscription?

Adobe air with flex, file new, open and save for Desktop software program

I already have a headache from all the searching. I cannot believe this to be such a confusing topic as every software program we create must be able to save user input, right.
Here is the problem:
Novel writing software program Main window has tabnavigator with four navigatorcontent pages 1. characters, 2. worlds, 3. objects, 4. Editor
Each navigatorcontent page has user input fields in the form of textinput component, textarea component, richtexteditor component, etc.
problem 1:
The user needs to be able to open a new project and give it a name and state where it must be saved. All user input in the Novel writing software program must be attached to the file name the user specified - cannot give sample code cause I don't even know where to start looking anymore.
Problem 2:
If the user has now defined a new project name, all his input from the different input components has to be compiled into a single file that can be saved. (Dan Pichelman gave me a satisfactory answer on using the file.borwseforsave funtion.) That makes sense, but I first need to get all the user input into that single file. I was convinced that it must be an xml file and that there would be a guide on how to do this but...
Problem 3:
This brings me to another problem. All the pages I've researched so far tell me how to load data from an xml file into a component, but not how to write the text from the component into the xml file. And this xml file cannot be the prefs file in the storage directory, it has to be named by the user and then after filling in all his text in the different tabs of the software, must be saved in this xml file and saved where the user chooses.
Problem 4:
now that the user put in his text and it is written to an xml file that he has named and set the path to, he goes on vacation and in two weeks opens his saved file to work on his project again. All the data that was stored in the xml must now be written back into the different user input components so he can continue working on his project, truth be told, there are some samles and tutorials on this subject, but again from only a single page perspective not a multiple tab perspective.
Problem 5:
Now the user has deleted and/or changed some text he put in when he started, he wrote some more text in the textareas and texteditor and he clicks the file - save button. The xml file or whatever needs to be used must be updated and saved with all the changes overwriting the old file.
Problem 6:
The data entered by the user will end up being a book of say 400 pages. This data will obviously be mostly in the richtexteditor component, so whatever method of saving is used, database or xml or whatever, needs to be able to contain all this data.
Thought, if you are working with for instance, microsoft powerpoint, it has multiple pages all containing different user inputs and when you click flie - save, it saves all that input into one file. When I as a user opens that saved file it loads all that content back into its place and I can change and manipulate the input and save it again. I would have thought this would be one of the first things adobe or any other software would teach as this is what sofware programs are all about. But alas, the tutorials on this subject for adobe air for Desktop application is extreeeeemely rare.
My promise is, if someone can help me with this or there is a tutorial out there that covers this properly I will write a tutorial on this for other newbies as I progress step by step.

Which AIR SDK version and device you are using? There was a sound.play() crash on Android 2.2 devices which was fixed and the build available at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html. And, yes minimum version is android 2.3, please see the link http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WSfffb011ac560372f-5d0f4f25128cc9cd0cb-7ffc.html for more reference.
Also, I request you to share a sample application so that we can reproduce the crash if it is not related to sound.play() and reproducible with the latest AIR SDK.
