Adobe Captivate 5 Multiple Actions

Since they took away the Multiple Actions drop down on Slide Entrance, is there a way to assign multiple actions of different types? I tried creating a new action; however, I want to apply both a Conditional action and a Standard action to the slide.    Here is an example: On Slide entrance, I want to Lock the TOC (Standard Action) AND I want to jump to a certain slide if the current quiz score is 10, i.e. apply a conditional action.  Is there a way to do this.  Am I missing something?

Hello,
Multiple actions were there in Captivate 4, but they did not always work flawlessly. Now you have to define a (standard) Advanced action. Perhaps this blog posting, that points to an article could explain:
Power of variables with advanced actions
As for the combination of a Standard and a Conditional action, I did publish an article about it:
Combining a standard and a conditional action in one Advanced action
Hope this helps,

  • Adobe Captivate Help | Shared actions (Cp 7)

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/shared-actions.html

In the Help-document about Shared Actions this described work flow 'To apply the same shared action to multiple objects, group them and then apply the action." seems not to be functional. For a group or for a selection of objects (of the same type) the option 'Execute Shared Action' is grayed out, only a normal action seems to be possible. Is this a bug in the documentation?

  • Will adobe captivate support multiple SCO.

    Hi,
Im using adobe captivate 5.5 , Can you please explain how to add multiple SCOs in a SCORM course
    Thanks in advance,
    Rahul_R.

    Sorry for my mistake.
my question is Can we add multiple SCOs into a block and multiple blocks in to a SCORM Course in adobe captivate 5.5?
    ie,
    1. Blocks are sub items of the SCORM Course
    2. SCOS are sub items of the Blocks
    EG:
    Course structure is like
         1. SCORM Course
              1.1 BLOCK1
                        1.1.1 SCO1
                        1.1.2 SCO2
              1.2 BLOCK2
                        1.2.1 SCO3
                        1.2.2 SCO4

  • BUG:  Advanced Actions duplicated when creating NEW PROJECTS FROM TEMPLATE using Adobe Captivate 8.

Need:  CREATE NEW PROJECTS FROM TEMPLATE using Adobe Captivate 8.
Problem:  NEW PROJECT (.cptx) duplicates the Advanced Actions originally configured within TEMPLATE FILE (.cpt.).
For example: Template file (.cptl) advanced action "_initializeModule" gets duplicated as "_initializeModule1", "_initializeModule2", "_initializeModule3" within NEW PROJECT.  FYI, the original "_initializeModule" advanced action still appears.
MAJOR BUG, what the heck is going on?!?!!!  Planning to deploy this template file to use for multiple courses with multiple users, this WILL cause epic confusion across the board.

Similar problem, think they are working on it as well: when dragging a shared action from an external library to a slide or object event, and that action is using a parameter that was already created for another shared action, there will be a new parameter created which really screws up the shared action contrary to this problem. Tip: for the moment do not drag shared actions from an external library immediately to an event, but drag them first to the Library: Reuse Shared Actions in other Projects - Captivate 7 vs. 8 - Captivate blog

  • Export multiple entries in CSV format - Adobe Captivate Results Analyzer

I'm currently developing and testing a quiz in Captivate 8, which I have set up with the assistance of my IT colleagues to report to an internal server.
All appears to be working correctly with regard to capturing the data. I can access and read the data using Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer 1.5.
I note that I can see the individual responses and I can drill down to see the details of the interactions - interaction type, correct answer, student answer etc.
My issue is that it seems that you can't batch export this detailed information for multiple participants when I use the 'Export to CSV' function. It appears to only allow you to export the data for each individual that you have drilled down into. Given that I have several hundred participants that isn't going to work.
Can someone tell me if this is a limitation of Adobe Captivate Results Analyzer or is there a way to do this using this tool?
    Thanks

Hi there, I have similar issue that I have explained in this post. Any ideas please?

  • Multiple reviewers cannot open CREV files in Adobe Captivate Reviewer 1.0 after the first review

We are using Captivate 4.0 with Captivate Reviewer 1.0 for review and comments. The problem we are having just started within the last month...
We place the CREV file and folder on the network so that multiple reviewers can access. All have Adobe Captivate Reviewer 1.0 installed.
When the first person opens the CREV file, they are told that the folder is already in use, and that they must create another.
Once a new folder is created a user may open the CREV file and make comments and save them. However, subsequent reviewers cannot open the CREV file to add their comments. Subsequent reviewes must create anothe folder and then they can open and review the file and add comments.
However, because the CREV file is now saving comments in a different folder, reviewers cannot see each others comments. The last module we did where everthing worked correctly and multiple reviewers could open and comment the same file without any issues was about one month ago on 07/29. We have no idea if something has changed since then that would render Captivate Reviewer 1.0 inoperable, but we'd like to see if anyone else has seen and/or resolved this issue...
    Thanks,
    James

No, I've had WIndows 7 since it was released through MSDN.  Adobe Captivate 4, released in January 2009, was the most recent version of Captivate available when Windows 7 was released to MSDN and Technet subscribers in August 2009.  Captivate 5 was not released until May 2010, almost 9 months after Windows 7 was released to the public.
Captivate 4 has a message at startup mentioning that one should run it as administrator, which is a Windows 7 feature involving User Account Control.  We bought it sometime after Windows 7 was released but before Captivate 5 was released, otherwise we would have bought Captivate 5.
Captivate 4 has worked for us on Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.  For it to work on Windows Vista and up, we had to make sure a particular update was applied.
The problem is that it works when it feels like it, and the rest of the time it just freezes at startup.  Deleting the app data folder seemed to help, so perhaps it had issues with state corruption.  These issues have plagued this application from day 1 on every OS we've used it on.

  • Adobe Captivate 8 system variable "cpQuizInfoAnswerChoice" is empty for random multiple-choice questions.

Does anyone run into this problem when capturing the user answer for a random question slide? Adobe Captivate 8 system variable "cpQuizInfoAnswerChoice" is empty for random multiple-choice questions.

    Hi Shriyansh.
The reason I am interested in capturing the user answers in Submit All situation is that I know after I published the test using SCORM 2004, all the user responses were captured in "cmi.suspend_data" because my test can resume the test to the last exit question in the middle. However, when I looked at the suspend data value, I have a hard time to understand the pattern and pick out the meaningful user question responses data. I really need help from you to understand how the suspend data value was constructed and how to parse this data. Another area I thought it's easy to get the user question responses data is the interaction records, but I always got only one question (the last randomly sampled question) interaction record. See the following generated XML SCORM 2004 4th edition data. Could you help me figure out how to interpret the following suspend data to get the users responses to each test question?  And why I only got one question interaction record? Thanks again for your help, Zhuoran.

  • Issue with Opening Files using Multiple Actions

I've noticed a strange issue when I attempt to use multiple actions in my Captivate 4 project.
I have a button that does two things: open an HTML file in another window and make another button visible. Of course, for the Open URL or File action, I'm entering the name of the HTML file and select New from the drop-down list so it opens in a new window.
Captivate doesn't seem to store that setting. When I click OK for that dialog box and then OK for the button dialog box, it reverts back to Current.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Here I am, setting the property...
...and here's me checking Captivate 4 to see if the setting "stuck" and seeing that it didn't:

    Hi there
I've recently encountered that behavior myself. I found it was a lot more reliable to avoid using the Multiple Actions for the Button click. Instead, configure an Advanced Action to do the work and you should have better results.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Adobe Captivate 6 Advanced Quizzing

I am using Adobe Captivate 6. When creating a new quiz and setting it to be multiple choice I have gone into each possible answer under properties and set Advanced Answer Option to Continue and Show Feedback Message.
After that I went into Quiz Properties and changed Action to Infinite and On Success to Continue.
When I run my project it appears each option I click that is wrong will allow me to see feedback message and let me try maybe one other answer then lock the screen from choosing answers.
My goal is to create a knowledge check quiz with multiple choice answers where when you select a wrong answer you get a feedback message and then you can select another answer and if wrong see that feedback message so on and so forth until you get correct answer and choose to move forward.
Please if anyone knows the trick to this it would be greatly appreciated.

Change your Advanced Answer actions to No Action so that your user can remain on the same slide and try other answers.  Only the correct answer should be set to Jump to Next Slide. You'll also need to set the number of attempts for the multi-choice quiz question higher so that the user can keep trying.  You can have up to three Failure levels, after which the Failure caption will only appear on the final allowed attempt.  Changing the quiz properties to Infinite means that the user can reattempt the entire quiz an infinite number of times in order to pass.   It does not change the number of attempts allowed on each question. (This also requires that you enable the Retake Quiz button on the Quiz Results slide.)

  • Names of objects for multiple actions in different slides

I am trying to develope an interactive software guide which
requires something like a panel to insert it in each slide. This
panel contains precise instructions on how tu use the interface
    visible in the current slide.
The problem is that sometimes the panel hides part of the
interface. I would like to have a button somewhere in each slide so
that the student can simply hide the panel when is obscuring
something important. I don´t have any problem for preparing
one panel for one slide using multiple actions for hiding or
showing the panel, captions, buttons, etc. But the problem is that
in each slide the similar objects have different names assigned
automatically by Captivate. I found no way to assign same names in
different slides so that afterwards, assigning multiple actions
would be only a matter of copy and paste from slide to slide. I
tried to think something with variables but I gave up.
I am using Captivate 4 Trial. Somebody has a nice good idea?
    :)

    Hi,
Inorder to give same name to the objects in different slides,
there is a workaround. Immediately after opening a project, give
the same name to the objects in different slides.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    thanks

  • Best Practices for Team Collaboration using Adobe Captivate

With a team of 6 Instructional Designers, how can Adobe Captivate be approached where we can collaborate while producing e-learning material while maintaining a consistent look and feel of the e-learning we produce?
What are the best practices for a team of 6 IDs working and creating e-learning material in Captivate?  Is there anything build-in that allows us to connect to the same libraries, templates, etc to share?
    Please advise.
    Thank you!
    Susanne

Only some tips, never collaborated with someone else, being the solo teacher. You didn't mention which version you are using, what I write here is meant for CP7.
Be sure to prepare a theme and/or a template that will be used by everyone. A theme consists of master slides, object styles, skin editor. Master slides can have custom navigation shape buttons.  In a template you can eventually also prepare different slides with placeholders, and eventually advanced actions etc. For CP6 and earlier that is the only way to reuse advanced actions, in Captivate 7 you can export shared actions that can be imported in any project for reuse.
A feature that few users know about are the external libraries. You can open the library of any project as an external library in another project. That is a good idea to store assets that you want to use in different projects: images, audio clips, video clips, eventually equations. The shared actions in a library can not (yet?) be used in another project however.
If you are on CP7 you have automatically the roundtripping with source Adobe Photoshop files and source Audition files, both from CC. That can also make collaboration lot easier if those assets are prepared in those applications. Will not expand on that, because I'm not sure you have the Creative Cloud applications.
    Those are my two cents.

  • Adobe Captivate 7 Project How to make Rollover cations, audio, and video work in HTML format?

Adobe Captivate 7 Project How to make Rollover cations, audio, and video work in HTML format?

Honestly, I don't even know why this is an option. The conversion to Flash is completely unusable.
I have exported some things to Flash, and since I program in Flash all the time I was able to manipulate to work to some degree. Most text captions are built with multiple elements and completely fall apart.
Sorry, I can't be of more help.

    Adobe Support

    Hi Vikram,
I am using a Mac. Everything was developed in Captivate 7 (we upgraded specifically due to the need for all quiz types to be exported to html5). I have 30 pre-existing projects and the problem exists on all of them.
I started a separate discussion about my problem. You can search for "Major problem with Quiz Screens after loading Captivate 7.0.1 patch" and it should pop up. I have been working with a couple other Adobe Staff on this and have provided a file.
While they were able to fix the initial problem, several others arose. This was caused in part by the fact that I have and advanced action which affects the quiz results screen and now it no longer works on the html5 version. I have not yet explored the possible problems with drag and drop quiz questions and expect there will be some because those questions are problematic anyway.
Everything worked on our LMS and locally (swf, and html5 on desktop systems) BEFORE I installed the patch, and the main reason I installed it was to fix the problem on the iPAD and other tablets. Now the initial problem shown in this discussion works, but other things are broken.  I have 30 projects with this problem and they are all due next week.
I would like to uninstall the patch for now and worry about it when everything has been delivered.

  • Adobe Captivate 6 and Shortcut Keys

I have designed a course in Adobe Captivate 6 and want to include a Shortcut key such as CTRL+O which the user hits to perform an action like they do in a production system they are being trained on for their job (non Adobe related).
When I set up a slidelet and the associated Action via a Shortcut to jump to a slide further down in the presentation this works in preview fine, but when I upload it to the LMS and test it there, it performs an Open function instead because this is being run in an Internet Brower.
Does anyone know of anyway for the Captivate CTRL+O to supercede the Internet Explorer CTRL+O?
Please let me know either way.
    Thank you...................

Browser functions ALWAYS come before any functions of the content within the browser.
Trying to create course content that replicates keystroke shortcut behaviour of applications that use Function keys or Control keys is doomed to failure.
I would recommend you find another way to display the required keystrokes (e.g. buttons or images on screen) and get your users to click with their mouse to indicate the correct keys.
