Adobe Elements 11 Editor: The MARQUEE for the brush tips aften disappears! The only solution that I have found is to shut the computer down then start up again. Is there a fix for this problem without shutting everything down?

If it takes rebooting the computer to fix this temporarily, that suggests the problem is in the system's temporary memory. Most likely the VRAM (the RAM on your video card). I'd suggest making sure you have the most up to date drivers for your card (go to the manufacturer's web site to download them).

Is Adobe Elements 8 on the Decline?

Recently I purchased both Adobe Elements 8 and Premier 8. So far I am totally dissatisfied with them. In the past I used Elements 2 and 5 so was expecting at least some improvement. At least version 5 had a meager manual - version 8 has nothing. Of course Adobe is very willing to SELL you a manual ("book"), but I think that a warning should be placed on the outside of the box (much like a cigarette warning) that No documentation is included but is available for an additional cost.
An included sheet in the Adobe box claims that you get Photo Essentials to be able to perform 5 essential tasks in Adobe Elements at a cost equal to that of buyng Elements 8 in the first place. Are these features absent in Elements 8? If so, why sould I buy Elements 8 when what I should have purchased all along is Photo Essentials. Otherwise, why should Adobe push for you to buy another fuill product?
One of the main features in Elements 5 is to be able to easily print multiple different images on the same sheet (not conact sheet, but print package) by using the "Multiple Print" tab. That feature is now gone. I would estimate 95% of users print multiple different images on a sheet. Is this one of the purposes for purchasing Photo Essentials - to be able to have multiple print capability?
No documentation available, no multiple print capability, and I have not even searched yet for other Elements 8 reductions, nor will I do so at this time. I guess I won't even look at Premier 8. This product will be un-installed and put on the shelf. I'll return to Elements 5 and Photoscape, a FREE software package which rivals Elements 8 (and has lots of FREE documentation).
I know that Elements fanatics mwill blast this post, but I have olny two questions for them. Am I the only one encountering problems which this package (according to this forum, I'chm not), and second is what I have stated in here wrong? If I am wrong, I'll reinstall and check the product again.

Multiple Files/picture package/contact sheets: Start from the Organizer and you'll find them under Select Type of Print->Select Layout in the print window.
OnOne is a completely separate company that put an ad in the box, the same way you often find flyers for other products in the box when you buy software.

The brush size circle disappears and I'm left with a crosshairs only

What do I do? This happens occasionally-out of nowhere the brush tool stops showing as a circle of specfic diameter and shows as a crosshairs, which does me no good whatever. This goes for all tools using the brush presets-brush, eraser, and stamp. I can't do anything. because I can't see the tool I'm working with. I tried restarting PS, then restarting with trashed prefs. Neither worked. I know that sooner or later it will come back and all wil be well, but meanwhile, the deadlines are creeping closer & closer. The enemy is at the gates. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks for the tips. I didn't know about the caps lock issue, and I am ham-fisted enough to smash down the caps lock key inadvertently. I'll look into the graphics card driver. It's an AMD Radeon so it should be up-to-date via the Mac update system. I hope it's caps lock. That I can fix. Thanks again.

How do I change the brush tip of the refine edge tool?

Problems opening up RAW files in the Adobe elements 12 editor

I just installed Elements12 on my Windows Desktop.
Operating System Windows XP SP3, Quad Core Processor 2.4GhZ, 3Gb RAM (based on these spec, I should be meeting minimum system requirements)
My camera's RAW format (Rebel 4Ti, CR2) is supported by the installed Camera RAW version (8.0.0.xx).
I had no problems opening up the RAW file into Camera Raw. I performed the basic adjustments and save the image as a .DNG file. No problems so far.
(1) I then tried to open the RAW file into the Elements Editor by clicking on "OPEN Image" in Camera RAW. I goes the error message that this action could not be completed due to a program error.
(2) I also tried to open the .DNG file directly. I got an error message telling me I had not enough RAM to complete this action (see above, I have 3Gb installed)
Can anybody advise me what to do, or what the problem is>

You might start looking for a new computer with windows 7 or 8 64 bit.
Not because windows xp is a bad operating system, but it's not supported by microsoft any longer and more and more software companies are dropping support for xp.
(even one of my favorite open source programs; Krita, dropped support for windows xp)
Plus, new programs seem to be more and more ram hungry and a 64 bit version of windows can make a world of difference.

After 2 mos, Adobe Elements 12 Editor won't open

Worked fine before, now Editor won't open at all either from the Organizer or from anywhere else, such as Lightroom. Suggestions please

Interesting. I just closely examined the error dialogs I was getting when PSE 12 failed to launch. There were numerous problems with case sensitivity errors for various frameworks inside the application. For instance, one of the errors complained that it could not find the "AdobeLinguistic" framework. The reason evidently is that the name was actually spelled without capitals. It was "adobelinguistic". I manually correct quite a number of these types of errors by renaming the offending area in the Framworks section of the application bundle. This continued with each launch. I'd get a new error. I'd correct it and try again. Another error. Another correction. Finally, it got past all the issues and launched PSE 12. However, at that point, there was some internal error in PSE 12 (no surprise) that prevented it from running yet didn't show any kind of dialog where I could attempt to perform any further corrections. I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that I have my disk partition setup as a case sensitive partition. If someone else has a disk that is not case sensitive, I suspect they wouldn't see this error.
I've reported this as a bug on the Photoshop Family Customer Community in the hopes that someone from Adobe will see it and take corrective action.
I realize that some of you may find this post over your head a bit technically and for that I apologize. But since I had already posted here earlier, I wanted to get this out so people would understand that there does appear to be a real issue with PSE 12. We'll see what Adobe has to say.

I have Elements 11 and the Brush Tool continues to stop working.

I've reset all tools, completely shut down my macbook but nothing is working.

Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 settings
and any lockfiles with the same names.
If you are using 10.7 or higher, that library is hidden. To see it, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the Option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. In 10.7 and up, while you're in there, also go to the Saved Application States and delete any for PSE.
Repair permissions (any version of OS X) and try again.

The Firefox icon often disappears from the toolbar when I go to another window like Outlook or Media Player. When I close down all other windows it reappears again. What can I do about that?

When it has disappeared I can open Firefox again using the menu or the opening icon on the toolbar, but then it only shows up blank, so without the tabs that were opened before. Closing down all other icons on the toolbar is the only way to make the Firefox icon reappear and for me to open Firefox again with all my tabs.
Please excuse my English, the jargon is difficult.

It really is odd, since I had it at least twice a week for several months.
So far, so good, then.
I'll wait a while more, and will then close it as being solved. I guess that's the procedure.
We'll put it down to temporary bugs or pc mysteries.
Though I like the magic option more...

Why doesn't "Elements 10 Editor only" allow the use of Nik Software plug ins??

I was very excited yesterday when I noticed in the Apple App store that a version of Elements called "Elements 10 Editor only" was for sale. Since I never use the Organizer this is perfect for me. Unfortunately, it will not allow Nik software plugins to be installed. There is no "plugins folder" included. In every other way the "Elements 10 Editor only" version is wonderful. Loads fast, runs clean and fast and is just a wonderful product, and something I've been hoping would come along for years. I can't believe Adobe didn't allow for the use of plug-ins. Looks like I just wasted $80.
Any suggestions or work-arounds to allow plug ins to be used?

Thank you, Barbara! I spent considerable time today on the phone with Nik Software. Both Viveza and Color Efex will work on the full version of Elements 10. NOT on the version "Elements 10 EDITOR ONLY". The reason is because Adobe did not include a plug in folder when they released Elements 10 EDITOR ONLY. Thanks, Barbara for the screen shot..however, the Editor only version has no folders at all!!! It's really strange. Why would Adobe release an Editor Only version of Elements that doesn't work with plug ins? I allowed Nik Software techs remote access to my Mac, and while version 9 has the same folder breakdown you provided, this Editor Only version of 10 has nothing except the application icon! You have been wonderfully helpful as usual, Barbara, thank you very much. It looks, though that I just wasted $80. Oh well, back to PSE9 !
Here's an update....using your method..I was able to find a folder for plug-ins within the program file. Used it to try and install Viveza and Color Efex, but Adobe says it "does not accept that type of file".

In Apr 2013 I downloaded Adobe Elements Organizer. I can't get it to work. I paid $109.49 for it and never could use it. Did I download the wrong thing? And what can I do about it?

Photoshop Elements 11 - which contains Photoshop Elements 11 and the Elements Organizer
or

Check your online order details and tell us which it was you bought (DON'T post any serial numbers here though).
From your description of what happens when you clicked on the Video / Photo Editor options you currently have installed Photoshop Elements and the Elements Organizer.
Your actual problem is nothing to do with the application installations, but the fact that the file you imported into the Organizer is no longer in the location it was in when you imported it.
This could be because you moved it somewhere else using your OS file system, deleted it, or it was on a memory card, USB thumbdrive, or removable hard drive that is either no longer connected, or now has a different drive letter than when it was originally connected.
In the Organizer select Find> All Missing Files and let the Organizer search your computer for them (that could take a while). If it finds them let it reconnect them for you. You should then be able to edit them by right-clicking the thumbnail and selecting "Edit with Photoshop Elements Editor".
Possibly one other misconception - you may be thinking that if you open the Editor all your photos are visible there for editing. That is not how it works - to edit a file you have to open it either from the Organizer (as described above) or in the editor with the File> Open dialog.
Hope this helps to explain things a little better. Try and find your files to edit and come back to us if you still have difficulties.

Adobe Elements 11 from OS X App Store Crashing

Hi,
Just recently purchased Adobe Elements 11 off the APP Store.
It wont even open without crashing.
It seem like it should be a simple error to fix but I cannot find any information with regards to solving the problem. Please see the information below.

Thanks for reply but I cannot even get Photoshop elements to start. I click on the app to open it and it crashes within a few seconds. No interface even appear to work with.
Does the error above you an idea of what the problem may be?
