Adobe flash install help

i am attempting to install a new version of adobe flash player.  During install I get the message to close "com.apple.webkit.plugin.65"  I don't know how to close this or even where to find it...installation stalls at that point.

Hi edmundog98042911,
Currently Flash Player requires all applications that may be using it to be closed before installation begins. If it can't identify the exact name of the app, it'll show the process name, which is what you're seeing.  You can try to use the Activity Monitor (viewing all processes from all users) to identify the process and if so, kill it via the Activity Monitor.
We are changing this behaviour in an upcoming release of Flash Player, where the installation process will not require the closing of apps that are using it and instead leave it up to the user to close the app at a convenient time and relaunch to load the newly installed Player.  This functionality is currently available in the latest beta version posted at Download Adobe Flash Player 18 Beta for Desktops - Adobe Labs.  If you decide to install the beta do keep in mind that performance/functionality may be unstable.  To revert to the release version, simply uninstall the beta (uninstaller is also posted on the same page) and then go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer to download the release version.

    1. Install Adobe Flash Player.

Follow the prompts.   Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins

How do I watch flash based videos without adobe flash installed using Safari?

Once you have Chrome installed, activate the Develop menu in Safari (go to Safari Preferences > Advanced > Show Develop Menu). You then will see under the Develop menu the Open Page With option and Chrome will be listed there.
So each time you open a page with Safari requiring Flash, you use that menu option to open the same page in Chrome.

    do i keep this?
No, just go ahead and drag it to the Trash can and drop it in there.
In the folder called "Downloads" next to your Trash can will be something like
    install_flash_player_osx_intel.dmg
Also drag this to the Trash Can and from the Finder menu select Empty Trash to delete these two items.
If there is anything else in the Downloads Folder that you don't know or want, remove it and/or drop it in the Trash too so the Downloads folder is empty.
We don't want any mistakes to happen, just in case you perhaps did download the fake Flash installer which is a trojan.
Next click this link and visit this web page and click the download button.
This is the REAL Flash player plug-in for your web browser so you can watch videos online.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Once it's downloaded it will be the only thing in your Downloads folder, close your web browsers and double click the large Flash Player icon and doubleclick the installer icon in the window that appears. Your launching the installer program.
A OS X warning will appear to let you know, click "Open".
There is a small checkbox on the left side of the Flash installer that you need to check to enable the Install button, you'll need to enter your Admin password, once completed just quit the installer and restart your web browser. You can then browse to the Flash video site and watch videos.
Once in a awhile a notification will appear to update Flash, simply visit the web page at the link I gave you and repeat the same proocedure.

  • I can't install Adobe Flash Player HELP!

I just got my MacBook Pro and I'm trying to install Adobe Flash Player but there seems to be a problem and I dont know what it is, it starts installing and it says it is fully installed but when I open youtube it says I need to download it. Does someone know whats wrong

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
    Step 1
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 2
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    Step 3
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 4
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 5
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 6
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    Step 7
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Need to install an update for Adobe Flash Player, Help?

How do I install an update for an Adobe Flash Player on my Mac Mini?

Installing the Flash Update on your Mac
This is what I had to do to install it; I'm using OS X 10.9 Mavericks; you may get different results if you're still using Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion (earlier OSs)
I encourage you to do backup your system, download and install the Free, most current operating system for Macs, Mavericks OS X 9.
At some point, Adobe Flash will offer you the opportunity to update itself. It's a good idea, to do so.
Step 1 will be to download the Update .dmg file, which installs the update.
It will probably be in your Downloads folder; double click on it.
When the folder presents itself in a new Finder window, double-click on it.
At some point in the Install, it will pop up a notice to Shut Down Safari/Opera/Chrome/Firefox (all Browsers).  That's easy.
It will also likely insist that you shut down a Dashboard Client.  Only the Dashboard Client won't show when you try Force Quit (Option-Command-Escape).
Here's what I had to do, to make it work; there may be a more efficient way, but I didn't find it.
Here's what worked for me, and I'm going to spell it all out the Dummy way, 'cause that's how I need things done for me! : )
Click on an empty space on the Desktop to activate Finder. In the Finder Menu (top) click on the GO tab (top menu) and scroll down to Utilities. Click on the Activity Monitor. In the CPU tab (any of them will work), Click onDock and, holding the Command button (Splat) next to the Space Bar, click on all incidents of Dashboard Client.  They're easy to find-- they all have a little grey folder icon to the left of them.
Click on VIEW in the top menu, scroll down to Select Processes, and click on that. The window will simplify and isolate, showing only the selected processes that are keeping you from installing the Flash update.
Then click on the big red stop sign at the top (Quit Process).... (This didn't work for me. No 'Stop' sign.)
Alternately, once you've 'collected' the appropriate files, click on and select each one individually, go up to View in the top menu, scroll down to Quit Process. After a brief pause, it will quit. Quit all of the processes selected.
Make sure everything else is closed and then try to install the Flash Player again. It should work! (Fingers crossed!)
'Always a good idea to Reboot, afterwards, and you should be good to go.

  • How do i keep adobe flash installed on windows 7 with IE9

I have been having a lot of trouble, i have windows 7, 64 and 32 bit with Internet Explorer 9, I can download Adobe Flashplayer fine, but will loose the install after I shutdown and re start my computer, I have tried many different ways that was suggested by different web sites, none work for the long haul.  The control panel shows 32 bit adobe flash Active X 11.6.602.180 and plugin, 11.6.602.180 but will not open with going to the download site again, and re download with the same results after shutdown.  I am at a loss for thought, please advise what to do.  Thanks Richard Holes,

    Hi Richard,
I'd like to investigate what's occurring on your system.  Would you be willing to run the following steps to generate a debug log for me?  If this looks like too much work, please let me know and if you're willing we can schedule a quick desktop sharing session so I can do this on your system for you.
    1. Download the flash_report.bat file attached to this post and extract it to a folder on your desktop
    2. Download “SetACL (executable version)_2.zip” from: http://bit.ly/WEppuY
    3. Extract the appropriate “SetACL.exe” from either the 64 bit or 32 bit folder and place it alongside the flash_report.bat file that you extracted in step 1.
    3. Right click flash_report.bat and select “Run as administrator”
Once run, please copy/paste the contents of the flashreport.txt file into a reply or email to me at [email protected]
If you'd like to try fixing this issue, please walk through the steps outlined in this FAQ and let me know if they helped.
How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player?

  • Adobe Flash Install Problem

After numerous Flash crashes I tried to uninstall/reinstall newest Flash Player with Mozilla Firefox ~ unsuccessfully. Next I tried to complete a "clean install" of the newest Adobe Flash Player using Internet Explorer on my Windows XP. Uninstall & delete files seems to have worked but, I save the install download to my desktop, choose run program and the run program dialogue box disappears then the install program icon disappears from my desktop and there seems to be no evidence of any Flash Player download at all anywhere in my system that I can find. Despite redoing these steps, the results remain the same. What is happening and what can I do to be able to successfully download Flash Player again? Add ons + security features are not set to prevent this as far as I can tell. I had the latest version with occasional crash problems prior to this attempt to correct that, but now I have nothing. Help!

If you are trying to install Flash Player on Mozilla Firefox, you need to download Flash Player using Firefox. I think you downloaded Flash Player using Internet Explorer. I am not clear on why the downloaded Flash Player file disppears from your machine.
Could you please download Flash Player from the following link:  http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header
    (the second link)
Close all browsers and double-click the file you downloaded.
    Thanks,

"GetPlus+(R) The specified software requires a recent version of windows" and I can't proceed with instalation. I have already done a virus verification with Kasperky and it's OK. I have Windows XP (SP3) and Internet Explorer 7.
Thank you very much for your help!

Hi, Don't use that DLM(download manager) since it can cause a problem.
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Close all browser windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop.
Disable any messenger services, as yahoo, msn, etc in the system tray(area near the clock)
Disable any Realtime Anti-Virus until you have finished Uninstalling and Installing Flash Player
Be sure to use the Administrator Account.
Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Check to make sure the Anti-Virus is still Disabled
Run the Installer for IE,  and when finished, Reboot.
    Re-enable your Anti-Virus
Then go to this test site and test each browser:
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
You may want to print these instructions to make it easier to follow. If you have any questions, let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Flash Player Help Please !!

    Greetings,
Here is the story.  I just bought a new iMac running 10.83.  The problem I'm having is that I cannot watch any of the news site videos because they all ask for Adobe Flash Player.  I have downloaded Adobe and am not getting any results.  The video starts to run, but then either stops and/or looses the sound. Examples of sites are loacal news, CNN and Weather Channel.  Nothing seems to work.
This has become really frustrated.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Just do not understand why I'm not able to get this up and going.
    Thanks,
    Ted

Two bugs, one affecting Apple's Mac platform and another attacking Microsoft's Windows, exploit certain Flash player vulnerabilities to install malware onto users' systems, reports ArsTechnica. While users of other operating systems like Linux have yet to report attacks, Adobe's advisory notes the exploit affects all platforms.
Designated as CVE-2013-0634, the first vulnerability targets the Safari and Firefox Web browsers running on OS X, and is also being used as a trojan to deploy Microsoft Word documents containing malware. For Mac users, the flaw affects Adobe Flash Player version 11.5.502.146 or earlier.
On March 1 Apple again blocked Flash Player for Lion and Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5660
The Adobe Flash patch can be found on Adobe’s website, and users can visit this page to check if their software is the most curent version.
You should uninstall any previous version first, and repair permissions after installing the new version.
If you still get a ‘plug-ins blocked’ message:

  • Adobe flash player help needed urgently!

cannot locate adobe flash player (AFP) after installing in windows 7, ie11.. wanted to open an animation and it suggested installing AFP... can anyone help urgently?

Launch Internet Explorer and navigate to http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
If you see an animation playing, then Flash Player is enabled.
If you don’t see an animation playing, then Flash Player is not enabled. In that case, click on the Tools icon in the top right corner of Internet Explorer. (The icon looks like a cogwheel.)
In the drop-down menu which appears, click Manage Add-Ons.
In the dialog which appears, select Toolbars and Extensions.
In the list of Add-ons, look for “Shockwave Flash Object” – which is another name for Flash Player.
In the Status column, check to see whether Shockwave Flash Object is Disabled. If it is, click the row for Shockwave Flash Object to highlight it.
In the bottom right corner of the Manage Add-ons dialog, click the Enable button.
    Close the Manage Add-ons dialog.
Click Refresh to reload the webpage. If you see the animation playing this time, then Flash Player has been successfully enabled.
