Adobe ID Deauthorizations

I have apparently exceed the maximum allowable devices associated to my Adobe ID. I have tried the web chat and the call center and they were no help. I need to have all devices deauthorized so I can re-authorize the ones I am currently using. Does anyone know how to do this or where to go or who to contact who actually knows how to do this?
Thanks!

I guess by the web chat you mean  Adobe Live Chat: http://www.adobe.com/support/chat/ivrchat.html ?
Most other people who have tried them had success, though I have seen comments similat to yours before as well.
I guess that some of the staff aren't properly trained to read the correct bit of script about deauthorizing.
I suggest you try them again, and hope you get a differeent person at the other end.

  • Why can Adobe not deauthorize a reader?

I have spent 2 hours on the phone being passed between tech support and customer support and none of them undestands how Digital Editions and authorisation works - most people did not even know what the software was!
All I want is for Adobe to remove the details of a Sony Reader from my Adobe ID as I have sold it and the new owner needs to authorise it to his Adob ID.
I do not have the device now, he does.  I did not know I had to deauthorise it before selling, as I never used DE after installing it. I only used free
    Ebooks
How hard can this be?  Surely if Adobe are implementing DRM then you must be able to manage it correctly? Why is there seemingly no knowledge of which depratment can handle de/authorisations?
How can I allow the new owner to use the device with DE to purchase online ebooks?
    Thanks
    Blonkster

    Two problems:
1.) You can only deactivate the Reader if you have the Reader.  So you'll want to communicate to the person that bought it the following:
    - Plug in Reader onto a Windows machine where they have Digital Editions authorized against their AdobeID (authorization/deauthorization of Sony Readers, currently only works on Windows)
    - After noticing that the Reader is recognized, press "Ctrl-Shift-E" which will bring up the device deactivation dialog
    - Following the deactivation, unplug and replug the Sony Reader and they should be present with the device activation dialog
2.) Adobe only offers support for Digital Editions via Web   (click on the "Submit a web case" link). Calling tech support would be unhelpful, but they normally just tell you that up front, so it's suprising/upsetting that they bounced you around.
    Edit:
(But since I already told you this on the MobileRead forums, why did you waste your time with support, or did that happen beforehand?)

How To Change the Authorized Adobe ID
    http://www.adobe.com/go/digital-editions-createID
What do you do if your copy of Adobe Digital Editions is authorized with the wrong Adobe ID? This can happen if you’ve started using a different Adobe ID or you somehow messed up the authorization in the past.
If you’re trying to open an ebook when Adobe Digital Editions is authorized with the wrong Adobe ID, you’ll get an error message like: “License fulfilled by a different user” or something similar referencing licensing or authorization.
Important note: If you have some ebooks that do require your current authorization, those will become unreadable if you authorize with a different Adobe ID.
    deauthorize
The first thing to do is deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions. This will remove your current authorization.
    1. Open Adobe Digital Editions
    2. On your keyboard, simultaneously press the Ctrl, Shift, and D buttons (if on Windows) or the Cmd, Shift, and D buttons (if on a Mac)
    3. Click the “Deauthorize” button
After this you should close Adobe Digital Editions, and then open it again.
    re-authorize
If you’ve followed the steps above, your copy of Adobe Digital Editions is no longer authorized.
    Open Adobe Digital Editions
Adobe Digital Editions will behave as if you’ve just installed it, and will prompt you to enter your login information for your Adobe ID. Use the Adobe ID account information that you want to use to authorize Adobe Digital Editions.

  • New drive question

After the last update, my main drive would not boot on my G5. It was 4 years old and I have had so many problems with 10.5.6, I bought a new drive and installed it. I have had problems with programs not running after 10.5.4 so I installed 10.5.3.
I am able to mount the old drive and I dragged a lot of applications over. I have 2 questions, though.
    1. Most applications, when I try to run ask for the installation code. This isn't a problem, as the program runs once I enter it. The problem is with the Adobe products. It won't let me enter the installation code. Instead, I get a message that the installation is incorrect and to reinstall the program. Some of the programs like Photoshop won't let me install from a previous version if it is an update. I have to install 5, then 6, etc.
Is there a file on the old disk that I can drag over to the new drive to avoid this?
    2. Is there any way to access the old emails and desktop? I had a couple of programs that I purchased online mounted on the desktop that I would like to burn to a DVD.
    Thanks in advance.

In regard to Adobe: it used to be the case, up thru Photoshop CS1, that you could indeed move the programs to another drive by either cloning your old drive to the new, or by copying (provided you know where ALL the files are and copy appropriately). You could run off of either the original drive or the cloned drive and the programs would launch and run just fine. Such is no longer the case. Adobe has changed the way things work and you must install them where they are to reside. You may even have to contact Adobe and deauthorize the old install before you can get the new one registered--since I decided not to do the upgrade to CS4 I'm not sure about that, but I have heard stories. I do know that even Elements 6 will not run when I boot from my clone, although it runs just fine on the normal startup disk. Bottom line: your best bet is to re-intall the Adobe apps. You should not have to install all the iterations, just the one you are using, and it should ask you for the original serial number (the one you used before the upgrade install), and then the serial for the current upgrade.
Also, you probably need to make sure all traces of the old Adobe stuff are gone before doing the new install. Do a search on uninstall, it is not necessarily easily done. You may be able to remove everything necessary with the Adobe uninstaller.

Need help to deauthorize my adobe id to ios devices.

That will depend which Adobe DRM reader app you are running on the IOS device.
It should either be under some settings within the app itself,
or in app section within the general settings area of the device.
Might be best to do a google search for 'deauthorize bluefire ios'
(replacing bluefire with whatever your app is).

    Jeffrey hello,
    Quit iTunes...
Download Cocktail and start the program... click on the 'interface' Icon and tick 'Show Invisible Items' then click the Restart button... or use Onyx to do the same thing (Make files visible).
In a finder window click on the Icon that is your Boot Volume in the Side Bar ... select users ... select shared folder ... select the folder named 'SC info' and put it in the trash and empty it ... Do Not touch any other file.
Pathway looks like this HD > users > shared > SC info > SC Info.sidb
Go back to the Cocktail 'interface' window and untick Show Invisible Items and click restart .. quit Cocktail.... if you used Onyx or any other program to make the files visible, use the same program and set it all back the way it was important
Start iTunes after deleting this folder... iTunes will prompt you to enter your authorization information again ... see now if your problem still exists...
Let's know how you get on Jeffrey ... take care ... TP

  • Can I register two Adobe IDs on one Laptop?

Can I register two Adobe IDs on one laptop .... and, if so, how? I think this is what I need to do; we have two Sony Readers and just one laptop. Any advice would be much appreciated .... many thanks.

    Hello Jannette92
You can authorize to play his and your content but you are going to want to stay away from singing in and out each others Apple ID in the same iTunes library as that can lock out one of the Apple ID’s for 90 days. The best way to handle that is to create a separate user and have it just for his stuff and then use your user for just your iPhone.

  • Can I add  a second account to Adobe Digital Editions

I have two adobe reader accounts. One for my family one for personnel use. The computer has my personnel account on it. I want to add the family account to add books to my wifes nook. Can not seem to find out how to do that

    Hi manobird,
If you used one ID to install ADE, you cannot download an ebook from a site into ADE if you used a different ID.  That's the way the Digital
Millenium Copyright Act of 2000 was implemented to prevent unauthorized copying of ematerials.  ADE tells you that in its HELP section.  You can't add a second ID to ADE either, for the same reason.
What you CAN do is to change users, and authorize ADE with the same ID you used when you downloaded the ebook.  You do this by bringing ADE up, then using the CNTLSHIFTD key combination, you will deauthorize ADE.  Close ADE and reopen it, and ADE should ask you to authorize it.  At this point, you can enter the second ID, and ADE will take off from there.  BUT, keep in mind that any other ebooks you downloaded into ADE with the first ID will not be accessible until you go through the same process again and revert to the first ID.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can a standard Adobe ID Suite be installed on more than one computer? If not; how can an educator buy a second seat on another computer with the same educators account?

Adobe requires an ID account to install software on a single computer. However I have a portable Mac as well as a desktop system. Can I install another copy with the monthly paid installation on the second computer or do I need to buy another seat with the same account?

    Hey tferm78!
I have a couple of options for you to consider. First, you may simply want to authorize all of your computers for your iTunes account and turn on Automatic Downloads, so that when you download something on one computer, it will automatically download to other computers:

You could also look into iTunes Match, a service that would seamlessly link all of your iTunes libraries:
