Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
I have Windows 7 I just installed Adobe photoshop CS5 Extended. It starts fine but when I start to open a picture I get the message
Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working windows will shut it down.
Any ideas of what the problem is.
Mylenium, why do you feel there is a need to run the first time as Administrator? Do you know of install failures that would leave files or registry entries with improper permissions? I've not been hearing of this behavior with the new versions; certainly Photoshop has known about Windows' UAC feature for quite a long time.
Rjleys, I suggest that you try (before opening an image) going into Edit - Preferences - Performance and disabling the [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing setting. Close and restart Photoshop after making this change.
If this works around the problem, you should update your video drivers from the web site of the manufacturer of your video card. It may be that the OpenGL operations Photoshop is trying to perform may be causing a fault in your drivers, resulting in an applilcation crash.
What kind of video card do you have?
Here are the links to the driver update pages for the two big video card makers:

Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (Win 7, 64 bit)
I am trying to run Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I open the program, I get an error saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working", immediately after the splash screen goes away and the main gui opens. The only option on the error is "Close Program".
I am on a computer with an i7 processor and 12GB of memory. I have two Nvidia GTS 250 video cards, running four monitors.
Over the course of the last day, I have reformatted my computer, and reinstalled Windows twice. I have reinstalled the CS5 Master Suite more times than I can remember. I have also downloaded and installed the latest video card drivers from Nvidia.
I continue to have the same problem every time I try to open any of the programs in the CS5 suite.
The only time I have come close to getting it to work was immediately after installing the new Nvidia drivers, before restarting my computer. I was able to open it one time without it crashing, Once I restarted my computer, Photoshop continued to give me the same error every time I try to open it.
I have no other software installed on my computer. It is a brand new installation of Windows 7.
I have been on the phone with Adobe technical suuport for about an hour and a half, and I have yet to get a single suggestion other than attempting an install with my network cable unplugged. Other than that, they seem to be fond of transfering me back and forth between departments (and asking me to repeat all of my information every time).
As you can probably tell, I am very frustrated at this point and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
TrevorMy scenario and history:

NVidia Quadro Fx 4500 driving 4 monitors total SLi on or off - makes no difference. Drivers irrelevant.
2 x Xeon 5160 (so total 4 cores)
24Gb RAM
PS CS 4 or 5
4 monitors - - yep it is the 4 monitor thing.
Fails everytime as you describe.
Observation - If you Remote Desktop Connection onto the computer - and so in effect are using only ONE monitor - PS works fine.
A WORKAROUND for 4 or 5 - I don't consider this a fix because you lose some functionality but it gets you 99% there and is the same workaround for CS4 or 5
Go to<drive>:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64bit)\Plug-ins\Extensions\ (or CS4 - depending on version)
Locate File:
ScriptingSupport.8li
Disable this extension by renaming the file with a tilde in front of the file name. Thus:
~ScriptingSupport.8li
Start Photoshop - it works and is mainly functional.
The only real downside I have discovered is that disabling this scripting extension means you cannot use some of the built in scripts under FILE - SCRIPTS - the biggest PIA for me being the Contact Sheet builder no longer works. But as I now use Lightroom to create contact sheets - this is not a big loss. Other scripting functionality - I am sure is affected - but not to a point I find PS unusable.
ADOBE - if you read this - it has been that extesion now for the last two editions of PS. -
Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working [Issue]
Hello everyone! I recently just purchased Adobe CS5 as being very excited as I've been a customer before the CS series! Anyways, the install and registration with Adobe was no problem what so ever, I got to uninstall CS4 quite easily, it all worked. So, I've read the other topic of "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working" and this is not my problem! However, once I'm in CS5. I do a couple things, zoom in Navigation, enter some text, move a couple layers and it tells me it has stopped working. This is happening very often every so 1-3 minutes, so I've been living with it for about 2 days (IT has FINALLY passed the line, where I rip my hair out! Hehe, ). So now I'm deciding I post the problem!
Computer Specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate x86
Intel Pentium Dual Core 3.20GHz (OC)
ATi Radeon HD 4670
3GB DDR2After work.. I will be upgrading video card drivers to see if this makes a difference, only solution related to my topic in Adobe FAQs.

Need advice - "Adobe photoshop CS5 has stopped working" upon startup
Hi All,
Hopefully someone can assist me with this as this seems to be a fairly common problem.
Basically, upon starting up PS it comes up with the error message:
"Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working..."
I'm just working off a surface pro 2 with 256gb ram, i5 processor (I think)
I’ve installed no new drivers of late and not undertaken any system changes that I can think of that would affect the program.
Funnily enough it’s the same problem across all the adobe suite e.g. illustrator and indesign both won’t start up (illustrator has the same message whereas indesign’s error message mentions that it requires a certain amount of free disk space).
Hopefully that is enough info. Please ask if there is anything else that you would need to know in order to ascertain the problem.
For reference here is the excerpt from the windows error log:
Faulting application name: Photoshop.exe, version: 12.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4bbc5b10

Fingers crossed someone can help as I’m at the end of my wits here (my laptop died recently leaving me my tablet to finish some artwork for a deadline and now PS etc won’t work leaving me with nothing!).
Cheers

Error: Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (Windows 7)
Photoshop started throwing this error message yesterday out of the blue, I've no idea what, if anything, on my computer has changed to cause it to happen - it's been working uninterrupted for over a year.
I've tried a few things mentioned in other posts and on other forums (removing possible problem fonts, renaming plugins) but my problem seems to be slightly different - Photoshop crashes as soon as it's finished loading, not when opening a file or an image, so I can't get into any menus to disable OpenGL, filters, or change any settings.
That also means that I can't deactivate Photoshop, and I can't uninstall it because Adobe Application Manager throws the same error. Illustrator CS5 now also throws the same error when I start it.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (weird)
Hallo Friends, This i my first post here, hope to help me to get rid this problem of.
well i'm using
Photoshop CS5 (Extended) With Sum Plugins
Alien SKin Bokeh
Nik Color Efex Pro
Dfine
Imagenomic Portraiture
when i had CS4, no problems were happening.
===
when i work with this plugins. doesn't matter which one, it sumtimes crashes and say, Adobe Photosop Has Stopped Working,
i really have no clue, how this issue can be fixed.. any suggestions would be much appreciated
My PC
Inter Core II Duo (E8400
VGA Card- Nvidia 8600 GT ( I have updated the latest driver to ENABLE OPEN GL)
2 GB OF RAM
350 HDD
=
OS Vesion: Windows 7 X86As a plugin developer myself, I can tell you that the problem is most likely in the plugin if it starts/stops working properly because of changes to the memory size allocated to Photoshop.
It's unbelievable how many people fail to program simple error handling robustness into their code - the error in this case being insufficient memory in which to work. In most cases it takes no more effort than this:
BufferPointer = malloc(RequiredSize);
if (BufferPointer == NULL)
*gResult = memFullErr;
return;
(Note that I usually frown on return from within a module myself; this is just an example - I prefer a single function exit at the bottom)
Given that the consequence of using a bad pointer can be crashing Photoshop and the loss of the user's work, you'd think plugin designers would be more concerned with proper error handling.
-Noel
P.S., Depending on what else you'd like to be able to do on your system while running Photoshop, it isn't out of the question to allocate quite a bit more memory than you have to Photoshop in the Performance settings (e.g., 75% or even higher). The thing to do is to try it. -
Photoshop CS5 opens and says "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working"
Hey guys.. I hit this problem tonight after trying for several hours to open Adobe PS CS5.
Photoshop worked earlier today and i have made no changes on my PC since running PS again.
I am running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64bit
I have tried Pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT to delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings File with no success.
I have rebooted my computer several times.
I have ran as administrator.
As far as I can tell it has something to do with KERNELBASE.dll
You guys are my last chance.. THANK !
Brandon (Y0URD4MS31F)

Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working with (Wacom CINTIQ21UX)
Has this been addressed?
I have been following this thread pretty closely
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/633937?tstart=0
It clears up the issue with multiple screens but doesnt address the issue with Adobe Photoshop CS5 not being able to load with the latest Wacom Cintiq 6.1.5-3a driver. I have tried the 6.1.2-5 driver able to load photoshop CS5 and calibrate my pen. but Photoshop wont recognize pressure sensitivty, rotation, tilt, any of the brush settings from the drop down it flags a caution yield sign, which is better than not having any pen.
Just wanted to know if someone found a way around it. or if Adobe or Wacom is actually working on a patch to address the error. At this point I am thinking about reverting back to Adobe Photoshop CS3.My scenario and history:
Windows Vista Ultimate and now Windows 7 Ultimate
Photoshop CS5 has stopped working and shuts down
I purchased Photoshop CS5 in March 2011 and after trying to install software I was unable to do anything in Photoshop without getting the following error message: "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working". A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I was unable to open any psd file or new file withouth that error message. After you close that error message window, Photoshop immediately closes down. I had someone from Adobe remotely fix this problem. Now it is appearing again and I am unable to use the program. I need help with this. Please.
There's a similar discussion on this thread that could help you: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/633937

Photoshop CS5 has stopped working while I draw.
So I have Photoshop CS5 extended and Im using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 260m 1gb video card. A Asus G60Vx laptop. 4gb of ram.
So heres the story. When Im drawing on a picture it could be from 5 to 45 minutes of drawing photoshop will all of the sudden crash with the error saying "Adobe photoshop cs5 has stopped working" and i have to close the program losing all of the progress in my drawing.
I have called and talked to 3 different Adobe Reps that I can hardly understand... and have done ALL of the suggestions they have given to. From dragging the settings folder to the desktop from dragging the plugins folder to the desktop to reinstalling the program which i have done twice. Also *I use no 3rd party plugins ONLY A WACOM PEN AND TOUCH TABLET** Regarding the Tablet I have called Wacom and they have no clue of how to fix this issue either I have reinstalled it and updated the latest driver for it. Still nothing. Im am getting very upset I NEED* this for my college class... and NO ONE can help me. Everyone I talk to acts like they have no clue what to do they are just giving me steps that i follow that lead me to nothing. just the same problem. Please someone help me through this. I had been using this program and tablet FINE for like 2 or 3 months and just last week it starting doing this.function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
Mylenium wrote:
I would also definitely clean out my drive using CCleaner and run a defragmentation. Could well be that too much fragmentation is preventing PS from expanding its temporary files beyond a certain point and then it goes belly up....
Windows 7 keeps its drives defragged all by itself and it will tell you about drives getting full.
A better approach would be to scout around in the Windows System Event Log and see if it's logging any failures.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 has Stopped Working on Windows 7
Hey guys and girls. I recently got a new computer running Windows 7 64bit. I still have good ol photoshop cs4 and wanted to use it on this new computer. The install process was completed and as I started the program, I get the "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working" box. I've looked through some forums, and a lot of them mention the wacom tablet issue, which is not the issue since I've yet to install the drivers for my tablet. Has anyone come across this problem at all? This is what shows up when I get that error box.
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WERCA9F.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WERE1B8.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\WERE246.tmp.mdmp
Please help, thanks in advanceThe first thing that I would do is insure that you have the latest video driver installed (but do keep any older ones, just in case you must roll-back - newest is not always the best).
If that does not help, then open Even Viewer, and check for all warning, or error messages in System and Application tabs, for the time that PS crashed. If you find any with links, follow those links - be patient, as some might take a few moments to send data to MS, and then for MS to process it, to open the proper page for that link plus the data gathered. This ARTICLE goes into a bit more detail, and I do not think that it is too Adobe Premiere-centric.
Good luck,

Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working... HELP?

I make a GIF like this: File-Import-Video Frames to Layers.
Oh, and I have a Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended.You'll probably going to have to uninstall, then re-install the application; but you need to provide a lot more information;

I recently purchased a new desktop computer and installed Adobe CS3 Master Edition on it and I get the following error:
Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Out of the entire suite of tools only Photoshop will not launch. The weird thing is i also had the same Adobe programs installed on my laptop and I have not made any installation updates to that machine and i am getting the same error. I have always installed the same software on my two home machines with no problem until now. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Windows 7 " Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working "
Okay let me stir up a whole new kettle of fish WINDOWS 7 VS CS3 PHOTOSHOP.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64bit. I am running (or trying) CS3 Master suite. Most all progams function except Photoshop. I try to load it and I get "Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working" and then there is no fix and no help. Photoshop ran on Vista 64bit just fine.
I'm curious if anyone else is having this same issue? If so have you found any clue as to the issue?
I get the feeling this could be a conflict with a windows 7 update or something?
Any fixes?Try right clicking on the PS CS3 icon and run as admin. I can tell you that people have a lot of problems in running PS CS3 in Windows 7 and had to download the Windows XP virtual and run CS3 in virtual mode.
Anyways here is a link to the suite forums. They may have a better answer there for you.
