Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Folders

I recently purchased and downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and I notice that 2 folders were created in My Documents, as follows:
Folder No. 1 - Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 - 1.87GB, 163 files, 52 Folders
Folder No. 2 - Photoshop Elements 11 - 1.16GB, 151 files, 50 Folders
Is this setup correct and / or necessary? I notice that many of the files in each of the folders are similarly named and therefore wondering if something went wrong during the download / setup and that the process was duplicated?
What is the process in the event that the software needs to be downloaded again, say after doing a Windows re-installation? Can I copy the software to CD or DVD for future installation?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

One is the base installer, the otehr the content like image frames, photobook templates etc.. Backups are always  advisable. USB sticks are cheap and yopu could ebven bury one under your house for posterity...

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements Organizer Stops Working due to Sony AVCHD files

Hello I installed Adobe Photoshop elements and have been having trouble with it crashing.
To solve this problem I deleted my Catalog and added a Catalog with only one folder.
This folder has photos, in JPEG and Sony .ARW format as well as AVCHD files.
I found that by removiing the AVCHD files from the catalog the SW would no longer crash.
This really is not a practical solution since my PC has many folders with many AVC files.
I am trying to see if there is a SW patch or another way to address this issue.
    Thanks,

It might work but this is not a practical solution.
I have many picture folders on my pc and several of these have AVC files.
My intention was to use Photo Shop Essentials to edit my pictures. Unfortunately the "Organizer" app crashes when trying to work with my Catalog.
I have narrowed it down to only happening when there are AVC files in my folders. I have seen others have this issue and I found the issue by what they recommended.
Sadly if I am unable to get this to work with my current folders I will have to dump Essentials for another application.

  • I have been getting a "Runtime Error" and can't open Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor

We are using Adobe Photoshop Elements version 9.0.3 (20110328.m.11320).  For several weeks it has not been possible to open the Editor, although the Organizer opens as usual.  We get an error message that says "Runtime Error! Program: ...\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information."  What can we do to correct this problem?

Thanks, Ken!  I have to reply by e-mail, as the Forum site has been down
    for maintenance since last night.
    I am running Windows 7 Professional SP1.
Uninstalling and booting should be straightforward.  I saved the
following files in my Downloads folder from my initial installation of
    Adobe PSE 9.0 on 4/22/11:
    Adobe_Photoshop_Elements_9-AkamaiDLM.exe (355 kb application)
    PhotoshopElements_9_LS15.exe (1,200 kb application)
    PhotoshopElements_9_LS15.7z (1,838,546 kb WinRAR archive)
Will these suffice for reinstalling the program?  Can you tell me how I
should go about the reinstallation?  (I tried to find a page to download
the Adobe PSE 9.0 program on the Adobe website, but could only locate a
patch for 9.0.3, which I think must already have been included in the
    original installation.)
Also, there are four folders, corresponding to four catalogs, in
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs.  Will those survive
the uninstall/reinstall process?  Should I back them up just prior to
uninstalling to preserve them for restoration after the reinstall?
Finally, should I back up the 9.0 and Organizer folders in
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer for restoration as well?  And
    the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements folder?
Thank you.  I am grateful for your help!

If you saved the download, you can burn the file to CD or DVD and then copy the file to the computer and open the installation file when you need to install it.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Snow Leopard

Can someone please help. We recently updated from 10.4 to 10.6 and now everytime I open Photoshop (4.0) it runs for maybe 30 seconds then stops and gives a message that Photoshop unexpectedly quit. I really need this program for my school work

That software bundle disk is exactly how my daughter got her Photoshop Elements 3 originally (with a Wacom tablet, still in use). It was originally installed on the old iMac G5 PPC (10.5.8) I still use from time to time (like right now), and has survived being migrated to an iMac Intel C2D (upgraded to 10.6.8) 4 years later followed by migration to the Macbook Air (10.6.8). Which is why I am perplexed about your experience, but maybe something is different about Element 4 versus 3. [But we also have Elements 6 similarly migrated on all these machines as well.] We actually have purchased separate copies of Elements 3 and 6 over the years due to having it on multiple machines. Right now, both version are running on 3 machines under 10.6.8, so I think yours should work also! We need to find out how.
To figure out if this a problem with the computer-wide installation or rather a local user-specific problem, try running the program from another user. If you have only one user, please create a new one and then try Photoshop Elements.
If the problem is user-specific (works for users except for one user), then I suggest you move the following three files out of that user's Preferences folder to a safe location, restart, then try the program again:
Photoshop Elements 3.0 Settings (a folder)
Photoshop Elements 3.0 Paths (a folder)
    com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist (a file)
If the program works, then trash those files/folders that you moved and you are done. If the program still does not work for that user only, some more detective work may be needed.
As for the case where the program won't work for ANY user, you may need to consider reinstalling the software. For that, it is best to uninstall it first, if you have an uninstaller on your install disk (the software bundle disk). If not, one needs to search for and remove all signs of the software (the above files, the software package itself in the Applications folder, etc.). Then reinstall.
If all else fails and you have gotten tired of this, you can purchase a much newer version of Photoshop Elements (version 10, I think) that is much more capable and has been recently adapted for newer computers and operating systems. Probably ~ $100 or so. But I wouldn't give up yet.

  • Apple! Please support Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 with iTunes!

After upgrading Adobe Photoshop Elements from version 5 to version 6, pictures can not be synced. Please fix iTunes to support version 6. I have the latest itunes version 7.5.0.20 on windows.

iTunes doesn’t support syncing with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. Adobe made significant changes to the program’s internal database, which iTunes reads directly. Hacking the registry won’t work, since iTunes is expecting the older database format. Apple is finally starting to update its documents to explicitly state they only support versions 3-5, e.g.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305703
My clumsy work-around is to export the desired photos from PSE 6 into a set of Windows folders and then sync iTunes with the folders. The likelihood that Apple will fix iTunes soon seems small.

  • Photos = Adobe Photoshop Elements (Win-XP) capability / restrictions?

a-TV supposedly can sync with Adobe Photoshop Elements on Windows for its photo library. Which Elements 5.0 features are supported and will show/play right via the a-TV, and which are restricted?
    e.g.
    - Can I create slideshows in Elements?
    - Have the same photo in multiple slideshows?
    - Use multiple tags per photo to group into slideshows?
    - Use Elements Pan / Zoom / Text in slideshows?
I don't have Elements (use the MS suite), but would switch over for a-TV. Any bad experiences with Elements, particularly the photo Organizer tools?
    Thanks

I have Elements and consider myself a basic to intermediate user. I took all my 4k plus photos and put them into categories (ie, Christmas 2002, 2003, 1st Birthday, Trip to XYZ, etc). This took several hours but proved to be well worth it as the ATV picks these categories up. I do wish the ATV could let you see thumbnails of your folders in case I am looking for a particular picture but the categories is what I mainly use anyway. Now when I load pics from my camera to my pc I just immediately put them in a category or two. I'm not sure about slideshows as the categories accomplished the same thing. I think you can pick the same photo for multiple categories. Events does not seem to be recognized by ATV.

  • Do you need to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 before installing Elements 12?

Is it best to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 before installing Elements 12 or not?
If so, how do you save and transfer all Albums, Folders and Tags?
If not, do they transfer automatically?
    Thanks,

  • Can I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 on a Windows 7 machine?

Will my Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 work on new Windows 7 computer?

I am a retired computer software engineer, systems programmer, systems administrator, systems analyst, systems security manager, systems security software systems programmer for a large company (all at the same time), on IBM mainframe, unix, and pc platforms.
I just installed pse 5 on my Windows 7 64 bit pc a week or so ago, and started using it a few days ago.  Yesterday, I noticed severe problems with My Pictures.  We just had a cruise departing 10/26/2012 on the Enchantment of the Seas out of Baltimore to Bermuda, a cruise to nowhere, due to Hurricane Sandy, turned out very smooth sailing (and smooth anchoring).  I need to post photos so I started using pse 5.  I use Windows Explorer to manage my photo files.
I created an enchantment  folder for the cruise and put all our photos in it.  I created a number of folders under the enchantment folder so I could work on specific areas without changing the original photos. I was editing the photos with pse 5.  I tried copying a Halloween group of photos into the sub folder halloween, and it copied those photos into the  halloween folder, but made a duplicate of each photo copied in my enchantment folder.  So, for each photo I copied I then had two photos with the same name in the from folder, enchantment.  The 2nd one of each was not marked copy.  I have never seen this on a windows platform.  I deleted the duplicates in the enchantment folder, and in so doing the photos in the halloween folder were automatically deleted.  Numerous other Windows 7 directory problems ensued.  I restarted several times, and tried things with different sub folders and an additional new enchantment folder and received a number of system errors.
I checked pse 5 and found it already had the pse 5.02 update.
Sorry about the length of this post.
With software just about anything could be the culprit, but at this time, I would not recommend using pse 5 on the Windows 7 platform.

  • Can I use Adobe Photoshop Element 11 to manage my photos rather than iPhoto?

What are the problems, if any, with by passing iPhoto and using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11?

Are you referring to actually managing the image files with the Adobe Elements 11 organizer as well as editing the photos or just use PSE 11 to edit the photos?
The latter is easy.  The former would have you abandon iPhoto, move you photos out of it to folders and then manage the folders and their contents.
What exactly are you wantng to do:  manage and edit or just edit.
By the way the file management capability of PSE is far less capable than the photo managementcapability of iPhoto which is a DAM (digital asset management) application.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 as external editor

For years, I've used iPhoto. And although I usually edit in iPhoto, sometimes I edit in an external editor, Adobe Photoshop Elements. It's always been easy - rightclick, "edit in external editor", Photoshop Elements opens and the photo is loaded automatically.
Well, since I upgraded to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE12), when I choose to edit in an external editor, PSE12 opens but my photo doesn't load.
Not a huge deal, but it takes extra time and searching and is, honestly, a little annoying.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Other than the previous versions of Elements, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 installs the editor directly at the top-level of the Applications folder, so there are no longer any nested folders to select the editor application from.
But there is a weird glitch, when I try to use it as an external editor in iPhoto.
When I select a photo in iPhoto 9.5.1 and ctrl-click it and use the command "Edit in External Editor" from that panel, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 opens with an empty window, like you reported.
This does not work: Elements launches on an empty window.
But when I use the "Edit" button in the footer of the iPhoto window and double click it, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 will open with the photo in the Editor window.
    This does work:
So, for the time being, use the Edit button to launch your external editor, if you are also using iPhoto 9.5.1 with Mavericks 10.9.4.

  • Can I download tutorial images for Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 online?

Can I download tutorial images for Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 online?

I'm not sure which images your referring to, unless you mean the ones referenced in the pse 2 help under Photoshop Elements 2.0 Tutorials
(or some that may have been available thru the pse 2 updater)
In the folder that photoshop elements 2 installs into, there are some Samples and Tutorial folders with some of those files.
On a windows machine look in either
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2
    or
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2
Also, on the pse 2 install cd, there are some images in the Goodies>Stock Art folder

  • Uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 on Snow Leopard

How do I do a complete uninstall of Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.O on iMac and Snow Leopard 10.6.7? Can I do this via some feature within Mac OS?

    And, in general:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Adobe photoshop elements 12 crashes immediately after editor is launched

I have just purchased Adobe photoshop elements and Premier 12. After my first elements install, I was able to load the Organiser, but the editor crashes immediately after loading. I uninstalled, deleted all adobe folders and files, and re-installed, only to find the same problem again. The editor crashes regardless of whether I load it from the flash screen on launch or from within the organiser.

Can you go to this folder and try launching directly from the executable:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12
Make sure you choose the application. Right-click on PhotoshopElementsEditor and choose "Run As Administrator"

  • Getting an "Adobe Photoshop Elements" "Updating..." Window

Every now and then (always when I'm in a hurry) I get a Window that pops up in the organizer that has the title "Adobe Photoshop Elements" and a message "Updating..." and a progress bar. Most of the time it zips right through to 100% but sometimes (like right now) it takes a long time - like over an hour!!!
Anyone have an idea of what it's updating?
I've looked at the resource monitor and it looks like the file PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe has over a hundred files (photos) open and reading from them. Is it rebuilding thumbnails or something in the DB?
Also, not sure if it's related but I use the Media Center plugin to view slideshows. Is it somehow messing things up - maybe clearing the thumbnails?
I'm running Vista Home Premium. Intel Quad Core [email protected] 4GB ram and a Raid 5 disk array.

    Dave,
A number of people have reported this issue:

    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b67c1b

It appears to be related to watched folders. Try disabling all watched folders by unchecking File > Watch Folders > Watch Folders. If that doesnt work, you can try turning off the service Active File Monitor that implements watching see one of the threads above for how to do that.
Please post back if either of those works.
