512 MB GDDR2 memory
I/O Ports: HDMI, VGA, dual-link DVI

I would like to share some recent progress and new problems with PE8.
Firstly, I made a new short-cut for PE and run PE.EXE i/o PE 8.0. EXE. This saves the time on avoiding the Welcome menu. Thanks for the tip.
Secondly I turned off rendering....
Now....
Two nights ago I decided to import all my videos (total length is about 60mins) into the library. I noticed that after I tried to highlight all the clips and drag them into PE timeline, my PE seemed to have frozen.  I/O restarting the computer I let it be. I came back the folowing night, all my files were in the timeline ready for effects and transitions. I suppose it just takes PE some time to "process" the imported videos?
Anyways, I tried to playback some clips in the monitor and the video was jerky.  I ignored that fact and tried to add a dozen of random transitions here and there. It was very hard to fine tune the transitions because of the jerky playback.  OK, I then went to SHARE and export to PC. I exported to a file in HD preset: 1080i, 30fps, etc. I left my computer along again and returned the following morning. The export was successful; took approx 2.5hrs.
A new file was created on my desktop with extension .m2t.  No associated software was assigned to playback this new file so I went to "Open With" and chose Windows Media Player. I think I have a 9 or a 10 ver. It played well, the sound was good, video was sharp (no jerkiness), transitions sucked as they were not fine tuned due to the reasons explained above.  The .m2t file was measured at 4.7Gb. I brought a 8Gb CFlash card from my SLR and connected it to the PC via USB. When I tried to copy that .m2t file and paste it to my card, which had almost double the required space, I received a prompt saying the file was too large to copy.
I then tried to copy that file to my HDD sony camera, with 120Gb of available space - the same result. The error is - the file is too large to copy. What the heck? How can I test this file for a playback on my TV if I cannot copy it to any external storage device.
p.s. I am trying to find my most favorite transitions: "No Effect", "Cross Fade". I do not seem to find the two from the list.

    Thanks for the reply.
Anytime I am getting too far ahead, then let me know and we can work together on putting the essentials together for this troubleshooting.
From your screenshot, you have a Windows 7 apparently 64 bit computer, lots of RAM. That computer would be great for Premiere Elements 11 Windows.
But Premiere Elements 8 is only a 32 bit application running in the 32 bit compatibility mode of your 64 bit system. So all that RAM is excessive in a 32 bit system with its limitation of max supported installed RAM being 4 GB (of which 3 GB or less of that are available).
So, the freezing and such could be explained by limited resources depending how much you have in the project when the freezing occurs and what formats are involved - like AVCHD. The burner not being recognized by Premiere Elements is probably another matter.
Let us start here....another place where you could be getting hit on the resource side of things....
    1. Background Rendering and AutoAnalzyer features in version 8 are notorious for grabbing system resources. If you have them enabled, that could account for much of the program freezing. So, please make sure they are not selected.
    a. Background Rendering. In the Premiere Elements 8 workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/General, and make sure there is no check mark next to Background Rendering option.
    b. AutoAnalzyer. In the Premiere Elements workspace, click on the Organizer tab in the row below the selected Organize header in order to open the Elements Organizer. In the Elements Organizer workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalyzer Options and uncheck all the option under that.
To get back to the Premiere Elements workspace from the Elements Organizer workspace, in the Elements Organizer workspace go to File Menu/Exit.
For most of us, Premiere Elements 8 was unusable without the 8.0.1 Update. Did you install that? Have you ever worked successfully with your Premiere Elements 8 on the computer where it is now? And, was that with or without the 8.0.1 Update?
Let us stop here and see how we are doing.
Lots of other factors to get into including the burner recognition one.
Thanks for looking at the troubleshooting comments.

  • Premiere Pro CC - Jerky Playback when using the Playback Option (Mavericks)

I certainly jumped the gun and wished I hadn't, but Mavericks as sort of sunk part of my traditional editng approach. I know, should of waited to upgrade... alas.
In PPro CC, whenever I have the playback optioned turned on for another monitor, I get stuttery/jerky playback in the program monitor and the playback monitor. When I turn off the feature, I get smooth playback, but have sacrificed the playback monitor, which is quite essential. Has anyone run across this issue or recognize what could be throwing things off?
This was true in 7.0.1 and the latest update 7.1.0. -- I'm not sure its an Adobe issue, this may be fully on Apple... with high chances of that.
To try and fix I made sure power nap was turned off on my Adobe Apps and that my Mission control spaces weren't separate for each monitor...
    Thoughts?

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Video Playback Problem/Bug

I have been editing a video for the past few weeks, but recently, after I have been editing for a few minutes, all of a sudden my video won't play in the playback window. When I hit the play button (or the space bar) it does nothing - just sits there. All of the clips are rendered (with the green bar), but I cant see my changes because it doesn't play. I am even able to move the cursor along the timeline and it will show the video in the playback window, but it won't play back in real time. Like I said I have been using Premiere Pro CS6 for a while and havent had this problem until now. Also, when I drag a clip into the preview window, it doesn't play either (but I am able to move the cursor along the timeline). I have to shut down Premiere and open it up again, then it works for a few minutes again, and then the same problem occurs. Please help! The specs for my lap top are as follows: Macbook Pro Retina Display, 2.6 GHZ i7, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD

Do you ONLY have that single 500gig drive?
If yes, you are below specification... which requires a separate drive for video files
An EXAMPLE concerning trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the
orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do
Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct
the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with
your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another
very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more on partitions) with Windows (or Mac OS)
and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is
not slowed down by trying to do everything
Do not try to use a USB2 external drive for video editing, the USB2 file transfer speed
    is too slow
External eSata or USB3 are both fast enough for video editing... eSata is better -

  • Adobe Premiere  CS6 .mts Video Playback Problem

    Adobe Play Back Problem
I have around 2 hours of footage I need to get through for a class assignment. Unfortunately for some reason whenever I try playing back my footage, it plays for a random short amount of time then stops. Ive tried everything to fix it. The footage is in .mts format, but it doesn't make a difference because I tried .mov footage and it still didnt work. Ive even tried the adobe live chat and it still didn't work, they couldn't figure it out.

Finally, make sure you copy from camera to hard drive according to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1015001?tstart=0

  • Premiere CS5 - Project Monitor playback is jerky after resintall of operating system and CS5

PROBLEM: Premiere CS5 - Project Monitor playback is jerky
This had NOT been an issue prior to reinstalling the operating system and all software.  I have read numerous articles on the forums and have tried everything I can find...with no results.
STEPS TAKEN TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM:
I have scoured the articles here http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?loc=en_us&term=choppy%20video&cat=support&pr oduct=premierepro and others at Cretive Cow
I have installed all updates for CS5 Master Collection, immediately following a fresh install of the operating system and SC5 Master Collection.
I have ensured that sequence settings match resolution and frame rates of footage - the problem persists.
I have tested by importing both standard def AVI files created from tape and high def SONY MP4 files - the problem persists.
I have ensured the latest Video drivers are installed (clean installation selected, so that the Windows default would be removed) - the problem persists.
I have tried the 3D settings in NVIDIA control panel | Program Settings tab... selected Adobe Premiere Pro from the drop down menu | and chaged 'Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration from the value of 'Multiple Display performance' to the value of 'single display performance'; although, I ran two monitors before using this latest NVIDIA video driver and I didn't experience this jerky footage issue - the problem persisted after affecting that change; so, I switched it back.
Since I have 96 GB of RAM, I don't use a pagefile.  A zero MB page file is the same setting I had prior to rebuilding the C:  Regardless of whether I have a pagefile or not, the problem persists.
I have tried creating a fresh user profile, where the user profile is created on the C: drive by default; and, where I left it there on C: to test for the jerky playback in a new PrPR project  - the problem persists.
Regarding the C: (system drive) and why I reinstalled everything, it had become unstable and was locking up.  I ran DISK ERROR CHECKING with the FIX parameter and the system was still locking up on me.  Keep in mind that the System drive is a solid state drive.  Anyhow, I had no choice but to dive in and reinstall everything.  I wiped the system partition of the SSD using quick format and started installing the operating system.  Now, I've read the CLAIM that this cuases performance issues; but, the only place I see issues is in the video monitor playback in PrPr.  Everything else - Office applications...printing...browsing the Internet...works just fine, everything is responsive, whereas, I couldn't do ANYTHING with it before.

    I'VE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM!
    PREFACE:
OK, I am hoping that through this week-long Operating-System-and-Software-reinatalltion excerise of mine, I have revealed something that everyone -- whom have been cursing Adobe over -- can apply to their systems to resolve this jerky video problem within PremierePro CS5 (and quite possibly other versions, too).
If you've read my post above, you've seen all the steps I've taken to resolve the problem.  I've read many posts, some of which have mentioned  hardware upgrade / opitmization steps that one may take to enhance performance, and hopefully resolve the problem.  I've read where people have taken these steps and have still experienced the problem...and then they curse Adobe.  Fer-shame, fer-shame, fer-shame! (nod to Gomer Pyle).
In my case, I knew it wasn't an Adobe issue, as it had worked flawlessly before; and, it wouldn't require a hardware upgrade or reconfigureation, as my system is completely maxed out with two processors, a system drive and a hardware RAID5 array, a CUDA-suported nVIDIA 4800 FX card, and 96 GB of RAM.  bla bla bla, puke...whatever.  Bottom line is this:
It's not a software issue.  It's not and Adobe issue; and Gawd no!  It's NOT a PC vs. Mac issue!  HA HA.  The software had worked swimmingly well prior to the reinstallation / 'lobotomy' I perfomed on the system drive.
    SOLUTION FOR ME:
Download and install the updated drivers for the motherboard.  Mine is an Intel Workstation Board S5520SC.  Intel has an INTEL DRIVER UPDATE UTILITY which automatically scaned my Intel system and identified drivers which needed updating.  A very handy, time-saving tool!!!  Here's the URL: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu
The scan revealed two Intel drivers needing an update:
    Intel Chipset
    Wired Networking
    and one non-intel driver:
    Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-fi
I downloaded and installed these three drivers, rebooted, and tested PremierePro, and was extatic to find this resolved the problem.
If you have a motherboard from another manufacturer, then you may want to navigate over to their wibsite to locate chipset and other updated drivers for your motherboard.
    ROOT CAUSE:
While Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate was able to install certain default drivers during the Operating System installation (keeping in mind that this was done on an Intel Solid State Drive that I formatted using Quick Format) these default chipset drivers apparently weren't current and were ultimately the root cuase of the jerky video playback within PremierePro CS5.
    Peace

  • HELP! Jerky playback on Premiere Pro 6.0.2 CS6 and Retina MBP (16GB)

    Dear all!
Please help me to solve this problem!
It's going on Premiere Pro 6.0.2 CS6 and Retina MBP with 16GB RAM installed.
    CUDA Driver Version: 5.0.24
    MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012
Processor  2,7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.1 (12B19)
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.2. - 072)
While playing back inside PP a jerky playback occurs, every 1-2 seconds it rewinds to 2-3 frames back and continues to play forth...
No special console messages or something similar visible.
Have tried to clean the cache but it doesn't help. Also have tried to switch the mode between CUDA, OpenCL and SW - without any visible changes...
    Exhausted... Please HELP!!!!

avrbox, I had the same problem and went crazy because I didn't find a proper solution. I use Windows, though. Finally, I got to fix the problem. I use a i5 processor, which I overclocked with an asrock tool that came with the mainboard (to about 3350 MHZ where the system ran stable). When I turned overclocking off, Premiere played back the clips just fine. I overclocked then step by step until the playback went jerky again and kept that frequency. Maybe your processor is overclocked by stock or you did it manually?
    Hope this is your solution!

  • Why does Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 quit upon playback of a sequence?

I have a new iMac 27" 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 with 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, running 10.8.5. I have a project using AVCHD files running at 59.94 fps, 1920x1080. The media is on a OWC Mercury Elite- AL Pro Qx2; it is at least 3 years old and it is connected to the iMac via a LaCie eSATA hub (with the eSATA cord). Also I have the Mercury Playback Engine GPR Acceleration (CUDA) enabled.
I can edit in a project for a while fine but then the playback starts getting weird and hanging up. The cursor jumps in the timeline and the picture freezes on a frame. Sometimes, the playback monitor screen turns a solid green. Sometimes I will then receive an error message saying "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project." I usually have to force quit at this point. I try opening a new project and bringing in the sequences again. It will work for some time, and then the same problem again.
Is there a problem with Premiere Pro or do I need a faster, newer media drive?
    Thanks.

I keep every Adobe program up to date.
I've been working straight off my internal 1TB SSD.
Any ideas or information would be great.
    Thank you!
Are you running the following update? OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 Update
Is the SSD you are running your system on one you installed, or is it factory installed from Apple?
Are you testing with a brand new project file or one you updated from a previous version?
What happens to you precisely when this issue occurs? Are you working for 5-10 minutes, then the program freezes? Or do you get a warning dialog box?
Have you checked permissions for your Adobe folders (see my blog): Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
Have you tried trashing preferences (press Shift + Option while starting Premiere Pro)?

    Hi,
Thanks for posting that screenshot. It appears that you have opened your Sequence Settings for a DV-NTSC sequence and have made a circle around the "Edit Settings" button.
Since you chose to create a DV sequence, you cannot change those settings.
Do you have DV NTSC clips? If so, these are the correct settings.
If you do not have DV NTSC clips, do not be concerned. Just create the sequence.
Once you drag a non-DV clip into the DV sequence, it's OK.
You have the option of changing the Sequence Settings to match those of your clip in a new dialog box.
Click "Change Sequence Settings" in the dialog box.
    I hope that helps.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Now about those fades for the volume. How are you doing that?
    1. Right click the Timeline video audio and select Fade and then
see the Fade options (I had a video with audio file, so I saw the choices as shown in the screenshot)
    2. You can also create two volume keyframes at each end of the Timeline audio clip rubberband (orange line that goes horizontally across the middle of the audio clip). At the position of the Timeline Indicator, click the Add/Remove Keyframe icon, and then with the mouse cursor position the white dots (volume keyframes) to achieve the Fade In and Fade Out audio. In the screenshot below I have moved the Timeline Indicator so that you could better see the white dots (volume keyframes).
Please let us know if any of the above works for you with regard to the audio fades.
    Thank you.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC crush - no Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration (OPEN CL)

I was an happy customer of Adobe CC till few days ago.
It were a few weeks I did not update the software in CC due to a problem with connection.
Needed to use Premiere Pro CC. It always crushes my MacBook Pro retina 2012 (16 giga ram) during export of the video. The monitor became black and there was no way to restart.
The Macbook worked smoothly with all the other softwares. Deleted CC and reinstalled everything, which was quit painful. However, at the end of the day, Premiere Pro CC works but I cannot use Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (open CL) which I used all the times before with huge advantage (exporting a 1 minute video in good quality needed 2 minutes with GPU accelerator, 20 minutes without).
When I open old project of Premiere Pro cc I read this message "this project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration (OPEN CL), which is either not available or not certified on this system. Mercury Playback Engine software only will be used". There is no way to change the rendered from Project setting - Mercury Playback Engine software is the only option.
My question: is it a problem with Adobe Premiere Pro CC or with my graphic?

    Ask in the Premiere forum.

  • Why does Adobe Premiere CS6 slow playback after importing some audio?

    Adobe Premiere CS6.0 v6.0.2
    Mac Pro:
    1, 4 core - 3.2ghz CPU
    16gb ram (4 sticks of 4gb @ 1066 MHz)
1 Tb dive with OS/Apps on
    2Tb 7200 RPM media drive
    ATI Radeon HD 5770
    Sequence:
    30Fps
    1920x1080
    Media:
mostly .MFX files from a Canon XF100 however these clips commonly play nice with Premiere.
    Issue:
After importing some audio clips (.wav/.mp3, possibly other extensions) to the timeline on occasion the video playback will become choppy and the audio will slow down 3% creating any voices in the video to become deeper and slows down.  Choppy video playback as well.  The problem is very annoying but  it can be temporarily fixed with a computer restart but it will come back.
    Things to note:
Creating a rendered ID (Exporting the movie out to a .mov) the slowed choppy video does not appear in the final movie.
    Temp. Solution:
The only way I can fix this problem is by restarting the computer.  Simply restarting Adobe Premiere and closing any non-essential applications does not fix the problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much apperciated.

Try converting your MP3 to AIFF ,QT or something else Macs like. See if that helps.

  • No playback in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6

    Hello,
I am learning from a training book for Adobe Premiere CS6 using a trial version, and there is always a problem with playback where the clips don't play when I press space bar or the j,k, and L keys. I am using the minimum requirements on my MacBook Pro 10.6.8 and I understand it's not good to edit from USB which I am doing. However, is there any way to fix this playback issue? Sometimes it plays when I change the audio hardware settings.
    Thanks,
    Victor Vazquez
