Adobe PSE 9 on Windows 7 64 Bit

Can Adobe PSE 9 be installed and operated from a computer with Windows 7 64 Bit OS?   I tried to install the program and encountered a number of errors on the computer.  I am trying to determine if this is a conflict with the software, or a sign of a seperate issue with the computer,
Thanks!

The system requirements for PSE 9  are :
1.6 GHz or faster processor
Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 or 3, Windows Vista®, or Windows 7
1 GB of RAM (2 GB for HD video functions)
3 GB of available hard-disk space (additional free space required during installation)
Color monitor with 16-bit color video card
1024 x 576 display resolution at 96 dpi or less
Microsoft DirectX 9 compatible display driver
DVD-ROM drive
QuickTime 7 software (required if importing QuickTime formats)
Internet connection required for Internet-based services
Try running it 32 bit mode on Windows 7.
What errors do you get while installing?

Hello, is there any info available "to convince" Photoshop Elements to recognize a installed Outlook 2010 and to work with Outlook 2010 in a WIN 7 64 Bit system?
In my Photoshop elements 7 and 9 versions it is not possible withinPSE 9 or PSE 7 under  windows 7 64 Bit  to select  Outlook as a valid parameter under the otion settings within Elements to handle emails functions within PSE properly.....

Yep. I agree with the above comments. Other users have reported issues while working with outlook 64 bit. Here is one such discussion http://forums.adobe.com/message/3289324 .

  • Installing PSE 10 on Windows 7 64 bit

    OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Doing a clean install of PSE 10
    This file:
    www.adobe.com/go/learn_installpse10_en
indicates that disc #2 of the retail package contains:
Windows 7 (64 bit) PRE trial
In spite of no such markings on the disc.
    Question #1:
What is a PRE Trial?  I don't really want to install trial, or beta versions from a retail package. Is there a gold release version of PSE10 64 bit?
    Question #2:
Is there is a download gold version of PSE 10 64bit? And, if so where is it?
    Question #3:
If I were to start the install with disc 1 is it smart enough to know it is on a 64 bit OS and direct me to disc 2, or will it just go ahead and install the 32 bit version on disc 1?  And, if it is not smart enough to install the correct version, why not?
    Question #4:
Bottom line: I'm just not clear on PSE 10 64 bit.  Does it exist, and how does one install it?  I have stumbled on several different answers on this forum.  But nothing clear cut from Adobe staff.
    Thanks,

  • Trouble Importing Files PSE 7 to Windows 7 (32 bit)

I am attempting to install PSE 7 into a computer running Windows 7, 32 bit.
The installation was a success to the extent that I was able to connect a catalog containing a huge amount of photos, (180,000 +) to the organizer, and after several hours of "generating thumbnails" the installation seemed to have stabilized.
However, when I try to import new photos, the "get photos from files and folders" operation takes ridiculous amounts of time, and is sort of "hit or miss" in that it sometimes it hangs altogether and I have to use "task manager" to shut down PSE.
Other than this, the program seems to be working normally (!) or maybe (?)
I have tried various compatibility modes, (XP SP2, Vista, Vista SP 1 & 2) with very little difference in results. Well, maybe Vista SP 2 was a tiny bit better.
The computer this is installed in is a Pentium C2D 2.8Ghz (E6300) w/ 2 GB of DDR2 800Mhz RAM. So, it's got plenty of "juice" to deal with PSE's requirements.
My photo files are stored in folders & sub-folders on a separate internal HDD (750GB WD).
Both PSE 5 and 7 work on 3 other computers containing the identical catalogs and photos, in basically the same configuration, including separate storage drives for each. These machines are running Windows XP SPs 2 or 3 (I use multiple computers as a back up strategy, copying the entire existing HDD to another, then install the drive into another machine, import the catalog file into PSE, and change the HDD letter to match that of the existing catalog). Done this way, the PSE installation is identical to that in the previous machine, and is up and running rapidly.
launching such  a large catalog takes a bit of time to initialize, or search (understandably), but on these other machines there is no trouble importing, locating, or managing files.
I should add that on the Windows 7 machine, Windows Explorer works quite well in accessing all of the photo files, so this sort of rules out a problematic Hard drive.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Ellis, PSE 7 is simply not permitting me to drag folders from Windows Explorer into the organizer. It just blows up the dreaded "black circle with diagonal slash", and that's the end of the issue, at least as far as PSE 7 is concerned.
Since I've had to terminate this program abnormally several times, it resets the preferences upon restart. The other day it hung when I was trying to set preferences, so as you might expect, I'm very cautious about making changes. I don't know if changing any preferences would enable drag and drop, I'm just trying to illuminate the eggshells I'm walking in trying to stabilize the program.
In answer to your question, about the "documents and settings folder", no, I'm not using in any of my photo file paths. I realize I may have confused the issue with that statement, it was out of context. But my purpose in doing so was to obviate the differences in file paths that PSE is expecting, and the file paths that I'm using. Perhaps that was a bad example.
I almost never use either the "My Documents" or the My Pictures" folders in Windows, nor do I allow PSE to use them. Storing data of any kind on the OS drive (C:/) is not in my repertoire of "stupid things I like to do, even if they're destined to end badly".
All of my computers have a minimum of 2 physical HDDs, not partitions. All video, music, photos, program installer files, etc. are stored on a discreet, separate, HDDs, (identified in "My Computer" as, (IE) " G: Volume")). The "C:/" drives are exclusively for Windows and installed programs.
That said, a typical file path to a group of photos in my computer would be, "My Computer" > "G:/ Volume" > "My Digital Photos" > "Airshows" > "McGuire AFB 2007" (In case you're wondering, I'm way too lazy to go through that each time, so I add desktop shortcuts to the extra HDDs and even the largest folders).
As you are well aware, that is completely different from the file path that PSE would choose by default. A file path for which I have a great deal of disdain. But, that is another complicated and contentious issue, which doesn't have a clear winner thus far.
Anyhoo, I think that PSE would "appear" more compatible (and probably is )with Windows 7 if it were allowed to follow it's own choices as to where to store the photo files. One supposes the folders that Windows 7 "creates" for earlier programs further aids (supposed) compatibility.
As I mentioned in one of my other somewhat long winded posts, I now have a viable option for importing photos, "find photos by searching", the manual drill down modus operandi. Works great!
I'm not expecting this installation of PSE to do any, "heavy lifting" with respect to editing, or a resting place for un-backed up photos . It's in a new machine I just built for the primary purpose of, extra backup,  recording TV, and perhaps installing a Bluray drive. The motherboard has HDMI output, so it plugs into the TV directly, and the PSE slideshow function works perfectly.  With a 40" TV, it's even better than a slide projector for boring relatives with vacation photos!
So, although this thread is still marked as "unanswered", I do have a workaround solution. There should be a check box indicating, "it won't ever be answered until Adobe issues a patch"! (Like that's going to happen).
Again Mr. Ellis, thank you very much for your interest in this issue. I might add that I have read your page on problems with PSE and it's obvious that you have applied a great deal of thought, effort, experience, and industry toward helping people deal with PSE more effectively.
As an afterthought I have several copies of PSE laying around, 2,3,5, & 7, (some in multiples) and I've never had a serious problem with any of them. So I'm actually astounded when I see the litany of issues that apparently manifest themselves. This is my first actual issue, and Windows 7 is pretty upfront about PSE 7 being an incompatible application.

  • Cannot uninstall Adobe Acrobat 8 on Window 7 64-bit

I've been running the CS3 suite on windows 7 64-bit for years with no problems. Suddenly, most CS3 applications won't open, and if they do, they lock up. So, I figure no problem, I'll uninstall and then re-install. Wronk!
    (1) I could not deactivate the license
    (2) Acrobat will not uninstall
    (3) I tried to uninstall with no success
    (4) I'm basically stuck with and old suite of expensive applications that do not work
    (5) Adobe's support is worthless and/or nonexistent
    (6) Did I mention that Adobe support sucks!!!
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Tim

    Hi Timothy,
We regret for the inconvenience caused to you!!
As i understand you are facing issues with uninstalling Acrobat... I would recommend you to run Acrobat Cleaner tool on your system and let me know if that helps.
Moreover what exactly did you meant by "suddenly, most CS3 applications won't open, and if they do, they lock up" ??

Hi, You need to be sure to use the 32bit browser in Install Flash Player, as it is not supported yet for the 64bit. You can install FP in a 64bit operating system as you have, but use the 32bit browser which is the default.
Also are you trying to Install Flash Player vs 10.0.45.2 and if so did you run the Adobe Uninstaller first?

I have Adobe PSE 8 on our laptop with Windows 7 but we got a new laptop with Windows 8 and my software won't load on the new laptop.  I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong or if it isn't compatible.  I don't mind upgrading to Adobe PSE 13 but am concerned I will have trouble with all my existing PSE files.  Please advise.

    Hi,
I can't be certain, but I can't see any reason why PSE 8 shouldn't be compatible with Windows 8.1.
Do you get any error message when trying to install PSE 8?
If you were to upgrade to PSE 13, there should not be any problem with your existing files. It would be best to use the organizer's Backup Catalog to hard drive on the old computer and then the restore catalog on the new computer. That way both the catalog information and the photos will be transferred across.
I suggest that you make sure that there are no missing files in your current system.

  • Is Adobe CS3 compatible with windows 7 / 64 bit?

I need a new pc for working with CS3 - does it work with uptodate technology such as windows 7 / 64 bit?
What are ideal system requirements for CS3?

Nobody can tell you if it will actually work on your PC. Officially it's not tested on Win 7 and not compatible and while users have gotten working setups, nobody can give you any guarantees. Even if it installs and all the apps work, certain specific features may not. Ideal setup? Given the previous point, that would be a Win XP computer from 8 years ago... Sorry, but you're asking the impossible. Simply try, employing all the tricks like compatibility modes and so on where appropriate and then come back when you actualyl have problems.

  • Compatibility of Adobe Reader XI with Windows 8, 64 bit version appears to be a problem. Ideas?

Whenever, I load Adobe XI (which seems to be the only version compatible with Windows 8, I get a "No default mail client" error. has anyone found a solution? Is Adobe working on a fix?
(I use a Dell Lattitude E6530 notebook with Windows 8 and Microsoft Office 2013 64 bit version installed).
    Your replies appreciated.
    Arthur

You can get previous versions of reader from: http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/
Regarding your problem, you need to send some more information like the machine RAM usage and CPU usage when Reader 11 freezes. A screenshot would help.
Does other applications work correctly on your machine?

  • Adobe Acroat 8 Pro & Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have gotten a new computer that is running Win7 64-bit. I have a copy of Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro that I'm trying to get to work on the new system. During the install process, it brought up an error asking for the Windows Vista adobepdf.dll file. Since I also have a computer that is running Vista, I was able to locate the file needed to finish the install. However, when I try to PDF a website for example, it shows an error in the task manager (down by the clock). When I check the properties of the Adobe PDF printer, it shows the port as being "LPT1".
I have contacted Adobe via the online chat, but was directed to the website www.adobe.com/support. There, I wasn't able to find anything.
I guess the first question to ask is ... Is Windows 7 64bit & Adobe 8 Pro compatible? If so, what am I doing wrong? If not, that answers the whole issue right there. When I asked the Adobe chat rep, all they said about the compatibility, is that it wasn't tested on Win7, so they don't know.
I've tried to do the install a couple of times/ways. The first time I did the install, I clicked on cancel when it asked for the Vista AdobePDF.dll file. I got the same results as I did when I found the file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

After searching around on other forums and help sites, I found the answer @ http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/acrobat-8-or-9 -with-windows-7-64bit-printing/99f812d3-d025-44f4-bba2-5a483ce1e730. The part I did was downloaded the update to 8.1, and it worked perfectly after that.

  • Plug-in adobe flash player for windows 7 64 bit ???? i have install the flah player many times but no succes ????

i have windows 7 home 64 bits and the adobe flash player cannot be install in mozilla firefox ??????
    i have install many times

    Try to install it manually.
To begin with download these two files:
    * [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstall_flash_player.exe]
    * [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe install_flash_player.exe]
These are direct download links so you won't see a page, merely the files which you see in the screenshot.
Close Firefox and then run the uninstaller even if you think you don't have it installed.
Next, reboot to remove the Registry entries.
When the system reboots to the desktop, run the installer. ''Do not open Firefox first though''.
Finally, go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to test the installation.

  • Adobe Reader X and Windows 7 64-bit

Any idea when Adobe Reader X will be able to show thumbnails in Windows 7 64-bit

No one who knows can speak, those that do not know cannot say anything of value. Adobe doesn't usually pre-announce new features. Knowing that Adobe Acrobat and Reader are old products past their prime, you may have to wait for the next version or until Adobe produces a 64-bit version of Reader.
