Adobe Reader 11.0.07 crashes and destroys the pdf form. Win 7/64

I use several forms from the Canadian immigration department. These forms require VALIDATION after filling.
Validation generates a set of machine readable codes that are included with an application.
Lately, Reader will crash in the middle of filling in the form.
The form also gets destroyed in that an error message talking about XFA comes up.
When I load the damaged form, fields are no longer accessible and some fields have been corrupted meaning the previously filled data has changed to garbage data.....most fields are intact.
Later today, I will redo the current form and cut the error message to post here.
I will also post a link to a clean copy of the form....but I don't see an option to attach a pdf file!!!!
Once the error / crash happens, I can no longer fill in any field on the form and the form cannot be validated....requiring a total redo that MAYBE works!!!
When I try to load the "damaged" form, I get the red message saying that Java is not selected BUT it is!!!!!
See
Also how to attach a clean pdf file?
For now I will insert a link to the file named "IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf"
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf
Any suggestions please?

The message tells you that form's Reader Extended capability is no longer available.  So when it crashed the digital signature which allows the PDF file to have the "special" capabilities must have been damage.  This means that that the "JavaScript" ( NOT JAVA.  JAVA is  a separate programming language.) capabilities that the form had before will no longer function.  It's not unusual for an application crash to damage a document no matter what the application is.
You need to do a couple of things.  One, report the behavior to the government entity whose forms you are using of the issue, and two,  file a bug with Adobe via their bug reporting form.

  • Adobe Reader for Android to work with dynamic XML PDF forms?

Any possibility that Reader for Android will ever work with dynamic XML PDF forms created by Abobe Acrobat Pro?

GoodReader ($4.99), ezPDF Reader ($2.99) and PDF Expert ($9.99) are well rated and support many more features.

  • Save and Close the PDF form

I've created PDF Form (Acrobat XI standard) with various field and button for sending the link of document location by outlook mail. I need the adobe java script for save the document in same location and close the document while i use the button for sending the link.

You can only save the file to a specific location if you can install a script on the local machine where the file is used.
Otherwise the best you can do is cause the Save As dialog to open, but you can't force the file to be saved.

  • How to generate and display the pdf form as a web dynpro abap view

    Hi,
I filled the value in the table and displayed in the view,In that view i have one button"TOPDF".
My requirement is,if i click that button,i want to display the table in the PDF output.
For the above requirement,i created another view with interactive form,In that view i created one "pdf" Node and  "soure" as a attribute of Type-xstring.Then i binded the soure attribute withe "pdfdatasoure" of my interactive form  view.
Now my doubt is how and where can i pass the table values to pdf output.
can any body cleare my doubt with some sample code.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Ravi.

    Hello Ravi,
Best would be to bind the dataSource of the InteractiveForm ui element to the parent node containing the table's data. Then specify a name of a template to be created in the templateSource and hit <enter>. Some popups later, the system will have created a template from the structure of the context. All you need to do now is to drag&drop the data structure inside the template designer to the template itself. This will result in a table. Save, activate and return the Web Dynpro view. Don't forget to unbind the pdfSource and enjoy.
    Best regards,

This regards Adobe Reader XI 11.0.07 and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.07 running on Win 7. Copying text in a text callout (to paste into a text callout in another pdf document (3 instances of Adobe open) sometimes (only sometimes) causes the program to crash, losing unsaved work. This usually occurs if you use a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Crash on Launch Mac OS 10.4.11

I'm experiencing a problem where Adobe Reader fails to launch on my system (MacBook Pro Core2Duo). I have searched the forums for advice, trashed everything I could find with the Adobe moniker, downloaded and reinstalled Adobe Reader 8.1.2, both replaced and disabled the "update" plug-in, and still no joy. Are there any known incompatibilities that I might be missing? After over an hour of searching I have yet to find a resolution.

I am having a very similar problem, with a few wrinkles.
Adobe Reader 8.1.2 works fine under the root user, and also under another non-admin user.
Other users the same problem, Adobe Reader crashes after launch.
I made a new user account with admin privileges, Reader crashes almost immediately after launch. I changed the account to a non-admin user, and it still crashed.
    I have repaired permissions.
    Very strange problem.

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.10 crashes on OSX 10.9.5.  Crashes about once every three times when opening a file, searching an open file... started 11 months ago, reinstalling doesn't fix problem.

For about 11 months Adobe Reader performance has gotten worse and worse.  It crashes about every third time I try to open a file, and frequently when I search for text strings using the find function.  I have re-installed the program, I have the latest installation according to Adobe.

I've saved two files on my desktop:
    f1040.pdf - downloaded from www.irs.gov - 187 KB
    afmod07.2.1g.pdf - downloaded from my intranet - 1,04MB
I've powered off my PC and restarted for each file. I've opened files with double-click on them. I've encountered the same problem, when double-clicked on files in task manager two Acrord32.exe appeared, the PC was doing anything for about 10 second, after that I've encountered no activity in task manager (numbers not vary) for other 10 seconds (like freeze) and after that other about 10 seconds of loading. So after about 30 seconds the file opens with stand-alone Acrobat Reader (11.0.10).
If I retry now (after the first slow startup "of the day") the file opens in 2-3 seconds.
    So:
    - first open of the day or rebooting PC: 30-45 seconds
    - second open of the file: 2-3 seconds
This is happening only with PDFs with forms.

  • Adobe Reader X/10 - continued crash problems trying to save PDFs

    Dear all,
I wonder if anyone can help me.... I have been having ongoing problems when trying to save PDF documents online while using the downloaded Adobe Reader 10 or X version. It always crashes/freezers when I press the 'save' button in the 'save as' dialogue box. I have to use end program and start all over again.
I use Windows XP (Professional, Service Pack 3) and both Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1 and IE 8 web browsers. I have followed the links suggested to prevent in future after the problem has been reported - I have unstalled and reinstalled Reader a few times now, as well as checked that I have been using the most up to date version of Reader 10 or X. Then reopened everything again thinking it's solved and then crash (ARGH!). Has anyone else had similar issues?
This is most frustrating to say the least, not withstanding the time delays affecting work outputs when the system crashes on the 'save as' dialogue box (after pressing save). I have lost faith in Adobe now ... I used to consider the free download of Reader a great asset, now it is a true annoyance and may or may not work entirely.
Any help or advice would be great, even alternative PDF software.
    Many thanks in advance
    Ruth

The response from 370H55V is correct in theory and in actual fact was very close to the solution, but the response was more cryptic than helpful. I first encountered this yesterday after upgrading users on a Terminal Server from Reader v8 to v9. My first instinct was to upgrade to v10, which I did, but the problem still existed, so I rolled back to v8 and the issue was resolved. Unfortunately however this was not a solution and it was a requirement that we upgraded to at least v9. The error was as described that in IE 8 when a PDF file was opened inside the browser(or embedded as some might say), and you press SAVE (or even sometimes print) within the adobe reader toolbar, IE would flicker and crash on the page and then recover the page, saying this page has been recovered, but no saving would happen. This would happen if protection was turned off in Adobe Reader, and if it was on (default), then pressing SAVE would just make IE freeze as previously reported.
So to understand what was happening, I ran FILEMON and REGMON by SYSINTERNALS. Regmon showed nothing of significance. Filemon showed a lot more. It was getting an access denied error on c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll. There was no reason for this however because the permissions on this file allow all users to read and execute. But then I remembered what shell32.dll does. It brings up the SAVE AS dialog box that allows you select the path of where to save the file – essentially this is calling the shell of explorer.exe.
So this is actually the cause of the crash. When Adobe Reader makes the call to the SAVE AS dialog box – CRASH!!!!! Why???
Well it’s quite simple. The default location that the SAVE AS dialog box starts in is MY Documents and this is where to start looking for the source of the error. To find out were “my documents” is for your session, open REGEDIT and go to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
Look for the key: PERSONAL and in it is a REG_SZ containing the path to “my documents” for the current user. This is generally something like C:\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents on Windows XP/2003 and something like C:\Users\<username>\Documents on Win7/ 2008.
Now in our case the setting for this key was U:\ which was a mapped network drive to the path: \\server\username\mydocs. U:\ did exist and the user had full permission to it. So I changed the path on the personal key to C:\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents – the default setting. I went back to IE, opened a PDF document from a website, viewed the file and then pressed SAVE on the adobe toolbar. BINGO BABY!!!! Worked perfectly.
But again this was not a solution because in a network, you need your users to have their “my documents” in their own home drive, which is generally located on a remote share on a server. So I put the PERSONAL setting in the registry back to U:\ and crash back to square one. I then put the path of the U:\ in the key instead of just U: drive, so PERSONAL now had a REG_SZ value of \\server\username\mydocs. Went out to IE again, launched a PDF, pressed SAVE. BINGO BABY!! It worked. So clearly this was a UNC Path resolution issue or something similar, but why did it only happen from v9 of Adobe Reader and whose fault is it – Microsoft or Adobe. Well I suspect both. I suspect that Adobe maybe making a weak Shell call in their code which doesn’t resolve the path properly, and a possible bug in the MS Shell call may be adding to this issue.
Anyway, I did some further testing for some fun. I took permissions away from the user to their “My documents” folder and was also able to replicate the same crash. I set the PERSONAL registry key to a folder that didn’t exist and same crash. So basically if the SAVE AS shell call can’t resolve or access the path as set in the PERSONAL key the you will get this crash.
The way I solved it for the network users, was to set the registry key for PERSONAL to \\server\username\mydocs via Group Policy, also a logon script may also work. Additionally you could use Folder Redirection in Group Policy to set the path for MY Documents on a per user basis. This also was tested and work.
For non-network users check the PERSONAL key and get the path and then find that path and check permissions etc. Replace it with the default location or even point it to a path that you know exists and has full access.
As a final tip, also look at the registry Key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
And find the PERSONAL path. It will be something like %USERPROFILE%\my documents in XP/2003 and %USERPROFILE%\Documents in Win7/2008. This is the default location and if the PERSONAL KEY does not exist in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders then windows reverts back to the User Shell Folders key to get the path. It is a good idea to check that path in this area as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.03 crashes every time I open a PDF.  I see the grey box saying Reading Untagged Do

Adobe Reader 11.0.03 crashes every time I open a PDF.  I see the grey box saying Reading Untagged Document then it crashes with the message that Acrobat is not responding.  I have Windows 7 Professional.  I have tried uninstalling and re-installing several times.  What should I do?

    Hi,
Could you please let us know if you are using any 3rd party plugin for Adobe Reader? If so, can you please temporarily remove the same and see if you are facing the same issue.
If you are not sure about the same, please do the following:
    1. Navigate to the Reader installation folder. Usually its C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 11.0
    2. Ensure that Adobe Reader is not running and delete the entire "Reader" folder
    3. Initiate a Repair transaction for Adobe Reader from the Control Panel > Programs and Features.
Also, it would be great if you could let us know if the issue is PDF specific or does the issue happen with all documents. Do you observe the same issue with the below mentioned PDF as well:

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.10 - crashing after inserting multiple comments

I have not used comments much before in Adobe Reader. I have been using them heavily the past 2 days in a detailed review. I have been saving after every few comments, as Reader has closed unexpectedly many times. The PDF files are on a network share where I have full access. Also it will not save my default font settings for inserting a text comment, or my "favorite" stamps, or basically any settings that I customize. This is very frustrating as I need to change those every time after it crashes. And sometimes it will crash after a save with the same results.
    We're on Win7 SP1 32-bit, if that matters.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I did not find any similar posts about comments in Reader.
    Thanks,

when installing adobe reader on my mac it states that the install is complete, but on same screen its sets thaw an internal server error has occurred and reader will not work

    Hi,
I have exactly the same problem on one of my Macs (MBP 15 Mid-2010 / OS X Yosemite): Both reader and Acrobat Pro download without a hitch. Both also install with no problem.
But once you click the program to open, they both return "an internal error occurred".
I tried downloading three separate copies, and still get the same error message when I install and launch.  I've also uninstalled the previous installations via CleanMyMac2 to make sure it's no longer in the SSD.  Same results.
Am using a new SSD as internal boot drive, with fresh / clean installation of OS X and Apps (previous internal HDD crashed) -- And am seeing errors not only with Acrobat, but also with LR5 which always comes up with a "An error occurred when attempting to change modules" -- inspite or uninstall, download and reinstall.  Not sure if it's a registry issue? (Not even sure if that's the case with OS X).
Do I need to reformat the whole SSD? I hope not!
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader 11.2.1 Crashing!

Hi, We have been using Adobe Reader for a few months now and I have updated to the new 11.2.1 update Adobe Reader release for Android. The program is crashing as you fill about the form.  The PDF form I'm using is around 12 mb and it's a 15 page form filling document.
It will crash multiple times throughout filling out the form. The Android software version is 4.1.2.
The previous version 11.1.3 was much more stable. Please help.

It sounds like your problem is similar to the one reported by the other forum user jsl001.
    Adobe Reader 11.2.1 still crashing
We would like to get as much information as possible to reproduce the problem on our end.
Do you use an on-screen (software) keyboard or Bluetooth keyboard?
When exactly does the crash occur?  When you
    Tap a text field
    Start typing letters
Tap the Enter/Return key to commit the entered value
Do you enter text in English or any other language?
Would you send your PDF form and possibly a short close-up video demonstrating the problem to [email protected] as email attachments?  Please add the link to this forum post for reference.
Several users have reported the same/similar crash problem with Adobe Reader for Android 11.2.1 on Android 4.1 -  4.3.  With your help, we would like to fix the problem as soon as possible.
    Thank you!
