Adobe Reader 11.0.09 - some certificates no longer accepted for signing PDF forms

After installation of the patch 11.0.09 of Adobe Reader some certificates are no longer accepted for signing (not enlisted in list of certificates) when clicking the sign fields of PDF forms. The forms were created using LiveCycle Designer.
Is it by design or is it a bug? If it is by design, what is the change, which caused this behavior? We are facing the problem, when our users are no more able to sign the request forms using their client certificates.
The example is on the following screenshots.

  • Certificates no longer work for signing when moving to Acrobat XI

    Hello,
At my organization we have vendor-supplied certificates (x.509 v3) that we use to sign PDFs.  These certificates function correctly with Acrobat 7, 9, and X (mix of XP and Win7).  When attempting to sign a PDF in Acrobat XI (Win7), an error is reported by the Windows CSP: "The requested operation is not supported.  Error Code: 2148073513".
I also have some certificates generated in-house that do not result in this error, and sign correctly with Acrobat 7, 9, X, and XI.
My guess is that some property of the vendor-supplied certificates is not playing well, and that it must be some difference between the two.  The vendor certs have about 10 extensions, mine has 2.  I've pasted a dump of the additional extensions below; all other details appear to be shared.  Key size is 2048 for the vendor, 1024 for in-house.
    Thank you!
    Certificate Extensions: 10

The issue is that Adobe cannot access the path of the CRL since they don't support LDAP path. To resolve the issue you need to uncheck the option to embedded the CRL status in the signature information. To change it go to Edit > Preferences >Security > Advanced Preferences > Creation tab > de-select Include signature's revocation status when signing
I've add screenshots from Adobe X & XI:
    Edit > Preferences >Signatures > Creation & Appearance > More > de-select Include signature's revocation status when signing

  • Adobe Reader X Install Leaves Some Reader 9.0 Files Installed

I just installed Reader X on a Win7 machine, and find that the Reader X install left
some Reader 9.0 files still lurking about in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 9.0\
folder (273 files in 9 folders for about 49.7 MB according to Properties).
Is it OK to just delete all this cruft, or might Reader X actually access/use some of
    these files?
    Thanks,
    /kim

Can you download Adobe Reader X from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.0.0/en_US/AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi
Once you have downloaded the installer, run the following command on the command prompt:
    msiexec /i <path to AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi> /l*v "C:\ReaderX.log" /qb
For example if your msi file is in C:\Test then type: msiexec /i "C:\Test\AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi" /l*v "C:\ReaderX.log" /qb
If the installer fails then please post the file "C:\ReaderX.log" here.
Also ensure that your shdocvw.dll is located at "C:\Windows\System32" folder.

If the PDF is a form fillable PDF, which I assume that it is, email it to yourself or send it to DropBox and open it on your computer. You should see the fields filled in there. It works for me if I do it that way.
Adobe Reader supports it, but the other apps don't. I assume that if you email the PDF to a computer user it would be readable in Adode Reader.

  • Adobe Reader 9 not opening some PDF's

I think I'm having issues with Reader 9.  I create reports in MS Access and OutputTo PDF.  One of the reports
is fairly complex and actually prints out sideways.  When I email these reports to customers, some can open them, some cannot.
If a customer can't open the report from the email, first step is to Save As and save the report to their desktop and open it from there.  Works for some of the clients.  Some can't even open it then.  It appears that the newer version of Adobe reader might be the culprit, but not totally sure yet.  (i.e. users of Adobe Reader 8 don't seem to have this issue.)
Has anyone else run into this issue or have any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I was all excited, thinking version 9.3 might be the answer.  (9.1 and 9.2 were the ones that weren't working)  However, after testing on a different computer, I can say that this is not the case.  I think the key difference between what I uploaded here (which you could open) and the problem customers is having is opening an email attachment.  I can save the file from the email to the desktop and open it fine.  However, when trying to open the attachment directly from the email, it locks up Adobe.

  • Adobe Reader 10.1 with some problems

    To Technical support,
    Dear sirs,
I have some problems with Adobe Reader version 10.1.
Once installed Adobe Reader, version 10.0, I found the problems listed below:
When I open Adobe Reader 10.1, and check the "Task Manager" (Ctrl + Alt + Del), the process appears Adobe Open twice, taking increasing a lot of memory space.
When attempting to view the following pages, Adobe Reader closes or crashes by itself, and can not continue.
I have already installed it in other computers but the problem remains.
What can be done to not happen anymore?
    Working with Technical Documentation
PS. I'm using this version because of the tools to highlight text and make notes.
    thanks

  • Saved an email yesterday in Adobe Reader, now where is it and how do I open that PDF?

saved an PDF email in Adobe Reader, now where is it and do I open it? It has job application that need to orient out?

x11 needs to be installed from the OS X install cd that shipped with your mbp (its burried in one of the folders, don't remember which off hand - sorry).
as for removing developer tools... personally, i wouldn't. if you ever plan on installing stuff from source via fink or darwinports or want to install apache/php for some reason, you'll need the developer tools. they do come in very hand, but if you are so incline to remove them, open up a terminal window (/Applications/Utilities) and issue the command
    sudo /Developer/Tools/uninstall-devtools.pl
that should prompt you for your password. Just walk through it and it'll clear them out.
If you really want to use open office on os x, i'd highly suggest neooffice

  • Can't get adobe reader out of system - it always blocks opening items other than PDF files.

I can't get rid of Adobe reader.  Want to get back to making Preview my browser default source.  Can't get this solution to work.
Either "File"- "Get Info" in the menu bar or press Cmd-I. This will give you a pop up screen where you have an section called "Open with".  Go there, select Preview as the application to open the document with, press the "Change All" button and confirm.

Remove Adobe plug ins, if any.
