Adobe Reader 8.2.4 - HELP - Grows to 944MB when opening simple PDF (Fine in 7,9 and X)
Hi,
In our organization, we have started receiving PDF's which break Adobe 8.
They are about 800k.
First, it hangs, the executable grows to around 944MB, and then the PDF appears.
After this scrolling through the PDF hangs. Especially when you hit the pages with images.
The PDF contains about 10 or 11 images.
Its not possible to upgrade right now due to Corporate Policy.
WinXP using 8.2.4, tried to disable all plugins, disable all image related preferences - no help - it must be base functionality that just does not like this PDF.
Opens fine and scrolls fine in 7,9 and X.
Any ideas? Its a major problem....

when opening a pdf link on a web poage the process stalls and there is a message that Adobe acrobat reader is running. To the best of my knowledge I do not have the Acrobat reader. To the best of my knowledge I have deleted the reader program. I have an older version of Acrobat Pro. The problem occurred before I did the deletion and continues since then.

Adobe Reader XI won't launch, can't download or open existing PDF files.
Running Windows 7 and have had no trouble with PDF files until few weeks ago. Now Adobe Reader Xi won't execute and I can't download or open existing PDF files using Adobe. Interesting that I can open existing PDF files unsit PaintShop Pro X4 but not in Adobe. Have unistalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader XI several times with no change in problem.
You can try using Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement

Unable to install Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Help!!!
Help Please I had Adobe Reader 8 on my Laptop Os WinsXP but it was corrupt so I unstalled it and I`m trying ( Approx 8 tries ) to install Adobe Reader 8.1.2 but all I get when it`s trying to Install is a dialog box that pops up saying
Internal Error 2753. Updater api_NON_OPT and then says Adobe Reader 8.1.2 setup Failed.
Any suggestions?

AlexI can help if you gor error 1402 about not having permission to update reg sub-key MSFS under:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/OptionalComponents
Logged into my own account, I could see no sub-keys under Run even though I have Administrator rights. I logged in under the Administrator Account (the one under which Adobe was originally installed). Now I could see all sub-keys.
I installed Adobe Reader 8.1.2 successfully.
I rebooted and logged back in under my own account and can now see all sub-keys.
I suspect 2 things. Either my registry was corrupt and I lost the sub-keys (dont think so) or an update from say Adobe Reader 8.1.1 to 8.1.2 can initially only be done under the account that did the original install (I hope this is not the case). Good luck. -

I would suggest you to uninstall Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool and then re-install the latest version.

While most can open my .pdf attachments to emails, I have one client who cannot. However, they can open and read if sent from another person in my office who using the same Program as I do. I am using Adobe Reader X1. Can anyone help?
What is the operating system on that problem machine? Reader XI version? Email client?

IE 11 and Adobe Reader 9 print Error - HELP

At the company I work for we are trying to see if upgrading to IE 11 will work for us. Currently the ERP system we use requires a certain version of Adobe Reader, which is 9. I have done testing with XI, but no avail. Also this ERP system requires that we use IE as well (ugh) though we need IE 11 for another product. Everything works fine until trying to print a pdf from the browser, we get this print dialog which doesn't allow us to print and everything is all jumbled up. The only option is to save the pdf and print from Adobe Reader. My question is, how do we fix this and is this an Adobe Reader issue or IE?This has helped me:
Close all instances of Internet Explorer
Start Adobe Reader
Go to the "Help" menu and click "Repair Adobe Reader"
Try again and see if the problem is still there.
I experienced the problem when upgrading Internet Explorer from 9 to 11.

Thank you.I have Adobe Reader version 11.0.04. Preview always works to show PDFs. My problem is they aren't showing up in my browser, so I can't get to download them to view them in preview. I have to look up research articles and the only way to get them first is through the browser, but AR won't let me read them. Just getting a black screen when I try to open a link for PDF's in safari. I did not get any message about it being an unsigned developer, only that Adobe reader is blocked. Any other ideas? ... I looked at the thread below and downloaded Adobe Flash viewer version 12 but that hasn't changed a thing.

I have re-installed Adobe Reader on to my Windows 7 PC. When I open a PDF I was getting an error message containing . . . .Acrord32.exe
I now cannot open any PDF's and Adobe seems unresponsive. I have tried to follow a step by step guide on how to fix this but Adobe won't stay open long enough for me to complete the steps. When I open Adobe it stays open for a matter of seconds then minimises to the task bar and when I click on it again I can't do anything with it and have to close it via task manager
Please help!?Disabling Protected Mode should fix the problem. But since you cannot even open Adobe Reader by itself, you need to do it via the Windows registry. If you tell me your installed Reader version, I can give you a registry script to do that.

Adobe Reader crashes when opening any PDF
Hello!
I have the latest Adobe Reader installed on my parent's laptop. When we try to open ANY PDFs in it, the program crashes and displays the "Adobe Reader has stopped working...." message. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program multiple times and still can't fix the issue. My dad needs it to fill out tax forms when the time comes.

You might need to navigate to ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader'', then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement.
If this does not work, then follow these standard steps as given below:

> Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services

You can also go for a repair option by selecting 'Repair Adobe Reader Installation' option under the Help menu.

It gives me an error message: “Adobe Reader cannot open in protected mode due to an incompatability with your system configuration. Would you like to open Adobe reader with protected mode disabled.” I tried a number of things including clicking on the first and last options the prompt gives. Help!
Three things to try...

Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

I've installed the Adobe Reader Plug In. Yet every time I click to see a PDF, it opens another browser and it is blank. The Browser reads about:blank. How can I fix this so that PDF's open in the browser?

I am having an issue with my adobe acrobat 9 pro. Every time I try to open a pdf from someone it opens it up with my free adobe reader rather than the Acrobat 9 pro so then I don't have all of the functions of 9 pro. How do I get it to open with 9 pro instead of the free reader?
It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.

Adobe Reader 9.4,10,11 crash when opening certain pdfs. Faulting module ntdll.dll
We've started having issues with a certain type of pdf file crashing reader anytime it's opened. It will open fine about 1/10 of the time, the rest of the time it either straight crashes or we get a message that a drawing error occured and the pdf isn't rendered properly. I've tested with Reader 9.4, 10.1.2, 10.1.4, and the latest 11 release. I've tested under WinXP x86 and Win7 x64 with the same results. It does apparently open fine under Windows Server 2008 R2 but the issue is occuring on our desktops and opening from the server was only a test.
I'm unable to share the pdf for others to research since it contains Protected Health Information. The pdf however does have a header with the patient info and then a graph similar to a EKG strip, the header always renders fine but when we get the error that a drawing error occured it's the graph thats corrupt. Sumatra/Foxit/Evince can open the document just fine. I've tried disabling every feature and plugin in Adobe Reader with no luck. I've tried to run the pdf through some tests and I did find there are 2 errors, both are "[error] Object shall end with 'endobj' statement" but I'm unable to find anything that can autocorrect the issue.
We have thousands of those pdf's, they were ran through a Print 2 PDF converter (Win2PDF 7.0.46 - 2.6.7.1465.3 http://www.win2pdf.com) using pdf version 1.4. Anyone have any ideas on what else to try? I'm at a loss and I'd rather not have to install an alternate PDF reader on 6k workstations (although with all the headaches Adobe Reader has caused me that would be a welcome change).
JasonI've tried Acrobat and it won't open the file either, same app crash in ntdll.dll. But I know what you're saying but I don't have the source documents to run through conversion with another application.
I'm not sure how the process was performed but we had a vendor come in and convert all of our old clinical EMR data into PDF's and then index into OnBase. We are working with the vendor for a solution but so far they haven't found nothing. I recommended to them to update their Win2PDF program but I don't think thats an option on the thousand, if not millions of documents already converted.
Why is every other PDF reader able to open the file except Adobe Reader?
