Adobe Reader Silent Install for Mac OS X

Is there a silent install package available for Mac OS X? The "enterprise" site seems to provide the same installer file as the normal site. We need to distribute Adobe Reader across ~600 machines, but the first time you open Reader it prompts users with a license agreement and then asks for administrative privileges. Even worse, it doesn't seem to install the Adobe Reader plugin until after that occurs.
Also, is it possible to get an installer package that leaves out AIR, Acrobat.com and Adobe Updater?

I know nothing about Mac OS, but perhaps you can find some information in

  • Adobe Reader Silent Install (7.0.9)

    Hi,
We have been trying to install Adobe Reader for our organization for a while now.
We need to do a silent install. The switches I am using don't seem to work. Does
anyone know which switches actually work. We have the AdbeRdr709_en_US.exe
located on a server. We want to install it on all of our workstations. I can get it to
install but someone has to be in front of the computer to click Next, Next....
These are the switches I am using:
    \\path\to\executable\AdbeRdr709_en_US.exe /S/v/qn

  • Silent Install for Mac

How can I do a silent install of PSE 8 for Mac?
It seems like all the pieces are there, but I keep getting End Adobe Setup.  Exit code: 7

For Enterprise customers, the preferable route is to contact Adobe directly for their is a specially designed team to handle Enterprise support cases.
May be the below link should help you:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/programs/enterprise/
To be very frank, it is not recommended to us to directly handle enterprise customers on 1-o-1 basis.
You are correct in understanding that the underlying installer technology/engine is same between PSE 8 Mac and CS4 applications, and your silent install command also looks ok, but without the log files, it is hard to comment on why installer is failing.
Can you contact Enterprise support directly to help in this regard, if nothing works out then we can use this platform as last resort. Sounds fine?

  • Problem with adobe reader when installing on mac book. "Internal error occured".

Both me and my friend installed Adobe reader on our mac books this week, and it doesn't work. The only thing that happens when we try to open the program is an text message with "Internal error occured". And that's it. The PDF-file is not the problem, and I have the latest version of Mac operating system, so that's not the problem eighter. Mac support told me to contact you. Please help me as soon as possible. • Adobe Reader 5.05, for MAC 8.6

I need to download Adobe Reader 5.05 on my iMac (10.4.11) as my old Mac (8.6)  is not connected to the internet. Do I need to download version 5 first and then upgrade to 5.05 or would 5.05 be the complete application on it's own? And what would be the best way to transfer it from one to the other, copy on a CD or memory stick? I can't think of any other way but any suggestion more than welcome.

Those old Macs didn't even have USB ports, so you would have to burn a CD. Can't answer your other question - I don't know how the updates worked way back then. That was before my time. The FTP page seems to contain the full installers, but one can't be sure of these things:

  • Problem opening Form based PDF via Safari browser with Adobe Reader 9.3 on MAC

    Hi,
I'm mentioning below the problem that we are facing when we open a form based PDF created using a licensed version of Adobe Livecycle Designer ES (Version 8.2.1.4029.1.523496) on a MAC machine through a Safari Browser.
We tested this PDF form on a windows machine and the PDF opens in an IE browser via the latest Adobe reader 9.3 without any problem. I then received complaints by our clients that they were unable to open the same PDF on their Safari browser on a MAC machine, I tried to resolve the problem by downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader 9.3 for MAC but noticed that the Safari browser window would just keep refreshing the page without displaying the PDF at all. I then uninstalled the Adobe Reader 9.3 version and downloaded and installed an older version i.e., Abobe Reader 8.2 version for MAC and noticed that the PDF document successfully opened in the Safari browser. My question is why does a form based PDF work with an older version of Adobe Reader for MAC and not with the latest version? Our clients are not comfortable with the fact that we are refraining them from upgrading to the latest version of Adobe Reader for MAC and that they would have to downgrade their existing Adobe Reader 9.3 to a lower version Adobe Reader 8.2 in order for the PDF forms to work when it should be the other way around.
Is there any fix or a patch that is currently being worked on that would resolve this issue in the latest Adobe Reader for MAC? If yes then when would it be ready? This issue is quite critical for our business and would appreciate it if this would be looked into with high priority.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sheikh Huraiz Ahmed.

That suggestion makes sense and likely works, but only if the user is on a machine that will allow them to use Reader. I'm sending this out to a lot of teachers, who are using machines either at school, or are school-issued machines, and they don't have the admin privileges to install software-- even Reader.
so my problem is, if they are stuck on a machine without Reader, and without the possibility of having Reader... it's just not going to work because Preview can't handle these functions.
And, since that is not an acceptable answer with what I'm trying to do... I will find another way to create/submit forms. I think there are some online possibilities I will have to make work.
    very, very disappointing and frustrating.

  • Silent install for adobe reader version 110003

silent install for adobe reader version 110003

    Hi,
I don't know your more details about how you pretend to deploy your Adobe Reader but I did this to my current deployment and many people on the company are happy with this:
1- I extracted the contents from the Adobe Reader installer.
2- I modified the MSI using Customization Wizard to hide some menus (Maybe you can skip this step if you don't need to customize it)
3- On SCCM 2012 I created a Script deployment with a CMD file which contains the following command for silent install. (You don't need to have an SCCM infrastructure to deploy it but it will help)
    start /wait msiexec /i "%~dp0AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="%~dp0AcroRead.mst" PATCH="%~dp0AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp;%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11002.msp"
    or
    msiexec /i "%~dp0AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="%~dp0AcroRead.mst" PATCH="%~dp0AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp;%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11002.msp"
    - On my case I used %~dp0 because I'm installing from a server caching files on client machines but if you pretend to test and install it locally avoid using: %~dp0 and put your absolut path. Like C:\Temp or your MSI and source files location.
    - Start /wait - Will execute your MSI installer file and then once is finished will proceed with the next command if any.
    - Transforms- will force the MSI to apply the custom settings I did on Customization Wizard)
    - PATCH- command will proceed to install the patches you may have at the moment 11.0.1, 11.0.2, etc...
Hope this will help you !

Could you please try installing Reader again from the below mentioned link:

  • Adobe Photoshop 6.0 for mac install

I purchased Adobe Photoshop 6.0 for mac off ebay, but when I try to install it I get a message that says the old style install is not supported. I am using an iMac Intel with Lion installed. Any suggestions?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 installed and it is working in Lion; however..... I installed mine while still running Snow Leopard. I mention this because it could be a problem with the Adobe Installer being a PPC application, while the actual application is Universal (I checked that and it is universal).
I had this same thing happen with my Final Cut Express - the installer would refuse to run, but I managed to copy all the files and application and move it over to Lion and the application runs just fine.
I don't know if yours is the same problem, but thought I'd offer this in case - did you get a warning that PPC applications do not work in Lion? If so, as long as you have a Mac with Snow Leopard, you might be able install it there and then to migrate it over (not sure though because Adobe places files everywhere and you'd have to copy them all).
