Adobe Reader X Plug-In

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium with Internet Explorer 9.0.4 and I am unable to open pdf in the browser.   I have tried going to the manage add-ons but it is not listed in any of the fields.  I really need to be able to open pdf's in the browser for my job.
Can someone tell me if they have had a similar issue and how they resolved it.

The Reader add-on does not work on 64-bit browsers; you need to use the 32-bit IE edition in order to view online documents in the browser.

  • Control Adobe Reader browser plug-in programmatically

Is it possible to control the size of the
    Adobe Reader Browser plug-in programmitically?
I would like to be able to:
    1) Reduce the size of the plugin, so that I can use the
botton half of the browser to display other information.
    2) Change/Reload/Specify a different document to display.
    3) Programmitically zoom or chnage pages.
I would like to do this with ASP.NET, if possible.
I've seen thrid party ASP.NET controls that do this.
I would prefer to use the Adobe plug-in.
    Thanks

    Try reinstalling Lion:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Adobe reader "missing plug-in"

Since upgrading (downgrading?) to Lion, several places where pages previously would load and appear no longer do so, but instead greet me with "missing plug-in".  When I check to see which plug-in is indeed missing, I'm told "To view this content, I need Adobe Reader" and instructs me to go to Adobe to get the plug-in.  After downloading and installing Reader, I still get this message.  I must confess I'm not well versed in the world of Mac commands so any assistance would be appreciated.  What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader XI - plug-ins

I cannot get my plugin(api) to show up in the tools menu, it works in the previous versions on Adobe Reader.
Do I need to get my plug-in certified to work?

Adobe Reader XI is not yet available to the public. If you are using a prerelease copy you must only discuss issues within the program, not on a public forum.

  • Adobe reader missing plug-ins

Having read that Adobe Flash had been hacked two days ago I "uninstalled" everything I could find in Finder to do with Adobe to try to clean up my IMac and start fresh when I upgraded to Mountain Lion on August 26.  Then re-downloaded Adobe Reader.  Now some of my documents won't open because it states: "There was an error opening this document.  The file is damaged and could not be repaired."  If I go back in Time Machine to before I did the uninstall will this allow the files to be displayed in the original, undamaged format?  Also, if I go back in Time Machine will I lose my emails, documents and other data since that date?  (two days ago)  System Preferences still shows Adobe Flash in the "Other" section along with Flip4Mac and Perian even though I tried to delete Flash Player from here.
The second issue is that when I go to Charlie Rose it states "Blocked Plugin" .  Additionaly, I am unable to open movies and clips that come to me via email due to the same message.  Is this a security feature of Mountain Lion or have I removed necessary plugins?
    Thanks for any help.

The Flash Player icon still appears in SYSTEM PREFERENCES pane marked "OTHER".  When I view the tabs (Advanced tab specifically)  it shows that Plug-in version 11.3.300.257 in installed.  HOWEVER, since I can not find any program named Adobe Flash anywhere else including under Applications or Devices it appears that I must have successfully uninstalled Flash. If this is correct, why does the icon still appear in System Preferences?  If this indicates that it is not uninstalled then I am back to the problem of how to do it and that is not addressed in the article referred to above since I don't have either the application or the device to uninstall.
Meanwhile any help regarding the Adobe Reader issue would be welcome.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Reader XI plug-ins for IE8

I am updated to Adobe Reader XI 11.0.02 according to "Help/About Adobe Reader XI," and my "Add or Remove programs" on XP- SP3 says 11.0.02.  Also, my plug-in for Chrome says 11.0.02. But, my IE8 plug-ins still say 11.0.01.36 for Adobe PDF Reader and 11.0.0.379 for Adobe PDF Link Helper.  I uninstalled reader and reinstalled and still the same thing.  Why won't the IE8 Reader plug-ins update?
    Thanks.

I see the same in IE10; maybe the IE add-on was not updated (i.e. not affected by the security fixes that went into 11.0.1 & 11.0.2)?

  • I'm checking my plug-ins & I have an outdated Adobe Reader PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape vers 10.1.13.16. Updating doesn't help, just says up to date.

    Running Windows Vista

Unfortunately, Adobe doesn't support the current Reader XI on Windows Vista.
If the Help > Check for Updates inside Adobe Reader X says you are good, you'll have to trust Adobe on that. The Mozilla plugin checker isn't designed to have multiple current versions for different flavors of Windows (at least, the last time I checked it wasn't).

  • Disabling Adobe Reader X Plug-In

I have always enjoyed Safari's ability to open PDFs natively without requiring a plug-in. I recently installed Abobe Reader X, and now it is the default plug-in for PDFs. I have tried to disable this in Reader's preferences, but the checkbox is grayed out. Is there a preference, or Terminal trick I can use, or should I downgrade my version of Reader back to 9.4?

  • Troubleshoot pdf adobe reader file to convert to doc and save to disk

I unfortunately have major issues with pdf files. I am not even certain how or why I am no longer able to use postscripts to view online pdf files which then enabled me to save as either a word docx or as in pages or in excell on my computer. Because many websites require adobe reader to view pdf files I downloader the adobe reader 11.0.04. Since then all online / htlm files can not be saved accordingly. In addition when I create a word, excell or page file and want to save it as a pdf on computer drive it only allows it to be saved to adobe online pdf.
I never signed up to have adobe save pdf files online. I do not have share file options or any type of online subscriptions. I checked my system preferences and do not have cloud documents checked off.
I want to find out is it possible to view, convert and save online web archieve and other pdf files without adobe. If so what and how.
What is the equivilant of a pdf converter app which I thought I had on my Mac. FYI using Mac book pro OS 10.8.5 not ready to go to 10.9.
I use Safari 80% of time and Firefox the rest of time but only when websites work with Safari.
If I were to eliminate adobe reader pdf plug in but wanted current disk saved files to open a pdf version what would happen? I admit I feel a bit behind in understanding pdf and webarchieve mechanics but am willing to learn. So if anyone can give me online learining tutorials that not only explain how but also provide video practice I would appreciate it.

Another option is Sirvisetti AutoMail Desktop Connector (part of Sirvisetti AutoStream family of products) that allows you to convert any document to PDF and automatically launches your default e-mail client with the document attached. You just need to add To/Cc/Bcc, type in the subject and message body and click send!
You can request for a demo at http://www.sirvisetti.com
    Hope it helps!

  • Adobe Reader 8 crashes on my MacBook

I cannot seem to get Reader 8 to run for more than 10 seconds before is shuts itselft down on my CoreDuo MacBook - no error messages. I've done fresh downloads, reinstalled it, deleted Reader Library files, rebooted, and launched it in every way possible (including Safe Boot) with the same result.
Has anyone had a similar experience or a suggestion? Thanks.

    Hi,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been discussing this crash on the Adobe Reader forums at www.adobe.com and many others have this crashing problem with Adobe Reader 8. I also submitted a bug report with Adobe and got a reply from them that they have re-created the problem in their labs and they are working on a fix.
The problem is due to the Updater plug-in so if you go inside the Application and Show Contents, you can navigate to the plug-ins folder and remove the Updater.acroplugin and the app will work fine.
This is a temporary work around until Adobe provides a fix.
Ok, suspecting it was the Updater Plug-in causing the problems, I removed it from the application package (Adobe Reader/Contents/Plug-ins/Updater.acroplugin) .
I just moved that folder out of the app and put in on the desktop. Now Adobe Reader 8 works fine. This is definitely the cause of my crash. I checked the About Adobe Plug-ins and I can see all the other 22 plug-ins have been loaded (was 23 originally with Updater.acroplugin).

  • Adobe Reader XI 11 slow in browser but fast in Reader..

We are required to use IE 8, within IE we have an intranet which references PDF files.
If I open the PDF file from the network \\fqdn\share\xyz.pdf it works and is very fast (in PDF Viewer)
If I open the same pdf, from the same path inside of IE 8, it opens but then freezes for 6-25 sec.
I cant change browsers, I cant change versions or readers.
    Any idea how to resolve?
My first thought was to have it open in the reader vs the browser, but the checkmark to disable opening in browser does not exist.  Disabling the plugin also did not work.
    Environment
    Server 2003 R2
    IE 8
    Reader 11

    Fixed my own issue.
Do the following steps to disable Adobe Reader browser plug-in in IE8:
    1. Launch IE8
    2. Click on Tools menu > Manage Add-ons
    3. Select the "Toolbars and Extensions" under "Add-on Types"
    4. Select the "Run without permission" from the drop-down menu under "Show"
    5. Select the "Adobe PDF Reader"
    6. Click on the "Disable" button
    7. Click on "Close" button to dismiss the "View and Manage your Internet Explorer add-ons"
    Fixed my issue.
