Adobe Reader X triggers high speed fan in Qosmio F750

Has anybody experienced this? When certain .pdf files are opened it triggers the fan to start blowing air inside the laptop. Will not stop until reboot or close down. Not all .pdf files do this - think it is about 50%. This laptop has done this since bought in June 2012.
Anybody got any ideas?

Ive never heard about that. Is this issue related to pdf files and Adobe Reader only or you have noticed that some specific actions or when more different applications are open this happen.
Before you open it next time try to close some useless processes in task manager and check please if this will happen again.
Please post some feedback.

  • Continuous, triggered, high-speed motion capture

    Hello,
I'm attempting to perform a continuous triggered high speed motion capture independent of the motion, and it's not clear that this is possible. Before I spend a few hours on a wild goose chase, I thought I'd ask around.
I have a digital pulse train coming in at about 100 Hz and I'd like to measure the position of my motion system in all 3 axes at each pulse. Having acquired the data, it should then get dumped to a file. This should happend continuously until the user exits the program. The continuous part of this seems unnecessarily complicated, involving on-board programming, if my reading of examples such as onboard-hsi-gpbuffer.vi and continuous_hsc.vi is correct. However, if that's the worst of it, I'll survive.
Meanwhile, the system is undergoing random motion, including starting and stopping of the axes. This is the part that has me particularly concerned. All of the examples that I have seen, both bundled and otherwise, seem to include a single move as part of the program. Since my system will be undergoing multiple moves controlled by the user, I'm concerned that these moves (or the end of the moves) will cancel the capture operations.
Does anyone have any insight into this sort of setup?
    Thanks,
    Jason

This seems to do the trick. It's based on the "Onboard Program - Continuous High Speed Capture into General Purpose Buffer" which can be found in the online examples. It implements an on-board program which fills a general purpose buffer. Most importantly, it runs continuously and independent of the motion or stops of the various axes. Hope someone else finds it useful.
Still curious if this is really the easiest way to accomplish this.

  • Tecra S11 - High Speed Fan

    Hi guys,
I need some help on a issue that really puzzle's me.
After I tried to make a bios update to the ultimate (February 2012) version, within windows 7, I've obtained an error message stating that I had no permission to make the update. Since then, the fan starts to rotate in high speed, as soon as I start the computer, just after the logo display.
Since then I've upgraded the bios using the Dos procedure, but the proble persists. It performs like a fully fledge high capacity server regarding the noise fan.
How can I troubleshoot this and solve it?
    Thank you.

    Hi MasterG,
Thank you for your answer but that is not the problem.
Than Fan rotation starts at Post level, long before the Os kernel starts to execute.
Another starnge thing is that when I put the pc on sleep mode, when it awakes the fan is stoped. If I restart the Pc the symptom restarts.
I tried to update the bios to ver 3.30 using BIOS330_EC200.exe
It could be a EC/KBD problem. When executing from Win7 it states:
    BIOS Version : Current Ver.3.30 --> Updated Ver.3.30
    EC Version : Current Ver.1.90 --> Updated Ver.2.00
There is need to update EC.
    <EXECUTE THE UPDATE>
Error: Preparing to update was failed.
You have not given permission to execute the update.
Really there's a problem with the update. Then only way I could do the bios update was preparing a Dos usb device and boot executing Chgbiosf BIO0076T.com and it worked.
when I tried to update the Ec using Chgbiosf EC72V200.BIN it says that the file does not exist.
So, this is the status of the problem. I don't know if anyone can help, but I fear that th Tecra S11 will blow up anytime soon if this continues.
    Thanks.

Does anybody know if there is a solution for this problem? I don't wanna change the screen resolution just for using that software.

    Hello nordlicht.22
1024x768 screen resolution is supported resolution for Adobe Reader XI.

  • Is Adobe reader 8 or higher supported in webdynpro applications

    Hi,
We have developed a webdynpro application which opens up a Adobe form for the user. The problem is for a user who is uisng IE 7 and adobe version 8 or higher, when he runs the application the adobe form does not open up he has a small 'X' sign coming up instead.
Please let me know which version of adobe and IE are compatible for adobe forms embedded in webdynpro ABAP
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The problem could be your form's layout type. I think its xACF if its WD ABAP or ActiveX if WD Java. So try your layout type to be changed as Native in WD Java or if you are using WD ABAP then as ZCI. I think it will work.
    Regards,

  • Sporadic high-speed fan behavior ––– removing battery solves problem?

Every so often, my fans will peg around 6,000rpm, even though the operating temp is around 120º – not nearly hot enough to trigger such fan action. I check Activity Monitor and nothing is hogging the CPU (Safari 5.0, kernel_task 3.3, pmTool 2.6, configd 2.4, etc. – these are pretty typical readings.) The % Idle is usually around 90%.
I just discovered that removing the battery solves the problem. Just one minute later, my fan speed is at 2003rpm.
It's driving me nuts, and (of course) when I take it to the Genius Bar, it won't replicate the problem.
    Any ideas?

While I'm not sure what may be causing your sporadic fan behavior, running your MacBook Pro with the battery removed causes the system to significantly reduce the processor speed. That is probably why your system is running cooler with the battery removed... not because of any fault with the battery itself:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2332
You may want to reset your System Management Controller (SMS). The link below provides the details. Among the things this will address are fans that run at high speed although the computer is not experiencing heavy usage and is properly ventilated. Be sure to follow the instructions specific for your machine as they vary slightly from model to model.

  • Bypass High Speed fan tray req for Sup720

Anyone use the command to disabled this feature? What's the command? What's the procedure (boot ROM)? How long can the system run without causing damage? Immediate need to boot until high fan tray can be delivered.

The command is ALLOWANYFAN=1 in ROMMON. I did not have to use set to add variable, but use it to view. I'm not sure if it's case sensitive. I used all upper case and alarm indicators went out on sup module. Here's some log outout. Notice the temp rising. (The chassis powered down sup module after approx. 5 minutes without these commands. Notice the logg buff output warnings).

  • Adobe Reader ignores mouse scroll speed setting

Whenever I load a .PDF file, the mouse scroll wheel setting is ignored and the document scrols 1 line at a time. This is very annoying when trying to read a document, especially is it is a long one.
Is there a way to set the scroll speed in the Reader so that it matches the Windows scroll speed setting?

    tasty_minerals wrote:
Can anybody tell me how to set a mouse scroll speed in "chromium" for example? I found an application called "imwheel", and edited ~/.imwheelrc adding
    "^chromium$”
    None, Up, Button4, 5
    None, Down, Button5, 5
    but still get an error:
    INFO: imwheel started (pid=897)
expected 3 args, got 1, in config.
    “^chromium$”
How to make it properly, anyone?
fixed it, just needed to remove "$" sign in “^chromium$” > “^chromium”.
One thing is if imwheel working, you cant increase fonts in chromium with "ctrl + wheel" unfortunately.

  • Random High Speed Fan

For the few of us that have this problem (Main fans randomly go to full speed and usually will not slow down until computer is completely shut down and started again) You should get your original cds that came with your mac and put in disk one and run the extended diagnostic test. When I did this I came up with the error: 4SNS/1/40000001:VMBS. A call to apple has a tech scheduled to replace the logic board. I know it is an easy problem to ignore, but you might as well do it now before your warranty runs out! If anybody has had a different solution to this, please post.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The first thing you should try is to reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 This will reset the fan speed, so it should be working again.
If after doing that, your iMac keeps turning off automatically, you should take the Mac to an Apple Store because it looks like a hardware issue

Late 2009 Intel iMac is having reoccurring episodes of high speed fan running, especially after waking it up. The SMC reset by unplug and reboot works, but I worry that this is a serious sign and that the machine is slowly dying. Any thoughts? Works fine otherwise.

  • Use Adobe Reader to Save Form Data

I use Acrobat 8 Professional to create several forms and enabled usage rights in Adobe Reader so that my users can save the form data locally using Adobe Reader 7 or higher. My questions are: (1.)Is there a limit to saving the form data? For example, the form can only be save 500 times per form or is it unlimited. (2.)If there is a limit to saving the form like 500 times, can the same form be recreated and the limit of 500 starts all over again? (3.)Do I need to purchase a license to save these form data? (4.)How many forms can have enable usage rights in Adobe Reader per Adobe Acrobat professional? The reason why i'm asking these questions is because I want to be in compliance with the Adobe license. My users don't have Adobe Acrobat Professional, but would like to use Adobe Reader to save the form data.

    >(1.)Is there a limit to saving the form data?
It is my understanding that you can harvest data from a form 500 times whether that be from one user of 500 users.
    >(2.)If there is a limit to saving the form like 500 times, can the same form be recreated and the limit of 500 starts all over again
You'd probably be walking on thin ice by trying that. Could be a loophole but maybe not.
    >(3.)Do I need to purchase a license to save these form data?
Not if you stay within the limit that is stated in the EULA.
    >(4.)How many forms can have enable usage rights in Adobe Reader per Adobe Acrobat professional?
Different forms? As far as I know there is no limit to the amount of different forms you use.
In my opinion, if you think you are going to go anywhere near the limitations of the EULA, consult with your attorney before proceeding. The form enabling function was never intended for large business use. Adobe has another, more costly, solution for that.

  • How to solve Adobe Reader 8 and Internet Explorer (IE) setting set to Download Disable

Anyone can help me with this issue. Due to our company policy, Download is disable in the Internet Explorer (IE). With Adobe Reader 4/5/6, we are able to open and view the pdf on the IE. But with Adobe Reader 7/8, it require IE download enable before open the pdf file.

Yes, I agree that PDF always downloaded to IE Temp folder. But with IE download disabled and using either Acrobat Reader 6, we can open online PDF files. With with the same setting as above, but now using Adobe Reader 7 or 8, we would get the message "The current security setting does not allow for the files to be downloaded".
Anybody know of any workaround solution or something changed with Adobe Reader 7 or higher?
    Thanks.

  • Hi Speed Fan Running

All of a sudden the high speed fan is on and don't know how to correct or verify status. Ran permissions. I do have disk warrior if that is germain?

Sorted this out thru research on intel imac's. Found a thread talking about resetting SMC (System Mgmt Controller). Essentially the fix is holding down the power button and shutting down the IMAC. Then unplug power cord. "A reset".
I knew the IMAC was not overheating and have never heard the fan going full tilt?
Hopefully this will help others at a later time. BTW the IMAC just had it's 1st birthday without a problem.
