Adobe Update Manager(Reader8)

  • Adobe Update Manager Disabled using Packager

    Hi,
I installed CC Apps by use of a package created with Creative Cloud Packager.  I had the "Adobe Update Manager" set to Disabled. Also, "Disable Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application" was checked.
Now that the apps are installed, is it possible to have them Auto-Update again?  I downloaded the Creative Cloud Desktop App and installed it, but it doesn't even see that the apps are already installed, and wants to install them all over again.
Any ideas besides re-creating the packages and re-installing everything?
    Thanks in advance,
    James

    Hi JamesAcart,
Please follow these Steps to enable the the Adobe Update feature.
    Windows:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0
In this location please look for the ‘AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.DAT’ file and open this file with notepad.
After opening the file in notepad you can find below mentioned code.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Preferences>
                  <Suppressed>1</Suppressed></Preferences>
Change the Suppressed value from 1 to 0 and save the file at the same location.
Same steps applied to Macintosh in the below mentioned location.
    Mac:
    Go to – Main HD /Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0

  • Adobe update manager

What part does adobe update manager play in the ongoing functioning of 5.5?

If we issue an update patch, and if we were to do so I would notify the forum in advance, the update manager would be able to discover this, notify you, and perform the download and installer launch.  At this time there are no plans to release a patch.  With CS 6 due in less than a year, and with any patch or update requiring significant testing that could otherwise be spent on new feature development, it's unlikely to occur unless a serious flaw on the level of data corruption or fatalities is found.
So you can probably kill that process without worry.

  • Adobe Update Manager Crashes even though not installed???

Using Mac OS (Tiger), each time the Apple is re-started, adobe manager update flashes on the screen and crashes the starting of the Mac. This happens even though I have deleted all the "Update Manager" programs that i can find. The "problem report" window says the path of the crash is: Path:    /Applications/Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional/Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.app/Contents/Plug-ins/Updater.acroplugin/Adobe Update Manager.app/Contents/MacOSClassic/Adobe Update Manager
    Parent:  WindowServer [69]
But, I follow that path and it does not exist.
I have tried calling Adobe and have never found a less helpful company in any area of life. If I could delete all Adobe products and find another pdf reader I would gladly do that. Any help, please?

I'd recommend re-installing Acrobat. If that doesn't help, try deleting your system cache using a utility like Applejack or Onyx.

  • What is wrong with Adobe Update Manager???!!!

Why in heaven's name can't Adobe fix their broken Update Manager?! Once again, the Update manager tells me that I have updates available, but the information is completely bogus. Two updates are listed: Photoshop CS5 12.0.4 and Illustrator CS5 15.0.2. The problem is that I am already running Photoshop 12.0.5 and Illustrator 15.0.2.
Is it really too much to ask that the Update Manager for this very expensive software work properly???!!!

I appreciate your reply, Steve. But it sounds like you're saying that the way to fix the Update Manager's whacko behavior is to tell it not to check for Photoshop CS5 updates. But that's its job! Still sounds broken to me. I understand that the 12.0.5 security update was issued "outside the AUM framework", but why do it that was if it was going to confound users?
For me, the same thing is still happening today—not just with Photoshop CS5, but also with Illustrator CS5. AUM tells me that the 15.0.2 update is available, but I am already running Illustrator 15.0.2.
It's not a temporary hassle, it's a permanent hassle because the AUM clearly cannot be trusted. It means that the only reliable way to update any of my CS5 apps is to manually go to the Adobe website and drill down to the relevant section for each CS5 app individually. This is shoddy customer service at its finest.

  • Adobe Update Manager for CS4 fails

I've reinstalled CS4 from the discs (if I'd realized I could download new installers I would have done that instead, but I saw that option after I'd finished) and when I tried to check for updates the updater failed to retrieve any, with the message that updates for Adobe Updater 'cannot be determined at this time'.  I installed the newest version of Updater 6 that I could see, but that didn't resolve the issue.

  • Problem with Adobe Update Manager

    Hi there
I'm having trouble with AUM. I have a MacBook Pro running OS10.5
I have been looking around the Forums and have tried various solutions such as going to an individual product's update page (eg Flash) manually downloading the update, but this does not work.
This is the message I get when AUM fails:

If you just open the Application Manager by itself, does it successfully update?
As for Illustrator, you can download the offline installer from http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cc-2014-direct-download-links.html (CC 2014).
Make sure you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page.

  • Illustrator CS3 crashes when I print on Mavericks operating system, adobe update manager doesnt connect to internet

Apple say its a compatibility issue with Mavericks and will probably work with updates, but the updater comes up with the error message "No internet connection.  Check internet settings/or firewall."  Any advice?

Moving this discussion to the Illustrator forum.

Adobe update refuses to work for CS6 and Photoshop elements. App manager refuses to install. Support Advisor is of no help.Anyone had the same problem? It has all worked perfectly for some years now, but refuses this week.Has Adobe changed something.Windows 7.

    What exactly means "refuses"?
This is the message which comes up if I try to update (from the Help menu) or re-install my licenced copies of CS6 or Photoshop Elements 9.
    “We've encountered the following issues
Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem”
    Get Adobe Support Advisor”
    OR
on trying to open PhotoshopCS6 I get this message:-
“Adobe Application Manager required to start your trial, is missing or damaged.
Please download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager_uk”
When I follow these instructions and try and start up/install or update Photoshop CS6 I get the same messages all over again. This has been going on since Tuesday afternoon and I am anxiuous to resolve the problem. For several years now all this has worked perfectly through your website and I cannot understand what has changed.  Once I cancel these messages the products themselves seem to function OK. When I attempt to use Adobe Update Manager I get the same messages as above. You will see that my products are properly licensed and up to date. Have you any solution?

    Hi,
Updater logs can be found at following locations
    Win Vista and higher: <os-drive>:\Users\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\
    Win XP: <os-drive>:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\
Please zip the 1.0 folder and send it to [email protected] for investigations.
Meanwhile, after sending in the logs you may try to delete the 1.0 folder, it should fix the issue. Do update the thread if the issue indeed gets fixed !
    Thanks,

  • Remote update manager and ausst

    Hello,
I try to set up automatic updates for all creative cloud applications in our company. The AUSST is already working and a web-directory exists, but there are still some problems I cannot solve yet.
    1. Does the remote udpate manager also use the AdobeUpdater.Overrides? If not, how can I use our internal AUSST Web Server for the remote updates?
    2. Which option in the Creative Cloud Packager creates the folder \ProgramData\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\ ?
    3. Where does the Adobe Update Manager save the .overrides-file I chose in the Adobe Update Manager? Does this file also apply for the Remote Update Manager?
    4. Is there any way to change the extended configuration parameters for a package after the installation
    Thanks and regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,
Please find the answers outlined below.
    1. Does the remote update manager also use the AdobeUpdater.Overrides? If not, how can I use our internal AUSST Web Server for the remote updates?
Ans: Setup RUM with AUSST : Creative Cloud Help | Using Adobe Remote Update Manager
    2. Which option in the Creative Cloud Packager creates the folder \ProgramData\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\ ?
Ans : Creative cloud packager doesn't create this folder. this is being created while deploying the update payloads.
    3. Where does the Adobe Update Manager save the .overrides-file I chose in the Adobe Update Manager? Does this file also apply for the Remote Update Manager?
Ans: Override.xml is being generated manually using Adobe update server setup tool. In case you install the package without setting up an update sever under package configuration, it generates AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat.
    4. Is there any way to change the extended configuration parameters for a package after the installation
Ans : Package configuration can't be changed once created once created.
    Hope this helps.
Let me know in case you would need any further clarification.
    Thanks,
    Ashish

  • Problem with Adobe Updater - WebPremium CS3

Hello. Is anyone having trouble installing Adobe's latest updates to CS3 on Leopard (Macbook Pro)? It seems to hang on the Flash update. The update caused chaos on my Macbook Pro, constantly writing crash logs as soon as I quit a process another started up. I resorted to a clean install (my 3rd since Leopard) and exactly the same thing happens when Adobe Update Manager kicks in and gets stuck on Flash 9.0.2 update even when running as root. I reproduced the same results on my G5 too so at this point I can only assume the problem rests with Adobe. Anyone else?

Aha, it seems to be Adobe's problem, the latest updates hangs on Flash

  • W7 x64 CS6 Adobe Application Manager lost Applications

On my systems (desktop + laptop) I have installed the CS6 Suites. Well known, that there are no functionality updates for CS6 no longer, but I would like to get the updates for Camera Raw …… The situation is, on the laptop the Adobe Application Manager works fine, but on the desktop I have an empty list of application and therefore no updates. How can I manage this?

I came across your post but I'm using a Mac. I had the same errors but decided to try out PS CS6 and found it was already updated. I rebooted and the errors disappeared. (My Adobe Update Manager works with both CC and CS6.) If you've already tried verifying update and rebooting, perhaps this thread (link) will help?
Adobe Application Manager won't update on Win 8.1 -> cannot install apps
