[advance question] loading a swf in adobe Air, which loads an image with "componentloader"

Good evening all,
I think this is a complex issue.
I have adobe air application which loads a SWF I made.
Inside this SWF I have used the "component LOADER" to load
something with "ContentPath=image.jpg" for example.
But the swf loaded in the Adobe air works, but does not load
the "ContentPath image"...
(it does load and display it when it this swf is run outside
adobe Air)
I need it to be dynamic like this, so if eventually I Include
it in the package it won't help much...
I just intend to replace an image background from this loaded
swf file!

At this time of the editing, I fear and realize
something....I have been using Actionscript2 for the .SWF file,
could it be why it does not works???
If its problematic, is there a simple way like telling it to
read actionscript2, rather than transforming everything??

Yes. However, the Adobe AIR APIs are only exposed to Flash
content via ActionScript 3 / AVM2, and thus Flash 8 / AVM1 SWFs

nope I confirm at least some code made in Actionscript2
works.
I am sure this code needed to be changed for working in
actionscript3, so "actionscript2" code works in Adobe Air.
The problem of not loading my image must come from something
else!!??

I tried so much to think maybe Adobe Air does not like a SWF
using actionscript2, or it does not load any "external image from a
swf", etc...
None of that!
I just in FLASH in the ComponentLoader....I did put simply
the ContentPath at "myimage.jpg"....
Of course I had to use the absolute path like
"c:\\myfolder\\myimage.jpg"
Of course aswell it works now!!!

I am running Windows 7 and use Adobe AIR for Flixster. When I tried to open Flixster I recieved an error message saying i needed to install Adobe AIR. I looked and saw that according to control panel, Adobe AIR is installed. I attempted to uninstall but get this EXACT message:
"This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found. Please download the latest version of the runtime from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair, or contact the application author for an updated version."
I have tried going to the mentioned website but i get an error message saying installation failed and may need administrative privilages but I AM the administrator!
I then tried multiple solutions on the forums including the command prompt uninstall and still no luck. contacted customer support who told me i can only receive assistance through these forums.
Very frustrating. Please Help.

I have the same issue with a customer of ours:
Try to uninstall AIR – same message. (When I reinstall, the install says it’s successful.) I try to run our app, same message. I downloaded another AIR app, same message – so it’s not our app it’s AIR. We logged in as Administrator, same message. It’s a Windows7 machine. I did a system restore to 2 days ago and started over and still the same issues. I'm sorry you're running into installation issues with AIR. Microsoft has released a utility that can help resolve installation problems. Would you mind giving this a try and let us know how it works for you? When running the Fix it, go through the uninstall process and try to remove Adobe AIR from your system. Once finished, download the latest version of AIR and install again.

Another alternative is to create a new, temporary user account and install AIR from there. Once installed, go back to your normal account and try running your AIR app again.

Application Is Running On A Version of Adobe AIR Which Is No Longer Supported?

This is the message I get when I try opening an F4V. file. I never had this issue in the past. I tried going to the website to update my version of Adobe AIR, and it says I cannot, since it's already up-to-date. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have access to the problematic machine? If so, maybe you could try to install Sysinternal's Process Monitor http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
Run the tool, create filter to see just events containing your app name and try to find in the result any issue... you could also compare the log with same log from not problematic machine or with app made with older SDK which was working.
That's all what I can do... it's a shame that nobody from Adobe is interested yet... maybe you could also submit a bug.

Unfortunately if there are various colours across the screen then you have broken the LCD Screen and it will need replacing. If the colours change when you press the area lightly then this is another symptom that you've broken the screen.

To program for iOS 6, you need iOS 6 SDK. You need to download Xcode 4.5.x. But don't worry. All your previous projects are still alive and you are able to open them in the new Xcode.

Currently i am using a CS3 IDE to compile AIR application.I
am trying to load the flash 8 SWF inside my AIR application.After
loading the SWF, when i try to trace the stage width inside the
flash 8 SWF , it says undefined.Not sure why..
Googling few hours not able to get the solution.

This is a fairly common question on these forums. Basically,
AS2 and AS3(Flex/AIR) can't communicate directly. You will either
need to use LocalConnection or use ExternalInterface and javascript
to pass info between the 2.

SWF in Adobe Air Flex

I have created a simple application in Flex / Air which embeds an HTML file, it was working fine, until the moment I used a swf animation inside that HTML... it is not being displayed in the Flex/Air app !! Why is that ? How am I supposed to make it work ? Please help..
Notice that I do not want to run only the SWF, but I want the whole HTML which contains the SWF... thanks in advance !

Are you using HTMLLoader to load this HTML page? If not, I recommend to use it. Check it out here, there is an example at the end of the webpage.

Yes- I've had some lower price pc's using an Adobe AIR app and can tell the difference.
Computers where performance was a huge issue was Compaq CQ56 & Toshiba Satellite C655D
These computers are under 2.0 GHz and the app seems to freeze up on occassion or run slower.

Loading library.swf (unpacked from swc) using loader() and using it's assets

I try to load libary.swf from an swc file in order to use it's library items.
i load the library.swf using urlrequest and loader() and then use getDefinition() to fetch the class definition
of the UIMovieclip element.
i simply created the swc file by adding library assets to an swf file, converting them to a flex component and extending each compoent with the UIMovieClip class.
when i load the swf file from a url (http) i get the following error:
VerifyError: Error #1053: Illegal override of UIMovieClip in mx.flash.UIMovieClip.
when i load the file locally, i get no error. any ideas why?

Adobe AIR Android + MediaPlayer: Video Plays with no Audio

I am trying to play a video in my Adobe AIR Android App. I can't seem to get the video to play with audio in the application. I can get the audio to play in the native players on both my Samsung Galay and my Asus Transformer outside of my app, but when I load the video using StageVideo, the audio doesn't play at all.
I tried just launching the video into the navtive browser or using StageWebView but that doesn't work either.
I am a bit at a loss and need some advice.

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (both of which iTunes uses) does not convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.

We have created a Flex Mobile application and we need to create a corresponding sync application using Adobe AIR for copy some contents from Desktop to Mobile Phone. Does anyone has any idea how to get started any pointers would be of great help. Also is Adobe would be the right technolgy to go with as we would be required to create similar application for Mac OS too.

I've tried uninstalling, cleaning and reinstalling AIR several times, but the problem it's still there.
