Advice needed on speeding up load times.

I need some practical advice on ways in which I can speed up the load time on one particular page of my website. This page: http://www.thinksmartresumes.com.au/%2499-designs.html
I know there are hundreds of localised factors including Internet connection but lots of people have now commented that this page take over 30 seconds to load. I know it's a big page with lots of png's and links. What can I do to speed things up???
Any advice welcome apart from splitting the page up (that's not an option). I can't read code btw.
Cheers all.

Hi
I tried to check the page which loads slow and can see the reason, while opening the page , browser downloads 10.1 mb of data for that single page out of which 9.7 mb is only for images which you have used on page.
The images as I have checked are png format and defines for states.
The only option you can use is optimize the images you have used, for example if you have used images with opacity or states effect, try to create the image outside of Muse with any editor like Photoshop and then use that image which should lower down the size in comparison to defined states.
Resize the images , use web fonts etc , these things you can check which would help in loading the page faster.
Thanks,
Sanjit

  • Same image, loaded multiple times: speeding up load time?

    I wrote this message before thinking about embedding the
    image... I was thinking that putting a relative path automatically
    embedded the image, but in retrospect I was wrong, and that will
    probably solve my problem. I'll just leave the question here anyway
    though:
    I'm using image components in my application loaded from a
    relative path. The problem is, I have many copies (30+) of the same
    image, essentially 30+ identical image components which need to be
    loaded/unloaded at different intervals, and they are not loading
    fast enough for me. Would it be more effective to duplicate an
    existing "master" Image to improve load time instead of explicitly
    setting "image.source=" each time? Is there any better solution for
    improving image load speed?
    Best of all would be some way to pre-cache or buffer images,
    so that I can be guaranteed that they will load as quickly as
    possible when I bind them to an Image component.
    Cheers!

    JPGS are much better for photos.  PNGs are good when you need transparency.
    Instead of Image Swapping, why don't you use a photo gallery?
    FancyBox is nice..  It supports real text captions/descriptions, too.

  • How can I speed up loading time on Android?

    Hello!
    I'm creating an AIR app for Android and I've run into an issue with the loading time: when the user first clicks on the icon, there's 10 seconds of black screen before the first screen of my app appears. At least this happens on older Android devices. The delay is only a second or two on newer devices. I know this question has been asked before:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/764981
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4035208#4035208
    http://zehfernando.com/2011/a-mobile-air-application-post-mortem/
    But I haven't been able to find an answer that's worked for me. I've tried a a preloader and I've found that even loading the tiniest app takes around 10 seconds. This is how long it took me to load an app that was just a single frame with a simple rectangle image in it. From what I've read, the issue is that the Android device is loading the AIR runtime, and this takes time - no matter how small the actual app is. I should add that I'm using captive runtime.
    I'm OK with the performance on new Android devices but, as far as I can tell, Android is so fragmented that many people are still running older devices and OS versions. So, I'd like to provide a good user experience on older devices. I think a ten second wait is just too long and will kill the entire experience for many people.
    Is there any update on this? Does anyone have a solution?
    If I can't improve the loading time, I think I'll try to only make the app available for newer devices.
    I've heard people taking about creating 'native wrapper' and somehow embedding their swf file in native code that has a loading screen. Has anyone got something like this work? I'm currently reading up on Android splash screens in native code. They seem relatively simple to create. I hope I can somehow embed my swf in a native program with a splash screen. Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Damian

    Hi Anton,
    Yes, I tried launching an empty project with just one frame and a simple rectange image embedded in it. This also took 10 seconds to load. Yes, I'm using AIR 4.0 as well. As far as I can tell, the issue is AIR itself is taking time to load onto the device - and this is independent of what I put in my program. I think I have three options:
    1. learn to live with the delay
    2. decide it's too long and not support older Android devices with my app
    3. figure out if I can embed my swf in a "native wrapper" as suggested in one of my original three links.
    I'm hoping to do 3, but I don't know if it's possible.

  • Reduce the file size of the spotify ipad/iphone install to speed up load times

    i love spotify, i do, but over the last few months, it's been taking longer and longer to start. i've also noticed the download size has been slowly increasing. can you folks do some code optimisation to reduce it's install footprint and perhaps then it might take less time to load and i can get to playing music quicker. the increased file size would suggest there are additional features being added, but to no real benefit.it's fast to load on my htc m8s, but can take 30 seconds to load on my ipad mini (model a1432)

    Updated: 2015-08-04Hello and thanks for the feedback!
    Since Spotify developers naturally always try to optimize the app (speed, load up times, etc), I'll refer you to a similar idea about a Spotify Lite version for all mobile apps: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Mobile-Spotify-Lite-Version-for-Mobile-Apps/idi-p/1133920

  • Advice needed in BSO DB loading

    Dear all,
    we have about ten BSO bases every day loaded. And one very big DB, tens millions rows in data file which loaded every week and every 2nd day of the month. And when this big DB is being loaded some other little DBs have some difficulties in loading and calculating (processing time increase dramatically). What can i do to improve situation with little DBs loading - they are not less important than big one.
    Thank you.
    Natalia

    Hi Bocharova,
    Even we had faced a similar issue. When you are loading the big DB, your resources are being utlized more and at the same time , if you process other cubes ( i.e smaller ones) , it effects the performance .Performance depends on the resources avaialbe on your system/server .
    So, request you to test by parallely running lesser cubes at a time ,when your big cubes is running ,and test in all possible permutations and combinations to conclude , how many cubes to be processed at a time ,and which cubes to be run in which order .
    Again to improve performance of little DB's , you need to test in the cases , if it run it parallely with big DB ,and next in isolated manner . Campare ,and then take a call on it .

  • Loading times effect movie performance

    How can I speed up the loading time of my website for viewers so my
    buttons work properly ?
    If you click on the 2nd and 3rd instance of a button on my opening page too quickly,
    which navigate to later parts of the movie, the buttons don't work properly and you
    get a message "error #2004 incomplete load". If you wait 10 or 15 seconds
    (depending on the system) the buttons work properly.
    Will compressing my movie when publishing the .swf speed up loading time for the
    web viewer or just degrade my file  ?
    Thanks to anyone who might have some input on this
    particular question.
    Fred... (fredhughesdesign.com)

    The compress setting in the publish settings is safe to use -- if that is the one you are asking about. It just compresses the size of the swf file with a lossless compression. So that is one thing you can do.
    Another is that you could add a preloader -- some code that doesn't let the site actually start working until the whole thing is loaded. Usually a preloader shows some interesting animation to indicate to the user how long they will have to wait. If you are certain that you content downloads in about 10 or 15 seconds that is probably pretty good.
    If the file gets much bigger than that you might want to look into putting some of the assets into external files and doing dynamic loading.
    To do a short preloader add a frame at the beginning of your timeline and add this code"
    stop();
    this.onEnterFrame=function(){
    var bl:Number=this.getBytesLoaded();
    var bt:Number=this.getBytesTotal();
    var percent:Number=100*bl/bt
    if(bl==bt && bl>40){
    delete this.onEnterFrame;
    this.gotoAndPLay(2);
    You could add some little animated movieclip to that frame which would keep running and provide some visual "eyecandy" while the user waits. But you will want to keep that artwork simple. All the content of frame 1 must download before anything can start running. That will just make it stay on. If you have a lot of components in the library or many other things set to export for actionscript you might also have a long delay.
    Or you might want to do some kind of code to make the animation. Often that will have a smaller footprint.

  • Can this html code be changed to speed up the image load time?

    I found some html that creates a auto running slide show. I've got three images (small image sizes) but it is slow to start up when the page is first opened. http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Site/test.html this is the escaped code:
    <center><img id='imageholder' src='' ></img></center>
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    images = new Array();
    images.push('http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Docs/typewriterprpage.jpg');
    images.push('http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Docs/royalprpage.jpg');
    images.push('http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Docs/Lovetest.jpg');
    var image_index = 0;
    function rotateImage() {
    if (image_index == images.length - 1) { image_index = 0 } else { image_index++ }
    document.getElementById('imageholder').src = images[image_index];
    setInterval('rotateImage()', 5000);
    </script>
    I have a page: http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Site/Resume.html
    that has a rollover image (from OldToad) that has two images about the same file size and located in the same folder on my iDisk as the other slide show images but it seems to load instantly.
    this is the escaped code:
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    <!-- Begin
    loadImage1 = new Image();
    loadImage1.src="http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Docs/typewriterprpage.jpg";
    staticImage1 = new Image();
    staticImage1.src="http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Docs/royalprpage.jpg";
    // End -->
    </script>
    <a href="http://web.mac.com/phelpssculpture/Site/royal.html" onmouseover="image1.src=loadImage1.src;" onmouseout="image1.src=staticImage1.src;">
    <img name="image1" src="http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Docs/royalprpage.jpg" border=0></a>
    Does anyone know if it's possible to improve the html of the slideshow snippet to speed up the initial load time?
    Thanks, David

    Ethmoid:
    There are seven different pages: http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Site/movieroyal_davidphelps.html
    Each link is directed to a different page.
    I created the basic layout on one page and then duplicated the page six times.
    the links are in one text box ( that's why they're lined up well ) and each individual word is activated as a link. I changed the background color of the forward tab to match the color of the main shape and used the send forward or send backward command to get the tabs to look right on each page.
    The only problem with the words being in a single text box is that explorer doesn't render the spacing correctly and they fall off their respective tabs. When I get time I will put each word in it's own text box ( it's not that hard to align them ) so it will render properly in explorer.

  • Adobe Edge Animate JavaScript Coding issues/page load time speeds

    To let you have an idea of my skill set I have a background in animation and design and have been taking classes in web development. My question is about how to create an interactive website that loads various animation depending on the user's choice and current place within the Adobe Edge Animate timeline. The website I developed for a client @ www.goshowpro.com works but loads slower than I want and doesn't format properly on my client's Macbook (I believe he needs to update his browsers but that is something else.)
    So as you can see from looking at my website I used a multitude of HTML files to create my vision of an interactive website based off of a theatrical stage. I know this is not an ideal method. I would prefer to have it all on one page but I am having trouble with my javascript coding. I was wondering if there would be away to expedite my current site's load time and if not if you could look at my NEW coding. (This IS NOT the current coding on the site.)
    if = "hstop" "chomstop" "shomstop" "phomstop"
    {sym.play("hporstart")};
    else = "hconstop" "sconstop" "pconstop"
    {sym.play("cporstart")};
    else = "hserstop" "cserstop" "pserstop"
    {sym.play("sporstart")};
    It looks crappy but I'm trying to learn so don't laugh too much. Thanks again.
    Michael

    Hi, Marlene-
    We currently bundle jQuery 1.7.1 with the Animate runtime.  In order to call fadeOut() on the element newSquare, you would do the following:
    sym.$("newSquare").fadeOut();
    OR
    sym.getSymbol("newSquare").getSymbolElement().fadeOut();
    Hope that helps!

  • Speeding load time of WEB Forms50

    I have created a new Java archive as a subset of class files
    provided in the Oracle archive 'f50web.jar' in an attempt to
    speed up the launch time of an application.
    The new Java archive contains just 160 (the only class files my
    Forms need) of the 600 class files originally in the archive and
    does indeed speed up launch time substantially - down from an
    average of 45 seconds to 25 on a Pentium 160 and from 20 seconds
    to under 5 on our dual-processor NT server.
    However, the displayed Forms now all carry a yellow banner
    across the bottom labelled 'warning - applet running' (to that
    effect). How do I get rid of the banner?
    P.S. Hints for reducing the archive size:
    Full instructions are in the Oracle document 'Tuning
    Developer/2000 Application performance on the WEB'. Note that
    the file names in the archive are case sensitive. When you have
    extracted the list of class files to include then the Unix
    command 'cpio' makes an execellent tool to copy a directory
    structure and a subset of the files it contains. 'pkzip' would
    do the job just as well.

    Typically, your budget is around 50k for the first page,
    total including
    all external files. When you add up all the external files
    you have used,
    like images, Flash, external JavaScript, etc., you have 98
    separate HTTP
    requests in that page. Just looking at the headers, you have
    about 80k in
    requests and responses, not even counting the actual files.
    Browsers are limited to just a few simultaneous streams, so
    most of your
    files wind up having to wait until the prior files download.
    Included among your 98 requests, you have these six files
    that each
    individually exceed that total budget:
    headerLinked.swf 2,621,578 bytes
    2007_fishing_video_web.flv 95,989,898 bytes
    2008_aoy_graphic.png 65,582 bytes
    jensen_beach.png 59,105 bytes
    liquid_fire_logo_new.png 142,277 bytes
    DanSchaad.png 379,111 bytes
    Your entire total is 99,816,652 bytes. I've put a complete
    breakdown here:
    http://testing.apptools.com/newsgroup/liquidfire.php
    Files are requested from the server in the order they are
    encountered in
    the source code. They are displayed in the linked page in the
    order in
    which they are requested. You can see that some of the huge
    files are
    requested fairly early in the sequence. That means that those
    files and
    their extended download times are occupying streams and
    preventing other
    files from being downloaded more quickly.
    My suggestion would be to really trim down the content on the
    page. Break
    it up into several pages. Dump the huge Flash movie at the
    top of the
    page. Optimize the four .png's above.
    Gary

  • Recording with audio playback slowed down 65% what speed do I need to speed the video back up to to get it into real time?

    Ive recorded a test video with audio/music playback slowed down 65% what speed do I need to speed the video back up to to get it into "real" time?
    If I'd slowed the audio playback down 50% I would make the video 100% faster.
    If I'd slowed the audio playback down 100% I would make the video 200% faster.
    So its obviously somewhere inbetween speeding up by 100-200%
    Sorry but its melting my brain today and I cant remember the calculation.
    thanks

    hey all
    Thanks for the advise on this. I will explain a little more what am have/am intending to do.
    I have used Audacity to slow the song down (Effect>Change Tempo)
    Audacity will allow me slow the original song down by up to 99% (Or anything in-between up to 3 decimal places)
    Unfortunately I am working to a time restraint of 12 minutes per clip (as my DSLR will only allow up to a 12 minute clip).
    The song at normal speed is 4 minutes long.
    Originally I slowed the audio down by 50% (Making the audio 8 minutes long), lip synced to it using a rasta blaster and recorded the video using my DSLR at 720p 50fps.
    I then imported the video and audio I had been lip syncing to into FCPX.
    I sped up the video by x2 (equivalent to speeding it up 200%)
    Retime>Fast 2X
    Layered the PROPER normal speed audio back over the top and all was fine.
    Test video complete.
    (You can ignore the 65% slowed down audio I mentioned earlier if you like, that was just an example of a slower than 50% audio test)
    Firstly what I really want to do is to be able to slow the AUDIO down as much as possible (But still within the restraints of only being able to adjust FCPX retiming within a whole 1 percentage in the final video edit), but have the AUDIO of the song as near to/under 12 minutes as possible.
    I will then re-record the video again to this new slowed down audio.
    Secondly I will speed up the video from 12 minutes to 4 minutes.
    Thirdly I will layer the correct 100% Normal AUDIO on top.
    The FINISHED video should then look like everyone is wizzing around at high speed but the guitar playing/lyrics look like they are being played/sung at the normal speed.
    Whatever happens (due to the constraints of FCPX) I need the calculations to work so that FCPX is retimed exactly to a whole 1% for the final video to sync up correctly.
    So what I need to know in a nut shell is:-
    What calculation do I use to work out the percentage to slow a 4 minute song down to a 12 minute song?
    What calculation do I use to work out the percentage of how much I need to then speed the 12 minute video up to turn it back into a 4 minute video?
    My mind is melting

  • Long bios load time with gtx970 - maybe need gpu bios update?

    I just installed my gtx 970 and it all runs fine.  However I get a very long bios load time on boot up.  Normally it only takes a second or two with a single beep.  With the 970 though I get the single beep and the bios load screen, but it sits at that screen for a long time, then another beep, waiting, eventually another beep, and after some more waiting windows will start to load.
    My problem is that now I can also no longer get in to the bios. I have tried even plugging in a ps/2 keyboard to see if maybe that could get me in.  The farthest I get after hitting delete to enter is I just end up at a black screen. My mobo has no onboard gpu output, so its not like its trying to go to a monitor I cant see.
    So would any gpu bios updates fix this? I am currently at the latest bios for my board which updated it to a uefi bios.

    Update ME / CPU code

    I am on my 1st Oracle HRMS project and I need urgent help on HOW TO load Time (IN/OUT) Data from a MS Access database which is populated by a Biometric Hand Geometry System.
    And we need to do it in real time as the data inserted in the MS Access Database we need to pull that into Oracle HRMS for Payroll purposes.
    If somebody can help me in this I'll greatly appreciate that.

    Zee,
    Let's go back to your core requirement "load Time (IN/OUT) Data from a MS Access database which is populated by a Biometric Hand Geometry System".
    Questions:
    1. Is this time data to be used to pay a person through Oracle Payroll?
    2. What legislation (country) is this for?
    3. Are you using Oracle Time and Labor (OTL) as the front-end or do you intend to enter the data directly into Oracle Payroll?
