After Effects CS6 won't open: "After Effects warning: An unknown Adobe Player Engine error has occurred. Scripting will be disabled."

I cleared my computer but I managed to get After Effects CS6 back by looking in Windows old on my hard drive, every time I try and open AAE I get this error message "After Effects warning: An unknown Adobe Player Engine error has occurred. Scripting will be disabled."
What should I do?
Thanks.

Does it launch after that error message?
What version of CS6 is it? 11.0.4? If not, try updating to it.
Why not simply reinstall from your original disk or download?

I have CS2 and I use it almost every day.. Today when I tried to launch it, a prompt came up saying my Activation was no longer valid and it closed automatically.  Then when I tried to re-open it, a prompt came up saying "A serious error has occured"  Please re-install the software...  I have no idea where my software is... That was many many years ago?  HELP!!

When you go to the download page, you must do two things:
Download this file: PhSp_CS2_English.exe on the download page.
Use the serial number on the download page in order to install your non-activation copy.
Do not use your old CD or serial number. It no longer works.
If you have Windows 7, the advice is to turn off UAC and run the installer as Administrator.

  • Premiere (and After Effects) CS6 won't open anymore!

         Hi everyone,
Recently, I've been working on a project which required a dynamic link between After Effects and Premiere CS6 on my MacBook Pro, which runs OSX Mountain Lion. Everything worked great until yesterday, when I got an error message that said something along the lines of "Adobe Premiere has encountered an error. We will try to save your project and restart Premiere again".
I re-opened Premiere, and although the same thing happened again a few times, I was finally able to get back to my project. Today, however, the same message appeared when I opened it again. I went through the same routine again, opening it and then exiting out, but this time, it didn't work.
Not only is Premiere not opening, it is no longer even showing the error message. It simply goes to the loading screen and the the infamous "Spinning Beach Ball of Death" appears. I've force quit multiple times and re-started my computer with every application closed. I've also relaunched Finder (I honestly don't think that would help, but I tried anyways) - still, the loading sign freezes and the SBBOD appears again.
Instead of sitting there trying to fix it and wasting my time, I tried opening After Effects to at least work on the linked compositions that were in my Premiere project. I then get this message before After Effects force quits automatically:
"Last log message was: <140735255806336> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 3
Generating crash log, which may take a few minutes."
So, apparently this has something to do with my GPU or CPU? I'm not really that educated when it comes to GPUs, so I'm not sure what to do now. I have a CUDA Driver Version 5.5.47 on my computer (I'm not entirely sure how it got there in the first place...), and System Preferences has been notifying me that it needs to be updated. I heard somewhere, on a different forum, that this may have something to do with it, so I downloaded what I thought was a newer version of the driver, although this just turned out to be the same version (5.5.47) that I already have (which seems to be the newest one).
So, what do you think I should do? Is there something very specific that should be done? Does it have something to do with this CUDA thing? Is the best option to just uninstall and then reinstall?
If you have any ideas, let me know!
    Thank you!

Thank you so much, Mr. Curtis! I'm not sure exactly how that worked, but it allowed me to get back on both AE and Premiere Pro. 10 points to you!
Also, for the  other people that may have similar problems and are viewing this forum, definitely try this out. Listen to Jim's advice, don't use the most recent version (which is currectly 5.5.47) - instead try a slightly older one. The one I had installed was version 5.5.24.
Once again, thank you! You saved my project!

  • After Effects Cs6 Won't Open. Error Code: 16

I use After Effects Cs6 on a daily basis but now when i try opening the program, an error window pops up saying that i need to uninstall and reinstall the program but i don't want to lose all my plugins for the program. What do i do?

...i don't want to lose all my plugins for the program. What do i do?
First thing, make certain you actually have to reinstall.  For example, what happens if you just turn off the computer, go have a cup of coffee, then turn it back on, launch AE and open a project file?  Or if you mess with your multiprocessing settings, and double-check the drivers for your third-party card?
    No Joy?
Write down all the pulgins you installed.  Gather all the applicable installers.  Follow Mylenium's advice on the Cleaner Tool when uninstalling, then bite the bullet and reinstall the plugins.  It's a Right Royal Pain, but you'll have to do it.  Sorry, no shortcuts here.

  • After Effects CS6 Won't Launch After Mavericks Upgrade.

    Hi All,
I have seen a few posts regarding this and have scoured the web for few hours looking for answers. So far all I have found are patches from Adobe and their asking that we uninstall and reinstall the app.
None of this has worked so far.
In fact I've gone from an error of "Can't use this version" to adding the patches to now getting "After Effects Cannot Be Opened Because Of A Problem". It goes on to add this...
Check with the developer to make sure Adobe After Effects CS6 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.
Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
    Two questions:
    1. Is there a fix for this?
    2. If not, how can I revert back to 10.8 without losing everything.

Ok, I found one more article talking about upgrading to 11.3 upgrade instead of 11.4(latest). Finaly worked. Hope this helps someone else, this was painful.

  • CS6 won't open after download..

I just downloaded the cs6 Beta, and it won't open.. a pop up states * Archive Verification Failed * does it not work any more?

Sorry you are having trouble. For starters, did you download it from here? http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/photoshopcs6/
Did fail upon installation or launch?
Try downloading it again. When you download the program, compare the file size to see if you got it all.
Are you on Mac or PC? Let us know what happens.

  • Indesign CS6 won't open after Photoshop CS6.

Indesign was working like a charm, then I had to install Photoshop which installed without error, since then whenever i launch indesign the splash screen comes up and gets as far as "setting up service registry" and then just disapears. It works with other users on the PC and I have tried creating a new profile for the user without any joy.
The following error is in the event log:

    Any help would be appreciated.

The program has been uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem is still there. I was considering running the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, and reinstalling, However from the documentation it looks as though it is for installation issue? Would it be of any help or is there a better tool to use to remove all traces of indesign from the PC/Registry? so i can reinstall?
As This issue was caused by installing photoshop is there any mileage with uninstalling both then reinstalling them?

  • InDesign CS6 won't open after migration to a new iMac.  Adobe App Mgr calls it a "Trial" version?

I just migrated my entire contents from one Mac to  new iMac.  I was able to open and use InDesign for the first day or so, but now when I do, The Adobe Application Manager tells me the version I have is a "Trial" version.  I am not likely to be transferring to CC version, so within that limitation (Staying with CS6) how do I correct this issue, so I can use the software I paid for?

Changed order of scratch disks for PS CS6 and now can't open PS.  Get the following messages: Could not open a scratch file because the disk is not available.  Followed by : Could not initialize PS because the disk is not available.  Everything works.  Reinstalled PS CS6 and get the same message.

Don't trash all the preferences.  You can reach just the preferences for scratch disks by pressing and holding Control - Alt during a Photoshop cold startup.  If you get the keys down quickly enough you should see this dialog:

  • "An error has occurred" - won't share to youtube

    hi,
I have successfully done this several times in the past, but now my movies won't load to youtube. It just says, "alert- an error has occurred." I did software update to imovie '09 hoping that would fix the problem, even created a new test project, same result. Advice???

If all else fails, this is generally a fail safe method:
Export your movies to QuickTime from iMovie
You then have a choice in which codec to use (mpeg4/h.264 etc) which can influence file sizes and a number of other settings you can fiddle with.
I started doing this before iMovie had the capability of exporting in HD and this method has never failed.
Sure it's an extra step or two but it works.
Once you rpoject has been exported, log into your YouTube account from your web browser and upload from there. If you have more than one movie, just queue them and upload over night.
    Regards, Zyfert

    Todd,
Thank you so much for your help!
I am trying to follow your advice and install AE CS6 through the Creative Cloud application, but it seems that I can only install AE CC through the Creative Cloud application.
The text on this page ( http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-cc-and-cs6-apps.html ) seems to indicate that I can choose a version to download, but when I navigate to the linked download page ( https://creative.adobe.com/products/aftereffects ), I am not given the option to choose which version to download. I can only download AE CC through Creative Cloud.
Below is a screencap of what I see when I am on the download page - this differs from the screencap shown as an example on the page instructing me to go there.
