Is this normal? Should I be worried? Is my GPU defective?
My specs:

Thanks to all in advanced.

It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes and i tried zapping the PRAM and it still happens!

    Hi rhaughan,
I see that you have concerns about your operating temperature of your computer while using resource-heavy applications such as gaming applications. I have an article that will address some of the concerns you have mentioned:
Mac notebooks: Operating temperature - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT201640
While there are third-party utilities that measure the temperature of a notebook computer, it is important to understand that these utilities are not measuring the external case temperature. The actual case temperature is much lower. Never use third-party applications to diagnose possible hardware issues—instead, contact Apple or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Cannot get iPad 2 charged beyond 1%.  All charging ports tried: AC adapter(s), USB 2 port on MacBook Pro. ITunes shows iPad only for a few seconds. iPad displays alternately: Apple logo, battery w/slim red band, then battery w/1% charged information. How can I get it to charge beyond 1% so I can proceed to troubleshoot?

I have had your exact problem with my old 3GS, now I cannot even get it to turn on, I still see that it is supposed to be charging though, but it never charges any so it seems.
I replaced the Lower Dock Connector Assembly back when it still charged while hooked to my PC, and it found it made no real difference.

At this point I am not sure if I should replace the battery and hope for the best, or just junk the phone, I cannot really sell it if I cannot reset it...

After applying update my apple tv2 will randomly go to a black screen that lasts for a few seconds. When it gets back to normal after a few seconds it acts like the video never stopped since its farther along in the timeline. This happens with all video content wether its from Netflix or streaming from my iTunes library

You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds. If that doesn't help try using another HDMI cable.

  • MacBook Pro frozen on startup screen with progress bar and then it turns off

    Hello, I have a MacBook Pro 15" of early 2012 with a i5 Intel, 4GB of RAM  and a  500 GB HD.
I was installing the new suit of Adobe, when suddenly my Mac got frozen, vertical coloured lines appeared and the image on screen went distorted. I had to reboot the Mac by holding the power button until the screen turned off and when I turned it on, the lines appeared again and it itself automatically rebooted. Then the screen (now with no vertical lines) got frozen on the startup grey screen with the apple logo and the spinning wheel for hours with no response.
I tried to follow the steps of the official mac forums like verifying the HD with CMD+R and then Disk Utility, it says everything's fine; the same happens with CMD+S, no errors. I reinstalled Mavericks with the same CMD+R. I already reset the PRAM, SMC  and performed a Safe Boot staring up in Single user mode and Verbose Mode and nothing, the same startup screen. I made too thins thing of holding shift until the progress bar appeared.  Three days later (Today) I repeated the steps again and finally the verbose mode. Now, when I turn it on, the startup screen appears again (Apple Log and spinning wheel) with a progress bar. When it completes, the Mac turn itself off.
if you can help me, please. I don't know what else to do. The last thing is technical service.

  • MacBook Pro 15-inch mid-2012 model or 15-inch retina display?

    Hi!
    I've decided to buy a 2012-model 15-inch MacBook pro.
    1. I'd like to know which one would be a better choice- MacBook pro regular model or the retina display one?
    2. The retina display model does not have any Ethernet port. Can I use a third-party USB 2 to Ethernet adapter? Will it work?
    3. I don't live in the US or canada. My city has an apple premium reseller. If I buy the notebook from the reseller, will I be able to upgrade to mountain lion free of cost? I ask this because some dudes have told me that I may not be able to upgrade gratis.
I'd highly appreciate your opinions and suggestions. Thanks in anticipation

I get confused a bit by this "you can't upgrade it arguement so buy a model that you can upgrade". Seriously, how many people do you think pull old parts out of a notebook (as a percentage of total sales) and replace then with higher capacity or more memory parts? I doubt it is even 1%, yet many who write here are concerned that they'll get "stuck" with the technology they bought.
My 5 year old Core 2 Duo recently had a system board failure. It wasn't covered by the extended warranty so I had the HDD removed and ordered a new computer. I doubt it made sense to put a new system board in when the rest of the computer (HDD, RAM, Display, processor) could all be next (remember they are all 5 years old too).
They way I deal with the obsolecence issue is to buy a bit more power, storage and memory than I need today and keep the same computer for the 4 - 5 year period I'll use it. After that, Apple doesn't have parts for it anyway.
So, on my last notebook, I had 120 GB of storage (it is about 1/3 ful), 8GB of ram and a 2.3 Core 2 Duo processor. For what I do, it had plenty of performance. My new order is a 2.6/16MB/256SSD model. More than I need today and about right for what I'll need tomorrow. I could have saved $600.00 by buying the base non retina model, but to upgrade a new MBP from the base specification to what I've ordered (aftermarket stuff) would likely be more than $600.00. So what would be the point?
My advice, spec what you think you'll need over the life of your new computer and buy it. If it needs a repair, unless you are an expert or someone who doesn't mind the risk of a self repair, you'll be happier and will have less hassle.

  • Macbook Pro 2013 HDMI Monitor Goes Black for a few seconds

So I purchased a brand new Macbook Pro 2013 (specs below) and for the entire time I have been using it with a BenQ RL2455 via HDMI with no problems at all. Recently though I have started to experience problems between the computer and the monitor. There is no particular sequence as to when this will happen but the monitor screen just goes completely black for a couple of seconds, and then goes back to normal.
There is nothing to suggest that the monitor is being disconnected from the mac, as it still detects the fact that the two are still connected. I have followed each cable back to the source and they all seem to be properly connected.
As you can imagine, this is very annoying and inconvenient, and it would be much appreciated if anyone knows any solutions to this. I just thought i'd see if there was anything i could do before i contacted apple, just incase i was being a total idiot and missing something obvious!
    Thanks!
    Specs:

I've noticed my HDMI monitor comes up blank on reboot sometimes. Using a late 2013 MBP Retina 13" for a couple of days now.

  • Is this Internal Harddrive compatible with my Macbook Pro 13 inch (Mid-2012) model?

Seagate Momentus 500 GB Laptop Internal Hard Drive (ST500LT012)
    http://www.flipkart.com/seagate-momentus-500-gb-laptop-internal-hard-drive-st500 lt012/p/itmdhyu4weuzqtzq
I purchased this internal disk. I need to know if this will be compatible. Only then I would know if its Okay to use or should I exchange it. I need you guys to tell me.. Thanks for your help :-)

An SSD replaces your hard drive. Unfortunately they are kind of small in comparison, so you may need to stick with a hard drive. A SSD uses flash memory like a USB drive, except in place of your hard drive. The speed increase is phenominal. This will replace your drive so you will need to reload OS X which is easy thanks to Internet Recovery.
Kingston makes a 64GB model that is decent, I have one in an older original MacBook and it feels so much snappier. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139949
         http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226318
They vary in all different capacities and speeds. Not all SSD's are created equal.
Follow the instructions in your MacBooks manual to upgrade the drive.
You will need a 2.5 inch SATAIII SSD if you choose to go that way.
Between the SSD and the RAM upgrade you have a beast of a machine.

If this started happening without your having made any changes and without a warning of low disk space, then it's likely that the startup drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

  • After sleep, retina MacBook Pro (Mid 2014) does not recognize usb connected mouse movement

After sleep, retina MacBook Pro (Mid 2014, on 10.9.4) does not recognize usb connected mouse movement. I have tried a generic usb mouse and my Razer Deathadder usb mouse. Both mice work before sleep; but after sleep, the computer no longer recognizes mouse movement while still recognizing the mouse buttons when pressed. Any idea why this is occurring?

  • MacBook Pro 13 inch (mid 2012) v MacBook Pro 15 inch (mid 2014) for After Effects and Premiere

    Hi everyone,
I'm interested in working with After Effects CS6 and Premiere CS6 probably creating quite heavily layered files and experimenting with and combining effects. (I also work with Photoshop and Illustrator.)
My workplace allows me to use a 2.5 GHz Intel Dual Core i5 / MacBook Pro 13 inch (mid 2012, non retina) with hard disk and integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 4000 512MB). I understand this Mac can be maxed out at 16GB of RAM. (Official Apple specs I realise say 8GB RAM is the max for this computer but I've looked into this thoroughly and have confirmed that 16GB is in fact possible.)
I'm considering purchasing one of the new Haswell based MacBook Pro (mid 2014) models for myself.
If I do, I'll get the retina 15 inch / Intel Quad Core i7 / 16GB RAM / Intel Iris Pro Graphics / NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M / 1TB Flash Storage.
I realise there is a big difference between these two machines in terms of their specs - the 15 inch with the dedicated GPU will be far more suited to motion graphics work than the lower spec machine with integrated graphics card.
Currently, my understanding is that After Effects CS6 and Premiere CS6 do not support the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M but from research on the net I believe it's possible to add this video card to the list of supported cards within the respective applications, forcing them to recognise and use it.
Having read about the upcoming Broadwell chip, which I think may be capable of supporting 32GB RAM (possibly coming in Q2 2015 from the various websites I've visited) I wonder if it is worth holding off my purchase, and maxing out my older 13 inch laptop in order to run After Effects and Premiere for the time being.
If I waited for Broadwell based 15 inch MacBooks I think its likely they'll be expandable to 32GB RAM, making the computer a better long term investment.
eg if Adobe increase minimum/recommended memory requirements for their software in the next few years. While I don't know for sure this will happen, it does seem quite likely at some stage. The 2014 15 inch MacBook - while an excellent computer at the moment - could potentially be slightly limited with regard to future Adobe software releases as its max RAM is 16GB.
I realise I could potentially look at a high end iMac if memory is a concern, but I prefer the portability of a laptop so I'm restricting myself to portable options for the moment.
    What I'm wondering is -
If I install the 13 inch 2.5GHz i5 laptop with 16GB RAM as is possible, how would it perform when running After Effects and Premiere? It currently has 4GB and it very quickly runs out of memory meaning playback of goes very slowly when previewing complex files in the timeline. This necessitates rendering of small test sections of the timeline to see it at the correct frame rate. Would the move from 4GB RAM to 16GB RAM give me a noticeable improvement in this regard? If so then this is tempting as I don't have to pay for it - I think my workplace will cover the cost of extra RAM. And then I can wait till next year to buy my own high end laptop.
The 15 inch 2.8GHz i7 quad processor has Iris Pro and dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT750M with 2GB RAM. I would be paying the full cost myself.
I realise rendering would be faster with this Mac but would I see a noticeable improvement over the maxed out 13 inch laptop when previewing multi layered After Effects and Premiere compositions / sequences within the timeline? I like the idea of being able to preview footage in real time as I'm editing as it saves time and I think it makes the process easier generally.
Any thoughts welcome and thanks very much in advance for your time and advice.
    Kind regards,
    John

"It currently has 4GB and it very quickly runs out of memory meaning playback of goes very slowly when previewing complex files in the timeline."
"In this case yes, I can most certainly see a performance increase as your machine is still not too old and a RAM increase will help it for sure I just can't tell you by how much.
I own the same machine as yours (except for mine having 2.9ghz and i7, and 8GB of ram) so I think it's safe to say for me that the RAM increase will help you for sure."
That statement of mine answers your question you just asked

And update to the latest version 10.8.4 system after updating the system I have the problem appeared to take off the device and stops at the apple logo for about 5 minutes and then enters the desktop How can I solve this problem and thank you

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged after the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • My macbook pro runs slow, iTunes videos keep stuttering. Nothing has worked to solve this issue. Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2012 2.5GHz i5 with 8GB RAM upgrade.

    Hello everyone.
I have been having this issue for a few months now and nothing works to resolve it. The biggest issue is that iTunes videos constantly stutter ever few seconds, the audio portion of the video is not effected. The most I have open at once is Safari, Skype, and iTunes, and possibly Open Office. Videos will even stutter with nothing else open other than iTunes. At times it sounds like the computer is running something in the background from hard drive noise.
I even upgraded the RAM to 8GB and it still has this problem! Nothing looks wrong in Activity Monitor other than occasionally the memory usage spikes up to 6GB, but even then the memory pressure graph is green. I dont understand how these non-intensive programs can use that much. The hard drive is barely 1/3 full.
Please help with a solution as nothing has worked so far. Thanks!

  • MacBook Pro 15'' retina mid-2012 - "ghosting"

Hello, I need your help to solve the following problem.
I have a MacBook Pro 15’’ retina mid-2012, purchased in August 2012, and in the last 6 months I had attended the "ghosting" (aka “burn in”) phenomena on my computer monitor, which is getting worse every day. With just a few minutes of high-contrast image exposure, followed by a gray background light, we can clearly see the persistence of previous image on the monitor.
At the beginning I never saw this phenomenon as a computer problem, but a fatigue phenomenon in the result of an intense use.
In the last 6 months, we can clearly see that this phenomenon is a serious anomaly in the computer monitor which has been aggravating.
It should be noted that I already have communicated this problem to Apple Portugal after the warranty expired, so they tell me that they can´t/don´t have to do anything about it.
I just wanted to share with you this, because I consider this anomaly a manufacturing defect that already was in the computer, and that this should be repaired by the brand without any extra cost to the client.
This computer is the top of the range brand, so is not supposed to have an anomaly as serious as the one I just registered.

  • Duo Displays Problem on MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) Resolution 2560x1440 and 1280x800, Sometime 2560x1440 is blank screen and must restart to fixed it

    Dear all,
I found some problems for using Duo Displays with MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) display and Samsung UHD Display (U28D590). I use resolution on my macbook is 1280x800, Samsung UHD Display is 2560x1440 And Connect with Display port to mini display port.
But I use sometime found always blank screen on Samsung Display and I tried to unplug mini display port and plug it again but it is not working until I shutdown and restart my macbook pro, my display back to working.
I want to fix this problem because it is very trouble for my working a lot.
    Thank you very much
    Phot

The symptoms I'm getting now, and I'm not sure if they're any different, suggest that for some reason Mountain Lion thinks my display resolution is higher than what it is, as wether I'm turning AirPlay on or off, it keeps changing it (on the MacBook) to what looks like maybe 1080p.
