After updating to windows 8.1 the games I played wont start

Good day,
Im new to this stuff, i recently updated my windows 8 to 8.1. After updating the game that i was playing works just fine. After a few minutes an update was done on something(i dont know what that was) Then I closed the game becuase it froze or something.
then when i open it again, it says " Rome: Total War failed to find DirectX 9, which is required for the game to run. Please reinstall directx"
After that I tried to open another game that i was playing (The Asian Dynasties:Age of empire 3). A window pops up and says
"Age of Empires III requires at least a 64 MB video card. This computer appears to have a 0 MB video card. If you wish to upgrade your computer, please contact your computer manufacturer for any necessary assistance.
System information: 1900 MHz, 3968 MB, 0 MB (vendorID 8086, deviceID 166)"
There where two choices buttons in the window one says "attempt to run" and the other says "exit game"
So i selected attempt to run then it says that "Initialization failed. Direct 3d initialization failed" and there list of possible causes to it.
These two games work perfectly fine before i updated my laptop to windows 8.1. I tried measures to correct the problem on Rome total war like installing a directx package which it said to have installed previous versions of directx's but the game wont still
work. i also tried troubleshooting it all it does is change its compatibility then it still says that directx 9 is missing. i read more furoms but i cant find a right answer.

In your situation, I think you should make sure that you have the latest version of the Age of Empires III software, just as the article talks about:

Besides, after upgrade to Windows 8.1, I suggest to upgrade the graphic card driver accordingly from the official site of graphic card manufacturer. Meanwhile, download the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer(also for Windows 8.1) from the site below:

I don't see anything specific to your webcam issue but there are a number of Windows 8.1 related drivers listed on the Support site.

After updating to windows 8.1 iTunes will not play video

I recently updated to Windows 8.1 but since i have my iTunes will not play video i previously downloaded from the iTunes store. The video will play in QuickTime without issue though, please help

sorry it's not my apple id. it's my icloud email/account. after i updated to ios 8.1.2 my icloud acct on my phone is wrong. it's using my old college email address instead of my current icloud account email. my old college email address *used* to be my apple id, but i changed my apple id to my gmail account a few months back. anyway i can't "sign out" or delete the icloud account bc it thinks my college email address is my icloud account and it keeps asking for the password. so i'll type in the current password for my icloud account and it says it's wrong and i need to retry or change the password, which i've already done twice and nothing changes. probably bc its asking for the password associated with the college email address it thinks is my icloud acct.
i can access icloud on my desktop without a problem... make any sense? do i have to restore my phone now or is there a solution? i've wasted the last 2 days trying to figure this out. i can't send or receive emails on my iphone bc of this. which really ***** for work.

Itunes does not launch after updating to Windows 8.1. I've tried every suggestion I can find on web (reinstall, copy files from other directories, change permissions, etc.). Nothing works. If your XP computer was updated, then it should work. Again, the links I posted earlier contain the current USB drivers for the iPhone and Windows.

You can refer to this blog, and try to roll back to the older version of network adapter driver to check the results. Other suggestions can also be used to troubleshoot your issue.

Meanwhile, please check with the manufacturer of your router to update the firmware.
If the issue persists, please help to collect following information for further research:
1) Enable RAS Tracing on the client.
- Over an Administrative command prompt.
- C:\> netsh ras set tracing * enabled
2) On the client enable the following log as well:
- Over an Administrative command prompt.
- C:\> netsh trace start scenario=netconnection capture=yes tracefile=c:\net.etl
3) Now, turn off Wireless adapter on the client and Turn it back ON for making it to authenticate. Once it fails to connect to the Wireless network, proceed to the next step.
4) Disable RAS Tracing on the client.
- Over an Administrative command prompt.
- C:\> netsh ras set tracing * disabled
5) On the client disable the following log as well:
- Over an Administrative command prompt.
- C:\> netsh trace stop
6) Please provide the following files:
From the Client:
a) ZIP folder of C:\Windows\Tracing
b) C:\Net.etl and C:\Net.cab
Upload these files in SkyDrive and post back the shared link.

occasionally my desktop become black for 1-2 seconds and the background disappears.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the card reader for your notebook is no longer working after updating to Windows 8.1.
You're probably right that it's a driver issue, however just like you I don't know which card reader you're using either.
Can you please tell me which notebook you have? For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
It would also help if you could tell me the Hardware ID for the card reader. Here's how you find it:
Press Windows Key + X
Click Device Manager
Click View at the top and select Show hidden devices.
You will most likely find the card reader listed under Other devices as an Unknown device.
Right click on it and select Properties.
Select the Details tab.
Change the drop down menu to Hardware Ids.
Note down the first ID in the list (as you'll see they're all pretty much the same regarding the Ven_ and Dev_ numbers which is all I need).
Once you've provided this info I should be able to find the drivers for you.

Black screen after updating to windows 8.1

After updating to windows 8.1 on my HP Spectre ONE 23-e010 All-in-One Desktop PC my PC wont turn on properly all i get is beep and a black screen ... I understand that after doing the Windows 8.1 update you are not able to access your computer and you are inquiring as to how to unistall it. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8), which wil walk you through how to restore your computer back to a point in time before you ran the update. This will in essence reverse the update for you.
***This will not affect your personal files it will only restore your computer's operating system back to before the update.

I haw Lenovo ideapad s310 with Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter
driver version is (date 10/17/2013 / version 10.0.0.270 from atheros.cz)
After update my Windows 8 to 8.1 the wifi is turned off and i don't know haw it turn on.
Troubleshoot (Windows network diagnostic) says that rewriting is alright need to use switch on the front side of the computer or use function keys.
I don't haw any switch and the Fn+F5 don't helps. I tried to install new driver, metered connection is off.
I downloaded every update included hidden updates. in bios wifi is on.
Please help me!

What did the F5 key do before? According to your manual in the Action Keys list (page 32-33), that key wasn't tied to anything unless its just for page refresh.
If a Windows update breaks something, the best way I know to correct the problem is to uninstall that update.
OR
You can revert Windows back to an earlier state before the update with a Restore Point provided you didn't turn off that feature. If for some reason it is turned off, you will not be able to revert to that point as one was not created.
After the restore, only install one windows update at a time until you find the culprit and uninstall it. This way you have the other updates installed. YES this can be a long process.

When I go to the support page and request my apple ID, it takes me in circles to reset my password but never tells me my ID. HELP!
