After "upgrading" to new firefox none of my bookmarks are in new bookmarks help topics tell me how to import from another browser but not from previous version of firefox. Another problem is my anti virus ( most up to date) is apparently not compatible with 4.0 liked the old firefox would never have "upgraded" had I known my anti virus wouldn't work. Can I get old version back

Check with Kaspersky as to what versions of Firefox their programs are compatible with. It is up to Kaspersky to keep their stuff up to date as Mozilla releases new versions of Firefox. And if they are unwilling or incapable of doing it, they should inform their customers of such and maybe refund their customers instead of stringing them along.

Add bookmarks to favorites imported from another browser

I've imported my Favorites/Bookmarks from Google Chrome into Firefox. How can I add new Firefox bookmarks to my imported Chrome Favorites folders, rather than the standard Firefox Bookmark menu?:

How did you import the bookmarks? If you simply imported them from HTML, they should be just like normal bookmarks, and you can add new bookmarks using the bookmarks library window.

My bookmarks have vanished. I want to re-import from Safari. But the "Import" command in the File menu is not available. What's up?

Firefox works fine. However, my bookmarks toolbar is marked as <empty>. Didn't used to be. I have no idea where they've gone.
So rather than dwell on the loss, I thought I'd move ahead by importing the bookmarks I have in Safari over to Firefox. No luck, the "import" command on the File menu is de-highlighted. I cannot select it.

HT5958 The latest update has already caused problems, Final Cut can't find my old projects and events to update. Can anyone offer any advise?

On update Final cut updated some of my projects and events bringing them into the new interface. I had older projects that I didn't want visible before the update in folders labled 'Final Cut Events (Hidden)'. The update couldn't see these and since I can't find a way of bringing them into Final cut 10.1.
Every attempt ends with a message indicating that no projects can be found.
Any advise welcome.

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.
* Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
* Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

What version of Windows and Office is it? I had this issue with an older version of office and Windows XP. Basically, MS are using their browser (IE) because it's their software (MS Office). If you go to options in MS word though, you should be able to find an option to set the default browser to open links.

Hotsync incomplete after Upgrading to New Sprint 1.07 firmware.

I just upgraded my Sprint Centro to the newer software Centro- 1.07 SPNT.
While upgrading, I also upgraded HotSync Manager to 7.0.2 and to the newer Palm Desktop by Access v6.2.2
The Hotsync after installing the new firmware, was incomplete. I use Datebk6 and that hung up the Hotsync and never installed.
Also, all my IM's are missing as are my favorites for the Web application and my telephone favorites buttons.
Has anyone else had this happen? and how can I retrieve the missing data.

What was the previous version of Palm desktop you were using?
You could try the following to see if you can recover the data. Find the userfolder in c-program files-palm. Copy that folder to the PC desktop, "clean" uninstall the current version of Palm desktop, re-install the previous version of Palm desktop and then copy and paste the username folder into the palm folder in program files. This may work. When you upgraded to Palm desktop 6.2, it changed the location of the data files to my documents-palm OS desktop. The files from the older version of Palm desktop are stored in program files-palm on the c drive. Those files may be intact and recoverable. Palm desktop 6.2 makes a copy of that data and creates the new location in my documents.

In Firefox the bookmarks are saved in a database file called places.sqlite in the profile folder. If you have got this file from the external hard drive you can restore the bookmarks by copying this file to your current profile folder. Thanks petermac87...but for some reason, the only purchases showing are OS. So assuming iPhoto is in Mountain Lion, I was hoping to look under Hidden Items there as you suggested, but there is no option for that. Only option is to download Mountain Lion again, not iPhoto specifically. Any ideas welcome!

Unfortunately not. Lion has made many adjustments to the previous system. Try opening your pdfs in keynote.

Doesn't work Steve. I think it is an issue with Preview being sandboxed (check the sandbox column in Activity Monitor: Preview = Yes). Sandboxed apps restrict file access to those the user has explicitly selected. My theory is that this causes the unfortunate side effect of bookmarked or linked PDFs not working. A simple test: open a file with bookmarks, manually open the bookmarked file and then select the bookmark in the first file - it should open with no complaints about permissions (which leads to a weak workaround: open all the PDFs you intend to work with!).
