After upgrading to iOS5.1 on iPad I cannot upgrade apps

Really frustrated, I have an iPad 1 and have been using it very hapily for over a year.
I foolishly decided to upgrade to ios5, and since then have nothing but problems.
Apps that I have downloaded from the AppStore as free trials work, but when i try to upgrade to the full (paid) version, they just have the thinking spinning circle on the screen, and these are new apps/games since the upgrade and I dont even get the prompt for my ID and password coming up

Download and install any free app. That should do it.

Having the same issue here. I unfortunately purchased a book on iTunes, then went to download iBooks, but can't due to their recent update/upgrade. My kids iTouchs are all 6.1.5 , So I'm guessing that if you did not have iBooks previously purchased that you are now S.O.L. if you want to read a book on your iPod??
I am rather frustrated that I spent money on a book that they can't read.
Is there another app that will let them read it?

There are a number of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.
Some posts are suggesting that you if you go into the Purchased tab in the App Store app you might be able to update the apps from there, though you will need to scroll through the list to find those with updates and individually update them.

After upgrade to iOS5.0.1, most of my apps have no more sound.

My apps worked fine with iOS5 but after the upgrade to 5.0.1, all sounds and music associated with my apps have disappeared. The videos and iPod work fine so that means there's nothing wrong with my iPad. The same apps on my iPhone work fine. Is there a reason for this?

Try "resetting" the device...
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

Help! I've just upgraded to iOS5 and lost all my contacts, app, music etc.

For the past few years I've known I need to upgrade to a new mac. My old one was a old mac mini (pre Intel).
So I just bought a new mac mini and tried connecting my iPhone to it.
I allowed it to do the upgrade to iOS5 (my old mac wouldn't allow me to upgrade and it can't even upgrade iTunes).
As soon as it upgraded I realised I've lost everything!
Not a problem I thought - I can retrieve the backup from the old mac. However, when I plug in the iPhone to the old mac I get a message that this is a newer version of iOS and therefore iTunes needs to be upgraded. But I haven't been able to upgrade iTunes on the old mac for a few years.
So iTunes won't even acknowledge that there is an iPhone plugged in to it.
Looking on forums people say just connect to iCloud and all your contacts will be there. I don't have an iCloud account - there was no such thing as iCloud on my old mac.
This really is awful.

A quick update : The iPhone wasn't actaully mine - it was my girlfriends. She is now furious at me for losing all her data. I managed to recover some of the contacts by copying them across from the SIM but it appears that the most important thing was an app - a password keeper that held all the information for accessing all of our bank accounts.
There must be somethng I can do?

I get the following message when I sync my iPad "iTunes cannot sync apps on iPad as apps cannot be determined" How do I fix this?

My iPad backs-up on my computer no problem but I get the following message and my apps will not sync. " iTunes cannot sync apps because the apps insatlled on the ipad could not be determined". Can anyone help me to fix this issue?

Did you try and choose Restart instead? You may need to uninstall and re-install it using the instructions in this Apple support document.

is it only avaliable in limited countries ?? i have the official ios2 version 5.0 from itunes.

I don't totally understand what you are trying to do. Do you have an Apple ID and have you registered a valid credit card with iTunes?

Just upgraded to iOS5 on iPad. Music app and mail does not work properly.

Just upgraded iPad2 to iOS5. Music app does not work properly. When I select a song to play, it plays a different song. Sometimes, it just stops playing songs, other times, it shuffles songs.
Not sure whats going on.
Worked fine using iOS4.3.5.
Synced the iPad to iCloud. enabled mail. It shows under settings that the iCloud mail is setup, but the mail does not appear in the mail app. Not sure whats happening with these functions on iOS5.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

I only recently upgraded from iOS5 to iOS6 and now my apps are crashing constantly and my email won't load

I had put off upgrading my iPhone 4 to the iOS6 and only gave in to it about a week ago when I thought that the trouble I was having with a select few apps was because of my outdated operating system. Now, I'm regretting it terribly and would either like to know how to revert back to iOS5 or fix this irritating as all **** and unproductive system. I had backed up my phone right before upgrading thinking that that way, I could just restore to it if I didn't like iOS6, but now I'm seeing that restoring to that point does not in fact restore firmware.
Now I have a maps app that won't help me plan through public transit.
An email app that will not update my inbox or any box even though it falslely says it checked and there was simply nothing new.
Every other app I have crashes constantly.
When I turn on the iPod/music function, there's an extended delay before the music will actually start playing.
The shuffle function is messed up (if I'm playing a tracklist of 38 songs, it will only shuffle a few of them and just keep looping through those few tracks).

My contract is almost up and I was hoping that all the negative stuff I had heard about iOS6 would have been resolved by now so that I could confidently by the next iPhone, but at this rate, I'll be ditching Apple's phone entirely.

Basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Apple is disable on ipad and cannot download apps

I have no idea if anyone has had this problem but I purchased something on my ipad through itunes and I realized after that the my payment account was linked through paypal throught my checking account. If that makes any sense. I was given the shows that I had purchased (or though I purchased) days later I received an email saying that my bank had rejected the charge because I had closed the account that was attached to paypal and had forgotten to updated it. Now when I try to update my apps on my ipad it says my Apple ID has been disable. I have tried going into itunes and adding my itunes gift card so that it could charge what I owe and be able to download my apps but it will not take my itunes giftcard because I have my Apple ID disable. I have change my method of payment on my itunes account to nothing but I can't seem to get it to work. Can anyone help me with this?

Upgraded to iOS 7...cannot download apps...it just keeps spinning...what a waste!!

I've upgraded to iOS 7and now unable to connect the app store and downaload the apps. The wheel just keeps spinning. Very disappointed with the upgrade!

I had the same problem with an iPad mini. I rebooted using the circle and the power button and it works..... try it.
