After Upgrading to Windows XP Pro SP3 Boot Camp Will Not Boot

It just goes on and on and on. I restarted the computer and went into safe mode to shut it down. The funny thing is I can access it with VMWare Fusion.

Yeah, I start it up through the Windows partition, it goes to a screen that gives me the option of starting in windows xp home or continue with xp pro upgrade. When I continue with the upgrade that's when I get the unmountable disk error.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have to format your Windows volume and install Windows 7. First, insert the Windows 7 DVD and hold the C key while your computer is starting. Then, follow the steps and, at partitioning step, choose your Windows volume (it's the last volume listed in your display), choose Advanced options, and format it. Then, install Windows.
Finally, after installing it, install the Boot Camp support software > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630
Windows 8 is only compatible with some new computers. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634

  • After upgrading to maverick my epson WF-2540 scanner will not work. There are no upgrades showing so what do I do?

After I upgraded to Maverick my Epson WF-2504 scanner will not work.  There is no software update showing necessary either. I have gone to the Epson website but it doesn't offer a download.  It tells me to go to "software update" ???  Any suggestions?

    Thanks Arthur,
I was hoping for a good bubble bursting, but I tried that HP "update" as soon as my printer stopped responding. I really really wanted my bubble popped.
One needs the Apple supplied driver for this work. It will not work because the driver to basically function on the updated Mavericks is not supplied by Apple Updates, so the HP driver that stops printing an extra page is rendered useless. I spent, wasted two days going back and forth between Support threads, HP chat and on the phone, through all the Mac channels where I was told that the 2011 HP was antique. HP said Apple had the drivers. So, they pointed a finger at one another with this unlucky customer caught in the crossfire. HP said Mac did it and Mac said HP did it. BOOM ! goes the guy in between who spent a good bit of money to have good equipment. What is wrong with expecting a printer to last beyond 3 years, or for a back up drive to last more than 3 years?
I do appreciate the attempt to help though. It was here in Discussions where I was guided to the gimp driver, drivers which in the past always worked when needed but in this case something wicked about Mavericks prevents it from working. No matter how many times HP says it works on their site all you have to do is try and then speak with customer service to find out that in a parellel universe this may logically hold. It does not hold here.  If it were the case that by working in Lion it would work in Mavericks then there must be something wrong with me. But why, APPLE, is it that one day it works, do the update and then it does not when Lion was the previous OS? I did Everything, every single thing recommended by people who had good ideas and wanted to help but all too often the facts tell us nothing of the world. Facts are tools used to decieve, the world is where it works or does not work and in this case Mavericks has cost me close to $300. Probably not a big deal in some cases, but money is money. When it is gone it is gone.
I followed the complete uninstall, going into library and removing all HP, then restarting and lo and behold HP driver for 4500 not only was not present but along the way my 500gig back up drive died, as in dead, nothing.
Of course I will not buy another HP product. If you go to the list of drivers Mac says it carries the HP Officejet 4500 wireless may be present but is not carried by Apple. I have tried Apple update over and over. What I have done is wasted my time and money. In one fell update I lost a printer and a back up drive. No storms, no loss of electricity, no boogie men lurking, no malware, no gremlins, nothing but an innocent customer updating when Apple said "update". Sure it is serendipity that both my printer and back up drive died on the same day at the same time following the Mavericks update. Who am I but a loyal customer? I must be stupid because my equipment stopped responding after the update. It is not new that there are bugs and glitches following updates. I was a beta tester for OS X, it wiped my computer clean, but I understood, it was beta.
A friend told me the same about planned obsolescence in that since printers are cheap and ink is expensive they don't really care about customer satisfaction. Three years old is antique, out of date. We should and must all be angered by this hatred for the customer shown by manufacturers across the board. Blaming the customer is ridiculous and absurd but not unheard of, in fact it has become the rule of thumb from the other side. The customer is innocent. All we want is to buy premium equipment and to have it behave in a manner befitting the cost. I am an Apple user since 1994. I designed a restaurant on a 333 mhz black and white Mac. You know, the big floppy disc one. I am not new to Apple. Fiercely loyal for 20 years. This is the most angered I have been by the flippant attitude shown to us all.
Thank you for giving the links and hopeful advice. I tried them all when I first had the troubles. The good people in discussions, not the Apple plants, but the users, tried their best. I thought that by coming back later there would be updates and new links that would help. But no. Maybe one day. HP lost a customer, it means nothing to any of the manufacturers when a customer is ridiculed by their cynical attitude towards the customer. Maybe there will be someone else to come along here that has had similar experiences and found a way to fix. Used to be a gimp driver could do the trick. Used to be a way. I fear we lose control of our equipment more and more every day. This is not a rant. It is a somewhat sad expression of having been ripped off. Discussions here have helped in the past but the more things advance the less we matter. And as in the past when I was mad about an Apple failure a member sent a fix and I printed the fix for others to use in return. We help one another in the best of ways. Please spread the word, maybe there will be a fix to show up here sometime. I kissed my iOmega back up drive and the 500 gigs of writings, photos, backups and music goodbye, gone forever, poof! But the HP printer is still here on my desk. I don't want to give up hope.

  • X230 Wi-Fi problems after upgrading to Windows 8 Pro

    Hi,
My X230 came installed with Windows 7 Pro and was working fine for several months. I upgraded my X230 (Intel Centrino Advanced n-6205) to Windows 8 Pro a few weeks back (10/27). The Wi-Fi was working fine for the first week or so. After that I enabled the Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro and my networking problems started around the same time. Not sure if they are related but my wi-fi connection seems to have degraded dramatically over the past few weeks. At first it was slow then it started dropping connections and the it would not connect at all and I had to reboot. It is at a point now that it will not connect anymore. I have tried installing new drivers/removing and installing Intel PROset/rolling back drivers/Remvoing the hyper-V etc. All options seemed to work for a day or so. Right now the Wi-Fi doesn't work anymore. No fiddling around works. Very frustrating, how can I check if this is something related to Windows 8 or if it is related to Centrino. I'm *this* close to rolling back to Windows 7 and be done with this nonsense. I have about 10 devices in the house which connect fine to this wifi router.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Does your notebook have switchable graphics that worked i Windows 7?
The AMD graphics driver provides the audio while using an HDMI output.
You will need to install the AMD graphics driver in Windows 7 compatibility mode to resolve this.
The instructions on how to install Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode are here.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Essentials Connector: The server is not available after upgrade from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1. Pro

    Hi all
As many others I am facing also connection problems with Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2 and a windows client pc.
The client pc in question, with windows 8 pro, has been successfully joined through the essentials connector to the domain.
All things went good: media streaming, shared folders, a successfull backup has been started through the essentials launchpad, the client appeared as online in the devices tab of the essentials dashboard.
Then I upgraded the pc to windows 8.1 pro.
Now the client can't connect to the server. Following issues appear:
The client pc is showed as offline the the dashboard when it is online.
Backups (from launchpad or server) aren't  possible -> no connection to the windows server essentials adminitration service.
    Dashboard not available from launchpad
The message "the server is not available" appears, when I try to reconnect the client by the essentials connector.
    BUT:
ping to the server's ip address works.
    media streaming is also ok
    shared folders are still available.
Any ideas what changed with the upgrade to 8.1 Pro? Is the a firewall problem on the client pc?
    Many thanks for your help.
PS. If anyone needs a specific log file from the server or the client, please let me know.

    Hi Justin
I executed all you instructions, but nothing helped.
I add here the ClientDeploy.log and the ComputerConnector.log
The ClientDeploy stopps after a registry insert error.
The user executing the connector is member of the Administrators Group on the Client pc.
I started the connector even with "Run as Administrator" but nothing helped.
Any ideas why this registry insert failes?
Thanks for you help and best regards
    Hans

  • AE, PR, EN, and AME won't load after upgrade to Windows 8 Pro

I was running CS6 on Window 7 Home Premium. I upgraded my system to Windows 8 Pro and those 4 programs hang when trying to load. For AE it hangs at Initialize MediaCore, PR and AME hang at ExporterAVI.prm, and EN hangs once the application launches. I've uninstalled and reinstalled CS6, I'm uninstall Magic Bullet, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime. I've also given the program permission through the firewall as listed in the help guide from Adobe. Can anyone assist?

I'd 'refresh(charm->change pc settings->general)' or 'remove and reinstall' windows 8 if I were you, since upgrading to w8 from w7 made a lots of errors and BSOD(driver-related) for me. You have to install programs again even if you choose refresh. Sooner or later you'll face some errors... or not.

  • After upgrading to snow leopard my HP C5180 printer will not allow me to scan to the computer, it only works as a copier?

    Hello,
My hardrive crashed, replaced and reinstalled. However after upgrading to Snow Leopard v.10.6.8, my HP C5180 printer will not give me an option to scan an image to the computer. It only functions as a copier. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

If your driver is up to date (you didn't say) then you can try Image Capture in your Applications folder or take a look at VueScan http://www.hamrick.com/

Just wanted to say that I was having the same problem accessing the iTunes store. the problem was that I downloaded a PDF with a virus that masquerades as an Antivirus program, called Antivirus Soft. This thing installs itself and resets your Internet settings to its own proxy server. However, I don't use MSIE and didn't think to clear its proxy settings. I ran iTunes diagnostics and learned thet iTunes used the LAN settings from MSIE to connect to the Internet. Once I cleared the LAN settings from MSIE, I was able to connect.
SO, check your LAN settings if you're having trouble connecting but haven't received any Antivirus Soft warnings. The virus is a bear to get rid of. Any attempt to start an antivirus program is thwarted until you can get rid of the virus. You get "error messages" saying that any program you attempt to open is infected, but it isn't.I managed to get rid of Antivirus Soft by using McAfee Antivirus after a few attempt. The frustrating thing is that the viruis installs itself in your startup program, so you have to get your real antivirus running very fast after reboot.

  • G460 WiFi + Bluetooth don't work after upgrading to Windows 7 Pro x64

I recently did a clean installation of 7 Professional 64-bit. I erased OKR partition and everything else. The install went fine, but the OS doesn't recognize the Broadcom card or the Bluetooth unit. I've tried installing each of the drivers available on the Support and Downloads page, but nothing there has worked. I even tried manually installing the drivers through Windows' Device Manager, but nothing.
The BIOS was updated. I've tried "restoring defaults" on BIOS. Nothing. The third light (for WiFi/BT) comes on when the computer starts but turns off once Windows is loaded. Also, the Fn+F5 combo doesn't work although the other hotkeys work. I even tried removing the Broadcom chip from the computer, booting Windows, shutting down, and then re-installing the hardware and re-booting Windows, but nothing.
This is terribly frustrating! Any help would be appreciated.

    re-install power management for hotkeys.
use vista drivers instead of windows 7.
if the drivers on support page doesn't work, try to install drivers from here

  • Re: Keyboard problems after upgrade to Windows 8 Pro

I have an HP Media Center Desktop PC, about 3 years old, with a Logitech wired keyboard. I had no problems at all until I upraded to Windows 8 64 bit from Vista. After a period of inactivity (anywhere from a half hour to several hours) the keyboard ceases to function. Nothing I type appears on the screen. It's as if I had disconnected the keyboard. It happens in any application, even the user login. I have no issue with the mouse. That's a wireless HP mouse.

  • Keyboard problems after upgrade to Windows 8 Pro

    Model 610-1280qd
After updating, I find that my HP wireless keyboard that came with the computer, no longer allows me to use the number keys and special characters above the letters. Device manager shows 5 listings under the keyboard tab including a PS2 keyboard. Whats up with that? To enter numbers, I have to move to the numeric keypad. If I need a special character, I have to enter it by using the onscreen keyboard. Any suggestions? The other listings all have to do with a Microsoft IR keyboard. So, is this a Microsoft keyboard driver issue or an HP keyboard driver issue?

    Hello Ken1766
Are you using IE10 in the Metro UI or on the Desktop? Try using it in the opposite interface and see if the problem persists.
    IE10 is in the directory C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Let me know if both experience the same problem.

I recently upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 64-bit on my HP G60-553NR and went through 3 tiers of tech support with Windows because after upgrading to Windows 8 Pro.... I had no sound coming from my speakers from my notebook nor will sound play when headphones are plugged in. Windows Tech support said that there are no compatable sound drivers to download, which leaves me with no sound completely which is no bueno. So, is there a driver that I can download that will work on my notebook?! If not, how do I downgrade to Windows 7. I'm a DJ and I really need some sound like asap. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Thanks
