After upgrading to Yosemite iPhoto won't work or upgrade to newest version because" someone else bought or it was deleted" What's up'? I bought it but I did delete my app from my iPad! Did I screw up?

After upgrading from Lion to Yosemite my iPhoto wouldn't work because it "needed to be upgraded" so I tried to upgrade by got the message that I couldn't upgrade b/c someone else bought it or it was deleted. I deleted my iPhoto app on my iPad about 1 week ago but my iPhoto and 1000s of pix were fine. What's up? Did I screw up by deleting the app?

No, the versions of iPhoto on the iPad and on OS X are totally different.
What Apple ID are you using for the Mac App Store? Who else has access to that Apple ID, or what possible other Apple IDs could be in use? It's possible you'll need to purchase iPhoto to get the upgrade, though I'd think Software Update should offer you the correct version.

The preinstalled apps, those that came as part of the iOS, cannot be deleted and will not shake or provide the black circle-X for deletion.
Others should do that if you touch and hold for a few seconds.
If they are not, do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.

  • TS1702 Why cant i permanently delete an app from my iPad? I hate iTunes and do not use it unless forced to!!

I bought an app today that doesnt function as advertised. My iPad does not sync to a computer. I do not use iTunes unless forced to. Is there a way to delete an app from my iPad directly? Also, why can't I delete permanently something from iTunes??

To delete an app directly on your iPad, press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. You can't delete any of the Apple built-in apps e.g. Music, App Store, Game Centre etc. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
As to why you can't currently permanently delete something from your account then it's because Apple don't yet allow us to (possibly because people would then accidentally delete things and they wouldn't then be able to re-download them for free) - you can hide previous purchases from your purchase history to make them less visible (and it's only fairly recently that we've been able to do that) : hiding and unhiding.

  • My Macbook Pro's iTunes App was logged in as someone else. I logged out of that account and logged into mine, but I found that the app still shows all of the previous account's content. None of my apps, songs, or movies are there!

My Macbook Pro's iTunes App was logged in as someone else. I logged out of that account and logged into mine, but I found that the app still shows all of the previous account's content. None of my apps, songs, or movies are there! iTunes 12.1.0.50 on OS X Yosemite version 10.10. Why is iCloud doing this, and how do I view my content again?

MacBook Pro  / Mozilla Firefox / Netflix / Silverlight Update solved - DON'T DWNLOAD FROM NETFLIX
I solved this problem tonight. I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.8. I know, it's old. But I love my Netflix and I recently noticed that Firefox plays Netflix much better.  Then I suddenly got this message that I needed to download the latest Silverlight - it only takes 30 seconds! - WRONG.   However, after much searching, I finally did the steps in order and it worked.
This was after repeatedly downloading Silverlight from the Netflix site without success.  So here's what I did:
    1. Went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
    2. Followed the directions. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it right before.
    3. Go to your hard drive and search for "Silverlight" to locate ANY existing Silverlight files: .dmg, etc.
[also check your Libary/ Internet Plug-ins, but the above search is faster]
    4. Drag it all to the trash and empty it.
    5. Go back to the Get  Silverlight page and click on the Install on that page, not the Netflix site.
    6. Note the steps for Safari or Mozilla Firefox - I wanted Firefox, so I follwed those instructions.
    7. Once it's installed, close all the browsers and Restart that bad boy. Right away.
    8. Open a browser, go to Netflix and proceed to joyfully rot your brain with Netflix content. Yay!

  • How do I permanently delete an app from my iPad and App Store?

I would like to permanently delete apps from my iPad and my Purchased list in the App Store. How do I do this? These apps are ones that I have tried and found to be useless or do not work correctly. I have deleted apps from iTunes Store, but I cannot get rid these unwanted apps on my iPad and this is very annoying.
Apple may think that users out there who may change their mind. However I am not one of them. If something is useless and does not work correctly, then I do not want to see it again. Some of these apps I have paid for, but I am prepared to accept that loss as a bad purchase. So Apple, please provide a facility to allow users to permanently delete apps from the App Store. Obviously, Apple would have to include the appropriate warnings that permanently deleting apps cannot be reversed.

    Hi ..
You can delete the currenlty installed apps. Hold down an app until all the apps jiggle. Then on each app tap the x then tap Delete. Press the Home button once to to stop the apps from jiggling.
And you can hide purchases >  iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
But purchase history cannot be delete.
"Obviously, Apple would have to include the appropriate warnings that permanently deleting apps cannot be reversed."
Apps can re downloaded using the same Apple ID for free >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Two iPads on same account, I can't delete any apps from old ipad?

I got a new iPad air and have a first gen iPad too.  They are both on the same account so when I install apps on the new iPad they automatically show up on the old iPad too.  This is actually a good thing because I can have paid apps on both iPads....  The problem is that some of the apps will not install on the old iPad.  If I tried to install them directly from the App Store it would not allow it and give me a msg that says I cannot run this app because of the older iOS.   But since it is mirroring the new iPad, I have about 15 grayed out icons that are waiting to install.  Worse yet, if I press and hold to try and delete them, I get the wiggling icons but no X on any of them... I can't delete the grayed out apps nor can I delete existing installed apps.  I have tried a hard reset with no luck.  The original PC that I used to manually sync the old iPad with is apart in the attic as we don't use it anymore.  Any ideas?

you need to put your phone in recovery mode (search Google) and restore your device as new.  All your data will be lost.

  • TS1702 How do you delete an app from your iPad?

My creditcard incurred a large bill from my child playing an app called, Magic Tree by Com2uS.  Can anyone tell me how to delete this game off an ipad?

Well I cant run it from the screen anymore but its still installed after deleting the icon.  I can still go into Ipod apps and shows it installed and can click open and it runs.  Just makes it harder to run, but still takes up the space and is installed.

  • TS1424 how do i permanently delete an app from my ipad in the purchased apps section that has already been deleted?

I am trying to delete an app I no longer want or need completely from my purchased apps history. I deleted it from my main page but I dont want it to show up any more period. Any suggestions??

You cannot delete it form your purchase history, as it is  a history of all of your purchases.  That is the point of your purchase history.
    You can hide it.

  • TS1702 I recently deleted an app from my iPad and want to now re-install it.  I am unable to do so from app store. It won't let me download it!  Any thoughts?

Trying to reinstall a previously deleted app. App store won't allow it.  Any thoughts?

So when you visit the Dropbox page in the App Store it says "UPDATE" and not "FREE," right?
That would seem to indicate it is still on the iPad somewhere. If you are positive it isn't, try resetting the device: hold both the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost. Then try accessing the App Store again.
If it is still on the iPad, try going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout. This should organize downloaded apps alphabetically. See if you see Dropbox. If you do:

  • How can I cancel a newspaper app? I have deleted the app from my iPad and itunes

How can I cancel paying weekly for a newspaper app?

You may end up having to delete the stalled apps in order to redownload them, but in the meantime.....
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
Try a reboot as well - hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider.
And .. You can finish the downloads in iTunes on your computer and then sync them to the iPad.

I have some apps that I don't like. How do I get rid of them?

    Depends.
If they were installed with iOS, you can't.
If you installed them from the App Stor, you can hold your finger on them until the icons start to jiggle then press X in upper lefthand corner.
