Aggregate Data on Existing Query

Greetings All. I am missing a concept here. I have the
following code and it works except one thing. I am running a report
against a trouble ticket database to show what each engineer closed
for the month so I group it by person. I also want a summary of how
many each person closed and I can't get that to work. Here is the
code I am using. I know the summary is wrong as it only shows me
the total tickets closed for the month.
I have the following coldfusion query setup and can't figure
out how to get summary / agreegate data on one part of this. I have
it showing the closed tickets grouped by user but I also want it to
show a summary of how many tickets that were closed by each user.
The total value gets returned (1509) for the time period but I want
the values for the individual users.

Dan
thanks for the reply. I do know how to do an aggregate to add
up how many records were closed I just don't know how to group the
output of the count by employee. Could you give me a code snippet?
thanks for your initial reply. I have read some Ben Forta books in
the past and they were great.

Next I have Table2 with field3 and field4. field1 is the unique key for this table.
    My query is:

In the result I want to aggregate the data by T2.field4
How do I that? Please help

  • Excluding Weekend dates from existing query

I have the following query that returns the average of the total sum between start and end date of a status.
How do I take out the weekend dates so it doesn't include saturday and sunday.?
    SELECT TRUNC(AVG( SUM ( (DECODE (status, 'Estimator Notified' ");
    ,cc.end_date,NULL) - DECODE (cc.status, 'Estimator Notified',cc.start_date,NULL)))),1)
    FROM cc_request_status cc
    group by cc.request_id

The above solution actually generates each date in a range and tests it for a Saturday or Sunday date. A more efficient solution calculates the weekend days directly by using the following facts:
    1) For each whole week in the range the number of weekends days is 2.
    2) For the partial week, a function can be made based on the ending day and the number of partial days to calculate the number of weekend days.
The following code uses the above two facts to calculate the number of days in a range excluding weekends:
    SELECT NUM_DAYS - (WEEKS*2) -
           CASE WHEN REMAINDER = 0 THEN 0
                WHEN END_DOW = 7 THEN 1
                ELSE
                    CASE
                        WHEN END_DOW > REMAINDER THEN 0
                        WHEN END_DOW = REMAINDER THEN 1
                        ELSE 2
                    END
           END BUS_DAYS
    FROM
        SELECT END_DOW, NUM_DAYS, FLOOR(NUM_DAYS/7) WEEKS, MOD(NUM_DAYS,7) REMAINDER
        FROM
            SELECT (TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(END_DATE, 'J')) -
                    TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(START_DATE, 'J'))) + 1 NUM_DAYS,
                   TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(END_DATE,  'D')) END_DOW
            FROM
              SELECT TO_DATE('05/05/2007','MM/DD/YYYY') START_DATE,
                     TO_DATE('05/14/2007','MM/DD/YYYY') END_DATE
              FROM DUAL

  • No data from BW-Query in BO-tools

    Hello all
On a newly installed BO XI 3.1 with the SAP integration kit I cannot get data from my existing BW queries.
For example, if I start Xcelsius and add my BW-system as connection I can get the structure of the query (headings) but no data is displayed, neither in the connection's preview tab nor in the web preview.
The same happens if I create a QaaWS on this BW-query - I see the query headings, but not the actual data.
The query shows data if I open it directly in my web browser and it's a really simple one: no variables, no extras, only a few columns and rows.
    I use SAP BW 7.01 SP6, XI 3.1 12.3.3 and XCelsius 2008 5.3.4
In SAP BW my user has SAP_ALL as well as BOE Admin & Content producer roles.
I'm relatively new to BO products so I have no idea where to start looking for the cause. Please help!

    Hi
After I found the document "Using Xcelsius 2008 with SAP NetWeaver BW" (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10ad2489-8956-2d10-f8ab-ed4cce2766da?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true) and followed the steps it works.
It seems as if the error was not in the system but in front of it - a typical case of RTFM, although the manuals are not always easy to find.
    sorry & thanks.

  • How to create a variance on data that exists iIn only one database column

How to create a variance on data that exists iIn only one database column?
I'm trying to create a calculation to show the difference between the budgets for two different years in a Discoverer crosstab query.
I'm using the lag function to repeat the value of a column for the current year and the year before.

Lag and lead seems to be the only choice and they work excellent. Checkout the new 10g Database features. There is new SQL modal clause which might give additional and powerful analytics but in this case lag and lead should be sufficient.

  • Can I store only the aggregate data in OLAP cube

    Hi All,
I know that the OLAP cubes store the leaf data and then builds the aggregate data on top of it and stores with in it. I have huge amounts of data ( like billions of data in my fact table and 6-8 dimension tables). If you keep the leaf data along with the agg data with in the cube would be too large to build.
So I am thinking to have to store only the agg data within the OLAP cube and for the leaf data it should still read from the Relational tables. Something like Hybrid OLAP.
    (what I mean is
    1. create the dimensions and cube in the AWM on 11g.
    2. I will also specifiy the levels that I want the agg data to be calculated and stored in the OLAP cube.
    (what I want is
    1. I want to store only the agg data in the cube and leaf data still in the relatlional tables.
    2. when I read the cube and drill down to the leaf level , it should fetch the leaf level data.
Is this possible in Oracle OLAP, if yes please provide some pointers
    Thanks
    S

First you should try out storing and aggregating data to atleast see if the cube-loading time, query-time and AW-size is within acceptable limit or not. 11gOLAP especially 11gR2 OLAP is very efficient on all three fronts.
Regarding specifying levels, you can either use Cost-based-aggregation and pick the %age that should be pre-aggregated OR you can use Level-based-aggregation and pick the levels from each dimension that should be pre-aggregated.
Try these out before venturing into anything else. You will be surprised by the results. There are other ways to store the data in smaller multiple-cubes and joining those cubes through formulas. Make sure you don't mistake an attribute for a dimension.
Not sure what you mean by just storing aggregated data in olap cubes. You can just do a SUM .. GROUP BY .. of relational data before loading it into olap cubes. For example, if you source data is at DAY level, you can SUM.. GROUP BY .. at MONTH-level and then load month-level data into olap cubes where leaf-level is month-level.
The sql view (used by reporting tools) could then be a join between month-level "olap" data and "day-level" relational data. When you are drilling-down on the data, the sql view will pick up data from appropriate place.
One more thing. Drill-Thru to detail data is a functionality of reporting tools also. If you are using OBIEE or Discoverer Plus OLAP, then you can design the reports in a way that after you reach the olap leaf-level, then it will take the user to a relational detail-report.
These are all just quick suggestions (on a Friday evening). If possible, you should get Oracle OLAP Consulting Group help, who can come up with good design for all your reporting needs.

I can't think that the query you have would be valid in a SQL plus window.

  • Where to get BW Metadata: owner, creation date, change date of a query / WS

    Hello,
I need a report over the existing queries / worksheets and the owner, creation date, change date of a query etc.
You see some of the information when you go over query properties in the query designer. But you see only the information of one (the opened) query. And you have to do this for every query ...
My idea is to go over BW Metadata in the technical content.
Here is the cube BW Metadata 0BWTC_C08
(The InfoCube BW Statistics u2013 Metadata contains metadata from the Metadata Repository.)
Is this the way to do it? Or any other suggestions u2026
Can I get infos about used structures , etc over this way
    Thanks Markus

I had to work on an other subject:
But now the source of information is clear:
RSRREPDIR - index of all queries
RSZELTDIR -  index of all queries-components
RSRWORKBOOK - Verwendungsnachweis für Berichte in Workbooks
RSRWBINDEX - List of binary large objects (Excel workbooks)
RSRWBINDEXT - Titles of binary objects (Excel workbooks) in InfoCatalog
The tables are to join over
    RSRREPDIR.COMPUID  = RSZELTDIR.ELTUID
    RSZELTDIR.TEXTLG  contains the description
    RSRWORKBOOK.GENUID  = RSRREPDIR.GENUID
RSRWBINDEXT and RSRWBINDEX are connected over WORKBOOKID
I'd like to put the information of all of this tables in a cube and define a query on it.
I have to define new datasource, infosource to get the data in the cube.
    Right?
Now i see some existing datasource objects in the technical content.
    0TCTQUERID, 0TCTQUERID_TEXT, 0TCTQUERY, 0TCTQUERY_TEXT
I can't open them to look in. But they might be helpfull. Anybody used them?

  • SQ01 - How to associate existing query with another  infoset ?

    Hello,
I created an infoset and want to associate it with an <u>existing</u> query.
-> I tried to change the existing query but it is blocked for changes by the user author.
-> I tried to copy the existing query to a new query but the infoset was copied automatically
Is it possible to do this?
    Alex,

Hello, a query is built upon the infoset, it gets data from the infoset structure and display them in the way you have defined in the query, if you change the infoset that is below a query you might not have all the data you need in the query.
Why not create a new query based on the othe infoset?

  • Transfer Data from a Query to DSO

    Hello,
I have an APD to transfer data from a query to a 'Direct update DSO'. The execution of this APD times out since the volume of query data is very high.
Is there an alternate way of transfering data from a query to DSO?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks!

One way would be to extract the data from the existing cube using a function module that would mimic the query level filters and restrictions. That data can be populated into the new cube.
I wud suggest u take the data from a non-aggregated layer (say a DSO below the cube).
Also, check for the possibility of running the APD in multiple runs by using some kind of selection that would sum up to give u the whole data required.
Can u confirm if ur query itself is getting timed out?

  • How to aggregate data with BI Publisher using an OBIEE analysis

    Hello,
I'm new with BI Publisher, and I have a concern about the ability for BIP to aggregate data.
I am creating a data source from an OBIEE analysis containing the columns "Year", "Month", and "Revenue".
I want to use this source for 1 report containing several pages. One of the page has a simple table displaying only the Year and the Revenue.
But I get as many rows as number of months is the year.
And I cannot find any way to have the data aggregate inside my PIB table.
Can someone help me finding the solution?
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi,
Unfortunalty BIP doesn't aggregate anything, like the BI server does. It will always show data on the lowest level.
If you use a query on the BI-server let the BI server do the aggregation and just remove the "Month" column. If you don't want to remove it from your OBI analysis, copy the logical SQL from this analysis to BIP. And select OBIEE as a datasource.
Then remove month from your query.

  • Adding threshold values in an existing query

    Hi All,
I have to update an existing query.
The original query gives me the value of Debtors to sales ratio for each division (DTR value).
Now, I want that for each division, there be a threshold value which should be compared with the debtor's value and if found higher than the threshold, the result should be in red.
The result being in red can be done at the front end, which in my case is Cognos.
But to store different threshold values for diffrerent divisions and then compare them with the debtor's values of the query, do I need to have a separate cube wherein I should store the divisions and their threshold values?
Or how can I go about it?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Sharmishtha

    Hi Nagesh,
I do not have those values in the system but will be getting as external data only.
Divisions and debtors are separate info objects.
I have 12 debtors KFs (for 12 months) which get filled by an APD (data source is a query).
So, my final query has divisions in the rows and 12 debtors in the colm.
So, now i'll be given some threshold debtor value for each division which I need to bring in the query as a KF which can be compared in the query output.
So, what you suggested will it work in this requirement?
Also, can you elaborate on the method I need to follow?
    Thanks a lot,
    Sharmishtha
