AIF - inbound background processing - is that possible?

Hi,
In WE20 for IDOCs we can set procssing from immediate processing to background processing
which means that many IDOCs will be processing using one work process
and not one work process per each message. This is done for enhancing performance in most of the inbound IDOC scenarios.
Can we do the same with AIF or inbound web services (proxies) for that matter ?
If not are the any procedures for handling large volume scenarios for proxies ? (so as not to occupy all work processes)
Thank you,
Regards,
Michal Krawczyk

Hi Michal:
If you are using IDOCs, there are AIF specific programs similar to the standard IDOC processing programs to process the AIF IDOCs in background.
Not sure what's availale for the proxy scenario.
Thanks

  • ATP Re-Run in background processing for sales order

    Hello All,
    In sales order i need to re run the ATP check for the quantity confirmation in background processing.
    Scenario is :
    I have created orders with order quantity 100.
    while creating the order stock for the same material was only 20 so ultimately it will not confirmed the quantity.
    After the some period i m increasing stock of same material by 120. Now, same order which i created before can be confirmed as i need only 100 quantity in that. but for the same I need to manually run the ATP again and then it will confirm the quantity.
    instead of manually re run the ATP again i want to do this activity in background processing so that it will automatically confirmed the stock once inventory increased.
    Is there any provision in sap to avoid this manual task with the help of background processing or any program?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rasik

    Hi,
    This can be achieved by rescheduling the orders .

    You reach the Sales screen.
    Select Environment ® Backorders ® Rescheduling ® Execute.
    You can  also simulate the backorders for rescheduling before confirming by selecting the simulateevaluate option.
    Prerequisite for rescheduling the line items of the order is that at schedule line you should not flag the  field fixed date and quantity field. Also for ATP you must have defined the scope of check with checking rule BO(i guess) for that particular plant in combination of checking group .
    Hope this will help you.

  • GUI_DOWNLOAD and background processing

    Hello,
    I have created a process which creates a file. this process uses GUI_DOWNLOAD to put the file on the users C drive or other directory on our network. The user wants to run this process in background and the program is returning a 6  (error unknown) from the GUI_DOWNLOAD FM. I was looking on SDN and found out the GUI_DOWNLOAD only works in foreground. You have to use OPEN and CLOSE DATASET statements to process in background. I am thinking about putting a button to denote foreground/background processing and using the appropriate statements to process the file. I will then have to get the file from the app server to a place will the user can get access to it.
    <b>first question</b> - is there a FM to do a FTP from the app server to a directory on our network for the user to access?
    <b>second question</b> - is this the right approach or is there something else that I should be doing.
    thanks in advance for your help

    Hi,
    Yes, your right, GUI_DOWNLOAD wil not work in background mode, you need to place the file in Application server, here.
    See the below link for a FTP program, use the proper commands(i do not know whether downloading the file is possible through the commands)
    http://www.sap-img.com/ab003.htm
    or else, write a small program which downloads the data from the application server, but it should run in the foreground

  • Background Processing? how schedule job for "System Error" Message .

    Hello everyone,
    in sap help i have read.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/5a/f72040599a8f5ce10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    PCK> Monitoring>Message Monitoring-->Background Processing
    you can schedule jobs for various background processing:
    ●     Archiving of messages processed successfully
    ●     Deletion of messages that are not to be archived
    ●     Restarting of messages with errors
    ●     Rescheduling of lost messages
    can anyone understand this docu?
    give me some introduction, how can i define and schedule these jobs ?
    thx in advance!!
    best regards
    Yaning

    Background Processing
    Prerequisites
    You have started the message monitor on the initial screen of the PCK and are in Background Processing.
    Features
    Archiving
    You require two archiving sessions to archive messages:
    ●     One session to write the messages to the archive
    ●     One session to delete the persisted messages that have been archived
    To do this, you schedule an archiving job, which implicitly schedules the sessions to write to the archive and delete the archived messages.
    You can define one or more rules for each archiving job; these rules contain conditions that a message must meet in order to be archived by the job. At least one of the defined rules must be met for archiving to take place.
    All information that is displayed for a message in message monitoring is archived, in addition to the audit log for each message.
    Deleting
    A standard delete job is created automatically. It runs once a day. You can schedule additional delete jobs; however, you cannot define rules for them.
    Restarting
    Instead of restarting messages with errors manually with message monitoring, you can schedule a job to automatically restart these messages. This is possible for all messages for which the number of defined restart attempts has been exceeded (messages with the system error status).
    You can define one or more rules for each job to restart messages; these rules contain conditions that a message must meet in order to be restarted by the job. At least one of the defined rules must be met for archiving to take place.
    Rescheduling
    A standard job to reschedule messages is created automatically. The job runs once a day and ensures that messages lost as a result of database failure, for example, are rescheduled. You can schedule additional rescheduling jobs; however, you cannot define rules for them.
    Thx Aamir.
    But I mean the messages with errors in Adapter Engine , not in Intergrations Engine.
    the situation is like Naveen Pandrangi's WebLog
    II. Errors in Adapter Engine [XI :  How to Re-Process failed XI Messages Automatically|XI :  How to Re-Process failed XI Messages Automatically]
    I
    Till now we have seen how to resubmit/restart message that failed in Integration Engine.  One a message makes it from Integration Engine to Adapter Engine, the message is flagged as checked in Integration Engine. The status of the message in Adapter engine does not effect the processed state in Integration Engine. Now if this message was asynchronous, XI will by default try to restart the message 3 times at intervals of 5 minutes before the status of the message is changed from Waiting to System Error .
    *how can i schedule a job to automatically restart these messages with errors?
    best regards

  • ABAP trail 7.00 timeouts and background process

    Does anyone knows if it's possible to change the number of dialog and background processes?
    And the transaction to change the timeouts of such processes?
    Thank you

    you can change the timeout in rz11.Parameter-name is rdisp/max_wprun_time. Backgound processes habe no timeout, so this value is only valid for dia-processes
    To change the number, you have to adjust your instance profile. In the forum  'Netweaver Administrator' should be some information about that. So just the short hint: you can adjust the profiles in RZ10, but have to do some steps for that. Just search in NW-Admin-forum above.

  • Background processing needed...

    iWeb needs to background process.
    Each shape/rollover/png/navbar/image-resize file needs to be generated as you make it, or in the background if you're working fast. Every time you alter the item's size or appearance on the iWeb page, it should regenerate it, but if you don't alter the item it leaves the generated file untouched. Moving the item on the iWeb page should not alter the already generated file. Altering plain text on a page should not change anything, only the html file.
    There should be an info page like iDVD informing you of background encoding status. You can however save at any time (like iDVD).
    When you come to publish, it should generate all other items that have changed or not yet been background encoded (as it does now).
    Next time you open iWeb to work on it, all encoding is all up to date (as it did it all prior to publish), so any items that have not been changed should be untouched, and only new items need to be encoded and hence published.
    That way, only changed items are generated, not the whole shebang. Thus saving everybody's wasted time and effort in uploading/finding changed files etc.
    It should be perfectly possible as iWeb has an undo and a restore feature, so it is already keeping track of changes all the time.
    What do you think, will this be in iWeb 1.2, iWeb 2.0, or Web Studio Pro 1.0 ?

    Hi,
    This is the F1 documentation for calling a FM in Update task
    Flags the function module func for execution in the update task. It is not executed at once, but the data passed with EXPORTING or TABLES is placed in a database table and a subsequent COMMIT WORK then causes the function module to be executed by the update task.
    This is the F1 documentation for calling a FM in background task
    Flags the function module func to be run asynchronously. That is, it is not executed at once. Instead, the data passed using EXPORTING or TABLES is placed in a database table and the next COMMIT WORK executes it in another work process.
    Hope this helps

  • How to deploy an app with servlet and background processing

    i have a servlet with background processing. it has to run 24 hours a day.
    but i have problem with shutdown (after 1-2 hours without user action). [9iAS 9.0.3.0, windows 2000]
    i created for application seperate OC4J (in the EM) and i deployed it there. first time as war file, later as ear file (because there is possible to re-deploy only ear file).
    but it seems that the servlets are not designated to run as a uninterruptible task.
    the question is: how to deploy such (servlet + uninterruptible background processing) application in the 9iAS?
    a) everything in the OC4J (then how to disable shutdown?)
    b) servlet in the OC4J. where (and how) to install the rest of application?
    b1) servlet in the OC4J + rmi/soap/... + standalone server?
    what is the standard in the oracle world :) ?

  • How to run a background process in a J2EE App ?

    Hi guys,
    Here is the requirement which totally stumped me.
    " The web app should have a feature like a background process or something like cron jobs.. which keeps on running in the background and at a particular time each day calls a method". User intervention is not an option.
    Now had this been a stand alone app .. I could have done this using Threads.. but i cant possibly use threads in a J2EE app. Any pointers.. how I can go about realizing this
    Thanks for your replies.
    Cheers!

    You could take the approach that SoulTech mentioned and spawn a new thread from the Servlet's init method. To have the servlet invoke this method with no intervention, you would need to set the following parameter in your servlet definition in your web.xml:
    <servlet>
      <servlet-name>MyStartupServlet</servlet-name>
      <servlet-class>com.my.company.MyStartupServlet</servlet-class>
      *<load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>*
    </servlet>When you deploy your application, the servlet will be loaded, and its init method will be called.
    If your application is running in a servlet container, I believe you are allowed (by the specification) to spawn your own threads, but you should do so carefully. Since you're writing a scheduler and not some kind of worker threads that are messing with your database, I think you should be okay. Still, just to keep it clean you should add any clean-up logic you may need to your servlet's destroy method. I know that in an EJB container, spawning your own threads can definitely be a problem and the container makes no guarantees that they will function correctly. The J2SE Timer class could be used if you're not using EJB, but the Timer class doesn't have support for J2EE - that's at least part of what led to the introduction of the timer beans in J2EE 1.4. If you're already using EJB, especially EJB 3.0, then the timer service provides a convenient built-in mechanism to do exactly what you want.
    There are always multiple ways to solve any problem...

  • AQ Callbacks - Blocking background processes and best practices.

    We are running several queues within our company and one of them uses pl/sql callback functionnality.
    Basically, several triggers can enqueue a message when underlying tables are updated. The goal of the callback is to "treat" those messages, which means dequeuing the messages and passing them to some procedure (determined through a confguration table and the type of message). I don't know if i'm clear enough on this but it is as important.
    In general the mechanism works perfectly but we noticed in one of our databases that, after a relatively big amount of messages enqueuing (~ 500-1000 in one trasanction), there are numerous background processes blocked on system table SYS.AQ_SRVNTFN_TABLEI. In fact, the queue starts growing and messages are not dequeued anymore by the callback, that doesn't seem to be executed anymore at all.
    We actually were also unable to re-compile the package that holds the callback procedure nor removing/adding the reference of the subscriber to the queue with DBMS_AQ. It would hang there forever...
    We are running Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release *10.2.0.4.0* and the value of AQ_TM_PROCESSES = 0.
    I don't necesseraly have a complete and clear view of how the queue mechanism works behind the scenes so forgive for some foolish things I could say :-)
    Diagnosis:
    After some research, it seems the backgrounds processes are blocked on the system table SYS.AQ_SRVNTFN_TABLE on some index for MSGID.
    If I understand correctly how the system works, the callback gets executed for a specific MSGID as we use it in the callback procedure to dequeue this message.
    I've also discovered that the default value for the WAIT dequeue option is FOREVER...
    So my idea was that, for some reason, the callback tries to dequeue a message that does not exist in the queue and... waits forever for the message to "appear".
    This at first seemed pretty unlikely to me: why would the callback be executed if no message with provided MSGID exists... then you start doubting :-)
    Attempt to resolve:
    We've decided to alter the WAIT option to not let the dequeue in the callback wait forever.
    We have made some tests (outside the callback) with NO_WAIT and also with a wait of a few seconds. Both solution prooved right so we added a wait of 60s in the callback and added some tracing.
    Since then, no more background processes seems to hang there and we are able to alter the callback procedure normally. But with the added tracing, we noticed an unexplained behavior with the execution of the callback:
    - callback runs
    - ORA-25263: no message in queue QUEUE_OWNER.MULTISRC_NOTIFQ with message ID B4FFD1115523A46EE040007F0100304F
    - callback runs again and message is dequeued and treated correctly
    The first oracle error happens fast, not after 60s as the WAIT option specifies.
    Questions:
    <li>Is the way the callback method is implemented correct (see code below) ?</li>
    <li>Do we need to commit in the callback method ? What implies committing or not ?</li>
    <li>How wouold you explain the behavior of the callback after setting the dequeue WAIT to 60s and why it does not actually wait for 60s ?</li>

    Helping you with the specific issue is going to be difficult without direct access to the servers but given the importance this system seems to have to your business why are you not running on a fully supported version (10.2 has been in extended support for more than 6 months) and even in the current configuration not patched to 10.2.0.5?
    My instinct would be to focus on moving to 11.2.0.3 as quickly as possible with a corresponding change to a current operating system version if your O/S is similarly out of date.

  • Create and Format an Excel File as a Background Process(Application Server)

    Hi all,
    I have a requirement to Output a formatted(Bold fonts, Merged Cells etc.) Excel File.
    It is to be run as background process. So ideally, the file will be produced in the ApplicationServer and will already contain the formatting. If I am to use ole2 functions such as
    *--Opening the existing document
       call method of gs_wbooks 'Open' = gs_wbook
       exporting #1 = file_path.
    Is this possible? can file_path point to the file created in the ApplicationServer?
    Any answers, suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance

    no.
    that works only in dialog

  • Could not support request for background processing

    Hello,
    We have a .NET 1.x application with CrystalReportViewer control.
    The application is running on a windows terminal server with approximatively 5 users using the applications and 10-20 logged on doing other stuff.
    When the user tries to preview the report using the CrystalReportViewer  object , the following exception is "sometimes" thrown
    [translated from dutch]
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.InternalException:
    error in file C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\Temp\35\{B8D10435-A104-4422-A220-6DB483DFC285}.rpt:
    The request could not be submitted for background processing. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800002AD)
    The application then terminates and if the user restarts the application attempts to reload the report, it usually loads with no problem .
    It can not be intentionality reproduced but it does happen frequently.
    I have been Googling for this problem , but havn't found any solution.
    On this website however a link is provided to a BO KB article with a possible solution:
    http://aspadvice.com/blogs/rjdudley/archive/2005/10/26/13443.aspx
    However, the article appears to require a login, my SAP CR account i used to register on these forums does not to work.
    What can we do to determine the exact cause of this problem, or are there any known solution for this problem ??
    If you need any more information please do ask.
    also,
    We have a licence for CR 11 and so does our client, what steps would we need to undertake to get professional /payed support from SAP crystal reports for techinal issues like this, is there a way to open a support ticket ?
    Thank you very much for your time, any help is appreciated !
    Willem

    Hello:
    First I have to apologize for the troubles with CR 11.5 - not sure why that would be, but your frustration is understood. Perhaps sometime in the future we can look at this in another thread (e.g.; it should just work...).
    Anyhow, there is really no compeling reason for you to go to CR 11.5 (there are reasons (see below), but 11.0 is fine with framework 1.1).
    So to start off. Version 11.0.0.895 will need to be updated to SP4. See this|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReports2008%28and9.1%2CXIR1%2CXIR2%29-VersionandDownloadinformationforServicePacks] wiki. As you can see in the wiki, the latest version of CR 11.0 is updated to SP 4 with a version of 11.0.9500.x. Before we even start to look at this, you will have to get to SP4.
    Re. preference for CR 11.5. If the issue is not resolved with CR 11 Service Packed to SP 4, all we have left is; going to CR 11.5 - with the latest SP (SP6) as that is the version I would be testing with. Note that CR 11 is completely out of support now, CR 11.5 is out of patch support (e.g.; no fixes) and any support terminates in June of this year.
    And we have not even started to work the issue. Re-reading your initial post, I am starting to suspect that loading may be the root of the issue here. I'd recommend having a peek at the following:

    I realize I've thrown a lot of info in here, but all of it may apply. In a way I feel like we've ended up across the river without crossing the bridge first, but let's see what comes out of all of this (teleporting worked for Captain Kirk   ).

  • Reducing Windows Background Processes

    I'm in charge of my company's data acquisition system and we've finally got everything running about how we want it to.  The last issue we're having is that whenever the screen updates the program slows down measureably.  I've got the program running in a loop that collects data, processes data, waits for user input, sends out commands to other hardware, and then repeats.  The program is configured to only display one data point (64 channels, plus 5 on a chart and three other numeric gauge indicators) of every 100 collected.  The effect this has is that while the program is not displaying data the loop executes in about 2-3ms, but that time jumps to ~60ms when it has to update the front panel.
    My question is: how can improve the performance of my code on a windows XP system?
    Is there some kind of indicator that I should use over another kind?
    Does anyone have a guide on how to disable windows background processes (the computer the DAQ system is on isn't running much, but I'm not a very advanced user in that area)?
    Any other general tips and tricks for this kind of problem?
    I know the best solution would be to move to a real time operating system, but that just isn't an option right now.  Any suggestions on how to improve performance on the system I've got would be appreciated.

    Some clarifications, as requested.  We're acquiring 32 analog channels and 32 thermocouple channels.  The gauges and chart indicators are just a way of displaying a subset of the data in a more obvious form.  All channels are also displayed in numeric indicators.  The program is set up to run a loop with the following DAQ scheme: calculate a timestamp (relative to the start of the program), acquire a single scan of the analog channels, acquire a single scan of the thermocouple channels, and then do other data processing tasks.  There's no set data rate, we're trying to acquire the data as fast as the program will allow, so the 2-3ms loop times is what we see in the output data file.  One data point will occur at time 0.003, and then next would get the timestamp 0.006.
    Every time the screen is updated, in the post-processing part, the time to execute the whole loop increases dramatically.  In the data file we'd see a point recorded at time 0.006, and then the next one would be at time 0.066 (something to that effect).  Since screen updating seems to be the cause of the slowdown I'm interested in what I can do to get that part to run as fast as possible.
    We're running LabVIEW 7.1, and to get the screen to only update occasionally I have it set to keep a counter going that is incremented each time through the loop.  If the counter gets to the value of 100, then in post-processing the current batch of data is sent to the front panel indicators and the counter is reset to 0.  For all other counter values the data just goes into the output file and the screen indicators are left alone.

  • I want to run java program on windows environment as background process

    Hi all
    I want to run java program on windows environment as background processSo command prompt return after executing java command and program on background In Linux we can do this easily but I do not how to do this in windows
    for example look this programe
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class TestClass {
         class ravi extends Thread{
              public void run(){
                   try {
                        String target_file = "ravind.txt";
                        File targetfile = new File(target_file);
                        PrintWriter writer = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(targetfile)) ;
                   for (int i =0 ; i < 100 ;i++ ){
                        Thread.sleep(10000);
                        writer.println(" ravindra shukla ");
              } catch (Exception e) {
                             e.printStackTrace();
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              TestClass test1 = new TestClass();
              TestClass.ravi r1 = test1.new ravi();
              r1.start();
    System.out.println(" return from main ");
    first i compile this
    javac TestClass.java
    then i run this by using this command
    java TestClass
    but becouse i put sleep on threads run function so it takes to much time to get return on command promt .... i want to run this programe as background process so command promt return as soon as i execute java command

    Thanks dude
    This solution start java TestClass works fine . But it does not solve my problem
    It opens another black window and that black window persist till the life time of my program
    Is it possible application run on complete background without opening another black window as in Linux
