Air Video App Problem

I installed the Air Video app on my iPad, but am having problems with installing the Air Video Server app on my iMac. I downloaded it and the virtual drive appeared on my desktop. I double-clicked on it and the app appeared. I dragged it to the application folder. When I double-clicked on it, I got a warning message saying that it was an application downloaded from the Internet and asked whether I wanted to open it. I clicked open and nothing happened that I could see! When I tried to move it to the trash, I got the message that I couldn't do that because it was open! Help.

Look up in your menu bar by the clock and you should see the Air Video icon. From there you can set its preferences. The reason you can't delete it after running it is because it is truly running (as you can see from the menu bar.) Try setting it up to share a folder with videos in it (from the "Server Preferences" menu item.) Then run the iPad app and point to the shared folder. It really is amazing to have such a wide variety of formats playing on the iPad. I've only played with it briefly, but I do like what I see.

When I stream videos from my laptop onto my Apple TV via my iPad 2 using the Air Video app/server the video plays great however when I pause the video the Apple TV reverts back to the home screen within a few seconds and then when I want to restart watching the video I have to re-buffer the video. Is there any way I can stop the Apple TV from reverting back to the home screen when I pause the video I’m watching?

  • Trying to get my air video app and my airport extreme router to work.

Hi there. I am getting really frustrated and desperate. I just purchased the app "air video" on my iPad. Installed the software on my mac. Works awesome when I'm on MY WIRELESS NETWORK. I didn't think it would be an issue once I left the house and tried to go on someone else's network to connect, but it just won't work. It keeps giving me the error "host not reachable". I tried opening up the air video troubleshooting info and tried everything but nothing seems to work. I tried under the "remote" tab in the air video server preferences. I clicked both "enable access from Internet" and the "auto map port" options. In the box below I just see the word status and the spinning wheel along with "looking for UPnP or NAT-PMP compatible devices" but the wheel has been spinning for about 15 mins. It doesnt appear to be finding anything.
I've also clicked off the "auto map port" to see if that would do anything. I got the pin and tried that. Still nothing. I tried to look for some information on port forwarding for my airport extreme but everything I'm googleing seems to be years out of date.
I am currently on Mac snow leopard 10.6.3 I believe. Everything is latest version. Using comcast modem with apple airport extreme router. Latest version of Air video app and software. On iOS 4.3.1.
Anyone that can try to help me out, I would be eternally grateful.
    Thank you so much
    Keith

  • Latest iPad Video App Problems

Is anyone else having problems with the latest iOS7 video app?
I have spent a lot of time numbering all of my TV Shows carefully (Series Number, Episode Number and Episdoe ID etc)
This used to work perfectly, but now it doesn't.
When I import a whole series of a TV Show, all is fine. The numbering works correctly.
If I then re-sync the iPad, ALL episode number are set to zero on the iPad, even though they are still correct within iTunes.
If I import half a series (for example 1-6) - this is fine - UNTIL I add say 7-12. Then the numbering for 7-12 is OK, but 1-6 all gets set back to zero.
Its really annoying, and i'm sure that its a simple fix. It should've been discovered during testing anyway. I expect more of Apple developers and testers quite honestly.
Also, where is the option to play a whole series of shows like we had before???? I though newer versions of software were supposed to improve the user experioence, NOT take away functionality. As I link my iPad up to a large screen TV, I now have to get up and press 'play' after every episode.
I'm not being lazy, but it's just annoying, when we used to have the option to just let the episodes play one after the other... Or am I just not seeing a hidden button somewhere???

no offense but I hope if apple are reading they will focus on the more show stopper issues some people have rather then a video starting over and showing seen icon incorrectly which at the end of the day must be seen as a minor nuisance compared to people who can't get network connection or other fatal issues

  • Air Video app

I know this isn't about a tablet, but it's about an app for a tablet. Anyway, there is an app I'm curious about, Air Video, which streams video from your computer to your Ipad Iphone, etc. But it doesn't work with videos from the Apple store, so how to i get videos on my computer to begin with?

I have this app and use it a lot. It's mainly for digital copies you get with a DVD or blurry you purchase or with movies you "obtain" from the Internet. Then you tell air video where the videos are located and then as long as you have wifi it will stream them to your ipad
I used to work for Best Buy as an Apple Specialist, but all my comments, posts and opinions are my own and do not in anyway reflect Best Buy. Mostly because I think the exact opposite as Best Buy anyway

  • Air Sharing app problems with updating

There appears to be an unresolved problem in updating the Air Sharing app.:
    http://www.avatron.com/support/read.php?12,2886
Avatron says this is an iPhone software issue:
"I'm afraid sometimes the only way to get around these update lock-ups is to completely restore your phone as a New Phone. You can sync to get your apps back, and if you use MobileMe (.Mac) to sync your contacts, calendar, etc., you'll get that all back too. But there's just something pretty badly broken in the App Store updater. We're all hoping Apple will fix it in the next version of iPhone OS.
    Dave Howell
    Avatron Software, Inc. "
This company had a problem in the past with updating its software, is this an iPhone issue or is it an Avatron issue? It seems odd that if Apple vets these applications and updates, this issue should have been identified and corrected. Now, I have paid for an application I cannot use (either the old version or the updated one).

I had no problem updating. I see others were able to move all their files off the iPhone (in Air Sharing) and then do the update. Others had to take the added step of deleting the application and then re-install.
I would not say this is an Air Sharing only issue. The idea of having to restore a phone to new to get some pesky installs or apps to work has been talked about many times. I have never had to go that route, but many people had to as a last resort.
It could be an Avatron issue, but historically, their app is not the only one that has required such extreme measures. Update 2.1 fixed most app store issues, but some people still report them.

  • 4th Gen Itouch IOS 4.3.1 Video app problems

I just recently updated my 4th gen Itouch to IOS 4.3.1, and was very happy with the additions and improvements until I tried to watch a movie through the videos app. Starting a movie at the beginning, it plays fine except no sound. When I scrub forward to see if this is just some strangeness in the film, it freezes. The play button will flash to pause, but will not play my movie from that point. The movie is in MP4 format and plays fine in Quicktime on my computer through Itunes.
I love my Itouch and I use it for everything. I have really enjoyed having my movies available on long trips or standing in non-moving lines. Is there a solution for this?

This is me replying to myself! I can't believe a million others aren't joining in by now! OK. I had Apple call me again this morning and I told them my daughter's iPod touch is having the same issue with MP4 videos. They still wanted me to wipe my device. So tonight I did just that. Wiped it out and then set it up as a new iPod, then put a new MP4 video on it and it still did the same thing! Please anybody at Apple, test this out! It will fail!
Anyway, just a few minutes ago I tried to setup another "Call me back" with Apple support and their dumb system wouldn't let me pick any days in April! It skipped to May 1st! Geez, what's going on with this company?

  • IPad 2 Video app problems.

I am trying to play a video on the iPad 2, but as soon as I open the app I am greeted by a black screen and cannot play or see the TV shows I bought on iTunes. I have tried restarting and even resetting the iPad and nothing has happened. Does anyone know why?

I've seen this before in another thread - I found it and copied it here for you. You can try this and it might work ....
Fixed the problem by searching a video in spotlight on ipad. Played a portion of the video, hit DONE, then back to videos and all were there again. Quit the app, started the app, and all was well. An obvious app bug.
Open spotlight on the iPad to do a search. (Swipe to the right from the home screen). Type in the name of the movie or video. See if you can tap to open the video from the search as described above, Play for a few minutes - hit done - quit Videos - restart Videos and see if it works now.

  • Quicktime.qts detected as cause for video app problems.

Since installing quicktime 7 I've lost all ability to either work with or encode quicktime files within any video program or otherwise which in some way interprets quicktime .mov footage.
The list includes but is not limited to:
    Adobe Premiere Pro
    Adobe After Effects
    EffectsLab DV
After a program crash I click to see closer details on the crash and windows tells me that the problem likes with the quicktime.qts file. I am currently unaware as to whether this problem has been reported already and if it is a general quicktime 7 issue which will be dealt with in the future.
I've rolled back to QT 6.5 and all functionality is restored. And subsequently lost again after reinstalling QT7.
Is anyone else aware of or experiencing these same problems?

It doesn't help to any great extent that quicktime/apple haven't really acknowledged this. Just to add to my list of products that have conflicting quicktime 7 issues:
Processing (http://www.processing.org) can no longer work with video. Neither webcam or otherwise.
    sighs
Thr guys that made EffectsLab have sorted out the Quicktime 7 issues, apparantly there was just one line of code which caused every problem. Will all the software vendors just have to alter their code to accomodate QT7? I hope not...

  • ATV and Air Video Streaming stopped working

I have been using AIR VIDEO (Standard and HD Version) for months now flawlessly, no issues at all, until the other day any of my devices (iPhones and iPads) will only stream to my ATV's for a few seconds then they cut off and jump back to home screen and the contact starts playing on the device again.
All my devices can see the ATV's no problems there
I am using Air Video Server on a Mavericks iMac and i have iP5, and iP1 (Original), iPad Mini, and also iPad Air - all same problem occurring.
I use the Air Video APP On any of those devices and the same problem occurs.
    I've tried so far:
Uninstall AV Server and the APPS on the Devices
Reset and Restart the ATV's (i have ATV2 and ATV3 by the way)
    Anyone having the same issues?
Could this be Firmware on the ATVs have updated and not allowing this now?
Can i restore the ATV' back to an older Firmware?
They both currently say they are up to date and running the latest software,
    Any help much appreciated....
    James

    could also be network problems
I would try connecting a mac and the appletv by enthernet cable to the router and if it dont have any problems then I would know it was the wifi which was getting interference from another wifi network or other things which operate on the same frequencies (2.4Ghz which is used for wifi apart from 5Ghz is a very very very busy frequency)

  • My iPad Videos App Won't Connect to Shared Library

When I launch the iPad Videos app, then tap on "Shared" and then tap on my library, all I get is a spinning circle.
Admittedly, I do have a large iTunes library, but it shouldn't take this long to load. (Actually, I dont know how long it takes to load, because it has never loaded. I've waited as long as 20 minutes thus far).
The strange thing is that my 3rd-party Air Video app works every time, all the time. Why doesn't the Apple Videos app?
Update: Waited a little longer this time, only to get this error message: "Unable to turn on Home Sharing"

I find that closing iTunes and the Videos App on my iPad Air does not solve the problem.
Even this solution, if it worked would drive me bonkers.  If I wanted to go to my computer I could just watch the video there.  If I wanted to watch the video on my Apple TV I would go watch it there.
Why is it that my Apple TV always flawlessly connects to my shared iTunes library, but my iPad Air never will?  The fact that it works on Apple TV suggests the problem in not my network, my router, my firewall, etc.  It suggests there is a bug with the apps on the iPad.
I too have resigned myself to the fact that AirVideo is the answer.  Sadly though, this doesn't solve my problem with trying to listen to my music library.
I have the exact same experience with my iPhone 5c.  I'm a huge fan of Apple products for several years now after being a detractor.  I am simply left with the feeling that this issue, reported by many users, with many different devices, is not getting the attention it deserves.
    Frustration is setting in....

  • IOS 7.1 Header info (clock batt. etc) is dim in Videos App.

iPad Air Videos App. the header info is dim.

I went to the mall and checked out the store iPad Air with iOS 7.1.  It has the same problem with mine, the music videos sound is louder than movies or tv shows media.

  • My MacBook Air tells me I'm out of memory.  to my knowledge I use only 65 GB for documents, photos, videos, apps, and it tells me that 75 GB is taken by "other"  What is in other, and how can I fix it?

my MacBook Air tells me I'm out of memory.  to my knowledge I use only 65 GB for documents, photos, videos, apps, and it tells me that 75 GB is taken by "other"  What is in other, and how can I fix it?

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
              iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Ignore any other messages that appear in the Terminal window.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.
