Aired Date - US date format only?

Is there a way of showing +Aired Date+ in a date format other than the US one?
US date formats are very confusing and catch you out if you are used to the eminently more sensible DD/MM/YYYY format.
This is particularly annoying when tagging content for the Apple TV with Meta X or Subler, as you have to remember to put the first to two parts of the date in backwards.
I've never understood the US date format as it doesn't flow properly - ie. smallest/bigger/biggest -(the US one is oddly bigger/smallest/biggest)!

Norway (d.m.y; the fraction form d/m-y is common, but incorrect)
Oman
Pakistan (dd/mm/(yy)yy)
Panama
Paraguay
Peru

Here is a list of countries that use MM/DD/YY:
Belize
Canada (Although most official government documents use the yyyy-mm-dd format, the mm/dd/yy format is also understood due to influences from the United States.)
Federated States of Micronesia
Palau
Philippines (when written in English)
United States (civilian vernacular: mm/dd/yy or mm/dd/yyyy; other formats, including dd Month yyyy and yyyy-mm-dd, are common or prescribed—particularly in military, academic, scientific, computing, industrial, or governmental contexts.)
I always find it interesting just how the US proscribe something as being a 'Standard' when what they really mean is that it is way the US does it. In the same way as English is referred to as 'International English' and American English is just called English by American corporations

  • IPhoto only accepts date/month/year format for pics?

    I'm trying to add the dates to many old photos that I have in my iPhoto, version 8.1.2.
    Unfortunately, I have many years of photos in there, and I can't remember exact dates of many photos.
    And so I just want to at least put the month and the year. Or sometimes, I'll just remember the year.
    But iPhoto will only let me use a date/month/year format. Odd.
    Is there any way around this?
    Somehow, many of my old photos that have been transfered from old computers have dates assigned to them that are crazy, like 1960....etc.
    I can just make up a date and a month, but that takes more time, and furthermore it will be wrong info.
    I don't want that.
    It seems silly that I can't just put the year alone.
    Any thoughts?
    thank you!

    it also seems like the albums of photos will use the date of the earliest photo in the album, and the newest photo in the album to create a "from" field and a "to" field, in the "info" section at the bottom left of the application, when the Album is highlighted.
    This means that I have to manually correct every single photo in my albums, so that the album date range will read correctly?
    thanks again...

  • Issue: format / "language" of current Date (in date/time field), javascript only

    Hi,
    I have 2 date fields in my form, which should display the date in differnt format. (yyyy.mm.dd /  dd-mm-yyyy)
    To get the current date I use java script only
    Formular1.p1.date_YYYYmmDD::initialize - (JavaScript, client)
         var date = new Date();
        this.rawValue  =  date.toLocaleDateString();
    My first problem is (red): I get date in English, but I want it in a different language. As it was set in form settings
    My second issue is: how can I format a date/time-filed (not a text field) in javascript with a specific pattern on init-event?
    It seems my code in init-event overrides the pattern configuration of the date/time-field
    Here is my form, if anyone want to check it:
    https://acrobat.com/#d=zeOMyj9MhBdYbVWk8S1pHw

    Hi,
    I think both problems are the same, when setting a date/time field using the rawValue the format always has to be yyyy-mm-dd, if you use any other format the value is just treated as text and displayed without formatting.
    var date = new Date();
    this.rawValue = util.printd("yyyy-mm-dd", date);
    You can also set the formattedValue if you have a date in the correct format.
    var date = new Date();
    var currentLocale = xfa.resolveNode("#localeSet.#locale").name;
    var dateFormat = "date("+currentLocale+"){DD MMM, YYYY}"
    this.formattedValue = util.printd(dateFormat, date, true)
    This code assumes the display pattern is date{DD MMM, YYYY}
    The date format specification is in the XFA Spec http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/xml/index_arch.html

    I need the resulting column in DATE format only. The solution which you specified converts the datatype to character. Is there anyway to convert the format but not the datatype.

    Regards
    MuraliThen read the API docs for SimpleDateFormat (which was suggested in the first reply). When you have the String "100607", then you have a String, not a Date, you use SimpleDateFormat to create a Date using that String as input. Then, you use PreparedStatement and its setDate method, using that Date (or, rather, a java.sqlDate created using getTime from that java.util.Date created by SimpleDateFormat) to execute your sql.

  • Show Current Date in Year Format (and now - 1, etc.)

    Our form has some column headers that need to change each year, the headings are current year (2010) + previous 3 years.  Am trying to programatically add the titles to eliminate modifying the form just to change the year, but not finding how to accomplish, and was checking out some date samples found, but no success yet.  My question is 2 part - how/where do I put code, I don't need the user to enter anything, just want a column header.  This example below is where I copied the idea from a sample and tried to adjust, it's on the calculate event of a date/time field, and I get an error message that says 'the display pattern "date-{MM/DD]" is incompatible with the object's data format.  Define a compatible Display pattern.  This display pattern error is the 2nd part of the question.  How do I display only the 4 digit year?
    year1.rawValue
    = num2date(date(), "YYYY")
    How do I accomplish this - am newbie on this!  Thank you very much!

A: Show Current Date in Year Format (and now - 1, etc.)

1) I typically use a hidden field to capture the current date on the layout:ready event.
2) If year1 is a date object  your script is valid but you are probably missing the display pattern date{YYYY} on year1.
If year1 is a text field you could could capture current year in a hidden field as
// form1.page1.currentYear::ready:layout - (FormCalc, client)
$.rawValue = Num2Date(Date(), "YYYY")
where currentYear has the display pattern date{YYYY} and add
this.rawValue = form1.page1.currentYear.rawValue;
to the calculate event of year1.

  • Date and time formatting not responding

    I'm trying to total a column based on a date or date window.  My formula looks like this.
    SUMIF(Date,B1,'$')
    I have 2 tables.  The table with the formula references the other table, and compares Date in table 1 to B1 in table 2.  B1 is a date I enter to see a specific total for that day only.  It only works if all the times of the date window are 12:00:00 AM.  , and the B1 times are the same ..... Even though times are unimportant to the totals I need, and both are formatted to "none" and do. It show.
    So, how do I total a specific date with various times, but all the same date?  I have a sample file if it will make more sense to see it.
    Not that it matters, but I am doing this on an iPad, but the formula still did not respond correctly on Mavericks either.  Unless I set all times equal to B1.
    Sorry if I didn't explain very well.  I'm new at this formula thing.
    Thanks
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
    The entered date in B1 will have it's time part set to 00:00:00 (midnight, at the beginning of that date). To use SUMIF to filter the date and time values in Table 1, you would need to write a single condition that would accept all date and time values falling on the date in BI, and reject all date and time values falling on days before or after that date.
    SUMIFS allows you to specify multiple conditions, all of which must be met to acept a test value and add its associated sum value to the total. Here's an example:
    The formula in B1 of Table 2 is shown below:
    B2: =SUMIFS(Table 1 :: B,Table 1 :: $A,">="&B1,Table 1 :: $A,"<"&(B1+1))
    Syntax: =SUMIFS(sum-values,test-values,condition,test-values,ˆcondition)

  • Issue with Saving the Query output data in Excel format

    Hi,
    Recnetly we had upgraded from 4.6c to ECC 6.0.
    In ECc 6.0 environment, when user try to export the query output , we are getting only XML option to save the data.
    But user want to save the data in EXcel format, he was able to do that in 4.6C.
    pleas eprovide some inputs, on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sanketh.

    I cannot for the life of me imagine, why a link to a post in the 'Business One Forum' where one uses ODBC to transfer query-data to MicroSoft Excel is of relevance to the OPs question, even if the same is not a security issue.
    Never mind. [note 40155|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/402155] deals with various symptoms in the ALV-Excel combination as as of release 4.6C. There are various others, mostly in components BC-SRV-ALV and BC-ABA-LI - also: I remember that when we upgraded from 4.5B to 4.7C there was an issue with Excel-templates -> the solution was in the release notes somewhere. So, in addition to SMP you might want to check the release notes and/or upgrade guide for solutions.
    And yes, moderators ... this is not a security issue, this should go to ECC-Applications/Upgrade.

  • How to convert a date field with format (dd,mm,yyyy) to format (mm,dd,yyyy)

    Hello.
    How to convert a date field with format (dd,mm,yyyy) to format (mm,dd,yyyy)
    I have text field which has a databind to a date field. When I click on it, we can select the date, it is added on the format (dd,mm,yyyy). When I want to insert this date field to a database It doesnu2019t allow me to do it because it will only accept date field on the format (mm,dd,yyyy)
    I tried to store this format on a date variable and I get a message saying that is impossible to convert a string into a date.
    Regards,
    Jose

    Hi Jose,
    usually you format strings in c# like
    string.Format("{0:yyyyMMdd}", insertyourstring);
    in your case
    string.Format("{0:MM/dd/yyyy}", insertyourstring);
    [look here|http://idunno.org/archive/2004/14/01/122.aspx]
    there are more details
    if everything fails split the string with Mid()

  • How to read data from PC format external disk, using Labview MAC

    Hi folks,
    For years I have not been able to read data files from a PC formatted (created) external disk, using Labview for Mac. More specifically:
     - I have Labview 7.01 running on OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerBook G4
     - I have a 500GB external USB/firewire disk that was formatted on a PC and has data files (custom format) that were created on the PC. I believe that C code actually creates the files, but Labview 7/PC opens the files and appends some info (I don't think the fact that C or Labview touches the files is actually relevant to this issue though).
     - I can connect the 500 GB disk to my mac, and it will mount just fine and OS X can see all of the data files (and anything else on the disk).
     - if I use my Labview app to open and read a data file it fails:
           - open/create/replace.vi (with read-only access) shows a file dialog window that lets me navigate to any file on the external disk.
           - but, the vi returns an error 7
     - if I use OS X to copy the data file to my Mac disk, my Labview app works fine.
    So, does anyone know if:
     - I'm just doing something wrong in my Mac Labview app?
     - Labview 7.x solves this problem?
     - Labview 8/Mac solves this problem?
     - OS X 10.5 solves this problem; with Labview 7 or 8; or does OS X 10.5 worsen the problem?
    Thanks, in advance...

    Hi kehander,
    Thanks for the reply. I tried filling a constant path with the Mac-defined path to a data file on the USB disk (ie "DATA2:file1.dat"). This resulted in the same error message.
    I then considered that maybe I was misinterpreting the LV error message, and that perhaps I was supposed to address the file using PC-notation (ie. "DATA2\file1.dat"), even though the app is running on a Mac. No joy with this, but I get a different error msg:
    "Error 1430 occurred at Open File
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  The path is empty or relative. You must use an absolute path."
    Can you share what your reasoning was for your suggestion... I'm not sure I understand why a constant path would produce different results?

  • ESS services date and time format?

    Hi,
    How can we change the date and time format displayed on some of the ESS services like addresses, LR screen?  Currently I see US format date MM/DD/YYYY and time is in european format 12,50 instead of dot(.).
    I tried changing the browser setting to UK but it didn't work.  Any other suggestion please?
    Thanks
    Praveen

    I tried to create a simple WD application with just date control UI element, I can see the date format is displayed based on my browser setting.  If I change it to US in my browser locale, it date format changes to US date format, if I change it to UK locale the date format is UK based.
    Only my ESS/MSS applications are always displayed as US format.  I checked at the iView level and I can only see ForcedRequestLanguage but I cannot see ForcedRequestCountry property so I'm unable to set any country specific details here.  When I look at the JCo connection language tab, I see the
    Current locale: en
    Default VM locale:  en_US
    I think this is where change is required.  However I changed following JCo languages from en to en_UK but still no luck
    SAP_R3_HumanResources
    SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData
    Backend is checked as posted above.
    I checked below which is the second precendence in determining locale
    Portal mandatory locale -- open file prtDefault.properties on server under
    /usr/sap/<SID>/JC#/j2ee/cluster/server#/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/web-inf/portal/system/properties/
    I cannot find below mandatory parameters in the prtDefault.properties file
    request.mandatorylanguage
    request.mandatorycountry
    However, I found this
    request.defaultlanguage=en
    request.defaultcountry=us
    Is this something I can change?  Or should I replace or should I add mandatoryLanguage/country?
    Can this file be edited through NWA or should this file be edited manually at the file system level?
    Please advice.

    Hello Experts,
    Could someone please help me to fix the following issue with DATE AND TIME format.
    I have two info objects zdate with data type DATS (length 8) and ztime with data types TIMS (length 6).
    The data in the data source (alalertdb table) is in the format of date dd.mm.yyyy and time in hh:mm:ss.
    Now when i am trying to extract the data, the load is failing because the system is taking dd.mm.yyyy length as 10 and hh:mm:ss length as 8. My infoobject
    only alows 8 for date and 6 for time.
    Do I need to write any routines in the transfer rules? If yes please share the code.
    All the inputs are much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your inputs.
    Adios, I will try your routine if I am not tru with the formula. Thank you very much for your reply.
    Bjorn, Your formula sounds quite simple. can you please eloberate the information.
    When I used the formula for the date field its giving me an error with message FORMULA ELEMENT IS NOT ALLOWED HERE.
    Formula I used is:
    LEFT( 2, < /BIC/ZOOH_DATE> ) & SUBSTRING( < /BIC/ZOOH_DATE>, 3, 2 ) & RIGHT( 4, < /BIC/ZOOH_DATE> )
    can you also please let me know what results the formula brings.
