Aironet 1310, power injector and poe cable

Hello,
Can the power injector delivered with aironet 1310 be supplied by a PoE RJ45 cable rather than the traditionnel DC adapter?
The problem is, i thought Aironet 1310 was PoE. Which means it can be power supplied by a rj45 cable.
But, when i openned my brand new 1310 box, i realized that 1st, it needs that Power Injector to work and that 2nd, Power injector needs a power supply...
Usually when i buy a PoE access point, I just plug in my PoE rj45 cable and its power supplied :)
Anyway, i hope there's an issue for this because where the 1310 should be placed, there's only a PoE rj45 cable arriving.

Sadly the 1310 cannot be powered by PoE ,but, the Power Injector can be up to 100 meters away from the unit.

Aironet 1310 Bridge, delay and timeout problem

Hi,
We have 3 Aironet 1310 Wireless Bridge. 1 of them is Root bridge, others non-root and Workgroup bridge. Normally ping delays are 6-7 ms avarage, but somedays 200-300 ms and timeouts. I dont understand what is the reason. Any other wireless telephone? or other 2.4 Ghz antenna? or ground voltage of buildings? 1 of the non-root bridge's configuration is at the attachment.

Sparkles1 was able to help me by pointing me to the manual of this laptop and so I could find the correct part numbers.
So far all went well but as soon as I tried to order them I ran into a (brick)wall. HP themselves do not seem to be able or willing to supply them, their (prefered) partners are pretty useless too!! If I go to HP USA I can find both parts, put them in my shoppingcard but than ofcourse I get dropped back to HP Europe (Belgium to be precise) and ther it all goes cold....
Anyone any suggestions how to get these 2 fairly simple parts? This is getting very silly and I am getting angry....

Strange noises when ipod touch power plugged and headphones cable connected

Hi everybody,
this is my first post. It has been annoying me for a long time now.
The thin is, when I plug in the ipod via charger or USB cable and I want top listen to music while it charges i get this crackling noise and a high pitch one as background atmosphere which is ok if you listen to loud music but very annoying if you listen to calm music.
I want to connect it to my stereo and i found out that when I disconnect the power cable its allright. When I put the audio cable on the metal sufrace I just get the crackling noise without the pitch and when its plugged into usb and connected to my ipod I can modify the noise when i scroll on the touchpad. Its like scraching on vinyls but not cool.
I don't know what to do. I mean sometimes you want to listen to music AND charge your ipod right?
Has this happend to anyone?

Well thanks for pointing me to that feature, I didn't notice it before, but nobody there really has the same problem.
They are complaining about not being able to charge and listen at the same time. This is histroy since iOS5.
I shure can listen to my music. And for example via bluetooth its no problem being connected and listen to music, even while I sychronize. But if I plug in the audio jack, and have the ipod charging I get this noises.
I hope the problem is now more precisely described.

Power plugs and extension cable queries

Hi,
I am using a Netgear router with the Open reach modem for Infinity 2. Where they are located at the master socket I have 2 electric points. I have a 5 plug extension cable in one for router, table lamp etc. I read that the modem should not be plugged into a plug extension cable so I have the modem plugged into the second electric point. I wish to use my hh3 as a WiFi range extender upstairs via powerplugs. As you're not meant to plug powerplugs into extension cables I'll need to put the modem into the extension lead. Is that a really bad thing to do?
Will it matter that my Netgear throws out 5 and also 2.4ghz but the hh3 as the WiFi range extender is 2.4 only?
Is there a step by step on how to set the hh3 up as a WiFi range extender? I've Googled it but can't really see anything simple.

Try the powerline adapters and see if they work.
It will not matter if your Netgear uses both bands, just make sure its on a different wifi channel that the HH3 extension.
This guide should help, just setup the slave part, as the master is your Netgear router.
If your Netgear router uses a different subnet than the home hub, you will either have to change it, or alter the HH3 setting to match it, as both have to on the same subnet. It may be easier to change the Netgear, as the home hub can be a bit temperamental when you start changing IP ranges

Aironet 1100 / 802.3af Power Over Ethernet (POE) Support

I was under the impression that the Aironet 1100 supports 802.3af POE. I purchased a NetGear FS108P POE switch, however, when I plug in the 1100, it does not receive any power.
I have seen references in the documentation to a Cisco inline power injector and a Cisco Catalyst switch that can provide POE to the 1100 and maybe they will work, however, will the 1100 only work with those devices?? If so, it would seem that the 1100 really doesn't support the 802.3af standard and that Cisco's implementation of POE is proprietary.
Any input would be appreciated.

As you have discovered (unfortunately) is that the 1100 only supports Cisco Pre-standard PoE :( Have a look;

The good news is that either of the options you listed will work just fine. I would go for the power injector probably just for neatness sake.

Aironet Power injector LR2

Hello,
I have a few Aironet Power injector LR2's that are new and I'm trying to config for the first time. Im using the console cable with no luck - Com1 9600 8 none 1 none???? Very strange that it is not connecting on any of them - even tried a different cable. I get no display through hyperterm except maybe for a few symbols/chars. Tried the Ethernet port, checked dhcp server and did not show the device. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If it is the 1310 power injector as Rob has linked above, then that power injector requires the 1310 to be attached to it for configuration. Basically, the power injector provides the ports (network/console) to the 1310 which only has the dual coax going to it.
If you have a 1310 attached and you are not able to configure it via network or the console cable then you really have a problem. Otherwise, just know the power injector require no configuration to interface with the AP it was designed for.

BR1310 power injector red when power is removed, and restored.

Have a set of BR1310G-A-K9-R with AIR-PWRINJ-BLR2 injectors, feed by P/N 34-1537-02 REVA0.
If 1310 connected to injector, powered by the transformer (mentioned above)when power applied, red light between power plug and coax connector is red, no lights on back of 1310. If I then disconnect the power plug from the injector, and reconnect, same light turns green.
Any suggestions? I didn't purchase the equipment, perhaps the parts listed above are not compatible?

Check for loose connections.the maximum distance between BR1310 and power injector is 100m.If this doesnt work Try to replace the power injector and see if it works.Perhaps replacing the power injector mostly would resolve.

Multiple Aironet 1310 AP's / One Wirless Network / How To???

I have been given six AiroNet 1310 access points and would like to create on one unified wireless network using some or all of them.
I am wondering what would be the best direction to start this. I assume they would have to be in some sort of "cluster" mode.
I guess whatever would be the easiest way to implement this would be what i am looking for.
The reason i need to do this is because it will be for a courthouse, we want to cover pretty much the entire building, (3 stories) and also outside.
Any suggestions, help, or how to do this would be appreciated. Thanks.
Oh and i know the AP's will need to get addresses from somewhere, so i planned to hook them into the existing network and give them static IP's, which is also where the network and internet parts come into play for the clients once this is up and running.

If you need to configure the access point/bridge locally (without connecting the access point/bridge to a wired LAN), you can connect a PC to the Ethernet port on the long-reach power injector using a Category 5 Ethernet cable. You can use a local connection to the power injector's Ethernet port much as you would use a serial port connection.
Make sure that the PC you intend to use is configured to obtain an IP address automatically, or manually assign it an IP address within the same subnet as the access point/bridge IP address. For example, if you assigned the access point/bridge an IP address of 10.0.0.1, assign the PC an IP address of 10.0.0.20.

Aironet 1310 Antenna question

ive got a question about the antenna of the aironet 1310. is there any difference between AIR-BR1310G-E-K9 and AIR-BR1310G-E-K9-R in basic configuration?
we had a bridge between 2 AIR-BR1310G-E-K9. but the non-root bridge went broken due its age. (connector pin was broken and couldnt get it out)
we had an AIR-BR1310G-E-K9-R on spare, so we only replaced the antenna but we coulnd not get a connection between the 2. diddnt change to power injector or config.
after som fiddling with the broken antenna we managed to get the pin out. changed the wire between the antenna and power injector and placed it back. and it worked like a charm.
so does anyone has an awnser for me? add 2 pictures. the only difference i can see are the 2 extra ports on the K9-R.

The 'R' at the end is supposed to specify that it's the model with RP-TNC connectors for an external antenna. The model without the R should have an internal antenna.

Power injectors don't work with APs

Has someone got experience on cisco power injectors for Aironet APs.
I bought 3 injectors, and 3 power supplys(injectors need power supply, but don't come with the boxes) from cisco.
I connected a switch(2960) port to the port ‘to network’ on the power injector, and connected a AP(1142N) Ethernet port to the port ‘to Device’ on the power injector.
The power injector was powered on by the DC supply. But the AP couldn't be powered on by the injector, and the switch port also showed 'noconnect'.
No particular commands setup on the switch port’s settings. I tried the switch port auto-auto and 100-full, Vlan access and trunk, but no luck with the injectors.
Connected the same power supply to the same AP, used the same switch port and same cables, the AP worked fine with the switch.
Thought of faulty injector, but it's weird that all 3 new purchased injectors are faulty.
Am I doing anything wrong? do I need to put any commad on switch interface to use power injector?(I cannot believe that) or just had bad luck of having 3 faulty injectors?

1410 ethernet uplink LED is off on power injector

I have a pt-to-pt wireless bridge consisting of two 1410 bridges operating over a 7 km link. It worked great until after approx. 2 weeks of operation it suddenly went down. The ethernet uplink led on the root's power injector was off with green injector status and ethernet activity led's. Tried power cycling, hard reset to factory defaults, and swapping injector and ethernet cables, power injectors, and radios with no luck. The consistent point of failure was the root bridge radio.
After receiving replacement 1410, the link operated for about 3 weeks, but now the same thing has occurred (dark uplink activity light with green status and ethernet activity lights on power injector).
Seems a bit unlikely that the same hardware error (if this was really the initial problem) would occur again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A 7Km link I'm guessing is outdoors. The same radio in the same spot only lasting a couple of weeks...my first guess would be weatherproofing.
How do you have the bridges set up physically?
Are they outdoors or do they run low loss cable up a tower? Are they grounded to the common earth ground? Lightning arrestors (Static Arrestors!) things like that.
What weather proofing has been done if any?
