Aironet 350 Wireless Bridge Problem
I have inherited a wireless link between two building that used a pair of Aironet 350 wireless bridges. I say used because one took a lightning strike and is fried. I need to see the configuration on the remaining bridge to set up the new bridge but no one knows the user name or password to access the remaining functioning 350. How do I reset this old buzzard? I have tried all the instructions I have found on this site and others. There is no reset button. I found this out by disassembling another Aironet 350 we had which has also taken a strike. I cannot set up the new 1300 without knowing the config of what it will be talking to. I have been able to connect to the 350 with a serial cable and I can see some of the information. But the only thing I get is the ip address for fe0. I have attached the file I captured to this post. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
If you know the IP of the 350, put a laptop on the same subnet and use a crossover cable to web to its GUI. VxWorks CLI sucks!
If you can get hold of a pair of 1231 APs, they can be configured to run in bridge mode and use the same antennas as the 350s. Benefits are IOS and G radios.

Aironet 1300 wireless Bridges connection loss, help!
Hi,
We have 2 Cisco Aironet 1300 wireless bridges with yaggi antennas.
The connection drops sometimes (every 2 or 3 days) and never comes up again.
When we reboot the non-root bridge the connection works again. We swapped the complete unit but still the same.
For logs see attached file.
What can be the problem? The antennas are not aligned correctly?
Thx in advance
greetings,
MarcHow long is the path and what were the results of the survey?
Were the connectors waterproofed?
Please describe the sytem from the bridge to the antenna including cable type, length, path, outdoors, indoors etc. -

I have a 1310 wireless bridge....when I power it up, it sometimes does not boot up. The I LED will just sit there and blink and the R and E LEDs will blink in unison with it. After a while just the I LED blinks. I cannot find any literature that tells me if this is an error code or not.
Also, when the thing does boot up, it tells me that the Radio interface is down and disabled, when in fact if you go into the settings of the radio interface, it is selected to be enabled.
What might be going on here?
Thank you.No, there is nothing on the console port when the thing is in the condition described above.
If I do get a successful boot, I can then access via a console port. I may try to reinstall firmware and see if that fixes the problem.
So you are saying the radio link will show as disabled/down until it actually tries to associate/authenticate with another bridge unit? That is normal? -
WRT610N router and a WET610N wireless bridge problems
I purchased a WRT610N router and a WET610N wireless bridge and have had a major hard time to get them to work together. The router setup went fine. Internet works perfectly on several machines and devices. The bridge on the other hand has been a big issue. I keep getting "Error 105" when the wizard trys to search for the bridge on the network. This search happens 2 or 3 times during the setup, and it has failed repeatedly at each instance. Sometimes it lets me go a bit further, but it's never completed. I called support, and they didn't know much about it, then we got disconnected and the second guy didn't "have the skills to work with that device" and the first guy appearantly didn't update the notes. I exchanged the bridge, but the second has fared no better. I'm now thinking it might be the router. One thing that leads me to that is the connection button never seems to initiate any proceedures on the router. I can hold that thing down for two minuets and the lights never get going. Anyone have any experience with these?
You have to make sure that your router is running it's latest firmware...
Download Firmware 7.27 MB...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful" After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
After re-configuring the router you need to configure the Bridge, to configure the Bridge you have to make sure, Wireless Settings on the Bridge and the Router are exactly identical so that they can effectively communicate with each other...Your Bridge should be assigned Static IP Address of 192.168.1.250, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0...Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1(Assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...After setting up your Bridge you should unplug the Router and then the Bridge, wait for a minute and connect the router first, wait for another minute and then connect your Bridge...It should work... -
WRT54Gv3 Wireless bridge Problem
I seem to be having an issue bridging my wireless router. I have high gain antennas installed and recently flashed to DD-WRT firmware. At first, no problem. Wireless and wired both worked. Then Wireless worked and i could get to settings with 192.168.1.1. but wired wasn't connecting. I would get a connection error and 192.168.1.1 did not work. Now, I can connect wired, but no global icon for internet. and wireless comes up with 3 different names on site survey. sometimes its the network name (linksys) , sometimes the name of the router(Midian), and sometimes the name that USED to be the router name (linksys 2). I cannot find "linksys 2" anywhere on the router setup(192.168.1.1), so i do not understand why it only sometimes comes up! Shouldn't i be able to connect to the (bridged) router wirelessly even if i dont have a signal from the main router? I didn't change any settings from when both wireless and wired worked, and now, where i can only connect to the router wired. Wireless disapeared!
Thanks in advance,
DTMAs you have already uploaded the DD-WRT firmware on your Router, and using the Router in a Bridge Mode. To make your Router work in a Bridge Mode, first thing which you need to check the Wireless Settings of your Primary Router. Make sure you have assign a Unique name to the Wireless Network and Set the channel to 11 to avoid any kind of Interference and let the SSID Broadcast should be Enable and the Security Level Which you have setup on your Primary Router.
Then on your WRT54G Router, you need to search for the Wireless Network of your Primary Router and then connect to it using the Security Key which you have set on the 1st Router and make sure that both the Router have a Different IP address. By Default the Linksys Router Default IP address is 192.168.1.1, Make sure both the Router has different IP address.
If your 1st Router IP address is 192.168.1.1 then you need to change the LAN IP of the Linksys Router to 192.168.1.2. These will make your both the Routers to work and the computers connected to the Linksys Router will be able to go Online (Wired / Wireless). -
Ping - Telnet Not Traversing Aironet C1310 Wireless Bridge
aironet root-bridge <----> aironet non-root-bridge10.80.254.3/28 <----> 10.80.254.4/28
The bridges are associated and devices (pc, voip, printer) on the non-root side can access the network on the root side.
I can ping and telnet to devices on the same side of each bridge, but not accross the bridges.
This is probabably a simple fix, but I'm really stumped and would greatly appreciate the input.

Aironet 350~~ Help Factory Settings must be RESTORED
Hello,
I am the proud and happy new owner of the Cico Aironet 350 wireless access point. Now the issue (acquired by the company's buyout of another one), needless to say when I get it there is no username/passwords included. Just the cable/power supply and the wireless access point it self. Has anyone here ever worked with this unit before and if you have, do you know how to reset to the factory defaults?Hi Joshua,
Here is the method to do a factory reset;
Reset the AP 350 That Runs Cisco IOS Software
Complete the steps in this section in order to reset an AP 350 that runs Cisco IOS Software.
Note: Cisco IOS Software-based APs have a default configuration that includes a username and password combination. Both the username and password are "Cisco", which is case-sensitive. After you reset to factory defaults, be prepared to give "Cisco" as both the username and password when you are prompted by either the GUI or the CLI.
The AP350 does not have a MODE button to reset the AP to factory defaults. So, if neither the GUI or CLI is available with sufficient privileges in the AP350, complete these steps to delete the current configuration and return all access point settings to the factory defaults using the CLI.
Reboot the access point by removing power and reapplying power. Let the access point boot until the command prompt appears and the access point begins to inflate the image. When you see these lines on the CLI, press ESC: Loading "flash:/" ...########################################################################### ################################################################################ ################################################################################ ####################
Once you press ESC, this information is displayed on the CLI screen..

Aironet 350 WAP + IP Scheme Change
Hello,
I have an Aironet 350 Wireless Access Point running VxWorks 11.07. We had it working fine on our 172.23.0.X IP address schema where the Ethernet and AP Radio shared the same IP address.
We have recently moved to a 10.121.40.X IP address schema and so I made very simple changes to the network configuration of the WAP (IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS). However, now I can't get any devices to connect to the WAP even though I know they did before with the old IP address schema. I've even tried the WAP on DHCP and the result is the same.
What can I do to get this WAP working again? Is it something to do with the 10.121.40.X range?
Thanks. The clients are trying to connect but in Windows don't get to the 'Acquiring network address' stage.
After a failed connection attempt the VxWorks 'Associations' page lists the client device but the 'State' is 'UnAuth'.
The WAP Event Log shows a lot of the following type of entries but nothing else:

"Restart Now" IOS command for 1310 Wireless Bridge
I have 2 Cisco Aironet 1310 wireless bridges setup, line-of-sight, 3/4 mile apart, one as Root, the other as Non-Root. Occasionally they drop their connection but a hard restart of either or both bridges will reestablish the connection. What is the equivalent IOS command to the
"GUI > System Software > System Configuration > Restart Now" command? I would like to be able to telnet to either/both units and issue/script the appropriate command.the command is "reload"

Hi all,
is it possible to create a wireless bridge between 2 AP of different brands?
I need to create a bridge between an Aironet 1240 and a Telecom Italia router (Alice Gate VoIP 2 Plus Wi-Fi), where
the Alice Gate is the AP and the aironet works in the workgroup mode.
At home I tried with the Aironet and a Thomson st585: when aironet tries to connect to the ssid, the thomson ap reloads.
In Aironet logs I find : "Parent lost : too many requests"
What does it mean?dancampb is right. There isn't a standard for wireless bridging so interoperability between vendors is very low.
I have tried the following 3 tests.
1. Set Cisco Aironet 1242 as the root AP and Cisco Aironet 1231 as the wireless work bridge. No problem with all encryption methods like WEP, WPA WPA2.
2. Set Linksys WRT310N as the root AP and Cisco Aironet 1242 as the wireless work bridge. Tried WPA2, can't associate.
3. Set Belkin54g as the root AP and Cisco Aironet 1231 as the wireless work bridge/repeater. Open method, can't associate.
As far as I know, if you can flash both the AP and the Bridge with the same firmware like DD-WRT, then you have a big chance to successfully associate them.
Hope the above tests help. -
Problem configuring wireless bridge
Don't know of this is the right forum, but no doubt someone will put me right if it isnt...
I'm trying to get my son's hand-me-down G4 Powermac on to our home's wireless network. I bought a Belkin wireless bridge. I can log in to the router, select it and provide the encryption details. The network panel tells me I am connected to the internet via Ethernet, green light. But Safari tells me I am not connected to the internet. I'm using manual config, with the bridge's IP address and quoted Subnet mask. But if I try to enter the router's IP address, I get a message saying that address is not in this computer's subnet. I've got two other macs using the network, so I don't understand why this should be so tricky?
What do I need to do to make the router part of this computer's subnet??!Specifically, it's an F5D7330. I had it in the box for about a year while the missus and me dithered about whether the boy should have his own web access, but he's 16 now and keeps doing his homework on the house Mac when we want to read about the latest banking collapse...
So I connect the bridge up, switch it on and use a browser to access the bridge's setup menu. It sees our router and i set the encryption.
Then I go to the Ethernet window in Network Preferences on the G4 (an old 450dp, running 10.4.11) and set Config IPv4 to Manual. I type in the IP address as instructed in the bridge startup guide, 192.168.2.201, and the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. At this stage when I check the network status it's showing a green light and tells me I'm connected to the internet via Ethernet, IP address as just typed in. But Safari tells me I'm not connected to the Internet. If I go to the troubleshooting link on the Safari page, it shows green lights for the top two, ISP (the middle one) is slowly alternating green and red, and the bottom two options are red.
So I think that maybe I should enter the router's IP address where prompted in the network prefs - 192.168.0.1 - but when I do this I get a message saying that this address isn't part of the computer's subnet.
I'm afraid I was on the outer limits of my knowledge when I was accessing the Bridge's setup menu. I don't really know much about IP addresses, I am merely obeying orders. All this talk of subnets and such has me completely baffled. But it can't be that hard, surely?
I suppose my question is, do I have to change the IP address of my son's G4 to link to the router, which is already talking to two other Macs in the house? And if so, could someone very kindly suggest how to do it and what it should be! Or if not, I'd be really grateful if someone could explain in simple terms what the problem might be and how I might correct the issue.
I did try the Belkin site but it was a long way short of helpful. Hope someone can help out.
Thanks -
Wireless Bridge by Aironet 3700i
I'd like to connect two network by using two Aironet 3700i APs like
NW1 -- AP1 -- AP2 -- NW2
I want to confirm that this is possible by simply setting AP1 = Root Bridge and AP2 = Non-Root Bridge.
I also want to confirm that this is possible even when AP2&NW2 are moving and connect to AP1 temporarily. When you configure AP2 as workgroup bridge, then it will act as a wireless client. So it will associate to any normal AP (other AP no need to be the root bridge). Also you can modify the roaming behaviour so it will roam to different AP like any other client when moving. You can refer this to configuration options available on this
http://mrncciew.com/2013/07/24/wgb-roaming-part-1/
You can configure multiple vlan with WGB & you can refer below for that
http://mrncciew.com/2013/06/16/ios-ap-wgb-with-multiple-vlan/
If it is does not require that sort of roaming & always you will align with AP1 then you can configure it as Root Bridge & Non-Root-Bridge. Here is a reference configs for a wireless bridge

We have a site with couple of consumer level bridged AP's. We have been recommended a Cisco 1410 wireless bridge but it is very expensive. What are the added features of this bridge and is someone using it? We originally were thinking of replacing the AP's with cisco 1231 AP's and bridging them as it would be cheaper.
Is there a benefit to using a 1410?The Cisco Aironet 1400 Series Wireless Bridge is the premier high-speed, high-performance outdoor bridging solution for line-of-sight applications, providing features such as:
a) Support for both point-to-point or point-to-multipoint configurations
b) Industry leading range and throughput, supporting data rates up to 54 Mbps
c) Enhanced security mechanisms based on 802.11 and 802.11i standards
d) Ruggedized enclosure optimized for harsh outdoor environments with extended operating temperature range
e) Integrated or optional external antennas for flexibility in deployment
f) Designed specifically for ease-of-installation and operation
More information on the 1400 bridge is available in the data sheet at http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps5279/products_data_sheet09186a008018495c.html -
Aironet 350 Bridge associations
Hi,
I have 2 aironet 350 bridges that keep disassociating and then reassociating constantly. Is there any way to stop this form happening?Parent is "Root Bridge", end station is "Non-root bridge w/out clients." Thanks for pointing me to the Express setup page--that's the one I had in mind, but I haven't been there since day one. Now I need to figure out why, with those settings, it's allowing client connections...
The only MAC address filtering I see is (per documentation) "allow or disallow the forwarding of unicast or multicast packets either sent from or addressed to specific MAC addresses." When I look at the actual Address Filters page, it only allows me to specify "Dest Address." Not much help if I don't want to allow other connections *to* the bridge...
When I'm not in Express Setup, and go to the Setup page, I have the option at the bottom of the page (Network Ports | Bridge Radio or Network Ports | Root Radio) to go to an Advanced page. While there, I see a field called "Radio Cell role." The Root Radio Advanced page shows the Radio Cell role as "Access Point / Root." The other options would be "Client/Non-root" and "Repeater/non-root." The Bridge Radio Advanced page shows the role as "client/non-root." I am *assuming* that the Root radio here, although called an "access point" is not an access point for clients (i.e., its role is that of the access point for the far end(s) of the bridge).
I can't find anyplace to stop broadcasting the SSID...
Thanks for the help!
