Airplay streaming stops when you turn off the iPad screen

Hi All,
If you are streaming something from your iPad using Airplay, and you hit the button to turn off the iPad screen, it seems that the streaming stops...
Is there any way to fix that?  I mean, if you are watching a long video, for example, you don't want your iPad to remain on the whole time.
Any advice?
- Thanx

Jon-
You are saying the AirPlay App does not work when the iPad goes to sleep.  Other Apps do, including the Music App, so you might expect AirPlay to work as well.
Another limit may be the timer setting at Settings-General-Auto Lock.  Mine is set to 5 Minutes by default.  You may need to set yours to Never, to keep the iPad from sleeping while streaming.
I suggest you provide feedback to Apple at <iPad Feedback>.

  • When you turn on the ipad2 it does not start up properly.  The rotating disk that happens when you turn off the ipad appears after the apple logo comes up

When you turn on the ipad2 it does not start up properly.  The rotating disk that happens when you turn off the ipad appears after the apple logo comes up during start-up and stays there for ten minutes.  Then, the ipad will start up properly.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Documents uploaded to icloud disappear when I turn off the IPAD

documents uploaded to icloud disappear when I turn off the IPAD,I can see the documents only when icloud is open on the PC

When you turn off any device, it will disconnect from the internet. My sense is that you're not quite explaining what's happening. Do you mean that when you turn it back on again it doesn't automatically reconnect? Do you mean the if it just goes to sleep (as opposed to being powered off) that it switches from WiFi to cellular? Or are you saying that you think that when you turn off the iPad, the router disconnects?
If you're trying to say that the iPad disconnects from WiFi when asleep and switches to cellular, the solution is to keep it plugged into a power source.
    Best of luck.

  • My new ipod nano does not  work when you turn off the computer

I bought a new iPod but I have a problem when you turn off the computer does not work. Shows that the battery is full and it was lightning. Ipod only works while connected to your computer. What should I do

    Hello pepi95,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you just bought the nano, why not bring it back for a replacement or your money back? It's definitely a defective iPod. Not much else for options here. Sorry.

Bought an iPod nano for use in an external source to the unit of the BMW. It works, but don't remember the place when you turn off the power and every time begins to play the playlist first.

    Thanks iPod Whisperer--
I do realize that the nano will resume where I left off in my audiobook if I reload the file that was last playing.
What I was hoping is that the 6g nano would work like my previous iPods and default to the last file played the next time played after Iused sleep mode instead of going to some random song on the iPod.
Since I usually have a lot of audiobooks on my iPod--and most of those have 10-15 files in them, it's a pain to have to navigate to the correct file (and try to remember which of the 10-15 files I was last playing). On all my other iPods I could simply hit play and it would start up in the audiobook right where it left off.
Note--this only happens if I use the sleep timer to turn off the iPod. If I pause the book myself, when I turn the iPod back on it'll "remember" what file it was playing.
    Hope this makes sense.

  • Turning off the iPad screen when synchronizing with the iTunes

Quick question: How do I turn off the iPad screen when synchronizing with the iTunes. Is this even possible? Are there settings I am overlooking? Or perhaps a third-party app which can make it happen?
I have a large library and often leave my iPad connected to iTunes for several hours at a stretch. The bright glowing screen can be a big distraction, and, more importantly I am very worried about pixel burn-in.
    Cheers,

The iPad LED Backlit IPS Screen is not phosphor-based, so there is no permanent phosphor burn-in problem. You might see some image persistence, but that is not permanent and can be corrected. See this support article about image persistence: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2807
Since you have already converted your music to 128 kbps, you are unlikely to see any more 10+ hour syncs unless you have to do a restore. In that event, you could select the brightness control in settings to the lowest level.
FYI, there are some apps, such as Night stand HD that are designed to be used for long periods with unvarying displays and I have yet to see image persistence problems reported. However, since the iPad is still a new product, there may be some reports in the future.

  • IPHONE photos erased when you turn off the phone

I have a new IPHONE 3G phone .I can take pictures with the phone which are fine until I turn off the phone. When I turn it on again the photos taken with the IPHONE have disappeared.

The red arrow on the screen when you hold the top button down for a 3-5 seconds is the Power Off slider, which you move across the screen with your finger. Just pushing the top button momentarily puts the phone to sleep. Either way, the photo should be saved. If the photo is not saved to Photos>Camera Roll (and you are sure you are looking at Camera Roll and not another Photo Album), then you must have a corruption somewhere. If the Restore did not work, the only other option besides taking the phone in to Apple is to do another Restore and don't put anything back in until you try the Camera function, just to rule out the possibility that you are reloading a corruption. I've seen no other posts here about this, but it might be worthwhile to do a search and see.

You need to restore your iPad with iTunes in order to get it working again. Make sure that you see the part at the end about using recovery mode as you may need to use that method to restore.

  • Is anyone having stuttering problems on the ati 5870 with the mini dislplayport connected monitor when you turn off the display connected to the Dual-link DVI port?

hey i have a ATI 5870 and when ever i turn the monitor connected to the dual_link DVI port the display connected to one of the mini display port shutters with everything on the screen Video, Mouse movement ect, any ideas ?

Not sure what you are trying to do.  I interpret what you are saying is that you have a monitor connected to the DVI port and another to the mini displayport (mDP).  Are you physically trying to turn the one connected to the DVI port off (and on) causing the one on the mDP port to "shutter"?  If so, take a look at SwitchResX.  It will allow you to programmatically turn monitors on or off.  Maybe that will cure the problem.
Of course if I am misinterpreting what you are saying ignore this post.

  • What happens exactly when you turn off your Wi-Fi?

I was wondering, for the sake of knowing it, what exactly happens when you turn off the Wi-Fi of a Mac? I normally turn it off before putting it to sleep, because there have been some ocassions where after waking up, the Wi-Fi is on but not working. So I was thinking, what exactly happens with the radio when the computer goes to sleep or it's turned off.
    * Is it bad to turn off "hard" your Wi-Fi?
    * Is it bad to keep turning on and off the Wi-Fi?
I think that it may have to be something about a Wi-Fi service, but I simply don't know nor found any answer on the Internet.
    Thanks in advance.
Mac Mini, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
    OS X 10.10.3

When your Mac goes to sleep, the wifi is automatically turned off. When you wake the Mac up, your wifi will turn back on and hopefully will reconnect a short time later.
The purpose of Sleep is to save on energy, so wifi will be shutdown, as it is a significant energy drain.

  • How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?

How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?
I am using either of the path selection tools to select only some of the paths on the layer. I have the proper layer targeted. I have the selection too auto select option turned off.
If another layer has a path in that area, that layer becomes auto targeted and I get the wrong path. Turning off the layer is the only way to avoid this but then I have to  turn on the layer back on between making my selection and transforming to use the other layer as guide. Is there any way to stop this auto select? Locking the other layer does not stop the auto select, just prevents editing.

As far as i know the move tool options don't have any effect on the path selection tools.
You might try clicking on one of the path points or on the path itself with one of path selection tools and if you want to select multiple points
you can shift click with the Direct Selection Tool or Alt click to select the entire path.

Adobe Reader is free. It always has been.
You have obviously downloaded and installed Acrobat (30 day trial version) and the trial period has expired.
You need to uninstall Acrobat (using the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features [Vista/7])
Then run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
to completely remove the Acrobat installer files.
Then download Reader 9, install it, and go about reading PDFs for free.

  • Can you turn off the charging feature when using accessories?

Can you turn off the charging feature when using accessories with the iPad?

You cannot overcharge the battery when using the power adapter. Once the battery is fully charged, the iPad will no longer continue to charge if it is still connected. I leave my iPad on the power adapter for hours on end - on weekends when I am not at work.

These are both worthwhile reading for concerns about the battery and how to properly maintain it.
I know nothing about external speakers with the iPad since I do not use them - but If the speaker is with a dock of some sort that charges the iPad - you should have no worries. If it is a dock that charges the iPad - I know of no way to turn off the charging feature, but it will not shorten the life of the battery anyway as long as the battery is properly maintained and cared for.
