Airport Express not working, it disconeects over and over again

I have 3 airport express base stations, 2 of them work fine, but the third one doesnt. When I plug it in, it starts, and it gets the green light, so everythiing should me working right, but when i click on it on the airport utility it freezes and reboots, it gets the blinking orange light for liek 5 minutes or more, again when i get the green light and try to use airtunes, it stops working. I already tried reseting it.
what can i do?

Macs and PCs work together just fine with an Airport Express.

1. do the Mac and PC "see" the Airport Express wireless network?
2. if so, does the Airport Utility (or Airport Admin Utility) on either computer "see" the Airport Express and allow you to view/change its configuration?
3. what does the status light on the Airport Express show?
4. if you can connect to the Airport Express wireless network from the PC and/or Mac, is the only problem that you cannot access the internet?
5. what kind of reset did you do? To really start from scratch, do a factory default reset as described here.

Airport Express Not Working with iMac G4 and HP laptop

Ok I am really frustrated with this. I had my Airport Express configured to my mac and my old roommate's mac fine. I moved and just tried setting it up with my mac and my new roommate's PC laptop. It did not work. I tried connecting a router to see if that would help. It still didn't work. I reset the airport's default settings and it still didn't work. Is there a connectivity issue between macs and pcs using the airport express that I don't know about? Am I missing something? Can anyone give me some suggestions of what to try next because I am seriously fed up and running out of ideas of how to alleviate this.
Could it have anything to do with a firewall on the pc or the fact that I'm going from a place that supplied me cable internet to a place that now has dsl?

Airport express not working since today's itunes update

Since updating iTunes today, Airport Express not working. More specifically, the Airport software will recognise the device exists, but iTunes cannot connect to it, just getting error message.

Airport Express not working with Motorola Surfboard Sb6141 and TWC

My 2012 Airport Express was working fine with my Motorola Surfboard Sb6141 and TWC until about a week ago when the signal started dropping constantly. I hard wired the modem to my computer and everything worked fine. I took the Airport Express to the Genius Bar and it is working fine. I have followed the instructions posted throughout this board to reset the AE to factory settings, then turn everything off for 1/2 hour, turn on just the modem, the the AE 15 minutes later and the computer 15 minutes after that, but to no avail. When I try to set up the AE using Airport Utility, it allows me to assign a name and password, but then the light goes to solid amber and I get "An unexpected error occurred. Try again." Any ideas?

I'm still struggling trying to get the SB6141 to stay connected with my Airport Extreme but it drops altogether every day or 2 but if you're looking for an alternative, I've heard the Netgear CMD31T works well with the airport.

Airport Express not working with Comcast

I used to have AT&T and had my airport working well. Yesterday i changed to Comcast and my airport is not working the light stays yellow.. I tried resetting it but it didn't work.. I use it with my old Cisco router and its working. Whats wrong with my Airport Express? My computers are Windows 7

A solid amber light indicates that the AirPort Express has locked up....or it is defective.
Suggest you that try a Factory Default Reset as follows:
Pull the Express from power
Let it rest for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it for another 8-10 seconds while you plug the Express back in to power
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 40-45 seconds to restart
The Express should display a slow, blinking amber light at this time
If you continue to see a solid amber light after a few tries with a Factory Default Reset, the Express has failed and it will need to be replaced.

Airport express not working with apple products

We have been trying to get airport express to work with a macbook pro, ipad2, iphone, laptop, htc wildfire - havent even tried the air music or printer yet!
We have a green light on the airport express which is connected to an ntl cable modem(virgin media network).
Currently the only thing that will connecy is the laptop and my htc phone. All the apple products will not connect?
We went to the apple store today and it worked grand when it was plugged in - the apple products all worked.
The network comes up on ipad2 but when you press connect it says 'unable to connect'
can anyone help us please?

I have the same issue. Mine fixed itself for a bit and now it's broken again. I'm thinking it's going to be intermittently broken. I've tried turning both devices off and on again but that did not help.

HT2508 airport Express not working in Mountain Lion

My old airport express stopped working properly since I loaded Mountain Lion. I purchased a new Airport Express and it will work, but the audio fades in and out. I am connected from the airport express unit to my audio receiver via a 3.5 out into RCA (red/white) connector into the receiver. Can someone suggest a cure?

I have three printers up and running connected to an Air Port Express,
and since I upgraded to Lion I can't connect to any of them, so I continued using SL on this MBP17.
System Preferences does not show any of my printers.
I opened Air Port and it says I need to update.
When I click on the update button, it takes me to the App Store, but no Air Port Software — What gives?
Now having the same problems with Mountain Lion.
Hoped ML would fix the problem, but NO.
I find I have to save documents to a flash drive and go to my old PowerMac G4 to print.

Airport Express Not Working

Maybe someone can give me a hand. The airport express is working great for AirTunes but will not hookup to the internet. We've plugged in via ethernet wire and it works fine. We've also tried resetting the airport and unplugging it, resetting our computer. No dice. On the top of the computer screen the aiport indicator reads full internet perfectly but cannot connect. We're stumped.

Assuming you have a green light and you wireless mac can see the network but you have no internet; unplug the cablemodem for a minute.

Airport Express not working with wireless router

I just bought Airport Express to play music on my stereo. My PC running XP is connected to my wireless router (TeleWell TW-EA510v3) with ethernet cable and airport express wirelessly. Problem is that Airport Utility (and iTunes) can't find AE if it's not connected to router with ethernet cable.
I can connect to AE from Aiport Utility by "configure other" option so it's connected to my wireless network correctly.
Is this kind of set up even possible (pc wired to router and AE wireless)? I have tried tried WEP, WPA/WPA2 and no encryption on my wireless network and AE connects ok every time but Airport Utility still can't find it. I even tried to make a WDS network but AE was not compatible with my router. Now I can't come up with anything else to try.
Is there anything else to do? Should I buy WLAN adabter to my PC and would AE work then?
Why can't Apple make Airport Utility to recognise AE with given IP like with "configure other" option? Should not be too hard to program?!

Follow the isntruction lisetd below...they work.
Actually, the ae is a slick device, once you get it to work.
Make sure that one (or both) checkboxes in Airport Utility > Airport Express tab
(middle of page) are not checked...if one or both are checked, they limit (hide) wireless connectivity options (e.g., WEP-64) to choose from.
P.S. You must have patience: it may take a couple of minutes to establish the connection and turn the led to solid green. So, give it a chance.

I have this streaming perfectly now!! Here is what I did for others to see and use (it does work perfectly)
Step 1) Clear/Reset the Airport Express
Step 2) Connect the Airport Express directly to the Router/Modem via Ethernet to set up Wireless
Step 3) Do it via the Manual Set-up Effort Listed Below following:
AirPort > Base Station
o Base Station Name: <rename or leave default>
o Base Station Password: <enter desired password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter desired password>
o Remember this password in my keychain: (optional)
o Set time automatically: (unchecked)
AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
o Network Name: <existing Linksys wireless network>
o Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network> I have 64bit WEP
(Same as 40bit on the drop down menu)
o Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
Music
o Enable AirTunes (checked)
o iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
o iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
o Verify Password: (optional)
o Click Update to write the new settings to the AX
In iTunes:
iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
o Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)
Once it congratulates you, unplug the ethernet cable
Verify in Aitport Utility that it still recognizes (if not, repeat the above). Note this may take a few minutes, so be patient.
Now place the airport express with your stereo (or whatever) and again be patient as it tries to find the network
(mine took 4 minutes) then it turns green and you are off listening to music on your stereo downstairs in another room.
Frustrating when it does not work at first, but keep trying and it will work!!

Airport express not working in Japan "no ip address"

Hi,
We have an Airport Express which we use at home to create a wireless network for our iphones and a laptop. I traveled to Japan 2 years ago and plugged my hotel`s ethernet cable in and it worked fine.
We are in Japan now and, for the first 4 days, in our hotel, after plugging in the e-net cable, we kept getting a message saying we didn`t have a valid IP address. The hotel had wifi available so we didn`t bother pursuing it. Now we are at my wife`s family home and tried again and get the same message.
The set up is Fiber Optic cable going into a modem. One E-net cable coming from modem plugged into the WAN port on the AE. AE to iphone seems fine but get this message:
"Your Airport base station does not have a valid IP address. Make sure your base station is connected to your broadband modem or local network, verify your settings and try again......etc"
I tried the cable we brought from US and the cabvle that was going from the modem to the computer.
I unplugged the modem a couple of times to reset it.
I tried plugging the E-net cable into the LAN port.
Unfortunately it`s hard to experiment because the computer is not a Mac and is all in Japanese. It took forever just to get online to check email and typing is a nightmare with this keyboard. My Brother-in-law is only accessible late at night after a long workday and with a three person communication chain it`s not easy to troubleshoot. And worse of all, every time I unplug the modem or disrupt the connection, my Brother-in-law has to sign back in to get the computer back on line.
Any help would be appreciated.

Not quite... "join" a wireless network. Big difference:
Open Airport Utility, select your Express, click Manual Setup, select the AirPort pane, and in "Wireless Mode:" select "Join a wireless network".

That's asking too much. Your AirPort can create a new network, extend an existing network (Apple Base Stations only), or join an existing network (any kind).
In your case, the latter choice is the appropriate one.

Answer: Yes. AirPort Express can join a third-party network in client mode, or if it is connected via Ethernet to a LAN port on the non-Apple wireless access point.

Airport Express (not n) with ethernet hub and as wireless base

Will Airport Express do this?
I've got a cable modem. It connects by ethernet to a hub. Airport Express (not n) connects to the hub by ethernet. My laptops (MacBook and HP 69xx WinXP Pro) connect to AX and internet just fine.
In that same hub, I want to connect a D-Link DNS323, which I wish to be made accessible to the wireless network provided by AX. Here's a sort-of diagram:

With only the hub, the NAS, and the express, you can't access both the internet and the NAS wirelessly at the same time. Here's why:
The AirPort Express has only one Ethernet port. That port can either act as a WAN port or a LAN port, but not both at the same time.
You need the Express to be connected to the internet. Unless you have another wireless router (Apple or otherwise), it will have to be connected through its Ethernet port. Therefore, the Ethernet port must act as a WAN port.
The NAS, on the other hand, is part of your network. For it to be connected, the port must act as a LAN port.
This means that the NAS can't be connected to the Express via Ethernet because then the port would need to act both as a LAN port and a WAN port, which it can't do.
This means you'll need an additional wireless router if you want to access both the internet and the NAS at the same time.
If you have another wireless router (it doesn't have to be an AirPort), I can help you configure it to work with your current network so that you can access the NAS.

Time Capsule and Airport Express not working correctly.

Just bought a Time Capsule to replace my router....and now my Airport Express is no longer showing up in Airport Utility.
Also, the speed is awful. I have 25MB coming into the house via ethernet....but a speedtest on my wireless network shows me running at 4.5Mb download speed.
I spent $500 on the Time Capsule. I don't understand it.
Anyone have suggestions?

Then restart both base stations and check that the settings are still good. Then disconnect the Express and give it a few minutes to initialize. It should connect. If not, then the issue may be either the distance or obstructions (like walls, ceilings, floors, etc.) that is preventing the Express from getting a signal from the TC that is adequate enough to extend.

WPA security with both time capsule and airport express not working together

I want to set WPA security on my time capsule so that my teenager can not access wireless with out permission but when I add a security key my airport express disappears from list.
I have tried setting a password then the time capsule restarts and when it does the aiport express is gone from list and can not be found when rescanned.
Do I need to set time capsule and then reset airport express by pluggin it directly into desktop and resetting its software?
