Airport Extreme working but not visible in Airport Admin Utility

Recently my Airport Extreme (spaceship version) stopped showing up in the Airport Admin Utility v4.2.
The internet works fine computers can connect wirelessly or wired to the Airport Extreme and use the internet. AppleTV isn't visible in iTunes anymore either so it can't sync but can connect to the internet to see previews, YouTube, etc.
I have tried removing Airport Admin Utility and reinstalling, checked permissions, all okay.
Any ideas?

In that case, I tend to agree with your assessment. For some reason, the Bonjour automatic network device discovery process seems not to be working properly on this Mac. I'm not going to be of much help in troubleshooting that problem.
The only other issue I have encountered is with the installation of excessively robust firewall software on the Mac blocking Bonjour's ability to discover network devices. VPN client software is sometimes also a culprit, for the same reasons. You have already indicated this could not possibly be the cause of your problems.

This is a multi-part issue.
My airport express is online, recognized by by network manager but is not seen by the Airport Utility. I am running the latest firm ware upgrade and Airport utility for windows versions
The network is working. My laptops working on wireless connect to my network. However, my IPOD touch will not connect to the network even though I get a strong signal and the touch indicates it is connected to the network.

It happened to me today. I noticed that if you change the name of the Airport Express and also some other information in other tabs, like the wireless info, and then you save (the AE restarts) then it is ot available.
To solve the issue that I could not see it anymore, I connected to the AE with a LAN ethernet cable, then executed the set ups one tab at the time, saving (restarting) in between.

PC Used to work with XP and airport Extreme Basestation but not with Vista

Please help, my PC Used to work with XP and airport Extreme Basestation but not now with Vista. I have a MacBook Pro connected and also a Mac Pro connected to the network on it and they still work, i have put the latest software on the PC and the firmware is up to date. The only thing i can see on the network on the PC is the basestation Hard Disk (shared also to the Macs) but i cannot connect with the password, i have tried everything in my knowledge, including formatting the machine and reinsatlling OS and changing security setting to no avail. Any ideas anyone?

HT1218 Airport Extreme base station is working, but not visible on network?

My Airport Extreme base station is working: all devices are able to connect to the internet, but Airport Utility shows no connection. Only one computer even shows the device-- greyed out-- saying "Device not Found." The airport utility shows version 6.2; OS X version 10.8.3. How do I update the base station to version 7 if the device can't be found? And how do the devices connect to the internet without "seeing" the device?

If you have not already done so, I suggest that you perform a complete power cycle on the entire network as folllows:
Power off every network device....in any order you want
Wait a minute or two
Start the modem first, and let it run a few minutes by itself
Start the AirPort Extreme next, the same way
Continue starting devices one at a time about a minute apart until everything is powered back up
Check the network again using AirPort Utility
You can also temporarily connect an Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Extreme to see if a connection is established that way.
If still no luck, try another Mac if you one handy. After that, all that I can suggest is that you perform a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Extreme and configure it again.

Airport Express B/G not visible on Airport Utility / Airtunes not working

Hi Everybody,
I'm just experiencing a Airport Express/Airtunes Problem! Everything was working fine. I setted up this 1/2 year old Airport Express B/G as the only device via ethernet cable next to my FritzBox DSL Modem to have a wireless network. I use it for Airtunes / Printer Sharing & Wireless Networking. 1 Week ago I visited my friend, who has a new Airport Express N and we tried to extend his my network thru My AX. As I got back home, I wasn't able to find my airport via airport utility, so i hard reseted it and reconfigured it as I told above. Everything was working fine for about one hour until the music stopped and until then this device could not be found via Airport Utility and iTunes doesn't offer me an option to play music via Airtunes anymore.
But the crazy thing is: I have Internet, Printer Sharing is possible & my roommate can play music via Airtunes using his Windows XP PC and even see the device via the utility.
I tried some settings with the networking security, but there appears no difference neither in iTunes than in the Utility.
Help much appreciated!

This morning a firewall security message showed up: Allow connections of myDNSresponder and Config...? I allowed all connections, it worked for maybe one hour and disappeared again. So I decided to set my firewall settings to "allow all incoming connections" which was set to "set access for specific services and applications.
Now everything works really fine with the airport express!

Time Capsule connected but not visible in Airport Utility

Hi there,
My Time Capsule is visible in the finder windows as a drive, I am connected to it, and it is my link to Internet, it is visible from my wife's iMac in the next room, but it won't appear in the Airport utility (I can see only the two Air Port Extreme that are in other parts of the house for remote speakers).
All this is done within the same network as far as I know, so I don't see where the problem comes from.
In fact I want to access my TC configuration in order to get back the password needed for my wife to connect to it.

Time Capsule switches on, but not visible in AirPort Utility

I have just moved house.
New ADSL modem/router, no problem setting up network. Trying to 'extend' network with Time Capsule (and wireless backing up) as I had in the previous house without a problem. When I use AirPort Utility to scan for wireless devices (eg AirPorts), with the TC switched on, it doesnt appear in AirPort Utility.
The light is flashing amber, but it alweays did that.

Airort Card Works, Airport Extreme Works, but can't get to Internet

I have a friend's MacBook (white, 2GB RAM) that he needed the OS upgraded on. Before upgrading the OS (Tiger) the machine would not connect to the internet through Safari or though any of the OS components like System Update, etc (even though the Airport Card showed full signal). I upgraded his machine all the way to OS X Snow Leopard and it's still the same. You can log into the Network panel, the Airport Card sees the network but Safari and any other OS components that need the internet cannot connect.
What's the problem and solution?

I'm using an AirPort Express (2nd generation) for my Wi-Fi. I've configured the AirPort Express with my iPhone 5, but when I try to find the AirPort Express on my Windows 8 computer, it doesn't show up in the AirPort Utility software and in iTunes, the AirPlay function is not available. The AirPlay function is working fine on my iPhone 5/5s. What can I do to get the AirPlay function working in iTunes on my computer?

About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X
For AirPlay Display (video) to work, check if the checkbox at System Preferences -> Displays.
For AirPlay (sound) like iTunes, check if the device shows up...
If you have Firewall turned on the Mac, check if Bonjour ports are open.

The airport utility software running on Windows7 is not able to find my airport extreme. Bute the wireless connection is working.

I have a stable wireless connection between my Laptop with Windows 7 and the airport extreme. But the airport utility software cannot find the air port extreme. The problem now is that I cannot install my printer which is connected via USB to the airport extreme. Can somebody help? thx

Airport extrem working with expresses to create a powerful network, but how

I have one extreme base station and 3 expresses in a 3 story house with a basement. My network base is on the 3rd floor and I want the base station to link from that one to others to boost the signal. I thought I had it all set but am not getting good signal at all. Oh and I have 8 total computers: 4 pcs, 1 Powerbook G4, 2 Imac Intels, 1 Macmini intel.
3 Pcs are hard wired the other wireless and all the Macs are wireless.
There is a dlink systeme set up that was implace before and used for wireless but with the new Macs im switching to Airports. Should I git rid of the Dlink wireless router?

You will need to replace the D-Link with the Airport Extreme.
Step 1
Configure the Airport Extreme so it is working as a single wireless router - do not touch the WDS tab in other words where it was before you started.
For ease use a new network name and security.
If necessary do a reset.
Wait ten minutes
Step 2
Factory reset the Airport Express.
Plug the Airport Express in.
On your Mac remain connected to the Airport Extreme wireless network.
Run the Airport Assistant say that you want to configure a new base station.
It should find the Airport Express and ask you some questions, confirm that you want to extend the network of the Extreme network, in other words extend an existing network.
Once it has configured both Airports.
Wait ten minutes.
Repeat Step 2 for each of the remaining Airport Express units.
You may want to reconfigure the middle Airport Express as a relay unit instead of a remote unit.
You are good to go.

Airport Extreme works fine but I can't see it in Airport Utility

Have seen numerous posts on this issue but no solutions!
I have a MB Pro running 10.4.11, Airport Extreme and Airport Utility 5.2.1. The Airport Extreme works perfectly, with no connection issues, but I cannot see it anymore in Airport Utility. I have another Airport Express hooked up to my stereo (for airtunes only), and can see this in Airport Utility, but not the Extreme. The Extreme used to appear here, but no more. Otherwise works fine. Just need to be able to reconfigure it.
Anyone know what the fix is????

I have this same issue. Internet works, I can connect to it, but i doesn't show in the Airport Utility. Also, it doesn't let me connect to other computers or my AirDIsk. I am using 10.5. Unplug and plugin style reset fixes it...for a while. Any ideas anyone?

How old are the various devices? It could be possible for you to have configured a very new AirPort Extreme in a way that older iPhones and iPads could not access. For example, could you have set up the Extreme to use only 801.11n and 5GHz?

AirPort Extreme- Works in 1 room, not the other

For the first month I lived in this house, the AirPort Extreme worked great in every room and in both the front and back yards. The unit is in my bedroom. When in my office, about 15 feet away, the unit works fine and my computer shows full signal strength. When in the living room, 5 feet away from the office, I have no signal at all. So, I ask, ***? Is there any type of diagnostic I can run, or any sort of reset I can perform? Unplugging and plugging back in does not do the trick. Is there a software update I am lacking, or some preventative maintenance I need to perform? This is pretty frustrating.

It may be RF interference caused by another RF signal or the material used in your house is blocking the signal.
Is your AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) using 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz? If 2.4 GHz have you tried changing the channel used by the AEBS?

Let me see if I can help you with the basic WDS configuration steps:
Note: To help facilitate the setup, temporarily connect the AXn directly to the AEBS LAN port using an Ethernet cable. Once the setup is complete, you can move the AXn to the desired location. For all configuration steps you will be using the AirPort Utility. Before starting, be sure to jot down the AppleIDs for both base stations.
802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) Configuration
AirPort Utility > Select the AEBS > Manual Setup > Wireless tab
Wireless Mode: Participate in a WDS network
Manual Setup > WDS tab
WDS Mode: WDS main
Allow wireless clients (checked)
WDS Remotes: <enter the AppleID for the AXn here>
Click on Update and allow the base station to restart.

AirPort Utility > Select the AXn > Manual Setup > Wireless tab
