Airport/freezing/mouse track won't work

Hey guys, I'm wondering if you could help with my iBook G4. I'm beginning to get seriously annoyed with it. I bought it back in September and it was fine up until recently where it has begun crashing. It tells me that I need to push down the power button to power down. When that happens, I shut it down and then I power it back up again. However, when it does load up, Airport cannot be found/does not exist. When I try to run disk utility, or any other program, it freezes. Not only that but the mouse track will no longer respond.
I'm bloody well tired of having to restart it over 10 times. I've updated all the necessary software and hardware on here. Maybe this happened when I updated the Airport software. I am running some third party software, but that hardly crashes the laptop. There are times when it won't respond and I just force quit applications.
I'm really annoyed and I need this laptop to work. I've also found that the build of iBook is loose like it has been altered before being sent to me.
Any help would be necessary. Thank you.

It seems you are encountering a . The cause of a kernel panic could be hardware or software. If your AirPort card is not available after a crash like this, that could be a telling sign. Perhaps your AirPort card itself is loose? A loose connection could cause a kernel panic. You might try taking it out and putting it back in to make sure it's secure.

Does the Magic Mouse track pad function work with OSX 10.5.8? Or do I need updated software to use all of the functions?

Mouse clicks won't work on the browser - any suggestions?

Following an upgrade of Firefox last year, I can't get the mouse clicks to work on the browser. Doesn't matter whether it's left or right buttons. The radio buttons and links get highlighted when you hover the mouse over the links or the buttons but they won't work when clicked. They work on other browsers (Explorer and Chrome) but no longer on Firefox. I'm using it on a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.

#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

wow - these discussions have saved my life in every instance except this one.... have an iMac G4, just installed Panther, updated to 10.4.2, got new apple wireless keyboard and mouse - all working fine & dandy (w/exception that i also had to re-pair every time i re-started the computer) but i could wake the computer up from sleep, etc. - never a problem... then - change the batteries - nada. zip. zero. i have carefully combed through these discussions - done everything - and i mean absolutely everything suggested at least twice.... no can do.... won't work. have reinstalled mouse & keyboard CD, checked firmware/updater, turned computer totally off & unplugged then restarted, deleted and reinstalled mouse, whatever else they got in there - nothing... says it's paired, and often the mouse will work on the clicks - but the cursor won't move.... i'm at the end of my corded mouse now, got the cordless because of shoulder issues - and they're getting worse.... who - where to turn now?

I solved the same problem this morning by just rebooting. I had, like you, done everything twice. Hope this works for you.

Mouse/Trackpad won't work. What's step one?

Okay, this is irksome. The Wife's two month old iMac has just gotten a problem which renders it unusuable. The mouse and the trackpad work in the sense that the curser goes across the screen but I have no way of "clicking" anything. I have tried the trackpad, an wired Apple mouse and a cheapo wired generic mouse and I have used all different USB ports for the wired mice. Same thing. At this point, I pulled the plug and restarted it. Again, same thing.
I have Apple Care so I could call but I'd like to try to fix it myself before making the phone call. So any ideas?

"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

Mouse Track Ball only working in one direction

Hello,
My Mighty Mouse is 3 months old and now the track ball is only working in one dircetion.
When I move the ball forward I hear the distinct sound and the scroll bar on e.g. Safari moves, but when I reverse there is no movement on the screen.
I don't hear the same sound as when I move the track ball forward.
I have tried to reboot but no improvement.
Have someone seen teh same issue? Is the solution to simply replace the mouse?

Face Detection on iPhone4s freezes on faces & won't work! Help!

Hi all. I've been searching all across the Internet in hopes that others are having the same issue as me. I'm hoping that anyone can shed some light on why this keeps happening to me.
I purchased a brand new iPhone4s in December of 2011. My phone was working great till around April 2012, I began having the issue that if I take a picture of people with the apple camera app (both front & back camera), face detection locates the faces but then freezes on me. Many times the camera won't take the picture and then shuts down and restarts itself. Other times, it will take the picture but only after several minutes. The camera app works great on landscape, but not faces. It doesn't matter if I'm opening the camera from the lock screen or in my unlocked phone.
I took my iphone into the apple store numerous times and it was eventually replaced. I started with a clean phone and just in case, I uploaded my apps back on my new iphone from itunes, not icloud. I did this to avoid installing the problem back on my iphone. Sadly, the problem is now arising again on a replaced iphone.
In addition, on my orginal iphone (before replacement) sometimes, if I would want to edit a picture in the camera roll, the picture would freeze and cause my phone to shut down and restart. I haven't encountered this problem yet on the replaced iphone.
Is this problem happening to anyone else? Please help. Thank you!

Hello, I would like to add that I recently experienced this problem with iPhone 4S. Multiple face detection defeinitely causes the camera app to lock up, whereas scenery pictures do not. It just happens to be rare for me to take pics with many people in them on my iPhone, so I was suprised to find this happening.
The only advice I could find was a forum post, which suggests the key is to always "unlock" before entering the camera app. Meaning, the quick-slide access to camera from the lock screen may be at the root of the problem.

Airport shows but browser won't work

My airport is setup and works fine w/ my laptop. The airport shows a full signal in the status bar on the Mac mini but when I try to run an application such as Mail, Firefox, or Safari, it won't connect.

Additional Info:
Another potential clue is that I am able to print from the mini over the airport.

Mid 2011 Macbook Pro keeps freezing and Chrome won't work.

Starting two days ago my Macbook has started freezing. It was working fine then an hour later it started freezing. It doesn't seem to matter what the program is, Chrome, Microsoft Word, Finder, Notes, everything; except for activity monitor.I have had troubles with my HD as my main Tb hard drive failed probably a month ago; when ever I started up the computer it shows the grey file with a blinking question mark. Never was able to resolve that. Now I am on the stock HD, 500 Gb, and have used about 51 Gb of it; with no huge programs such as ableton, PS, etc. on this HD. I have upgraded my ram to 16 Gb, but I am currently running 1.5 gb wired, 1.3 gb active, and 300 Mb inactive; totalling to 3.1 gb used and 12.9 free. I also have 500mb pages in and 0mb pages out. This maybe the reason, however I have no applications open but when looking at the processes in activity monitor it doesn't show anything abnormal. I am currently using around 2-8% of my CPU; my CPU being an I5. However, when it freezes and after it finally ends beach balling the cpu percentage skyrockets to around 40% then falls back to around 4. Yesterday I tried loading google chrome and now it says there is an ssl error, and my date in the top right corner has been rolled back to January 1 2012. I Tried chaning it but it beach balled and I shut off my computer. Right now I am using Safari, and have closed many, random, processes on the activity monitor and it seems to be running smoother with no beach balls. Anyone have any suggestions?
**When I tried to add tags posting this my safari froze. When i closed xcel in my activity monitor safari started working again. Is this possibly a RAM issue?

So my genius confirmed that my logic board had died. he said it's very rare for this to happen unless there's been physical damage I.e water damage. But this one had him stumped he thinks my hard drive is also shot too.

Logitech Touch Mouse App won't work or display cursor on a iOS device running RD Client App

I was trying to use Logitech Touch Mouse App installed on a iPhone5 as a physical mouse with a RD Client installed on another iPad mini. The host is a NB running Windows 7. The Touch mouse movement is noticeable on the RDC screen on iPad mini, but the cursor
is missing. It appears the cursor image was blocked by the RDC.
It would be very helpfull for the RDC running on a iOS device to support this type of WiFi mouse App to enable a physical mouse (through a smart device). I can see many usage models of RD Client with this type of physical mouse feature.

Mighty mouse: tracking ball not working well

"No, kidding", I am sure you are all saying:)
The mouse works in three directions, but not going down. I have just read another post where someone with the same identical problem as me was told to turn it upside down and rub it vigorously onto a piece of paper. I have done that, but there is no change. Any advice??? Thanks.

Powerbook G4 mouse button won't work

My wife has a titanium powerbook g4 and she has been having problems with the mouse button on the laptop. You have to push it just right to get it to work, if you are lucky. I wasn't sure if I could clean the button or if anyone has had this issue and had to replace it.

Try this - Reset the trackpad by placing your entire palm directly onto the whole trackpad for 3 to 4 seconds, and then remove your hand from the trackpad in one smooth motion.

Right click as primary mouse button won't work

Here's my problem...
I go into system preferences / keyboard & mouse and click on "Right" under "Primary mouse button:".
Then I close system preferences, but my right click isn't set as my main click (the contextual menu keeps popping up).
So I re-open system prefs / keyboard & mouse and notice that "Primary mouse button" is set to left again, so I click on "Right" again, close system prefs.
The same thing happens again:(
I tossed preferences for keyboard & mouse, repaired permissions, restarted...no dice. I'm on a powerbook g4 osx 10.4.7 & it's a logitech mouse (logitech's latest driver is bunk..I had it installed previously but uninstalled because the same thing was happening).
The thing that bugs me is that i have an imac at work w/ 10.4.7 and it works fine with the same mouse!

I'm using a logiech mouse w/ left & right click buttons. It's possible that if you're not using a 2 button mouse, "Right" does not appear in the Keyboard & Mouse system pref.
I'm trying to make the actual right mouse button on my mouse my main click & make the left mouse button my right click. Basically I want to reverse the mouse buttons.
About the test user account...if it does work correctly in the new account, how can I make it work in my main account?

My USB printer (Lexmark E350d) worked fine with the old Airport, but I'm having trouble with the new one. When I try to print, I get a USB Waiting message on the printer, and when I force a page to print by pressing Go on the printer, I get a page that says ERROR: syntaxerror OFFENDING COMMAND: true. . . .cvt . . . fpgm . . . x . . .lglyf . . . <..J head . . . STACK: / [ -mark- /sfnts I’ve tried shutting down the printer and disconnecting it and the Airport, but that doesn’t help. I reset the settings on the printer. I upgraded the Airport firmware and removed, reinstalled, and upgraded the Lexmark printer driver. After I upgraded the firmware and printer driver, a few pages printed correctly, but then I got the same syntax error page as before. Any suggestions for getting the printer to work correctly?

Use a powered USB hub between the AE and the printer.. the usb port does sometimes have issues.
Try deleting the printer in the Mac and reinstall it.. the change in AE can represent effectively a change of printer.. it is important to make sure that is all up to date.
Beyond that.. USB printers.. ughhh! Consider for two toners you can go and buy a proper network printer.
